1 MINUTE AGO! STEELERS CONSIDERING VETERAN WR TRADE WHILE BEING PERFECT FIT FOR STAR RB FROM SAINTS
You know, folks, I got to tell you what an absolutely bonkers week for the Steelers. First, that massive scare with Calvin Austin ending up in the hospital. I mean, the whole saga felt like a lifetime, but it looks like that nightmare might have a happy ending. Then, the buzz about trading for a veteran receiver starts heating up, moving the chains all across the NFL rumor mill. Next thing you know, a bomb drops involving Alvin Kamara. And to cap it all off, we get heavy news about Jaylen Warren. And just hold on to your seats. But before we dive into this insane breakdown, let me say one thing real quick. Smash that subscribe button. It’s free and it helps this hardcore fan community so much. Drop a like because YouTube won’t recommend this stuff unless they see the black and gold faithful are fired up. And let me know in the comments what you think about this wild ride of a team. Uh, and I’m going to start with this because when I saw Calvin Austin headed straight to the hospital over in Ireland, honestly, my blood ran cold. The whole scene was brutal. Everyone thought, “That’s it, man. We’re cooked. We’re losing the guy for weeks, maybe even longer.” And losing Austin right now, just as he was starting to click alongside DK Metaf, that would have been a total disaster for this offense. But then the unbelievable plot twist. It just broke. The test came back negative. No way he missed that much time. The X-rays were clean, and there’s a real chance he won’t miss any games after the by-week. That’s insane. That changes the entire conversation. We were all prepared to watch Scotty Miller or Ben Scorronic step up into a starting role. And let’s be real, nobody was confident in that. Those guys are fine. They play a role, but they’re not the reliable outlet we need when Metaf is double covered. And you know who everyone was talking about? Roman Wilson. The fan base wanted to see the kid get that opportunity, but so far he’s barely been targeted. Two balls all season, one sevenyard catch. That’s just too little. So, you got to ask, does Tomlin and the staff really trust him? I for one am completely torn because the talent is clearly there, but if the team doesn’t believe in him, what good is it? Now, imagine Austin actually comes back right away against the Browns after the buy, that would be a monumental relief because besides wide receiver, he’s our primary return man. And without him, the special teams were already going to struggle. The whole vibe in the locker room changes, too, because the team feels it when a playmaker like that is on the field. Come on, man. You can’t underestimate that impact. And look at the context. We’re 3-1 leading the division. The offense finally looked better against the Vikings and then the injury ghost threatens to derail our momentum. But now with this positive sign from the test, it looks like the win might be at our backs. Sure, we still have to see how he reacts in practice because nobody’s putting a guy out there unless he’s 100%. But just knowing it’s not a multi-week injury gives us an absurd boost. Honestly, I see this whole situation as a Super Bowl kind of inflection point. Either Austin proves he’s a fundamental piece and comes back strong or Roman Wilson finally gets a chance to show what he’s got. Either way, the fans aren’t taking excuses. This offense has to have options besides Metaf or we’re going to be brutalized in the big games. And get this, if Austin truly returns, it could even impact trade plans. Yeah. Because if the dude’s healthy, maybe the front office thinks twice before grabbing an immediate veteran reinforcement. But hold up, because the next bomb I’m dropping deals directly with that very topic. And now the chatter that started flying around is that the Steelers might be hunting for a veteran receiver. And this isn’t just noise either. Insider Matt Verdra put it out there that the front office is reportedly thinking about sending a seventhround pick to the Jaguars for Tim Patrick. Yeah, the same guy who shined in Denver and then became an important piece for the Lions. For anyone who forgot, Patrick had an insane 2020. 79 catches, 742 yards, six touchdowns. Then he suffered some rough injuries, missed two full seasons, but came back strong last year in Detroit, 33 catches, nearly 400 yards, three TDs. this year with the Jaguars, he’s a complete afterthought, playing only 22% of the snaps, and that’s where Pittsburgh could pounce on the opening. Now, the big question is, is he worth it? Man, I’m divided cuz on one hand, the offense needs depth, especially after the scare with Austin. But on the other, we’re talking about a 30-year-old veteran who’s battled two devastating injuries. You can’t just ignore that. Imagine spending a pick, even a low one, and the guy doesn’t produce. That would be infuriating. And look, if this trade goes down, his role would be crystal clear. Compliment DK Metaf because let’s face it, after Metaf, there’s nobody who genuinely scares an opposing defense. Austin could be that guy. But the injury put a huge bug in our ear. Everyone else is part of the blocking committee. Guys who help but don’t decide games. The harsh truth is we need someone to make defenses think twice. The crazy thing is Zach Aani, our receivers’s coach, said this week that the group is unselfish. Everyone accepts their role without complaint. Whether it’s blocking 40 times or catching 40 passes sounds great in a press conference, but the reality is we lack a secondary star. Metaf can’t carry the load alone. Fans can spot that weakness immediately. And the fan base is already split. Some folks think Tim Patrick would be a good, cheap, experienced, big body guy. Others are saying, “No, that’s a band-aid fix. We need to invest in a promising young talent, not a guy who’s already hit a ceiling.” I get both sides. To be honest with you guys, I’d rather see Roman Wilson get snaps before we clear a spot for a Journeyman veteran. But if the front office believes this team is ready to go deep this year, this is a classic win now move. And don’t forget, this whole thing hinges on Calvin Austin’s health. He’s the center of the whole equation. If he’s good, maybe there’s no trade. If he has another setback, then the panic button gets smashed and the phone rings in Jacksonville. But hey, I’m going to tell you something. As hot as this Patrick talk is, there’s an even bigger speculation about a player who would completely change the offense’s Super Bowl trajectory. And it’s this exact rumor that’s keeping the fan base up at night. It just exploded. And I’m dead serious. They’re putting Alvin Kamara’s name on the Steelers radar. That’s right. The Saints star running back, once one of the most feared players in the entire league, could end up in Pittsburgh. Just thinking about it gives me chills because this is one of those moves that changes the entire season. Here’s the context. The New Orleans Saints are completely imploding. The team can’t get it together. They’re lost. And when that happens, the front office usually starts a rebuild. And that’s when veteran stars become trade bait. Kamara, Olav, even Cameron Jordan all have been mentioned in rumors. But fanited nailed it. Kamara would be the perfect fit for the Steelers. And why perfect? Because honestly, Jaylen Warren just hasn’t been able to carry the load in Naji Harris’s absence. He fights, but he lacks the explosion to be a true RB1. Kamara, on the other hand, is the total package. Runs inside, catches, passes, runs receiver routes. He’s that guy the opposing defense can’t cover without leaving a massive hole somewhere else. And the detail that really hits hard, the franchise moment. We’ve got Aaron Rogers, but nobody guarantees he plays beyond this year. TJ Watt isn’t getting any younger. The Ravens and Bengals are decimated by injury. Man, this is the moment. If Pittsburgh wants to go allin, it’s now or never. The playoff window won’t stay open forever. The fans, of course, are losing their minds. Half of them are screaming, “Bring Kamar in now. This is it.” The other half is worried. How much is it going to cost? Does he still have any gas left in the tank? Because, let’s be honest, Kamar isn’t the 2018 monster anymore, but he still delivers way more than most. And if the trade is only for a mid-round draft pick, my friend, I’m signing that ticket right now. Imagine this offense. DK Metaf stretching the field. Calvin Austin healthy as a secondary threat. Kamara splitting snaps with Warren and catching short passes from Rogers. Holy cow. I don’t know how anyone wouldn’t be fired up about that scenario. That would be pure dynamite. Now think about the Saints side. The team is underwater. It makes no sense to hold on to an expensive veteran. Better to trade him, get a pick, and hand the ball to the young guys like Kendra Miller. It stings for their fans, but that’s the cycle of the NFL. The smell of a blockbuster trade is in the air, man. And even if it doesn’t happen, the mere fact that Pittsburgh is in this kind of speculation shows where the front office believes this team can go. They know this could be Rogers last dance. And hold tight because if that rumor has your head spinning, the next piece of news involves the other Steelers running back and it could completely change the backfield rotation. Listen up. Everyone saw that against the Vikings. Our running game finally exploded. Kenneth Gainwell ran for nearly 100 yards and two touchdowns. It was the best rushing performance of the season. But that show happened because Jaylen Warren, our starter, was scratched at the last minute. He knelt down in warm-ups, wasn’t 100%, and Tomlin decided to hold him out. Man, when they announced he was out, the stadium went into full-blown panic mode, and the chatter immediately started. Oh no, did we lose Warren for weeks? But nope, the good news just broke. According to Nick Farah, the concern level is low. The guy is expected to be back after the by-week, ready for the Browns game. In other words, it’s not a serious injury, just precaution. Phew, what a relief. To be completely honest with you guys, I actually thought it was the right decision. Um, Tomlin explained it well. There’s no point in putting a player out there only for him to leave midame and leave the team short-handed. um better to hold him out and make sure the knee recovers. And look, Warren is a warrior. He wanted to play, but the coaching staff wasn’t willing to risk it. That was maturity from the sidelines. Now, what does this mean for the immediate future? It means we could have a respectable two-headed monster backfield because Gainwell proved he can carry the load when needed. 99 yards, two TDs, dragging defenses on his back. And if Warren comes back healthy, we can rotate those two and confuse any defensive scheme. Fans are already talking about a two-headed monster, but slow down. It’s not all celebration. Warren, up until now, wasn’t exactly flying. Only 3.1 yards per carry, 132 total yards in three games, much lower than what you expect from a starter who just got a three-year contract extension. But the fault isn’t entirely his. No. The offensive line had three extremely weak games. The game against the Vikings was the exception. So before you throw shade at Warren, you got to call out the big boys on the O line. I see it this way. If the line finally locks in, Warren can regain his confidence. And with Gainwell as a relief valve, the running attack could become a central piece to lighten the load on Rogers because we can’t depend solely on his arm at 41 years old. We need balance. And another thing, having two highle backs could be a direct answer to that Kamar rumor because if Warren is healthy and Gainwell is rising, maybe the front office thinks twice before spending a pick and cap space on a veteran. Fans don’t want to see money wasted. Regardless, Warren’s return is crucial because without him, the rotation is severely limited. And most importantly, the guy has already proven he can be a great receiver, too, leading the team in receiving yards in two games. That opens up the playbook huge. So, keep those expectations high. Week six against the Browns could mark the return of a rejuvenated Warren ready to split carries with Gainwell and who knows create the most balanced offense we’ve seen in years. Man oh man look at what we just lived through. First the panic with Austin then the veteran receiver rumor right into the Kamara bomb and finally Warren ready to come back. This is a roller coaster without a seat belt folks. One day it feels like the Super Bowl sky’s is the limit. The next it feels like the whole stadium is going to crumble. But that’s exactly why I say it. The Steelers get into your soul. This team might implode, but it also has the potential to shut the entire league up. Now, it’s on you. There's Wilson but Steelers are dumb founded about him
I would spend that money on a number two receiver, as opposed to another running back. Which one is more valuable? I would say a number two receiver. You get behind playing Buffalo, Kansas City or the Chargers, another running back does you know good? We need another wide receiver to take pressure off of DK Metcalf.
Steelers1
No on young with potential. We already have that in Roman Wilson.
No to aging veteran, no Tim Patrick, no Odell.
We are supposed to be all in for a Super Run.
It’s Jacobi Meyers, it’s Davonte Smith, it’s Jaylen Waddle since Tyreek went down.
The dream is reuniting DK with disgruntled and underutilized AJ Brown. We’d have to give up Freiermuth plus high draft or worse, Highsmith, but the $$ saved in moving either of those contracts frees up $30 million per for 5 years, just like DK. He’d sign that. And that’s a SUPER BOWL LEVEL move.
don't want that reciever! not worth it
