ASK US ANYTHING: What Can the Chicago Bears STILL GET Out of Montez Sweat? | CHGO Bears Podcast

It’s a Friday edition of CHCO Bears and we’re going to make it a diehard Q&A. Ask us anything. It all gets started right now. CHCO Bears. [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] This is the CA Show Bears podcast presented by Bet 365. You can download the Bet365 app. Use code cho365 when you sign up. Whatever the moment, it is never ordinary at bet 365. And Karm was on that bet 365 app last night. Missed a two-way parlay by four yards. Just needed Kron Williams, who couldn’t hold on to the football at all last night to get four more yards. But it’s what you got to do. I use the um but here’s the great news cuz we tell you all this time with Bet 365. I use that $10 par parlay um what do they call it? Guarantee or get your money back if you didn’t get the the bet right. Yeah. Yeah. That I mean you get credit back. It’s not your actual money. So you get you get a doover. So we’ll figure out which one to do it to to we’ll fix that whole situation later on the show. Karm. Well, a couple things here, Hog. Number one, uh, who the hell does M. Jones think he is, beating the LA Rams last night when Matthew Stafford’s thrown three touchdown passes. But congrats to the ners, most shocking 4-1 team in football. But Hog, that’s not the story last night. I know that you were This is This is vendor uniform circa 20,000 2003, buddy. Uh, this Yeah, this one wasn’t, you know, it’s it’s it’s loose fitting. It’s a nice It’s a nice situation here. Uh, can I be critical for a second though? Yeah, I know. Go ahead. Is a great looking vendor, jersey, shirt, whatever you want to call that. Uh, that is good for you to be able to keep all these years. But as a fan, I I need that bright neon color so I could spot the vendor. Oh, you you want you want you want a big yellow coming at you. Kind of like what if you go to a White Socks game, you could see those guys from three sections away. Yeah. I know those are that’s some ugly neon green. You can you can identify a Hogan sin like nothing. He will come running for you. Shout out Tom Hogensson. uh and all the great vendors out there. But you know th this this is like you’re on the roster and um you know I I observed the holiday yesterday so I didn’t go to Wrigley Field which was I was thinking about it today and I know we got a ton to get here in the mailbag but that because I I was privileged enough to you know be able to have a press pass and get in the ballpark. What an idiot not going they they’ve clinched a game at home. It happened in 2015 when they beat the Cardinals. All right. And it happened in 2016 when they beat the Dodgers to go to the World Series. The Dodgers going to the World Series in Wrigley Field was a spiritual moment. It was unbelievable. People were literally crying and like, “This is the happiest moment of my life.” I’m walking around to the fans. I’m like, “Yeah, when you say happiest moment of your life, are you including your kids in that?” Like, I think I am. Like it was it was that big of a deal. And so like that’s the third time ever they’ve clinched at home and I it’s I do want to temper it a little bit. I mean it’s you know the playoffs have been expanded. It’s the wild card round and all these things. But that that would that was a fun opportunity. Jared Wills did a great job covering it for us. So shout out to Jared. Kon was also the first winner go home game that they’ve ever clinched at home. Now, I would say that that’s incorrect because you had the wild card 163, right, in in 98. That’s not a playoff game, though. That’s not considered a playoff game. Not considered a playoff game. It’s not. It’s Well, if you’re calling Pat Norton a liar, that’s your problem, buddy. Cuz that was in his newsletter this morning. I might have to, you know, I normally start my day with Pat Norton, but we had a little situation this morning, so that didn’t happen. But uh look uh I don’t want to quibble with Pat and I heard Pat did a great job yesterday on the show. So thank you for to Pat for stepping in. I heard that my interview and your interview with Carrie me was also amazing yesterday. So shout out to that interview. Well yeah and but I just wanted to bring that up because um you are an idiot for not going because even I thought about going. I looked at the ticket prices on game time. I I considered taking James yesterday and they because they were they were off school and I was like guess a little bit too much but if I was a Cubs fan I definitely would have paid for it. It’s like a hundred bucks to get in that place yesterday. Yeah. When you got an 11year-old with you can’t just do standing remotely. It’s not going to work. You just walk around. You say I’m Hogue. I’m James. People like literally would get out of their seats for you. Oh yeah. That’s how that works. That’s how that works. Trust me. They love you. They they absolutely would. I’ll go stand for you, Hog. I got you. All right. Well, before we get into Bears, how many times you listen to your Taylor Swift album this morning? That’s the next question. That’s a no. I I have not crossed the Come on. I I I I haven’t I love Taylor. I got style. I don’t want to get myself in trouble with Katie on her uh um I know you weren’t asking me, but it’s on repeat over here, so I appreciate you bringing that up. Thank you very much. As it should be. Yeah. I was outside with my four-year-old daughter by 8 am this morning with with Taylor Swift blasting. You gotta celebrate. I’m through that album at least twice. It’s probably more because I kind of had it on the background, too. I hate to admit to all the Karm fans out there, but I I I I did not know that that album was dropping today. So, that’s just a bad job. It’s a bad job. Well, and I will say the rumor is that that um the real reason why Braggs and Steven were hanging out with Derek Stevens last night was cuz you know that album dropped at 9:00 Pacific time, a little bit more reasonable time. And uh I think they were having a big Taylor Swift party together, the three of them. That’s what I heard. That’s just what my sources tell me. All I know is that the pictures coming out of Vegas from Braggs make me wonder exactly what Braggs is doing and if he’s returning home. And I apparently he has told people that he’s flying back today and he put the later Vegas thing, but it all it did and I I think Greg Gree would would chop off his arm before he’d ever leave CHGO. But Greg Brags working at circa and staying there forever, I can’t say I can’t see it. I’m with you on that one. I’m with you. All right. Uh well before we get into the by weekend as we continue to go strong here throughout the by week with shows for you every single weekday as always uh we are going to take a couple days to breathe here though a little bit. We’ll be back with you on Monday. Before we get in in the weekend we thought it’d be a great opportunity to do a by-week edition of a diehard Q&A diehard ask us anything. I always like to do ask us anything and then our dieards they’re just such dieards karm all they do is ask us football questions. Yeah, it’s just this all they their their minds are just on football. I respect it and um so it’s really more of a bears Q&A if it it is and these are u there’s a couple of slight there’s at least one super fun one in there and I I uh you know just going off the rails here if somebody wants to put in a ask us anything level question in the chat that that that Katie thinks makes the cut that she wants to know the answer to we can maybe slip that in there too even though this is a very busy show and we want to honor the dieards. So, yeah. Uh, but but sure, why not? Let’s go. It’s Friday on in the by-week. What do we got to start? Um, well, we have a question, I believe, about Montes Sweat to start. Um, from what I’m assuming is the Ben Johnson fan club, not something else. Uh, but, you know, it’s a good club. The bi-week mailbag. when can we get out from the Montes sweat contract and does it make sense to rotate him more and give those reps to other prospects like Dom Rob and Austin Booker when he gets back? So, um we’ll start with the first part of that question Karm and it’s actually very interesting because believe it or not um we’re getting to the point the Bears can probably get out of it this off seasonason if they really wanted to. Um the there’s if they So the big the big date from what I can tell looking at the spot track is the third day of the league year starting 2026. So new league year is always in March. That’s when free agency starts. the third day of the league year 2026. 10 million of Montes’s 2026 salary will fully guarantee on that date. But if you look at the what this contract was, it was a $98 million four-year deal. At the end of this season, he’ll already be halfway through that deal. And almost 63 million was guaranteed. But um a lot of that was the uh 20.9 million base salary he got last year and this year. So they’re good portion of the way through that guaranteed money karm. And so you could theoretically save almost $17 million in cap space by getting rid of him before that uh 10 million kicks in on his contract on the third day of the new league year. It would still cost you about 8.1 million against your cap because the remaining two years of that signing bonus proration would still count against your cap. That’s about $4.1 million in the next two seasons. So that would all just apply to next season. Bears could do that. I’m not sure they want to do that. But I think when you’re looking at the fact that Karm, he is due another 20.9 million in base salary next season. You’re not getting that out of him right now. And so I think the question here to start this Q&A, even though it’s only we’re going into week five of the season, everybody can kind of chill out a little bit. I think it’s a completely fair question to start talking about if the production doesn’t turn around here. Yeah. Uh again, shout out to the dieards for this level of question because it’s a good one. And um you know, you did throw me and Hogue because I we have the same numbers. They’re deep into a you know, the signing proration is four a little under four million a year for the next two years, 26 and 27. So that’s the Hulk 4-1 if you round it up. Um, and then if you round it up total, they they’ll they more they more they more they owe him close to 8.2 uh to get out of it as on a dead cap hit next year. You know what my reaction to this question is? Uh, yeah, sure. You could get rid of him at the end of this year if you wanted to. This question being on the table and the fact that the Bears are going to have to consider it sucks cuz this dude was brought over here to be your best defensive player and now we’re getting questions from dieards rightfully so. How soon can we get out of it? That ain’t great. And just hope, you know, so hopefully Monteswell will see a lot more ruck the baby, get in the back field, make some plays, sack the quarterback the rest of the way here, starting with the Commanders going up against your former team. They traded you. Great trade for Washington at this point, getting the second round pick and not paying him. But hopefully he’ll play a whole lot better. But, uh, look, if he doesn’t, it’s absolutely on the table that the Bears would do something like like, you know, eat 8 million to get rid of him and try to, you know, get a better player for the remaining dough that that would be on there for him, which is significant. And that leads us to the second part of the question, though, because he’s still earning uh basically $21 million this year just in in straight salary. Of course, the signing bonus that was paid out brings that cap hit to uh over 25 million, which is relevant. So, he’s counting 25 million, a little bit over a little bit over 25 million against your cap right now. You need to get more out of them. You just need to get more out of them. And so, to the second part of that question, do you start giving them reps to Dom Rob and Austin Booker? I’m all for um playing the best guys, the guys that earn it, but Dom Rob’s not gonna do more than Austin Booker is right now. Now, if Austin, I’m sorry, then uh Montes Sweat, but if Austin Booker comes back from this injury and starts to develop the way you were hoping he would, I still think he’s a little bit on the light side to be able to do that consistently. It’s probably more of a better change of pace option. I just I think you gotta you keep giving these reps to Montes. It’s not like he’s not getting any pressure. He he’s he’s causing some pressure, but it’s not at the rate the pressure rate is not at the rate that matches what his contract is. Well, right now for Austin Booker, I think realistically his best position is as a third down pass rushing specialist. Problem is for the Bears, if you’re using him that way, that means you’re either sitting sweat, big money player, or Dio, who you gave a boatload of money to as well. So rotating him in there makes some level of sense, but rotating him in more than, you know, that Sweat just sits on those downs, that that’s that’s not why you signed Montes Sweat to the contract that you signed him to. So, and I and listen, shout out Don Rob, man. He’s he’s he’s a good rotational piece. He’s making plays. He’s hung on the roster. He’s going to get himself an NFL pension. It’s really a phenomenal job for a guy who played wide receiver in college to be able to learn how to be a defensive end uh and last in the NFL going through year four and looks like he, you know, maybe gets a, you know, chance for another contract with the Bears or elsewhere next year. But, yeah, I don’t think anybody thinks he’s, you know, headed towards being big- time elite. Although if Montes keeps on going the way he’s going, put Dom out there. Let let him fight. I because at least he he seems a little bit more allin than Sweat does at times. Well, and I just want to be clear before we hit our first break, like it this this is about it’s not even about money. It’s about what you’re allocating in cap space to certain positions, right? So, I see people in the comments, Montes Sweat is getting pressure. He had pressures on two of the three interceptions. I’m not debating that. There’s there is some pressure. Montes Sweat is being paid to sack the quarterback. He is being paid to wreck games like Max Crosby pretty much did. Should have gotten the win, deserved the win on Sunday with what he did. So that is the type of level player you thought you were training for and paying for and you’re not getting that right now. So is he still a good player on your defense? Yes. That’s why the second part of the question, I don’t think you give up his playing time to somebody else. But if he doesn’t turn this thing around and get you close to 10 sacks by the end of the year and you’re sitting there as a general manager looking at your books and you’re going, “Oh, we have to pay him that same amount next year.” Well, we can’t do that. you know. So, so that’s that’s the realistic these are the app this is how things work in the NFL and so I think it’s a fair question to bring up. All right. Now, the next question uh which we’ll get to after this break has to do with all right, how do they fix this pass rush? How do they get more out of this pass rush other than just hoping that Dioa Dangbo who by the way is also getting paid really really well. Um and Montaswat can actually get to the quarterback. We will uh we’ll talk about that coming up next. But first, whatever the sport, the app to bet is Circus Sports Illinois. Circus Sports. It’s sports betting the way it should be. I mean, last night the picks are in. We got Greg Braggs. We got Stephen Nicholas hanging out with Derek Stevens. They look like they’re having a blast. Uh, it’s rare that I ever have FOMO, but when you get Derek Stevens, when you get circa, when you get Circus Swim, when you get gambling, um, that’s a good job by Gregory. That’s a good job by Stephen. Congratulations. I’m assum I didn’t see I they they post any of their wagers. They bet the cubby. I don’t know about that. Not sure, but they were definitely hanging out there. Circus Sports is awesome. And here in Illinois, Circus Sports Illinois has high betting limits, low holds, and exceptional customer service. That would be the San Diego Padres’s. No trophy for you. And look, they probably were drinking some terrible, soft, miserable cola on the way home yesterday. Soda used to have some kick. Now it’s about the pretty colors like those Padre uniforms. Yeah, they ain’t gonna get it done. RC Cola, not just a soft drink, just damn good cola. The original cola that doesn’t fold under pressure like the pods did. RC, the OG cola in a world of spineless soft drinks. That’s like a Manny Machado cola right there. The old the former colas. RC, you know who that is? That’s PCA getting three hits in a big game. RC Cola tastes like a punch of the thirst. Do yourself a favor, grab some RC at a local store. Stock up for the Cubby playoffs. Bears off the buy. Anything you’re doing, RC is the move for whatever you are doing. RC Cola, not just a soft drink. Just damn good Cola. Kind of feel bad a little bit for uh a Patrick Finley. Padres’s fan. Big Padres’s fan. You know, he had it set up perfectly. Three games at Wrigley, then two in Milwaukee right up the road. For for for a fan of a San Diego team, you can’t get it much better than that. But sorry, Cubs. Look, Hogue, 1984, 11 years old, up two games to none. I had never I had never had sports hurt in my life. Steve Garvey and the San Diego Padres’s did it to me. And this is not I don’t think we avenged that yesterday with the division series because that one sent you to the World Series. Yeah. Uh, but I don’t feel bad for Pat Finley. Good effort. See you later. Okay, fair enough. By the way, I didn’t I and I didn’t mean to wear Padres’s colors today, by the way, which is Caramel’s Caramel’s got a big game against Montini tonight. Okay, relax. I was rooting for the Cubs last night. Don’t look at me like that. Okay. If you were rooting for the Cubs last night, it’s cuz you were rooting for CHGO Cubs. Yes. best. Okay, thousand%. Okay, that’s fine. We Good job, Luke. Good job, Joey. Good job, Sarah. Good job, team. Check out They’re doing phenomenal coverage. Check it out. Keep winning, please. Let’s go. Yeah. All right. Uh, next up in our Die Hard Q&A today, we got Frothy. Frothy’s wondering, “How far away is this roster from being true contenders? and is it more development or personnel holding them back? Second question, what are the potential options for adding an elite pass rusher after the season? And will the signings of Dio and Sweat prevent the Bears from making such a move? I’m going to address the second part of this question first. Um because and and yeah, the answer is kind of yes because like if you were to say right now like the Bengals are calling you and like hey you want Trey Hendrickson to bring on a third pass rusher at that money cuz same thing you’d want to sign him to a long-term deal too if you made that. Um that’s a lot. That’s that’s just that’s a lot. So, the answer to that question is to finally draft one. Correct. First round. You could have done it this year. Mel Williams was sitting there. You went with a tight end. Okay. But that has to be towards the top of your list going into next off season, drafting an actual legitimate edge rusher. Um because then you get them on the cheap. I think that’s the answer to that. Yeah. Look, do you remember that? You remember this the the Bears used to have this really thin defensive end who didn’t work out particularly well here, but like after he left here, he’s just gotten sack after sack after sack and he’s been available. Uh, you know, year after year after year in free agency and the Bears just have never considered bringing Leonard Floyd back. Uh that’s just kind of annoying to me because like you keep on taking swings on Yanuk and Gwe and now Dio and anyway the guy’s had a very good career uh to but to look they haven’t hit on him when they’ve drafted him. They haven’t hit on him really when they’ve gone into free agents either with the exception of Khil Mack uh you know for for five seconds when he was healthy and dominated the you know was just an absolute force when he rigly got to Chicago. So look to what we said in the first part of it. Yeah. Uh, you could let go to Montes. Dio’s going to be here one more year. Uh, but ultimately Ryan Poles, it’s what you get paid for. Draft somebody who can get to the QB. They’re out there every year. I don’t know who it is, but there’s I guarantee somebody in that draft is going to be impacting the NFL game that way next year. You just got to find them. Yeah. And then the first part of that question, which was, you know, what’s holding the team back more, development, the lack of development or um just personnel? I mean, it’s kind of the same thing, but you know, I think it’s a combination of some draft capital that’s been traded away and salary cap space that’s been invested in some guys that are not giving you the value on that. But I also think the development part of it is key, too, because I’m I and I think my hope is you’ll start to see more of that development happening under a better coaching staff. And I think you are seeing it offensively with Caleb Williams and Roman Dunay to name a couple guys right now. Um but and I think even on that offensive line, I think Dan Dan Roshar is having an impact as well. But it it still feels like at times you wasted like three years worth of draft capital in guys that didn’t really develop the way you wanted to. And even in some cases where you’re like, “Oh, Kyler Gordon did and he’s just dealing with these injuries.” So, it’s I don’t know. It’s sort of it’s it’s sort of all of the above. But when you have a guy like especially I look at second round picks, second round picks are guys you expect to start for you, but they’re not elite enough to go in the first round. So, that takes development. Third rounders have just been sort of a disaster for Ryan Poles, you know, and they’re not developing enough of those guys. And if Tyler Scott didn’t take off, I mean, we can go on and on and on. The point is there has not been enough development. And the hope is that this coaching staff gets more of that out of these guys, but it’s still too early to really know if that’s going to be a consistent thing. Yeah. Look, this is what good organizations do. They they they draft players and they develop them and they develop them and they also find diamonds in the rough and they develop them. So Dan Rocher, let’s start with that part of what you just said. Hog seems to have made a very positive impact since since he arrived here. Okay. Who’s he developing? Well, he’s he’s developing the undrafted guy Theo Benedict. And Luke Newman, the sixth round pick, seems to have made some significant strides at least to play guard. And they tried him at center and that wasn’t even a part of development. Oh, he can’t do that right now. He’s completely uncomfortable. So, they figured out what he can do and what he can’t do. That’s a good job coaching. Now, then you look at, well, what else happened? Well, the third round pick got hurt and and never really advanced when he started to make some level of of of movement. Karan got dinged up in training camp and then he got dinged up again. That’s that’s that’s a that’s a double whammy. No development and and a bad pick at this point at least. Um, and then you know, you you look around at other higher draft picks and when when they don’t get better, you have to look at that as as the general manager. Blake just puts it a good one. Tyler Scott was a fourth round pick. Bis was a third round pick. Okay. Now, could you have developed those guys? Could Tyler Scott have developed? I like to think he could have, but then I also you got what what is he doing elsewhere right now? Not a whole lot in Indianapolis. Bailis hasn’t done anything since he left. So, when you see multiple coaching staffs not to be able to get something out of a guy, then you got to point at the GM and said, “Dude, these guys weren’t developed here. They weren’t developed elsewhere. Is a bad pick.” So, I And to the overall question, do I think there’s enough talent on the roster? I think there’s enough talent on the roster to be a, you know, a fringe playoff team, but you need some big time players if you’re talking about really winning a Super Bowl here. You need or some massive development, which is possible, but they’re not there yet. All right, Kayla, let’s go to the next question. Surprise this year. Where are we going? We got HD Cantona. Outside of Benedict, who who do you think that currently isn’t getting many snaps could become a starter on merit by season’s end? It’s a great question. Love this question. Karm, you got one off the top of your head? Well, I mean, the easy one to to point to is like, could Coloulston Lovelin really emerge as a as your starting tight end? Um, you know, if they’re just if you’re just playing, you know, a one tight end set. So, that that’s the easy answer off the top of Where are you going? Well, that wasn’t going to be my answer. Okay. Okay. Yeah. So, but that’s but that’s the thing, too. Like, because I don’t I like it’s it’s really not that easy of a question because likeh other than Lovelin, I’m not sure who you could point to. Here’s the thing. I actually do think it’s an easy answer. I I think it’s you had three first round picks. One of those guys needs develop to be a starter. I’m sorry, three second round picks. I forget what I just said. I’m losing my mind. It’s been the end. It’s the end of a long week. Uh but I’m going to I’m going to group Lovelin into into that. So you had four picks in the top two rounds. None of them right now are starters. Which one can do that? And ideally two of them do because this is this is exactly what we just got done talking about in the last question. Draft and develop by the end of this season. Can Azie Trapillo either show enough that they can actually play him at left tackle where he didn’t work out in camp or enough that they’re like all right we got to do the nuclear option and move Darnell right over to left. Let him compete with Theo and Azie. we need Azie on the field because we like him. Now, I actually thought Azy’s debut the other day was pretty encouraging when it was all said and done, especially when you consider who he was going up against. So, I think that’s a a potential answer to this question as well. Shamar Turner seems like a long shot um to to fully become a starter. Also, defensive line’s a little bit different because there’s they’re always rotating. uh like I think you would consider Gavon Dexter and Andrew Billings like kind of co-starters right now regardless of who’s actually on the field first. Um so you look at that more like in terms of snap count and then I don’t know Luther Burden it seems like a stretch or it would take some injuries for him to actually be considered a starter but you still want to get more usage out of him by the time the season’s over. Yeah. Uh Luther I don’t think anyone would argue has the most talent but he also has the most talent in front of him too. And then could Azie Trapillo be a starter I suppose but I wouldn’t bet on it. Uh and Shamar Turner you’re going to need a lot more to you know stay healthy and be able to push from there. But like is that possible? Yeah because Grady is is injured and Billings didn’t make it through last year. So, he might be there’s potential that he could be a starter by default. Now, if he actually earns it, Ryan Poles, you’re the man. That would be a big time that would be a big time accomplishment. By the way, Dr. Truth, thank you so much for that comment. The last comment we had up there because it just triggered something I had in my notes that I have not said this week. I really thought I had exhausted everything, but I never got to this. So, the comment was about Azie Trapill being a little bit worried about his kickstep. Karm, not that you’re going to do this, but if you were to go back and watch the end zone angles of Theo Benedict, that dude’s kickstep is outstanding. Outstanding kickstep. I agree. There there was one rep when he was still playing right tackle where Crosby was lined up really wide, like wide 99999, and he got so deep back there. and and Crosby is always trying to get you to overstep so he can come back in. And Theo played it great. So, I hadn’t had a chance to mention that this week, but that really stood out on a tape in that game. Dr. Truth, look at you busting out a kickstep out of nowhere and getting Hogue into a whole another level for the show. That’s the contribution that we’re looking for. Dr. Truth, that’s the truth. That is the truth. Also, by the way, Motor Music, my guy, our guy on his lunch break visiting us in Vegas. Hogue. Rumor has it it’s Motor Music Michael’s birthday today. Oh wow. It’s a It’s a big time day. Sahara’s gonna come with the special Friday night extravaganza, dinner, and more. Let’s go, motor. So, congrat dinner. We had a good dinner on Sunday night after the game. I’ll say that. So, we did. You almost paid for my dinner. Oh, that’s right. Well, that was your bar tab. You caused a lot of stress to that bartender. Karm karm bad bad job by Karm, but we we we made it right. Um the bartender disappeared. I was I had a little couple too many cocktails. My judgment in the moment was not great. Uh but we were going to make I’m going to play poker. I And And I did. Where Karm go? Bartender, where where’ that guy go? I’m right over there. I’ll be right back. I just I’m trying to tell this guy. I’m like, look, I know you don’t know me and you can’t trust me, but let me tell you one thing. If I know that man, he definitely is going to be good for this bar tab one way or the other. I you do not need to be stressing out about it. And we’re not leaving. And and Motor Music Michael picked up the tab, which was And I of course paid him back. But um I think he tipped huge though. I don’t I think he lost money on the deal cuz he’s just a big tipper, which I feel bad about. Let me know. Motor music, I probably owe you 10 bucks. It’s a bad job. All right. No, we we were we were I I mean I was just taking notes on the ball.net and how I need to sign up at eye ontheball.net because I do want to coach and I want to give back and I want to make some extra dough. So if you want to like send me James, I I’ll you know I’ll give you we can do that one on the side actually. Okay. Say you can’t teach tennis to James. You need you need my expertise. That’s not your game. You can do everything else. Just give me I don’t No, he he needs hockey right now. Okay, fine. Then I’ll then then we’ll give then give him to Jackie because you don’t know that either. Well, I don’t I’m not claiming to. No, no, no, no. Actually, keep it in the family over here. You actually do need I actually now I think about it. Jackie does need to work with him. It’s one-stop shop. Yep. All right. Uh let’s get to our next question here and then we’re going to talk a little bit about the weekend as well. Some of the games going on. Uh do you be a big weekend for how the NFC North shapes up? But first, um Mr. Frier, is that how we can say it? Why do I never get this one? Karm, I call him McFarrier, which is definitely not it. So, okay, Mr. Frier is is wonderful. Well, let me just say about Mr. Frier. He put like nine really long super questions in the Die Hard Discord this morning which I which I really appreciate. Uh they were all as if we were in January already. Like he wants to know who’s replacing the Dline coach. Um he wants I’m like what’s going I’m not firing coaches on October 3rd here. Anyway, here’s the question. We know there were a few highly sought-after running backs in the last draft we are interested in, but for various reasons, we didn’t land them and our running back is still a position of need. If the same thing happens in the coming draft and we don’t wind up drafting a high expectation upside running back, is there any concern that Eric Benemy leaves the coaching staff? See what I’m talking about, Karm? Yeah. Uh I mean, he he’s already thinking about decisions that are made after the next draft. Well, well, first of all, let’s not bury the leader. Mr. Frier, if memory serves, contacted the bar that we were at on Friday night in Las Vegas, somehow got to the bartender and bought us a round. And I don’t think that round and I don’t think that round was cheap for the record. We never we never uh told that story, did we? I don’t know what happened. No, I don’t think we have. At least I not when I’ve been on the show, but all of a sudden Frier was talking to the bartender and like we had to like verify Vic Frier, Mr. Frier, if you’re watching right now, verify this happened because I am remembering this correctly. And everybody had, you know, had an oldfashioned or whatever it was. The dude took care of us in a big time way. That was super nice. That the bartender literally like was like, “Is one of you Mark? Is one of you Adam?” And we’re like, “Yes.” like there’s somebody on the phone that wants to buy you a drink. We don’t do this, but we’re It happened. It was awesome. So, we greatly appreciate it, which is why I wanted to get at least one of your questions in here. And I’m just obviously having fun with looking ahead to the offseason. But I will I I will give this advice to fans as much as possible. And it is the bye-week, but try to be where your feet are. Live through the season. And this actually has to do with the Cubs because Karm, you know, I’ve had this take for months and I’ve been annoyed with Cubs fans. The season’s over. Nothing’s going to happen. You just want a playoff series. Be happy about it. Sure. That’s all that’s a very fair reminder by you, Hog. Also, Mr. Farah sees the future. He’s got real concerns and he’s just, you know, he’s not he’s not willing to he’s not he doesn’t want second best. Uh, but to your to your point about Eric Benemy, mister, that’s not the that’s not the mindset of an EB. He looks at it like he’s just going to make who’s ever better who’s ever in front of him better. That’s that’s his goal. Like he is a coach’s coach. He’s a coachy coach coach. Uh I think he’s doing a great job with Kyle Manungi. For the record, I thought his last game was the best Manungai we’ve seen. So, and we didn’t mention Bonga when we talked about potential starters and it’s unlikely, but with how, you know, DeAndre Swift has not stayed healthy for an entire season, if you want to throw that into the mix, then absolutely Kyle Manungai could be that guy this year. I don’t I don’t think he’s going to pass him up, per se. But that it could h that could happen. So, uh I Yeah, I look, they need better. They need somebody else in that running back room. That running back room is going to look different next year. Bottom line. Yeah. I I also to answer the question about Venemy, I’m not worried about losing Eric Viene because of who’s in the room. You you lose a coach because he’s going to get a better opportunity and he takes that opportunity or he’s doing a bad job, which he’s not doing a bad job, and then you look to upgrade that coach. Um I will say this though about running back’s coaches with the Chicago Bears, they do tend to turn over quite a bit. So hopefully he can hold on to Eric Venemy, who I think is doing a good job at this point. Very good job. Um, and I also just I just I don’t I’m not saying the Bears don’t need to get better at running back, but I don’t find this to be that massive of a concern at this point. Really? No, I’m with Ben Johnson. I think it has way more to do with blocking it up. Okay. Um, I wouldn’t dispute that, but I would if they if they had a dynamic running back back there, uh, it this offense could really zoom to another level pretty fast if you actually I mean, sure, you got to block it, but if you threw like a Jir Gibbs back there, somebody of that ilk, even a whatever, give me Isaiah Pacheco when he was going well, somebody of that ilk, that that’s a different animal than what they have right now. Well, I’m not disputing that, but okay, then let’s combine two questions we’ve already sort of answered. If if I if it’s draft night and the best pass rusher and the best running backer on the board, who are you picking? Over the pass rusher. Yes. Yes. Of course. Of course. Of course. Thank you. So, my point is, where are you going to get that elite running back? In the second round, in in the third round. They’re out there. Come on. Uh I I mean I I kept went in the first round. Jir Gibbs went in the first round. Ashen Genty went in the first round. They are. But the one the ones you’re talking about the really the you know even Christian McAffrey back in the day who’s still dominated all the other ones. Jonathan Taylor was a second round pick. Come on. We can we can do this. There there’s Taylor’s a good one. But even Taylor, I I Dererick Henry was a second round pick. Where was uh where was where was a chain draft? That was a third round pick. Yeah. I mean, come on. You can get running back David M. I mean, even a David Montgomery at this point. That was a third round. Okay, but you’re talking about different tiers of running backs is my point. Okay. Well, which you’re kind of making my point is that you don’t need to draft one in the first round. That’s actually the point I’m trying to make. I’m That’s what I’m saying. Draft A Camaro in the third round. Draft the next one of him. It’s like I that’d be sweet. All right. I don’t even think that that P I don’t understand how why that position is that hard to draft for. Is he super fast and is he elusive and can run somebody over? I feel like that is not that can’t be that hard of a scout. because it’s vision is a hard thing and following your running lanes and not res, you know, just relying on your natural talent that all these running backs have had their entire life for every level of football. They can just run away from people. It’s a different thing. It’s It’s no And by the way, do you know who else was the second round pick? Go ahead. DeAndre Swift. Exactly. Fine. But when he like when he was a little bit younger and a little healthier, he he was a more productive dude. And to coffee and bears and everybody else who has said this, I wanted Scataboo. So did I. And by the way, talk about vision. The dude sat next to us and I saw his thighs and I’m like, that’s my vision. Draft that dude. He’s going to plow through these people. The guy’s huge and low to the ground. He’s going to be a problem. He is like a bowling ball. I’ve never seen a thigh like that. Like good god, they haven’t. It’s a great thigh. Just one or both of them? No, both. Both. Okay. They both were they were it was a great combo. I’m like, dude, I don’t know how you got those legs, but but you’ve been working and let’s go. Perfect. Bear scaboo. By the way, missed opportunity for you on your by week. We Where’s our Elijah Huzzy follow-up story? You want a Huzzy followup? Where is he? What’s he doing? Who’s he play for? I thought you were all in. He got hurt. He’s got an Achil He’s got a knee injury or an Achilles injury, whatever it is. I didn’t even know that. When When did that happen? It happened in training camp. He’s out for the year. I’ll follow up with the I I’ll get a Huzzy followup. And And And by the way, I’m working on another story that you don’t know about that’s going to be very interesting and have something to do with what you’re putting in the chat. Cornell Bryant trying to dunk on me with M. Jones’s performance last night. It actually underlines why I think that that the Bears have two good quarterbacks because look at what M. Jones was doing last night. Yeah, I think Tyson Beijing can have those level of performances if given a chance. Cornell, thank you for your $5 though. You need a You need a Beijing swear jar. Like he put it in the chat. He put five bucks in there. You There it is. And he paid his fine. You need to pay yours. I just answered his question. Guy tried to punk on me with Mac. Jones. Yeah. And shout out M. Jones. Good performance. All right, we’ll take our last break here. We’ll be right back. We’ll get you the rest of these questions. Talk about these the Lions and the Vikings. All right, Katie, let’s close out these questions. I think we have a couple more left and then we will talk about some of the games. Um, we can go in any order you want. So, here we go. Austin, our guy Austin jumping in here. The Bears went Karm, I thought you’d like this one. The Bears went 11 and five in Cutler’s second year in Chicago. This was 2010. He had a 60.4% completion percentage, 23 touchdowns, and 16 interceptions. That’s not great. 7.6 six yards per attempt. Uh knowing how excited fans were about Cutler when he arrived and the fact that they won a playoff game that year, do you think fans will be more or less optimistic about Caleb after year two than they were for Cutler? Karm, I’ll let you answer this. So, it’s going to be hard to top Cutler optimism because Bears fans, I mean, that was just an exhausting period in Bears history where I had to like, you know, having that that conversation. Jay, you’re never going to win with Jay Cutler. And Bears fans to this day will still say that they if Cutler hadn’t gotten hurt and yada yada. So I listen, people love Cuddy at that point. Um I do think that Caleb can pass uh that that love uh and I and I really believe that Caleb can pass Cutler as a quarterback with the Chicago Bears. But you are talking about pretty tall mountain right there. Pe people love Jay Cutler at that point. You’re talking about going to the playoffs drama winning the last playoff game. So, that’s not that’s not um it’s not going to be super easy for Caleb to get past that. I don’t know. Do you do you are you with me in my exact analysis of that one, Hog? Um am I remembering this correctly? I feel like I am. No, that’s I’m trying to put myself in like in making sure we’re not doing revisionist history. I think I think a key difference is the Bears going through um multiple first round picks before Caleb here. You know, we went through the Trabiscy thing. went through the Justin Fields thing. Caleb almost just seems like if it doesn’t work here, it’ll never work. Yeah. I don’t Well, I guess I guess what I’m saying is like the he’s just the latest and sort of the hype train that fans have already experienced where I feel like and I guess there was a little bit with Rex Gman who was also a high draft pick. But when Cutler got here, like some of the guys they had been starting at quarterback over the last like 20 years, I’m trying to think about who they would even be in today’s like who would be a comp in today’s like um who’s Kyle Orton back then? Who’s uh and I like Kyle Orton, but he’s a fourth round pick. You know, it’s almost like the Browns starting Dylan Gabriel this weekend. Good luck with that one. Um but hey, go beat Minnesota. That’d be sweet. Uh or the Saints start, you know, stuck with Spencer Rattler, right? Like I don’t I don’t know what to say, but it’s like when the Bears traded for Cutler, he was it was like we got this known commod commodity already because he he wasn’t just a rookie. He wasn’t just somebody just been drafted with all this hope. He was a a guy who had already made the Pro Bowl with with a ton of talent that just seemingly didn’t mesh with Josh McDaniels. and it was like the Broncos made this mistake. This couldn’t possibly be our mistake, right? So, it was just a I it’s not really an apples to apples comparison. Um, but I also think the hype for Caleb right now is still a ton. It’s just a different type of hype, I guess, is my point. I mean, every every Bears game that I go to, especially the one in Las Vegas, 18 zillion 18 jerseys. I mean, there that is by far the most popular jersey going on right now. So he’s I mean I do check them though just to make sure that there’s not one that has an Ororton on the back. Yeah. Look, if they if the Bears somehow find their way to nine and eight 10 and seven or let’s go crazy more than that, the Caleb hype will be more. That’s what it would take. All right, two more. Yeah. Which member, this is from JX Dirty. Which member of the CHCO Bears podcast could produce the most yards? They were dropped into an NFL game right now. Also, current and former NFL players are ineligible from the question. I think that’s a good good caveat there. So, I want to answer myself here, JX Dirty, but um I’ve got a partially torn Achilles and I’m 0 and4 in my tennis league and it’s just getting worse and I’m getting whipped. So, I’m I’m going to I actually don’t think it’s me, unfortunately. And so then it comes down to Hogue versus versus Stephen because Braggs is not an athlete and can’t walk. So he um so it’s not him. So now you got Hogue versus Stephen. Stephen lives in the gym every single day and is built like a bowling ball. Hogue, I think, is a better athlete than Stephen, but not in half the shape of Stephen. And so I think Hog would break in two if anybody touched him. So my answer long-winded here, Stephen Nicholas, you have a chance to pick up a couple of yards if blocked properly and you hand the ball. Plus, you’re complete lunatic and he would run his he wouldn’t worry about his health at all. He just keep going. So, um, I thought about this way too much this morning when I saw this question. Uh, and weirdly on the sidelines of a practice at House Hall a couple weeks ago, this question came up. Um, which was basically like if you got 20 carries in a game, how many yards would you be able to get like one single yard? Um, or or I forget what it was. Like maybe could you get 10 yards total or something like that? My answer right there in the moment, just so we’re perfectly clear, was no. No chance. No chance. Anybody who thinks they can, like the best case scenario is they block it up perfectly and you get a yard and a half before you get crushed because you’re just not fast enough quick enough. Your vision’s not going to be good enough to get through the hole and some linebacker is going to crush you and then you’re going to be dead. Um, so no chance you’re getting into 10 yards. However, this question is different. It’s not that specific. It just says who could get the most total yards. And I agree with you, Karm, with Stephen being in the gym as often as he is that he would hold up better once he got, you know, if he got hit, right, than I would. I I’m completely conceding that. The the problem is um and Bo Chanton brings up a good point too that John should be in this. He absolutely should. John’s is in there and he ain’t being Stephen. Okay. John’s got four kids. He’s dead. No chance. Absolutely not. No way. Well, really what this comes down to is um because because while Steven would survive the hit better than me, um the question is who would get more yards. So really what I think this comes down to is who is actually capable of catching the punt or the kick return because nobody’s getting yards on offense. Nobody is. I’m telling you that. Nobody’s getting yards on offense. It’s got to be a kick return where you get a Nobody’s coming at you at the catch and then you get as many yards as you possible before you die. That’s what this actually is. The answer is me. Because I would catch the ball. There’s no doubt in my mind. I teach this. I teach kids how to catch punts and kicks. I would catch the ball. I would roll. I would get at least 12 to 13 yards and then get murdered. But Stephen wouldn’t catch the ball, so you can’t get the yards. You spent 10 minutes when you could have just from the jump said, “It’s me.” Yeah, but that’s not as much fun. I mean, listen, you just made me rethink it because if that’s the game, if we’re just doing it like that, it’s a kickoff and it’s just about being insane, then I do think actually Greg Braggs is in the conversation because he he’s not catching that ball. I I’m not I’m not 100% certain that he can’t. I think he actually has some level of ability to do something like that. And what was if it rolled in to the thing is that he would be so hyped up on Jack Daniels and and and everything else that that and he he would take as many pain pills as possible that just it he wouldn’t think about the future and then he’d run like a complete lunatic. He’d have a chance. It’s an outside shot that he would give up literally would give up his life to do it. Okay, final question. You’re right, Katie. We spent too much time on that. That’s a good ask us anything question, though. So, thank you. Then there’s this one that came with a chart. I yell a lot. Good, good effort here. I yell a lot. This is heavily researched. I yell a lot. we appreciate. Last year, our run defense took a serious nose dive when Andrew Billings went down with an injury. This year, Andrew is back, but the run defense has not improved. Is the problem this year, the personnel, unfamiliarity with the scheme or attitude? And then here’s a table that shows how Dennis Allen’s defense have done when he was a defensive coordinator or a head coach. The results are all over the map. Um the best years though, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021 when he was the Saints defensive coordinator, they uh ranked second, fourth, fourth, and fourth in those years from a run defense perspective. When he took over as head coach, the defense run defense took a big dip. 18, 20th, 30, 31st. I like how some of them are just sort of estimates. Regardless, um, yeah, I I I think that this is really, to be honest, Karm, a a big product of missing TJ Edwards and Kyler Gordon right now. I I I because I they’re they’re just not fitting up these runs consistently enough. And I think having those guys back will make a big difference. Well, and that you just made a great point. Look, their leading tackler last couple years has been TJ. TJ’s the master of filling the gap and being being exactly where he’s supposed to be. Lance Briggs, uh, you know, on this show on Brick by Brick has been underlining the Bears are not in their gaps over and over and over again. So, ultimately, I I do think that there is a level of new scheme here that they’re not that that is changing and they haven’t perfected it, which makes the loss of TJ even more. you’re also taking uh Tmaine Edmonds and not playing him in the middle, playing him at the will. So like there there’s just a lot of different things going on right now. Noah Su in essence is a rookie out there playing. You know, he didn’t he’s set for the flu years. So there’s a lot of different moving parts, which is why, by the way, if you want to be optimistic about it, that it should get better because TJ is going to come back and get healthy. These guys are going to understand the scheme more. Dennis Allen’s not a The Bears do have a certain level, you know, there are there is there is talent on on there that the run game shouldn’t be run defense shouldn’t be this bad. Yeah. And I think like of all the all the problems that maybe you’re isolating here going in the by-week, whether it’s offense, defense, or special teams, I actually put run defense as one of the things that can be improved. Maybe I’m more optimistic can actually be improved as the season goes along. partially because the guys are getting back, partially because I think a lot of it is just scheme and, you know, being in the right place, following, reading your keys and getting there, shooting those gaps, coming downhill. Um, I don’t really think it’s attitude necessarily. I just think it’s practice and and I think that it can be fixed. whereas I look more at like, you know, is this going to be a team that ever starts racking up a crazy amount of sacks every game? Probably not with the personnel they got. So, but I I do think that the run defense uh could improve before the season’s over. All right, here’s what we’re going to do. We are going to talk about at least the Lions and the Vikings game. Uh we will make that part of overtime here coming up. Before I uh mention overtime, make sure you become a diehard. Hit that subscribe button, hit that like button. We got you covered uh with all of our sports. Of course, we’ll be back next week here on the Bear Show. But with this Cubs series starting up, great place to be. CHCO Cubs, become a diehard now. Now’s the best time to do it. All cho.comdiehard as we head to overtime. All right, Karm Vikings in the second of a backto back out there. They played in Ireland last week. Now they are in England. They’re playing London. They have the Cleveland Browns. So, I think Bears fans should be celebrating what’s going on in Minnesota. Uh, number one, you don’t celebrate people getting hurt, but JJ McCarthy being out is I mean, his development has just been super delayed now. Didn’t play at all last year, played one game, one and a half games. Now, you know, Carson Wentz has already thrown 66 passes that that in theory JJ could have learned from and gotten uh, you know, that himself and Kevin Okonnell on the same page. So that is to me that’s all good developments for the Bears and the Vikings also they’re super hurt right now. Starting center Ryan Kelly concussion backup center Michael Jurgens hamstring right tackle Brian O’Neal knee injury left guard Donovan Jackson wrist injury. So you’ve got guards moving to center to play. You’ve got undrafted rookies. Joe Huber, no one’s heard of him. He’s playing left guard. Justin School is going to be the right tackle. that’s, you know, started two games early this year at left tackle. Now they’re moving them over. Uh, and by the way, the Browns defense is insane. They their pass uh pass rush win rate is at the top of the NFL. Um, and their rush their run stop is is incredibly good. So, if you’re thinking about, you know, making a move on an underdog here, new quarterback, it’s a it’s bold to play the Browns always, but um, it’s a game Minnesota could lose it. if they were playing anybody good this week, they get smoked. But, uh, by the way, that kickoff’s at 8:30 on Sunday morning, too, for us getting to watch the rest of the NFL. So, I’m looking forward to it. But, uh, yeah, I don’t know. Um, you know, people talk the Vikings are banged up up front in a big time way, and Carson Wentz is their quarterback right now. That’s that’s a bad start to the year. Yeah, my advice would be to uh stay away from this game completely. There’s way too many variables, including the fact that it’s in London. But I I do take in everything you just said, Karma, and the fact that the Vikings are still three and a half point favorites despite all that and a really good Browns defense here. Um, plus I do think you get a little bit of a a new quarterback boost. It is very very very tempting to take the Browns. On the other hand, like I find it hard to believe the Vikings are going to lose both games out there. So, I don’t know. It’s tough. I could see the Vikings still pulling it out, but maybe only by a field goal. Are you with the Browns on the other side of the coin? Start not starting Shador. Yes. Let’s go. Let’s go Dylan. Okay. This is the most ridiculous thing ever. They they drafted one guy two rounds ahead of the other guy. Which one do you think he they think is better? Well, sure. Great. But in the It’s not more complicated than that. I understand. In the preseason though, Shadur had some moments and then he had some other moments. So, okay. We’ll see how he does. Um he Dylan Gabriel looks to me like he’s about 5 foot4. Uh, I’m gonna bet against that working. That’s just me. I I Well, I’m gonna I’m gonna bet against any of it working. Yeah. But I’m not surprised that they’re they’re go with Dyl Gabriel over the guy who’s doing fake interviews where he doesn’t talk. That’s good content. We should do more of those around here. That be a better It’d be a better show. Yeah. Um, and then, you know, Packers are on a buy. By the way, Detroit’s at Cincinnati this week. If we move on to the other game, um the Detroit’s a little banged up, too. DJ Reed was put on injured reserve. Um so he’s And then uh you know, guys that haven’t been back yet. Alien McNeel, they opened up the 21-day practice window. That’s that was an ACL tear if you remember back in December. Um you know, Cincinnati’s obviously got their quarterback issues. They should be calling up the Bears and asking for Tyson. I’ll put a fine in the shower for that one, Hogue. But, um, you know, it’s, uh, the Detroit and Minnesota both with winnable games this weekend, but I the Lions seem like a much more larger lock than than than the Vikings do. Yeah, I would I would think so, too. Uh, I’m sorry, did you say what the spread is on this one? We got three and a half if if memory serves. I did not put No. Lions, Bengals, I think. Am I wrong? No, the Lions are 10 and a halfeight favorites. Oh, whoops. Bengals have been horrible. Oh, Minnesota’s a three and a half point favorite. My bad. Yeah, Lions are a 10 and a half point favorite on the road. Have you watched the Bengals without Joe Burrow? I mean, that’s one game. That’s It’s two games. It’s been horrible. Yes. Okay. Uh my bad. Actually, it’s been three cuz they won the first one. They got hurt in they they they managed to beat the Jaguars and then they got murdered by the Vikings and then whoever they played last week. No, I’m off the top of my head. Burrow got Burrow got hurt in the Jaguar game, right? Okay. Yes. Um, yeah. Okay. Uh, no, Detroit’s winning this game. It’s just a matter of how much. Um, and I think I’ll take I think I’ll take the 10 and a half. I’m not I’m not going to argue against it. Detroit’s playing great football, but so they do have to go to Kansas City next week. Then they got the Bucks at home on Monday night and then they get their buy. A lot of winnable games here though. Then they get Minnesota at home then at Washington. But they do have to play Philly on the road. Okay, we don’t have to go through the whole Lion schedule, but uh Lions are in good shape to Lions Lions look pretty strong right now. Yeah. Yeah. Um, I think more importantly, if you can if you’re looking for reasons to get out of the the seller in the north, you should be looking at the Browns to knock off the Vikings and have the Vikings hold a two and three. All right, let’s get to some supers before we get out of here. Um, I know we got a couple. Let’s go. Cornell Bryant, $5. Who’s Oh, this is the one from earlier that Karm lost his mind over. Who’s better, Karm? Been or M. Jones? in August. Most people around these parts claim the Bears have the best backup quarterback in the league, right? Uh, you know, you know, Cornell Bryant, the the these trolling moments, they’re beneath you. You’re a better Cornell Bryant than that. We don’t have to we don’t have to dunk on Tyson because M. Jones had a good game. Let me tell you something. I am not wavering one damn bit that Tyson Beet’s going to be out of a quarterback in the NFL for some team other most likely than the Chicago Bears. So stick it in your Cornell Bryant. I don’t care what M. Jones did last night. And you should be happy the Bears have two good quarterbacks, Cornell. By the way, I remember you screaming about Justin Fields over and over and over again. So we’ll take apologies on whatever you screamed at us on that one, too. And I’m also, by the way, I’m rooting for Justin to play well for the for the 0 and4 Jets. He was quoted this week talking about there’s more important things than football. And he’s right. Kind of. Are you done yet? Sure. No, I’m done. Okay, Chev, $2. Who would you trade for a running back today? And at what cost? I’m not trading for a running back right now. I’ve already answered that eight times this week. I’d give up a six round pick for for somebody that they want to dump who’s better than what we have. Name a guy. Anybody want? I’ll I’ll do it. You want Nick Chub? No. Well, no. That’s one that might actually be available. Yeah. So, they could have had Nick Chub in the offseason. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. All right. No, no, no. And then, are we doing this? Oh, no. We got rid of that weird chim question. Okay. Um, wow. Katie’s Katie’s offering to mute Karma for $10 super chat. Fi final extravagad. What a way to go out for Katie. What a what a great dunk on. Yeah. Um Katie Duffy’s got one more show after this one. Fortunately for her because you don’t want to go out on this mess. Um so one more CA show bull show. This is a great show. Uh you’re not going to get 10 bucks though. Like Crystal’s the type that would throw a last one in here. She’s not going to give you 10 bucks for that cuz you know Crystal’s in the she’s on team car. I might. Um how do I do this thing? I’ll put in there. Crystal, by the way, back from Las Vegas and not feeling great. Won’t go into any further details than that, but it wasn’t from it. You know, it it wasn’t from the nap that she took in in in uh in Karm’s room. That was like a hippo violation. Karm, leave her alone. Ah, it’s fine. She’s she’s going it. Yes. Anybody Anybody else’s health? You want to update from Vegas? Oh, hippo violations. Come on. It’s not a hippo violation. She’s got the snipples. You’re a hippo violation. Yeah, she’s fine. All right, I’m going to end the show. It’s been a long week. Yes, Karm. No, I got I got nothing. I’ll Okay. Thank you, Katie. We’re going to miss you. Thank you so much for helping this week and always every time you’ve worked on the show. Katie Duffy, everybody, please show her your support. She’s been amazing. She’s moving on to an awesome opportunity. We’re all happy for her and we’re all going to cry in our sleep all weekend because we’re going to miss her. Appreciate you guys. Good things happen to good people. Katie, you you earned your next opportunity. Congratulations. And then, you know, miracles happen for some other people, but I won’t name names. Me. I can’t deal with this. I’ll only cry for a couple hours tonight, but I appreciate you guys. All right, thank you so much, Katie. We will be back on Monday at 100 pm. 1. I’m sorry. I like Austin booker, but why are we acting like he has done anything at all. Like he is so unproven. If no one else gets credit in preseason, why does he??

  2. The fact is this GM is inept and has done poorly in roster construction, consistently. That’s the problem. Hasn’t drafted a single pro bowler. Loveland might become a great player but no 5 win team is drafting a TE in the top 10. But the bears did 🤦‍♂️. Took a RT when we needed a LT (Ersery) and then that 2nd round pick doesn’t even dress down and it isn’t the 6th olineman. Absurd

  3. Sweat is just another bad signing by Poles and how about Nate Davis , how can Kevin Warren justify extending Poles !!! The McCaskeys are at it again hiring inept management !!

  4. 100% right on the last question about run defense. It’s about missing TJ and Kyler. TJ in the wil understands gaps. This whole defensive base of our “6” up front is a defense designed for Kyler to shine. Notice they have tried Byard in the Nickel and Owens at safety. He made. Huge tackle on 3rd down actually coming up through the gap on the play before the blocked kick. We have to have discipline at LB so Kyler can be a playmaker and we will be better
