Lou Merloni Shares His Thoughts at the End of Red Sox Season

Well, that’s going to do it. Just want to thank everybody who uh rode along with this journey. You know, the season ups and downs. It was emotional. Are they a playoff team? Are they not? It’s just it’s it’s a baseball season and uh couldn’t do it without you guys, you know. But in the end, they just uh ran out of gas and got too thin. They got beat by a better team. You know, we always said Garrett Crochet gives you a chance, which is why you had a chance, right? The way he threw the baseball, but think about it. You get to a seven game series. What’s your rotation? Next round, fifth, fivegame series. Who’s throwing Saturday? Opener. You got to add an arm or two in these longer series in the postseason. Who would that be? I don’t even know. Meanwhile, they got Luis Heel still. They got Warren still. Like, Crochet gives you a chance. You play that Yankee team 10 times. How many of those games do you win without Garrett Crochet in them out? It’s just the reality of it. You had some kids up here who contributed. You liked what you saw. It was a successful season. Someone’s going to argue that it wasn’t. I I don’t know what that argument is. They made the playoffs. We all thought they should have made the playoffs. But you get kids up here early. Second full season throwing. Totally. Year one. It’s hard to do and it was tested with some injuries, but it was still a still a good year. We can get in the offseason all we want. Like I said before, this is 2016 version when it started with Price and Kimbell and then you went out and got sale and then you got JD Martinez. This is a build. This is where you’re at. But there’s a lot of things to like moving forward. In the end, you just fell short. Role players were fantastic. They’re role players. Nine guys in their lineup hit 20 home runs or more. You didn’t have that. Anyway, we’ll talk soon. Thanks again.

“Thank you Sox fans. You truly are the best.” ❤️

  1. Thank you Lou for your wrap up of the series..and the year….You should have a serious talk with the front office !!!!

    ❤❤❤❤⚾️⚾️⚾️⚾️⚾️❤❤❤❤

  2. Lou and Will were delightful additions to the various broadcasts. Loved both NESN and WEII . . . it was a great season, but sad to lose to the Yanqui's

  3. Definitely gonna be an interesting offseason. I expect either Duran or Abreu to be traded and possibly casas or yoshida. Wouldn’t mind keeping Lowe. Gotta keep bregman and get a number 2 starter

  4. Thank you Louuuu🙌🏽 God Bless You🙏🏾!! I know it won’t be easy and a Loooonngg shou but man would I love to see the Red Sox resign Bregman, Get Alonso and trade for Skenes !! What would trade look , what will get it done!! Mayer and Tolle maybe Duran since he is the odd man out with Anthony returning!! 🤔 what would get Skenes to Boston!!

  5. Perfectly said, Lou! Let's take a second to be sad the season is over, then let's celebrate a return to the playoffs and just how FUN this team was again, and regroup and go after the offseason and 2026.

  6. They were a playoff team of this era. Just like all the WC teams. Watered down playoff system, and they put so much effort into adding extra teams, that they play a 2 of 3. Yankees are not much better, and the real teams reside in the NL. Maybe Seattle could have a shot, but that's it.

  7. Spot on. Make the post season was the goal. They weren’t built for a deep run. They might have got by the first round before Anthony went down but with him out, Bello being a toss up and giolito out. They had to be perfect…and they weren’t, others stalled at the plate. Making that playoff push from July until now was the best the so and Fenway have been in years, it was fun and exciting and gives us all something to look forward to in the future

  8. The redsox beat the yankees 10 times this season, Lou, wake up sonny, they slumped at the wrong time, errors cost them that last short seroes,,lou ,what you ever done except flap your gums????

  9. Lou, I enjoyed your personality throughout this year, thanks! It was a good year, we were up and down and it was fun. This is a good team, hopefully we keep these guys together and add some depth to front rotation.
