Game in 10 | Canucks vs. Oilers Pre-Season Highlights (Oct. 3, 2025)
[Applause] They’ll be counted on this season to help solidify that defense. Marcus Patterson gets the puck to start and now Meyers on the other side of the ice. Bumped by Pod Coy. The assignment for the Patterson line to go up against McDavid. Company Besser backhands the puck back in. Archite Baines after it for Vancouver. Emerson stumbled and fell. Kane lost his stick in the process. as he was looking towards the official. But play goes on and the Oilers control in the bank of his own. Sharp angle shot as Ike Howard tried to fool Thatcher Demco who was having none of it as Besser tried to make a backhand pass. Comes through to Patterson. Feeds the line. Tyler Myers with a drive. Picker the save. Tomas through center. Stripped to the puck by Kane into the middle for Leraki. Moves in on the fence with a rush off. Fought off by Picker. And now it’s sent forward. Drew O’ Connor moves in on the left one, puts one in front. Flutter there tips it to the side. Now Sherwood Meyers shoots and that one off the stick of Trent Frederick and wide of the goal. A nice little pass to Coots who chips it free to Leer Macki ahead. Chance for a two-on-one. Meers in shoots and a glove save by Calvin Pickard moving it on Patterson. Passes back winds up passes to McDavid as Patterson sprawled to try to block a potential shot. now put in front and Deco another save again with the glove this time off the redirect in tight from Tomasic have Elias Person about to do the shot block but then when it’s moved towards the front toastic who’s battling gets his blade free but to the right point to Elias Patterson tried to send it back in Koulak got a piece of it here’s Besser across passes behind Kane who turns and might have caught the outside of the post the Kucks power play when you do that 131 you know you’re going to have a player up of side and that’s Kane who’s got a turn, spin, get it off the goalie and then off the outside of the Seavoy was blocked. Puck went in the air. They couldn’t find it, but now it’s sent out to center again. 5 seconds to go on the power play. Leer Mackey risked the puck back in. They didn’t give the Conucks a shot on the power play. Although clearly Kane did test picker. Here’s Leer Macki. scores [Applause] on the stick. Off the stick puck battle one by the Canucks after it bounces off the boards and then it’s going to be sent right across for Leer Mackey by Coops. The rookie gets another point. Leer Mackey gets another goal and the power play at the tail end gets the one- nothing lead. Chris Knoblock new three-year contract extension twice taking the Oiler now a shot stopped by Demco as Pot Coulson put it on goal. Hughes gets the puck Connor couldn’t move it out. Here’s McDavid in centers is stopped by Demco the icing. Well, McDavid and a dry settle against a tired bunch certainly go to work, but a wonderful stop there by Demco. And then no follow-up rebound because good defense in front of him. Kept that right arm up to allow the puck to hit him in the shoulder pad. Back home gave it away. Garland a sharp angle shot. And again, Picker keeping those shoulders up. Made the save. Here comes Tomasa. Tease it up. KN scores. Caspberry Kenan skated right into that slapper teed up by Tomasic and it’s 1-1. Oilers take off the other way. You can see the straight line skating and pushing the Canucks defense back in which allows Kappin to step into this one-time. Tamasic puts it right on a plate and grew up admiring Braden Coots brought up Braden Point as somebody whose game he likes. There’s a chance in front and Demco a left pad save on Seavoi being watched by Marcus Patterson. McDavid gloves the puck down moves to the blue line now dishes off Bard shot kicked out by Demco. rebound drive shuttle scores and Teddy Bluger slow to get up. Demco made a nice toe save on the initial shot by Boo Shark but dry settle on the rebound makes it two-1 Edmonton. Canucks had them to the outside. McDavid’s going to go up to try to draw people towards him and then he puts it across, gathered, saved, and then how many times has dry scored from that to position. Demco already down after the stop. Couldn’t get over in time. It was just too high over the glove. Heles come on to replace Patterson, but he couldn’t get to that puck. And here comes McDavid into the middle. Dry settle across. Demco sprawling save able to stop Trent Frederick. Top line for the Oilers trying to convert late in the second and Demco reaches across and again that glove stays just above the pad. He’s falling forward as Frederick gets it off the heel. It’s wobbling a little bit but that don’t discount that save. That is M tied up by Andrew Aani Patterson while dealing with that took the hit. It appeared shoulder to head from Pod Coulson and he’s gone to the dressing room and has not returned. Determined for a quick start to the per had some energy here to start but at the other end it’s De Bruski into the glove of Pickard. Track it down. Knocked ahead and then trying to get that last bit in front of Bousard. Shoulder down by De Brusk. Fights him off but and he wound up fanning on it. Hughes checked by Dryidle. Back to Bousard to the side. McDavid stopped by Demco who broke his stick and then he punched Sherwood in the back of the head. O’ Conor has the puck behind the goal. Drew O’ Conor looking back. Wrist shot off the side of the post. It sounded like Elias Patterson coming back. One hand on the stick. He tipped the pass away, but the Oilers keep it in. Mapani Bushard hit the post front of the net. Then a bomb that goes off the post crossbar area. Heronic. Hughes. Heronic fakes the shot. Quinn Hughes top of the circle. Heronic with a blast and moving to his right was Picker to make the save. The Oilers bounce the puck down the ice. One of the changes for Edmonton for this season is their forwards aren’t going to be as aggressive out on the points on their penalty kill. Garland just able to get past Nan Hopkins. feeds one back. Hughes back. He scores. Second of the game, third of the preeason. And Jonathan Leer Macki makes it 2-2 to shoot the puck, doesn’t he? And he’s really good at it. Puck battle one across Leaki. Look at the back foot for balance. And then the follow through right through Pickard. Set up by Quinn Hughes. And the Conucks on their power play tie the score. Now Sherwood tried to feed the line. He was taken down. Phil a little slow to get up as Hughes is stopped by Picker. Now Hughes has the puck. Quinn Hughes again. Nice shift finds some room and Vander fan on his one time attempt off the heel of his stick. Puck centered. Sherwood couldn’t take it cleanly. Now he’s checked and here comes Seavoi chasing after the puck. He’s got a step cutting on goal. Stopped by Demco. What speed there from Matt Seavoy. Hughes. Elias Patterson. Back to Hughes. Besser shoots. Picker the save to Brush. Stop the rebound. Dry saddle. Here’s a bullet from Besser. And then the rebound from the faceoff do shoots high and wide. Puck ricochets to the line. Hughes just kept it in. Oilers back to four on four now as Miapani steps out. Besser ripped that one just off the target. Kucks with the equalizing goal on a power play here in the third. Garland good job to keep that one in. Cuts in. Good backhander stuff by Pickers Mco after Connor Garland kept that one in. made his way to the front, but his backhander was stopped by. And that draws a reaction from the Vancouver bench as Tyler Meyers fearlessly blocked that shot. McDavid one last dash. They’re going to run out of time as Demco gloves that one to take the draw against Leon Dryidle. And Patterson wins it. Heronic has the puck. Hughes full 360 at center. Now Garland, who had two overtime goals last year, moves it. He had a couple. De Brusk had a couple for Vancouver. Heronic back to Garland. Cutting it on goal. Scores. Conor Garland saw the chance and he took it. And a deep to the forehand gives the Conucks a 3-2 win 90 seconds into overtime. Overtime. And then Garland is going to give it, get open, and go right down Broadway. Drive across the front of the net. Picker doesn’t get that left pad out at all as Garland drops the shoulder. That short stick of his, keeps it in near the feet and a forehand to the back of the net. What a game he’s had. And the Conucks pull this one out in OT. First of the preseason for Connor Garland.

Oilers are poised to 3-peat this year! I can feel it! ๐
Garly!
NEEDS TO BE ON PP1
What a way to end the pre-season, and I'm really impressed on how it went. Lekkermaki had a monster game tonight, Garly with the winner.
Let the 2025-26 Season begin! I have really high hopes, because we got Foote, and the Calder Cup winning Abbotsford players on our roster.
Garland deserved it. He attacked all night long.
Lekk's is looking good!
Garland literally undressing the Oilers
Thought the Canucks resigned Podkolzin ?
Another game, another rookie in waiting rising to the occasion. Who needs trades when we've got call-ups? The only hard part of Foote's decision on which of Lekkerimaki, Baines and Karlssen to keep up on winger is picking the one who was good enough but has to go down to Abbey anyways. At Centre he's got 3 rookies capable of filling the one spot open, so there we've got 2 guys who'll get sent down who deserve a spot on the roster. IMO if they have to send a deserving player down, probably go with Cootes as he's the youngest and will have plenty more chances to make it over the next few years. Sassen and Raty are ready, and getting to the point where they can't learn anything more in the AHL, it's time for them to face their make or break season in teh NHL, either they're ready, or we move on and that's where the other one and Cootes can come in as the insurance policies.
Willander needs some time in the A still. Chytil is good but neeeeds to stay healthy
Lekki becoming our very own Ovi, love to see it! What a great game. Love to see Garland's constant work ethic be rewarded as well. Demko looked really solid. I have a great feeling for this season boys!

Lekkermaki will definitely out score EP11.8
When Shorty is talking about a big play that just happened (EP40 defensive play, Tyler Myers block) but it didn't appear in the highlights, it's kind of annoying
With the Canucks over working Demko in the preseason, get ready for another early regular season long term injury, just sayin. Cheers. Triketacular.
