What year was our best chance to win it all?

  1. Looks like we need to win the division and get a bye and maybe we’ll win 3 series in a playoff for the first time.

  2. 4 appearances in the last 6 years to be fair, and 12 playoff spots in the fewest offered among MLB, NFL, NBA, MLS, and NHL.

  3. Last year was our best chance in recent times. Up 2-1 to the dodgers. Cranked out what 8 runs in the first few innings then absolutely crumbled for the remaining 16 innings offensively.

The Mets would have been tough but not as tough as the dodgers and the Yankees I think we would have decimated with our bullpen. We really had the easiest pathway after the dodgers.

  4. Honestly, looking at this, I’m like…our playoff history isn’t too bad. 7-9 in series?

Making the playoffs in the other hand…

  5. Last year (2024). In both 1998 and 1984 we got matched up with not just the best team in the league, but 2 of the best teams of all time. You could make all the adjustments in the world and we still weren’t winning those years.

Last year us and the Dodgers were the two best teams in baseball. I fully believe had we won that series, the Mets and Yankees weren’t gonna be able to stop us. There’s an argument for 2022, but I would say that we overperformed there and it would have been pretty tough to topple the Astros in the WS.

  6. Last year was our best chance. Truthfully. Our team had the stuff to win it all. And we lost to the eventual winners.

If we had beaten them, chances would have been good we take it all.

  7. As bad as it feels, it’s baseball. Go checkout the Dodgers season by season history… whole lot of “Lost in NLDS”. Postseason is a coin flip… buy yourself enough chances and odds are they’ll land your way eventually

  8. Thought. . . how about attempting to make some of the bullpen starters? And is really wise to hang our hat on Darvish and Cease?
