[McMen] Ayton on his preseason debut: “I wanted to show the team I’m more committed on the defensive end, more than offense… I’m not here for numbers. I’m just here for whatever the Lakers really want me to do.”

  1. Yall gotta chill. His connection with the team is still not there and he’s a lob threat, When and Luka and bron are back he’ll be better

  2. That’s really good to hear. Ayton still needs to be more involved himself more on defense especially in a game without Dončić and LeBron. It just makes the game easier for everyone.

Not worried. It was one pre-season game.

  3. Doesn’t mean he should brick layups and have 2 bad dribbling turnovers around the free throw line. (Great defense though).

BUT only 1 game and no Luka/LeBron to partner up with in the pnr.

  4. Best thing you can show on Day 1 with a team is your willingness to listen, communicate, and participate.

Chemistry, sets, plays, etc., come afterwards naturally if they continue the main things from Day 1.

  5. honestly not worried about the offense at all. Austin is great but for some reason he couldn’t get Ayton involved that much offensively speaking which is something im sure will be different with Luka.

he was great defensively last night, 2 blocks, 8 rebounds in like 18 minutes. that’s crazy

really excited for his first game with Luka!

  6. still one game and this is pre season save the f**king tears after a month if DA still doing this triple single.

  7. he really ain’t play bad, was impressed with his defense. mfs was makin it seem like he was a cone when he came here lol

  8. It’s the first preseason game, take it eaaaaaaaaaasy. His attitude so far and self awareness of his situation in the league, not mad at it.

  9. That’s what I would say lol but real talk he did look like a presence in the key on defense that altered some of their drives

  10. apparently on the main sub there are 5 stages of ayton by suns and blazer fans. im curious how fast this sub turns on him as the season goes by.

  11. not sweating a pre-season game… especially without Luka and Lebron. We didn’t bring Ayton to the team to be a number 1, 2 OR a number 3. Anything he brings that exceeds what we got from Hayes last season is already an improvement. All the Ayton haters (from Blazer land and Suns land) just need to calm down…cuz we don’t NEED him to perform like you needed him for y’all’s sorry ass teams 😂😂😂😂

  12. Isn’t this the best thing that can happen? Willing to finish plays but is more focused on defense?

If he averaged 8pts but made either 1st or 2nd team all defense, that’s a win. The lakers have enough scoring.

  13. I didn’t watch much of the game, but I’m heartened to see he had the best (least bad) plus minus on the team, in spite of not scoring. Hard to tell from a one game sample, but it sure looks like he was a defensive difference maker in the game.

  14. The amount of slander this dude is getting after ONE PRESEASON game is fucking ridiculous

  15. Why does he have to answer for a preseason game 💀

Our fans and the media really make this shit a circus.
