I mean I can’t blame them but we’ve officially reached the “anyone left can win” and “why not us?” portion of the playoffs, so god dammit anyone left can win, and why not us?
Feel like people are overcorrecting a bit from the end of the season. Skubal is going to start 40% of the games. Literally the most proportion of Skubal we could get in the playoffs. Seattle just doesn’t have a guy like that and we’ve done relatively well against Kirby.
I’ll feel better if Keith is playing if not I think we will struggle to score runs
I remember last year when all the experts were convinced that the Phillies would annihilate the Mets. Then the Phillies’ offense decided not to show up and they were out in a blink.
So yes, the Mariners look like they’re the better team but baseball is so unpredictable that anything can happen.
Maybe we can do our own version of “Guards Ball” devil magic and BS out a Game 1 win, get carried by Skubal in Game 2 and then we’re heading home up 2-0. Or we could get run over and be out in 3. I’m just excited to even be in this position at all at this point.
Who are these supposed sages of the future?
I’ve never heard of any of these people.
If you were an unbiased observer you would pick the Mariners too. Doesn’t mean they are going to win but I’m not sure what would lead them to pick Detroit.
But if we can get 1 in Seattle and have Skubal ready for a possible game 5 if needed, I like our chances. Need the bats to come alive like they did in that 7th inning to have a chance tho.

They’re sleeping on us. We’re built well for a five game series. It’s a seven game where I think our depth gets exposed more.
