The Chiefs are hitting their STRIDE at the PERFECT time…
I just thought of Ashton and drifted off to sleep, baby. Because he’s help he’s helping, you know, he’s bringing peace to the He is, man. That’s good. He’s kind of bridging that gap there, man. He’s put he’s putting things together, not taking them apart. Hey, that’s a that’s a tall task right there. I I’ll tell you this about Ashton Gelotti. He’s got a big heart, and I think the league sees it. No one wants it, but I think it’s coming to a theater near you. It’s coming. It’s finally exciting to talk about Chiefs football. You don’t You don’t think the dynasty runs over? I mean, that’s all we’ve heard, right? It’s just finished. Dude, they’ve been dancing on the fake grave of the Chiefs now for weeks. And look, Mahomes has had enough. I think when Mahomes gets Rashi Rice back and all these weapons, Mahomes is about to go scorched to earth. I think Patrick Mahomes has put himself in the MVP conversation already. I mean, you got a lot of mouths to feed. The only guy that hasn’t been able to eat so far this year. And and Terry, you work at Zarda. Maybe you can feed him. Everybody got to eat. You know what I’m saying? It’s great weather. Maybe you can feed him. Jason Brownley. I’m afraid when Rice comes back, we’re going to have to cut somebody and it may be Brownley because he’s yet to be able to even put up a stat. Don’t worry, we got a pile of burnins for him that you know. Let’s go. I’ll help him eat it. You know, so I don’t know if Andy gives it to us again. He He’s very mean like that. So, I think the Chiefs win comfortably, but I don’t think it’s crazy. Hey, I hope you guys are right and I’m completely wrong about this. That’s what I hope. Hey, here’s what we’re going to do. Whichever score of yours, whatever the real score is is the closest to you guys. The winner of that, one of you two is going to get a complete pack of the Casey takeaway sandwiches. Let’s go. Send you all the stuff you need to make them so you can build your own there. So, we’ll overnight that to you and you’ll have everything you need. So, there’s going to be one winner. We’ll send a huge sandwich pack with some sauce and some fun stuff. You’re listening to All Chief Up, the podcast, Chiefs Kingdom ACU crew. We’re here today with COO of the legendary Zarda Barbecue, Terry Hire. We’re going to talk about some football today. Some mouthwatering food and all kinds of fun stuff. So, stick around. How we doing today, gentlemen? Man, doing well. Doing well. Thanks for having me. Tell a little bit about yourself, Terry. How long you been with Zarda and what all you all got going on. I know you do a lot of stuff in the community in KC. Yeah, it’s been fun. So, I walked in the door at 15 years old uh back in 1980. Uh so, I’m an old guy now. I’ve been doing this 45 years at Zarta. You do really feel like, you know, when you hear people say, “I’ve never worked a day in my life.” In some measures, that’s true. And yeah, we’ve had the the joy of working with a lot of sports, a lot of community involvement, and doing what Kansas City does best, and that is that is barbecue. And uh you put you put sports together, Chiefs football and and barbecue in Kansas City. You’re in the toy department and everybody’s having fun. Absolutely. It goes hand in hand, right? It does, dude. Zarda’s always been awesome to us. Uh I talked to you on the phone about this. We do a chew with the crew every season. We’ll go down to camp and we do something at Zarda and we always rent out the back room there in the Blue Springs. Everybody gets together. We’ve done it three years in a row. So, next year, Terry, you’re going to have to swing by and hang out with us, man. I’m all about it. I when I learned that, I’m like, “Oh, you got to be kidding me, you know, and and what a cool tie into training camp with us doing uh, you know, training camp for 37 years, really dating back to Marty Shottenheimimer at Liberty Jewel, or William Juel, rather. What an incredible start to a 37-year run, uninterrupted even by the pandemic where we were actually literally handing food off to chefs uh to keep the tradition going. So, kind of crazy. I bet you got a bunch of good camp stories, don’t you? Man, I’ll tell you what, there are so many camp stories. And the NFL is a different deal today. You know, we talk about all the time. It’s it’s just getting bigger, bigger, bigger, and more business. But back with Marty, you know, we were in that era. We were literally on the sidelines with the coaches, with Gunther Cunningham, Marty Shottimer, watching these guys up close with the players. The players were coming over because we’d go up to River Falls and stay a full week. And so we’d watch practices after we fed them and the we got to know these guys. You got to be friends with these guys. And Joe Montana and Dave Craig are sitting on the sidelines talking to us. Coaches yelling at them to get back into the huddle and they’re like, “Hey, we’ll talk later. See you later.” And just, you know, just a really different era and so many stories. Yeah. I remember the Chiefs doing camp at River Falls and they used to do some split practices with the Vikes, the old Vikings. I remember that. And I remember when uh we were getting in fights with like Brock Lesnar when he tried to play some football. I remember some of that. I’m pretty sure unless my brain’s uh you know, scrambled that up in my mind. I’m getting a little older, Terry. I can’t remember things. I’ll tell you this, when Mike Dicka rolled in with the New Orleans Saints and they were having joint practices. I was standing on and it had gotten really chippy in in the morning session and so you’re right, they were doing two days. And so on the afternoon session, I’m standing on the sidelines with William Jackson, who was a reporter for I believe it was Channel 5 here in Kansas City. And he looked at me and he said, “Hey, this thing’s getting ready to get crazy.” And it was just a few minutes later, helmets were swinging, the benches had cleared, and a herd were coming toward us. And I mean, they were fighting, punching, rolling. Dick could put his team on the bus in uniform. Didn’t even stop to pass, go collect $200. They’re out of there. They load up on the bus. They had practice scheduled the next day. They didn’t eat dinner. We were set to feed them and they left town immediately. It was a It was a mess, dude. They missed out on some great barbecue is what they did. They did. Yeah. Hey, losers lose, Ditka. Losers lose. That’s right. Ran him right out of town. But yeah, we did a bunch of joint practices up there and would feed like the Vikings and you know, Randy Moss and all that. you know, specifically I remember Randy Moss. He wouldn’t leave the field signing autographs. I was impressed with that guy. That’s awesome. But, uh, and he’s a good dude off the field, too. We’ve done some stuff with him on Monday Night Football back in the day. And just just a good guy. Well, you have the Casey Takeaway going on right now with Ashton Gelotti. That sandwich looks insanely good. I’ve been wanting to drive eight hours to Casey just to get one. Yeah, we’re about to load up the car and and go, baby. I’ll tell you, it is a great sandwich. And you know, we’ve developed it over time and and that sandwich goes to help Big Brothers Big Sisters here in Kansas City. We’ve done one with the Royals in the same way, a different sandwich on the Casey Takeaway. We started that with Legarius Sneed and the name was developed with Legarius. You know, he said, “Let’s call it Casey Takeaway. That’s what our defense wants to do. I don’t want this to be about me or just one player.” And so that’s how the name came about. And then as as players came into this next Justin Reed, uh we’ve evolved the sandwich a little bit, but yeah, you’ve got burnins on the bottom. You’ve got a layer of pepper jack cheese, fresh pull pork, more pepper jack cheese, you’ve got some thin sliced ham with a dash of Cajun spice compliments of Justin Reed with a drizzle of Casey Classic sauce on a toasted Roma bun. That is a Casey takeaway. And I’ll tell you, it is a lot of sandwich and and it is very very popular. It’s a number one sandwich on our menu right now. That’s awesome, dude. It looks so good. Um I remember having the Legious Sneeed sandwich when we were at the Chew with the Crew probably two years ago. I think it was the year right before we lost him to Tennessee. Uh that kind of sucks. Maybe we’ll have a reunion with Legarius at some point, but we need one with Justin, too, man. Yeah, we do. We love Justin here, man. We’re huge Justin Reed fans. He was an awesome dude. Um, but yeah, I was watching the Ashton Gelotty video where he’s putting together the sandwich. He just keeps piling on the pepper jack, baby. I’m like, “This dude’s a cheese eater. He wants more cheese.” Yeah. And, you know, he’s he’s hilarious. You know, to be able to get him at 22 years old, he’s a rookie. And, you know, coming out of Louisville, big-time program. Uh, I I’ll tell you this about Ashton Gelotti. I think the kid’s going to be a great player. I really do. He’s got a a He does have a big motor. We all see that. But he’s got a big heart. I when he came out to help us do the sandwich and do some video and some stuff like that. I sat him down. I said, “Hey, look, we’re going to keep you to an hour. We got We’re going to get you in. We’re going to get you out. I definitely going to respect your time.” And he just real calmly, real chill, he just looks at me. He goes, “It’s my day off.” He goes, “I’m I’m good.” And I said, “Well, you know,” and I’m still trying to feel him out. I said, “Well, no, I understand that.” I said, “But we’re we’re gonna we’re gonna really get to it here.” and he goes, “I want to be here.” He goes, “This is something I want to do.” And he goes, “I I got as much time as we need today. Let’s just do it.” And he he he was true to it. Um super good heart. I think he’s actually going to sign up and be a big uh for a little in the in the program with uh Big Brothers Big Sisters, which you know, when you look at that whole program, they’re saying, “Hey, we want to uh ignite, empower, and defend the potential of a young person.” And I couldn’t think of anybody better to do that than Ashton Gelotti right now. And Legius and Justin were amazing. And we love both those guys. But for the torch to be handed off to Ashton Gelotti right now, it it’s super fun. Super fun. Steve will back me up on this. We’re from Kentucky. We’re from Louisville. Um so Ashton played right up the road from us. Probably 20 minutes from the stadium. That’s amazing. Um the thing is everybody in Kentucky is raised Kentucky Wildcat fans. There’s maybe a 10% of the state that likes Louisville Cardinals and they live in Louisville. So uh we, you know, when we drafted a Louisville player, me and Steve said, “Really? Come on now. But we knew Ashton and so we really like Ashton. And I’ll give Ashton a little bit of credit right now. The other day I had to sleep because my dog uh pulled the blanket off the bed. I had to just reach over and grab the first thing I could find and there was an old Louisville Cardinal blanket and I actually slept proudly with it. And I I can’t look I can’t admit that to all my UK friends, but I had to and just I just thought of Ashton and drifted off to sleep, baby. cuz he he’s help he’s helping, you know, it’s like the whole he’s bringing peace to the He is, man. That’s good. He’s kind of bridging that gap there, man. He’s putting he’s putting things together, not taking them apart. Hey, that’s a that’s a tall task right there. Very tall task, man. I love Ashton July, too. His mom’s actually on our ex account. She’ll say things every now and then. Looks like she raised an awesome kid. Just love him to death. And I hope he can get out there and really get some more snaps. And so far, he’s looking pretty dag on good. So, I’m excited about him. Well, and you mentioned his mom and and you know, I’ve I’ve had the opportunity to chat with her quite a little bit, you know, as we’ve kind of been working through this thing and and as I was kind of interviewing Ashton, you know, just talking about mentors, who’s been important to you, you know, in your life, I mean, the first person he mentioned was was his mom. He’s like, she has been my rock. She’s been my mentor and she’s been with me every step of the way. So, you know, there’s a great connection there. and, you know, he had that great foundation with her. Uh, he tells the story, you know, his dad, uh, you know, wasn’t always around and and whatnot, but his mom was just a rock through that process. So, yeah, she’s she’s important to him and and who he is today. That’s really awesome, man. Yeah, our rookie class is is great this year. I feel like VH might have knocked this one out of the park. Obviously, it’s yet to be seen. It’ll probably take a couple years to get the full grasp of what happened there, but I mean, Ashton’s awesome. And you know, before we started recording, you brought up uh Brashard Smith. I think that’s a guy that’s on everybody’s mind here in Casey. They want to see him get the ball more. How do you feel about that one, Terry? Well, I mean, you know, when you watch him, you you just know this guy’s a playmaker. And I think, you know, there’s football players and there’s playmakers. And I think when you look at Bashard, this guy may he makes plays. He’s patient, waiting for his crease to develop. He’s quick through it. This is a guy who was a wide receiver until his last year in college. He has great hands. He runs really good routes. I mean, he could be the best route running running back in in football. I mean, he’s very fluid. So, I think we are scratching the surface with a guy like that. And Andy Reid loves a good playmaker. He makes he get him in space, get him in the flow, and I think Bashard Smith, I think he’s going to be amazing down the stretch. Yeah, absolutely. I seen a chart yesterday and you know this is the time of the year that you get to see a lot of charts and and it’s not about what’s on the field, it’s about the charts Monday through Saturday. That’s what it’s about when when you’re when you’re a talking head, you’re an analyst, whatever. It’s about the charts. But this chart showed the offensive line in every gap and where we rated the best running the ball. And if you looked at the chart, it was green outside the tackles and inside the tackles. Specifically between Creed and Trey Smith, it was dark red, which means we are failing to run in the A gap. And so I was looking and trying to figure this out like why are we struggling so bad between our two best offensive linemen? Yeah. And so I find another stat that says the Chiefs only do good on zone run schemes and not gap schemes when it comes to lineman blocking. And so I put that together and I said, “Look, Pacheco’s having trouble seeing the hole.” And I think he has trouble reading the zone blocks. I think he’s more of a gap. It goes to a specific place and that’s where Pacheco dominates. And I think if the the Chiefs and Annie Reed, they always want to run zone. They’re a zone blocking team. That’s where they all grade the highest. not gap blocking, it’s zone blocking. Bashard Smith can read better than Pacheco at this early stage in his career, I believe, from what I’ve seen on the All 22 film. I’d like to know what you think about that. Well, I mean, again, I think you just the eye test is is part of it, you know, and when you see you can see a guy and the patience that they take in the hole, I do think he has that thing we call field vision, you know, he’s got that vision and and I, you know, some of that is just innate. I mean, you coach it. um those guys work on it all the time, but to see that to have that patience and and to be able on the field and do that in real time, that’s just somewhat of a gift. And I and I think some guys have it and some guys don’t and to varying degrees. But I yeah, I think that’s a separator. Bashard is a playmaker because he’s got the vision. He can almost sense when he needs to hesitate and wait for that crease to develop and then he’s through the hole. We saw him on the sidelines tiptoeing and tap dancing and and gaining an extra seven, eight, nine yards. That’s huge. And so for this offense and and listen, they’re going to have a huge test against the Jaguars. I mean, I think at first glance you’re like, “Oh, it’s the Jaguars.” I get it. But defensively, that is a very good football team. This is going to be a good test for a team coming off a great win like they did with the Ravens and the offensive dominance really that you saw for the Chiefs going up against the Jaguars uh at their place. I think that’s a that’s another test and I think the Chiefs are up for it, but it’s it’s going to be a challenge, you know, to see how they attack that defense. Absolutely. It’s going to be a good one on Monday night, too. But yeah, let’s change gears over to the Jaguars. Obviously, the Chiefs had a phenomenal game against the Ravens and the Arrowhead. Hopefully that got some momentum going behind them and a little fire lit in those guys and they can continue to uh have that rolling into Monday Night Football with the Jaguars. But the Jaguars, as you mentioned, they’re pretty good football team this season. They’re three and one right now, sitting second place in the AFC South right behind the Colts. They have beat the Panthers, uh the Houston Texans, and the 49ers. They did take a L to the Bengals, but that was when Joe Burrow was still playing. But Trevor Lawrence is doing pretty well this season. He has thrown four picks though, so I think he’s vulnerable as far as turnovers go. Travis ETN’s been there, star player right now. He’s absolutely been going insane. I think it’s going to be a great game. So, let’s talk about that a little bit. Mike, what about you, man? How are you feeling about going into this game uh after coming off of that victory against the Ravens? Yeah, I’m excited about it. I look, I’m excited. I’ve said this all week long. I’m It’s finally exciting to talk about Chiefs football. It’s not no more what’s happening, what’s this, what’s that. We’re two weeks out from getting Rasheed Rice back. Xavier Worthy coming back last week was a huge spark. You could see how much he meant to Andy Reid, Naggie in that offense. And look, I talked about this. You don’t think the era is over. You don’t you don’t think the dynasty runs over. I mean, that’s all we’ve heard, right? It’s finished. Dude, they’ve been dancing on the uh on the fake grave of the Chiefs now for weeks. And look, Mahomes has had enough. I think when Mahomes gets Rashi Rice back and all these weapons, let’s all keep our fingers crossed that nothing happens in the next two weeks and we can get these guys on the field together. Mahomes is about to go scorched to earth. And honestly, looking at his stats right now, the dude’s got one pick and it’s because Travis Kelce flipped the ball to the other team because he didn’t get his head around and he’s got nine 10 touchdowns. I think Patrick Mahomes has put himself in the in the MVP conversation already. And if we can if we can chunk off a big streak here, uh it’s it’s going to be a good season for Mahomes and the Chiefs. I think they were prematurely, you know, hoping for the downfall here. It’s not happening. Hey man, every year we hear the Chargers are going to be, you know, taking the crown. We’ve heard Denver’s going to take the crown, Shawn Payeyton, and we do have a hard division. We got a lot of great coaches in the division. But I mean, you know, look, when you have success, we everyone said this, everybody wants to come at you and everyone, you know, gets tired of your success and your winning. The Patriots always talk about it and and understand where the Chiefs have been, but but I do think that this football team continues to find ways to reinvent itself. And, you know, last season was a grind. I mean, we saw it. You know, you weren’t winning by great margins. That was a grind, but you still made it to the Super Bowl. That didn’t go well. and the the beginning of the season didn’t feel good, but all of a sudden you’re seeing these pieces come together and you’re like, “Okay, Rashi Rice is gonna come back. Patrick Mahomes is starting to throw darts.” I do think Scorcher at this probably, you know, the revenge tour may still be available and but this team’s built on defense and offense, special teams. I think, you know, you’re seeing return the return game really start to to to click. And so, I think the league’s starting to sweat a little bit. I would say we might want to slow the roll down on anointing the Chargers as a division winner. I I think this thing’s in reverse and I think the Chiefs right now uh are putting some stuff together and I think the league sees it. No one wants it, but I think it’s coming to a theater near you. It’s coming. Absolutely. I think they fear it a little bit. They just don’t want to admit it. But yeah, they had a slow start to the season. Of course, coming off that Super Bowl loss, everybody was hoping for the downfall. Maybe this is it. They can finally get rid of the Chiefs. uh not freaking happening, man. Like you mentioned, I think they’ve set themselves up pretty nicely uh for how the rest of this season could go. Two and twos is like literally the best we could ask for at the moment considering how things have gone and and as you mentioned, some of the other guys in the AFC West took some L’s the other day and made it wide open for everybody, man. But, uh going into this game, uh as Mike just mentioned, I think Patrick Mahomes is just in the in the zone right now. So, I’m really hoping to see that passing attack keep uh improving, especially with just what two weeks away from getting Rasheed Rice back as you mentioned as well. But how about Taekquin Thornton? I feel like this kid u we can’t say enough about what he’s been able to do. Obviously, getting drafted in the second round to the Patriots. Didn’t really do much over there. Of course, his quarterback kind of sucked and the offense wasn’t good. Uh what a steal does Stash on the practice squad last year. He’s really showing out. Do do you think we’ll see more of him uh this week than we did last week or do you think he’s kind of taking a backseat to Xavier Worthy and then also going forward when we do get Rasheed Rice back? Do you think Taekwon will still play a role in the offense? Well, I mean from my standpoint I mean you got a lot of mouths to feed and I think one of the advantages that you’ve had with Rashi Rice being gone if you want to look at it that way is the development of Thornton and I think the development of some of these other receivers. And so I I I think in that sense, Guju is playing extremely well. He’s always in the right spot. He makes the tough catch. He gets that first down. And then you’ve got Thornton who’s a a big threat along with Xavier Worthy. There’s so many miles to feed. And so when Rashi Rice comes back, we know what he does with the ball in his hands. He’s that explosive playmaker, but so is Thornton. So, you know, I think Thornton probably doesn’t have the volume that he’s had maybe in the early part of the season, but I I think he’s obviously he’s a weapon. Travis Kelce said, I don’t know how he got out of New England, but we’re sure glad he’s here. And I and I think everybody sees that this guy is a football player. He’s not going away. I mean, when Noah Cameron came up for the Royals this year and started pitching, he never went back. He was he was a big league player. Thornton is a he’s a he’s a NFL player. This guy’s no not going anywhere, right? I thought Thornton looked uh I mean he’s looked amazing compared to what you usually get out of the camp darlings, right? Like you usually get those camp darlings every year and we’re like ah nothing happens. I mean we had LRZ. This guy went back to rugby like okay and then look Thornton comes out and everybody’s like it’s time. It’s time. And he just kept building, kept building. We kept saying every day on this podcast he’s got to go out there and take every advantage, every rep, every snap. He’s got to build build build and he’s not looked back. And I think his chemistry with Mahomes is actually progressing at a pretty quick rate. And I believe Mahomes has good chemistry with every receiver on the team right now. He’s had games where he’s peppered Hollywood. Uh we know what he looks like with with Rice and Kelsey. We’ve seen what he does with Worthy. Thornton looks good. The only guy that hasn’t been able to eat so far this year. And and and Terry, you work at Zarda. Maybe you can feed him. Maybe you can feed him. Jason Brownley. I’m afraid when Rice comes back, we’re going to have to cut somebody and it may be Brownley because he’s yet to be able to even put up a stat. Yeah, I agree. And and don’t worry, we got a pile of burnins for him that, you know, I’ll help him eat it, you know. But yeah, I mean, that’s the deal. You you’ve got a great problem in Kansas City all of a sudden. You you know, you go from, hey, our wide receiver room’s getting banged around. We’ve got a lot of injuries. And all of a sudden that chemistry that you’re talking about that takes a long time to develop. It’s right there. You know, Hollywood Brown, there was a play last week on a slant on Hollywood. I mean, it was a fire dart from Mahomes on the money, no loss of stride. He was just hitting in motion. You’re seeing those kind of plays, that ball coming out quick on the money. I think we’re going to see that as that this chemistry continues to develop and they get Rashi back. some there will be somebody that doesn’t get that’s not going to get fed and and I’m afraid your guys love him. Yeah. But they’re probably it’s just probably going to be tough for him to get get on the field. Look, if it’s Chiefs football season, the only thing we want is a season filled with touchdowns from number 15 and some good barbecue. So, we understand that you’re like us. That’s what you want, too. And so, we’re here to support a local Kansas City staple in the barbecue capital of the world, which is Kansas City, baby. Zarda Barbecue. We absolutely love Zarda. They’ve been nothing but generous to us and generous to you, the All Chiefed Up Crew. We keep their sauces on hand 365 days a year. I put this stuff on everything. And we here at ACU proudly support their mission in the community and their mouthwatering food. Right now, our boy Heling from the University of Louisville, Ashton Gelotti, is teaming up with Zarda to bring you his very own signature sandwich called The Takeaway. It is absolutely a barbecue sandwich lovers dream. This one-of-a-kind taste sensation starts with a generous portion of Zarda’s award-winning limited reserve burnins, melted pepper jack cheese, juicy pulled pork, thin sliced ham, and Ashton’s favorite Zarda barbecue sauce. All piled high on a toasted Roma bun. But it’s not finished there. This sandwich has a surprise waiting for you. They’re adding Creole seasoning to kick it up a notch. And we’re getting hungry just talking about it. And speaking of community, Zarta is donating a portion of the proceeds from every Ashton Gelotti inspired sandwich sold to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Kansas City. So, what a great cause and a good way to show your support for Ashton, Zarda, ACU, and your community. So, don’t worry about cooking and cleaning tonight. Make it a Zarda kind tonight and go grab some barbecue from either of their two locations. The KC Takeaway is also available at all area HY Market Grill locations throughout the Chief Season from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. daily. And you will not regret it. Zarda is legendary. and be sure to let them know all Chiefed Up sent you their way. And we kind of have an embarrassment of riches at wide receiver right now. We didn’t even mention Guju. I know Guju a Jaylen Royals hasn’t got to get started yet really. So I mean it’s just wild. Like I said it’s kind of an embarrassment of Riches at wide receiver which is complete opposite of a couple years back. I think when we won the Super Bowl 57 I think it was against the Eagles. We had one of the no shade to anybody but one of the worst wide receiver cores in football that year. Sky Moore, Cadarius Sony, MVS, and everybody was really down on it. And then like just a flip of a switch uh as Brett Beach tends to do will correct a situation. Yeah, he does. He’s good at it. And and and it’s got to be said, I mean, this team has been for some what three years a defensive football team led led at some level by the defense. And I think what we’re seeing right now is still an excellent Spagnololed defense. But now all of a sudden, if the Chiefs offense begins to put pressure on teams and you create a little bit of a one-dimensional team on the other side, this defense is going to they’re going to they’re going to feed on that. And I think you’re going to see more turnovers, more Casey takeaways, if we will. I think you’re going to see this team on defense be more dangerous. So everybody in their fantasy football leagues can start looking at the Chiefs because that’s going to be a team that that turnover-wise is going to be a beneficiary of Patrick Mahomes and this offense putting points on the board. Uh let’s bring it back to the Jaguars on Monday Night Football. It’s another Monday night game. It’s another prime time matchup. Sometimes it feels like the Chiefs don’t do well in prime time. It just it feels like they start so slow and then America gets to talk about not only our downfall but the fact that we’re boring. They get to say that, but I don’t think Mahomes is going to let that happen. I’ll ask you and Steve this question as well because because I found it intriguing. If you guys were spags, would you go at it from the perspective that you would want to send the house versus Trevor Lawrence and make him uncomfortable or are you trying to to put more guys at the line of scrimmage? Maybe kind of like we did with Derrick Henry early to try to stop Travis at the end because he’s their biggest weapon on offense. I will say though, they spent a lot of draft capital on Travis Hunter and and they they drafted that big boy out of LSU that knows how to play some football, too. And I don’t think are either one of them injured right now? I don’t think so. They’re supposed to all be playing. So, what would you guys do? Would you would you look to stop the run first or the pass first if it comes to the Jags? You thinking what I’m thinking? I think we go I think we go all after Trevor Lawrence and just make him uncomfortable. Oh, yeah. Make him hurt. I think you you put the pressure on quarterbacks in the NFL. That’s the name of the game. And Trevor Lawrence, let’s be honest here, he hasn’t lived up to the hype after he got drafted. And I think he will crumble under pressure. I really do. So, I think we just go straight at him. Well, look, their passing game has not been prolific and it it just isn’t. Uh that that passing game, they are led. You said it. ETN is is the guy that leads that that whole thing. I think when Spagnolo’s been successful, and you know, we all talk about this. Can we get a rush with four down linemen? And how often do you send the dogs? How often do you just unload that thing and and go zero and go all in? I I think this is a team that wants to pass the football better. I don’t think they’re good at it. I don’t think Spagnolo is going to let them get good at it. And you are going to see what you just said. I think they are going to destroy Trevor Lawrence. And you know, he’s good at keeping them off balance and disguising coverages and all of that. And the Chiefs are really good at stopping the run. I mean, Dererick Henry and I think the Ravens stop running the ball, you know, probably panicked. I think you’re going to see some of that in this game. And I think the Chiefs are going to have some turnovers. And I don’t think we’re going to have that that Monday night meltdown where you’re not getting their best. I think you’re going to see the Kansas City Chiefs just continue to ascend. And I I think this team is back and and I know it’s only one game, but we’ve watched it and you guys have said it. We’re so close to if we could have been 4-0 at this point with a few things going the other direction. I think this team dominates on Monday Night Football and America then gets to see the Kansas City Chiefs era is still in motion. We’re we’re back. Yeah. So that’s the thing though. It’s kind of a tough problem to have when you don’t play well in prime time games, but you get every freaking prime time game. So hopefully we could get that narrative flipped around a little bit, but I I’m with you. I think Momes is is going to enjoy the spotlight this year because I think he’s out to prove a point anyway after that Super Bowl loss. He cut his hair off. He got serious. And I think he’s ready to go out show the world uh that Mahomes is still Patrick Mahomes. So, uh, what a good way to start it, uh, this year than on Monday Night Football against the Jags. I mean, why not? Absolutely. And you know, one of the things with catering these guys and just getting to hang around them, I mean, Patrick will come over and and and he all these guys say thank you. They’re they’re just a great group. But he came over, not this year, but last year. And, you know, Patrick’s like, “Hey, uh, you know, thanks for being here.” And, you know, all the usual stuff. Yeah. and he’s loading his plate up and I said, “Hey, man. I said I had a little bit of just a little bit of bad news.” He looked at me, he said, “What do you mean?” I said, “Well, uh, you know,” I said, “My wife and I watched the quarterback show and I said, you know, after watching the whole thing,” I said, “I guess we’re just going to have to tell you we’re both team Britney, you know, and and you know, he just has a laugh about it.” But that led to a huge golf discussion and Naggie coming over and you just see these guys, you know, for who they are as people. And Patrick Mahomes, I think, is like anybody else. He’s been affected by what’s been said. He’s been affected by what happened in the Super Bowl. But I think that’s what happens to great players. You go through something like that and out of the suffering and out of the grind, you find out who’s a champion and who’s great. I think that’s what Patrick Mahomes, that’s who he is and that’s what we’re that’s what we’re seeing right now. Yeah, absolutely. Um I’m glad you talked about Britney because Britney is the bright spot of that family. I’m joking. No, I tell you what though, uh those kids that they have are the most adorable children I’ve ever seen. I watch Britney’s Instagram stories and watching like Sterling, just watching those kids grow up, it’s like you’re part of their family. It’s so wild in the days of social media and it’s like, dude, I take a bullet for those kids. I don’t even know him and I love them. But yeah, um, dude, they’re awesome. They’re a fun family. I’m glad Patrick’s here. I I mean, we’re going to name every other road after this guy. He’s going to have a statue out front. Um, when they redo the stadium, I don’t care if they take it to Kansas. I don’t care if they take it to freaking Nebraska. It’s going to be called Patrick Mahomes house. Okay, that’s what we’re calling it. He’s done so much. Like me and Steve talk about it, man. Our pops has been a Chiefs fan. He he ingrained it in our souls by the time we were two. It was Jesus and the Chiefs. Okay, that’s what it was. that was his job on this earth. And uh dude, we didn’t think we were ever cuz we went through some rough years as Chiefs fans, man, with the Krenel and all those guys. Like Steve has a a longstanding like beef w with certain coaches here. I won’t even name. You’re talking about Todd Haley, aren’t you? Yeah, Steve and Todd Haley don’t mix. But yeah, we didn’t think we were ever going to see another Super Bowl before our pops left this earth. and and like we’ve seen an historic run that has just been the most amazing thing to watch, dude. And this it’s it’s crazy because you you get a little babyed by it. Even us sometimes we’re like Chief’s got to win win win. But it’s like if you look at just what we’ve done since Mahomes has been in this league, it’s historic and people fan bases do not have and get to go through times like this and their fandom careers, you know, it just does not happen. Well, listen, you guys are young guys and I appreciate your suffering that you guys have had in the in the short time that you’ve been on the earth, but for old guys like me that go back a long ways, I mean, and listen, it’s been a rough road. I mean, when you’re 50 years between, you know, Super Bowls, that’s a that’s a long time. Yeah. And Marty Shottenheimimer, I loved Marty Shottenheimimer. We spent a lot of time hanging out with him. He was super gracious. And I thought Marty, he had us right there. I won tickets. I was a red coder and I won tickets to the Super Bowl and we were playing Buffalo with Joe Montana to get a trip to the Super Bowl and I had won two tickets. My wife is pregnant with our first born and you know I I got home from a business trip and we’re watching the game against Buffalo and you see Kimell Anders drop an important pass going in the end zone. Joe Montana got a concussion and knocked out of the game. We didn’t go to the Super Bowl. we were that close. I can’t tell you the pain, the the misery of so many games in that era where we were so close. So to see where we are today, you are so right. I mean, kids growing up in this era, they don’t know anything other than winning championships, Patrick Mahomes, doing his haircut. I mean, it’s just it’s a different it’s a different world than the one I grew up in and the one I experienced for so long along with all of Kansas City. So, man, it’s it’s amazing to be where we’re at. You’re right, dude. That uh the Joe Montana, Marcus Allen years when we were in the AFC Championship game versus the Bills and Kimell Anders fluffs up. He he Travis Kelce that thing right to the other team on the goal line and dude, that was a heart that was gut-wrenching, dude. I think that was a really good team that we had right there and we had a chance to win the Super Bowl that year and of course you know but from then on we have Buffalo’s numbers so it’s okay. It is okay and I’ll give you one last Joe Montana I was in I was in Denver we were on Monday Night Football and we had a trouble with Elway as you might imagine and Elway had gone down late in the game scored a touchdown threw his arms up in the air. We’ve won it right. That’s right. And I can’t remember exactly how much time’s on the clock. Montana casually comes out with just a short amount of time, drives him down the field, scores a touchdown with almost nothing left on the clock, maybe 4 seconds. And I mean, that crowd in Denver went stone silent. One of the greatest days of my life Denver, beating Denver. People don’t get it. Like there’s a lot of people that hate the Raiders, but for some reason in my soul, I hate the Broncos. Like, it’s just something about the Broncos. I couldn’t stand John Elway. I couldn’t stand the fact that they always had to go out and be the offseason winners. Like they had to go out and get Pton Manning and do all this and they’re just annoying. They try to win the offseason more than they try to put it together during the season. So, we’ll keep taking the dubs and uh let’s hope they don’t get it together. But, you know, Shawn P Shawn Peyton was a pretty good hire. I’ll give them that. He is. and and they, you know, obviously they’re better, but uh, you know, again, the margin of distance between them and the Chiefs, it’s still there and and so the chase is on. That’s what makes this fun. Yeah. I mean, the AFC West is getting more competitive. Like you mentioned, Shawn Peyton in Denver, he’s getting that team together slowly but surely. And then now Pete Carol over in Las Vegas, I think he’s going to do the same thing with that team. Can I just say this though? What’s Pete Carroll doing? He’s not a Raider. This guy’s a great guy. He’s not What’s going on? It is a weird fit. I I I didn’t see that coming either. He really doesn’t, but but he’s a good coach. I think he’ll get that team together. And then, of course, Harball with the Chargers. They’re going to be a force, too, eventually. It It’s definitely getting more competitive than it has been. It doesn’t look like Patrick Mahomes is going to get the Tom Brady treatment where his division’s just complete trash for 30 years. No. So, it’s going to be a lot of work, man. It’s going to be fun to watch. It is. I think I think it’s the most exciting, you know, division in football. You’ve got a collection of great coaches there. It does make it more fun. Uh the Chiefs don’t get to coast like a lot of those Patriots teams did. But look, you know, the Chiefs have had all this continuity and these other teams have not had that. You’ve got Andy Reid, you’ve got coordinators that have stayed. You’ve got so much that’s been in place and there’s there’s culture there in that locker room. There’s culture there with that coaching staff. That is part of the success of Andy Reid and the Kansas City Chiefs. these other teams have been a turn style of coaches and staffs and, you know, offensive defensive coordinators. I I I don’t think you can say as enough about what the Chiefs have done to keep the band together and and and get this thing to where it’s at. That’s part of the magic. Absolutely. Back to the Monday Night Football game. We keep getting away from the Jags talking about all this awesome stuff. A little bit. It’s all good. Yeah. This this is going to be out. This is going to be out on Saturday. So, people’s going to be really fired up for that that game on Monday night. Look, Spags versus the Ravens and Lamar Jackson. Me and Steve made the joke that Lamar quit. Like, look, uh they said he’s going to be out this week. And then I seen something yesterday that said that he’s probably going to play. We’ll see. And I said, we said our boy got uh got that hammy back really quick, didn’t he? Look, Spags always does what he does versus the Ravens. And one thing that I seen him do versus Russell Wilson was do that split safety look where they were running two different coverages. He took the safeties and he used them well. Chamari Connor, that’s what he done against uh by the way, Leo Chanel, he used him to perfection versus the Ravens. Love Leo Chanel. I thought that uh that Spags done well. 13% is what he ended up showing cover zero to uh to uh Lamar Jackson and the Ravens. the Jaguars and how this relates is they sit right now I think that they’re plus nine in the turnover battle which is wild because you know they’ve not really played a lot of great teams don’t get me wrong I guess the 49ers would be their best win uh this past week but plus nine in the turnover battle is why that they are sitting at three and one right now but their four turnovers have all been Trevor Lawrence interceptions and with Spags coming out and possibly using these safeties and these linebackers Packers and throwing some weird looks and maybe running more cover zero. Do you guys think that cuz we’ve talked about we want to shut down Trevor Lawrence. Is that the way to do it? Should we just keep pressuring him with safeties, keep coming at them or should they do a different game plan this week because now they’ve kind of got it on film a couple weeks in a row and the Jags could be expecting it with an extra day to prepare. Dude, I I said the same thing earlier when you asked a similar question. I just think you just put the pressure on Trevor Lawrence. Absolutely. He’s going to he’s going to buckle as as long as they don’t let you know contain go and don’t let like some little silly screen passes or delayed screens to ETN get chunked off for 40 and 50 yards. It’s just basically it’s going to be all about the tackling, right? Just make sure you’re being fundamental and doing what you got to do. I think you put the pressure on Trevor Lawrence and it’s a wrap just like a lot of other quarterbacks in the league. I don’t think he performs well under pressure. So now he will get out with his legs a little bit, but we showed last week against the probably the best scrambling quarterback of all time. Uh we can shut that down, right? Uh so I think we just keep an eyeball on a few things like that. I think the Chiefs are golden, man. As long as they keep playing the way they’re playing. Well, so the reason before Terry before you answer, the reason I asked this is because if we’re running cover zero, you are trusting that you’re man-to-man on the outside versus Travis Hunter who is an amazing athlete and Brian Thomas Jr. who can absolutely tort you on the deep ball. So that’s what I’m saying. Like are are we comfortable bringing our safeties down and and really running a lot of cover zero? Just trusting these guys, man. 13%. I could do 13%. Okay. 13% works. Yeah. Look, I I think in this league, the the thing you’re always trying to do is make a team on one-dimensional. Once you can make them one-dimensional, you you can you can really get after them. And so I I think the Chiefs are going to put an emphasis on stopping the run game. I think they’ve been successful at handling Derrick Henry and shutting that run game down. And even the Lamar has great legs and and I do, you know, it felt like he kind of took himself out of the game. We’ll see. But it doesn’t matter. I think if the the Chiefs are going to emphasize stopping the run, I think Spagnolo is like Andy Reid. We’re going to figure out a way to disguise those coverages. We’re going to figure out a way to to to trick you into thinking this looks like this and then it’s this. I I don’t know how much cover zero they’ll do, but like you said, 13%. I think their emphasis, stop the run, make them one-dimensional, he’s going to take his shots, and I think that’s where mistakes get made. If the Chiefs can put points up and make them chase, this game gets very easy for Spagnola and his group. No. Williams, our rookie cornerback, is a dog. Okay, Trent McDuffy is a dog. I think we’re I think we’re good on the outside there. Not to mention Jaylen Watson has been playing lights out football as well. Chamari Connor has been playing well. We’ve actually had a pretty good defensive back room even though Christian Fulton can’t find the football field. But, uh, I I really think that they’re doing a good job and as long as they don’t overdo it to where it becomes predictable, I think we’re completely fine there. I I don’t think we’ll see it at the 13% rate because I don’t think anybody on the on the Ravens scared you to beat you deep. Maybe Z Flowers, but again, you’re going to put McDuffy on him and that’s pretty much you trust that. The rest of them, not so much. Nobody really feared uh, you know, DeHop this late in his career or Baitman or any of those guys, Devontes Walker, nobody really cares. But if you look back at the Giants game, we didn’t run as much zero. And Malik Neighbors was a guy that could beat you deep. Now he’s messed up his ACL or whatever. See that with him, but they did stop those guys from being able to do that. So I think Spags was maybe testing the waters there and he may test the waters here. I just don’t know if he’s going to do it at a 13% rate. Another thing that goes to the Chief’s advantage right now is that it was just come out today that Trarevon Walker, their number one pick a few years ago, one of their best pass rushers besides uh Jared Allen from UK. Let’s go. Uh Josh Allen, get it right. Josh Allen. My bad. Oh, we see Jared. So, Trarevon Walker surgery dayto day. They don’t know if he’ll play. He’s the number two guy on their defense and pressures. And he is the number two guy in the entire NFL in run defense with a score of 84.9 per pff. So, if he cannot play, that is a big time loss for that defense. And I think Patrick Mahomes, that’s going to ease up a little pressure on him. Help Josh Simmons, help Jawan Taylor, help some of those guys. If Mahomes gets comfortable in that pocket, he is going to eat. Do you guys agree? Of course. I think you get the run game established early. Andy doesn’t like to do that sometimes, but that’s okay. As long as he can get out and take a couple deep shots early, I think Andy feels better about running the football. Yeah. Like he’s kind of backwards to everybody else’s logic about that. But that’s fine if that’s how Andy wants to do it. I think we come out and take a couple shots at either Taekquin or Xavier and if we land one of them then all of a sudden we can start running the football off the middle rate. Um so I I think that’s key just you know especially if they’re missing Walker right there in the middle I think you take advantage of that and I think you maybe get Patrick Patrick under center and just run the ball straight forward with Pacheco a few times like you mentioned earlier that Pacheco likes to do. Obviously, they like to do the zone blocking schemes and the little like slow to develop run plays sometimes that I don’t feel like are very effective, but I think you just hit them on the nail on the head right there. The Chiefs come out and they do those slow developing plays in the back field. Even Romo called that out when we started just hitting the line very quickly and not doing that and just hitting the A gap, hitting the B gap as hard as we can. The running game looked a lot better. And I believe Pacheco, if he’s your one, that’s where he excels. Kareem Hunt, if he’s your two, he’s getting a little older. That’s where he’s excelling. He He doesn’t, you know, benefit from dancing in the backfield for an hour and let the defense. You know who does though? Bashard Smith’s got those twinkle toes, baby. Yeah. Levian Bell style, right? Yeah. Oh, absolutely. A little hesitated more than Levian Bell. That guy took like No. A day and a half to watch the whole He waited. He waited until his offensive lineman had a firm hold on everyone and then he was like, “Let’s go. I’m gone.” Yeah. That’s awesome. Hey, let’s get to the predictions for the game. Does that sound like fun? Terry, you’re a guest. You want to go first? I don’t know if you’ve thought about it, but you want to give a score prediction? Maybe who you think might be MVP? I I think that you’re going to see the Chiefs again uh offensively put points up, and I I think Andy Reid does like to lead with the pass to develop the run, and I think that’ll come. And so, I I think the Chiefs are going to put up some points. Um, I’ll I’ll probably say they’re going to put up u 34 points, which is a lot of points on a Monday night against a really good defense. I like it. I think they’re going to put that up. And I think I think the Jaguars because they’re going to be just chucking and junk and everything else. I think they’re going to have 20. So, I’ll go 3420 Chiefs, but it’s going to feel like a dominant game from start to finish. The Chiefs are going to own this game. Absolutely. Who you got for Who do you got for an MVP there, Terry? You know, I I mean, I I think it’s it’s uh I’m going to go with Taekquin Thornton is going to have another big game. I think we’re going to talk about him next week. I really do. Uh but, you know, again, they’ve got a lot of mouths to feed, but I’m going to go I’ll put money down on Taekquin Thornton this week. I like it. After the big Xavier Worthy week last week, I think people sleep on him and you could see some big plays. I like that a lot. He’s going to draw double coverage. Xavier Worthy is going to have a lot of attention on him and so they’re going to need to go somewhere else with the ball. Uh, and you guys mentioned, I gotta say this, big big Bob Tanyion. I mean, I think he can play. I don’t know where he’s at right now. I love Noah Gray. And of course, Travis Kelce is still making plays and maybe a little more rested as you guys had pointed out on a on a different podcast. So, yeah, it’s going to be a Chief’s night start to finish. Heck yeah. Let’s go. I like that. Is it my turn now? Yes, you go, Steve. I’m going right there with Terry. Pretty pretty close. I was going with the exact same score that I guess against the Ravens game because I feel like it’s going to be a similar played out game. So, I’m I’m gonna I’m gonna stick with it. I’m going to say 3517 Chiefs. I think they’ll get over that 30 point mark again. And I think Patrick has another big night. I’m looking for another four touchdown night from Patrick. Yeah. Yeah. That’s beautiful. That’s awesome. Look, here’s what I think. I think the Chiefs defense is going to find a way to be dominant. And I don’t think the Jags are going to score that much. I think the Chiefs are going to win this one. I don’t even think we have to put as many points on the board. We could. Are you going blowout territory? It’s not blowout territory, but I think it’s a comfortable win. The Chiefs rarely blow anybody out. Yeah. So, I’m going to say 56 to three. No, I’m joking. The Chiefs rarely blow teams out, and I felt like we finally got that last week after like seven years of suffering. Um, so I don’t know if Andy gives it to us again. He He’s very mean like that. So, I think the Chiefs win comfortably, but I don’t think it’s crazy. I’m going to say 2413. I’m going say 2413 Chiefs. I think that’s comfortable. It’s two scores. Uh it might not be the most sexy pick in the world, but uh I like mine and Terry’s guess better. Hey, now now we’ve all got something to root for. I know what I’m rooting for now. Uh on scores. I’m going to This is going to develop uh Monday night. This is another game inside the game. Hey, I hope you guys are right and I’m completely wrong about this. That’s what I hope. Hey, here’s the thing about it. It was What was the Ravens score? 3720 or something like that. I can’t remember for sure. Uh but you know, if you notice at the end of the game, they kind of they kind of gave him seven points. It was almost like, you know, well, Andy has a lot of love for John Harbaugh. It’s same coaching tree. So, I think it was kind of like, you know, get you a touchdown here, so it’s not bad. I don’t think off like a 80 yard touchdown run or something, bro. Right. I don’t think Liam Cohen’s going to get that treatment. I just I’m just saying. No. No. And I’ll tell you guys, here’s what we’re going to do. Whichever score of yours is the closest to, you know, whatever the real score is is the closest to you guys. Dude, that’s awesome. Now I gotta get right, Steve. If you Look, Steve, I’m gonna tell you something. If If I win this, I’ll share it with you. You can have the last bite. You can have one bite at least. He’s already negotiating. Yeah. So, I mean, no kidding. Not just uh kissing ass because you’re here, but we love Zara to barbecue. I mean, since we first started going to KC with our dad, we would always hit up Blue Springs on the way out of town. And my favorite barbecue sauce, well known Ghost from Zarda. Okay. I I have that here at the house all the time. Like, I’ll get it one way or another. He eats it on his Cheerios. He’s just straight up having Zard. Put it on a lot of different stuff. I get the look from the fiance all the time like, are you really going to do that? But it’s like, yeah, of course I am. Uh, but I’ll tell you a funny story from last night, Terry. Um, I’d been wanting a Thunderberry, right? Like because I tried it last time we were started doing the chew with the crew. Yeah. And for some reason just didn’t get a bottle to go. It was like we were busy or whatever. Right. And um you guys sent us a package. Yeah. And Mike Mike knew I wanted that Thunderberry, right? So he brought it to me last night. We met up and ate dinner with the family and he brought it to me. This t-shirt. He was like He’s like, “Here, man. I know you wanted this Thunderberry. You could have it.” And uh I get back home getting the kids in the house and I’m walking in and y’all have those little like uh cardboard like carriers with like three sauces. I think the bottom fell out and it busted in my sidewalk. Oh no. So hey get that sauce. He lost his sauce. I was so mad too. I was so upset about it. But the good news is is last night we had a members only live stream. So I told that story and everyone in the chat’s like I’m going to send you a bottle. So, I might end up with a bunch of uptick sales of Thunderberry. Well, yeah, I know you can call Maiden KC or go on their website and and order our sauces and stuff like that, but I will make sure we get a couple bottles of that in. Why? Why Steve just out here breaking sauce? Like, the neighbors think he was crazy. He was out there licking the concrete to 2 a.m. Hey, I considered it like, can I get this up somehow? Oh, man. Steve was cooking chicken wings and dipping them on the concrete. He was like, “What is Speaking of wings, y’all have wings now.” Yeah. They look fire, dude. Which I will tell you, Pat came over, Patrick uh Mahomes, and and he had wings that night. And the funny thing was they had served this team wings from the, you know, the staff that that cooks for him at training camp up there at uh St. Joe. And so, little did we know that the night before was wing night. And so Patrick comes over and he’s getting wings. I said, “I I heard you guys had wings last night.” He goes, “Yeah, good news for you guys. I didn’t eat wings last night.” He goes, “I’m here to get them tonight.” And so hearing him come over and he’s like, “Hey man, those wings are fire.” It was it was a good endorsement from him and they’ve gone really well. It’s you know, we’re kind of late to the dance on on wings. Who’s not doing wings? But they have hit and and they’re going to stick around on the menu. Makes it doesn’t matter how late to the party. Yeah. Doesn’t matter how late to the party, as long as they’re delicious, you take over. And they look so good. Like, every time I see that picture, I’m like, I want those wings. And then I see Ashton sandwich. I’m like, I want that sandwich. And then I’m like, if I lived in KC, I would be 700 lb. I would have to sue Zarda for for my medical bills. Stay in that protein lane and you’re going to be okay. You know, carbs out a little bit. Stay in the proteins. And hey, I got to tell you one story on Travis Kelce from training camp real quick. Let’s do it. So, I’ve got a friend of mine uh that has had Travis uh and this was two years ago and he’s had Travis on his fantasy football team and for two years he had won championships twice and so Travis is is coming through the line and saying hi like always and I said, “Hey man, I got a buddy of mine, you know, that’s had you two years on on his fantasy team and and I was going to see if uh I could get a picture and, you know, send it to him.” And he’s like, “Give me your phone.” So he gets my phone, he puts it on video and he makes a full video to my buddy and you know, hey, this is Travis Kelce, the mustaches for coach, you know, and he takes him through it. Much love. This guy is, I say, a man of the people, but you know, I sent it to my friend and of course he’s still got it. Still sending it to everybody he knows. That’s awesome. But I can’t say enough. We love watching these guys on the football field, but being up close with so many of these athletes and seeing what they are inside and who they are to the community, it’s it’s man, that’s icing on the cake. We appreciate you being here. And before you go, we wanted to just give a thank you, man. Like we we appreciate you coming on the show. We appreciate Zarda recognizing all chief up and being with us because I’ve told you before sometimes we feel like we’re on we’re on the outside because we’re not from KC and people look at us a little weird and uh but uh you mentioned that you guys don’t get the recognition because some of your stores are a little bit on the outside of KC as well. So yeah, man, just two underdogs working together. Uh we love the team up. Uh we’ll have to have you back again. It’s been super cool and man, we push your stuff all the time. So I hope you don’t mind, man. I I love it. I’m so appreciative of you guys and I’ll tell you if you talk to Mitch Holtus and he’s you talking about an Energizer Bunny. Mitch Holtus is going to tell you that Chief’s Kingdom is bigger than Kansas City. And so you guys where you’re at in an outpost, you know, in Kentucky getting it done and planting a flag for the Kansas City Chiefs. I don’t think it matters your geography. I think it’s about the heart and the soul of what your dad put in you and who you guys are today as Chiefs fans. And when people listen to your podcast, they hear passion, but you guys know football. Like every time I tune in, I’m learning something, you know, coverages. You’re talking a gaps and all that. And I’m no football coach. I’m a barbecue guy and we all watch it. But you guys are a lot of fun. I can’t wait to see you next year when you’re coming up for training camp. I will definitely be there. Stay tuned. We’ll see who wins this contest. I’m sure you guys will share. There’s probably going to be some Thunderberry sauce in there, but you guys are the best.
We’re sitting down Terry Hyer COO of Zarda BBQ to discuss Ashton Gillotte & his new team up with Zarda, the Takeaway sandwich! We’re also discussing the Chiefs offense, defense, rookies and previewing their upcoming matchup vs the Jaguars on MNF! This is one Chiefs Kingdom does NOT want to miss!
🚨🏈Check out our friends over at Zarda BBQ! The BEST BBQ in Kansas City! Be sure to try the new Ashton Gillotte inspired creation “the Takeaway” made with burnt ends, pulled pork, ham, pepper jack cheese, and Zarda’s famous barbecue sauce! The sandwich also kicks up the heat with a little creole seasoning. A portion of the sales from the sandwich will benefit Kansas City Big Brothers Big Sisters. Be sure to tell them ALL CHIEF’D UP SENT YOU THEIR WAY!

Do you think Ashton Gillotte was a great pick by Brett Veach & the Chiefs? Drop your thoughts below!

STOPS and STEALS is what wins championships. GO CHIEFS!!!
Jackson wussed out the only thing he got hurt was his ego!
This was a VERY COOL conversation. Great guest with great stories and you two gentlemen knocked it out of the park as usual. The way the topics of football and bbq were woven together was a thing of beauty. I’ll be making my way to Zarda this weekend to get a KC Takeaway and some wings! 🍻

Hey just so you guys know I've been here with ya from the jump. I'm not just one of those people that feel the need to comment often. But since you fellas are starting to blow up (which is well deserved cuz y'all are the best at keeping me updated on all my Chiefs news) and starting to being known… Don't forget us at the bottom when you're sitting on top! Proud of you boys! Keep up with grind. Your future, Chiefs future…. Our future is bright! 😎
Also this video has one of the best previews of the upcoming game that I’ve seen so far! Can’t wait for Monday night!
HORNT ! ! !
Hyped it up. Let's go CHIEFS
You guys are great! Love this show!
Best Chief channel an it ain’t close dawgzzz! Luv u ACU LFG 👊🏾👊🏾👊🏾👊🏾
This is bringing back memories, Len smoking in the locker room, waiting 50 years for another win, the 3 years with Joe & Marcus coming so close, Alex getting there with Gonzalez year after year and Pitt or Indy shutting the door on us. Makes you appreciate it more when you have watched for as long as some of us had. Not a band wagon fan is what I am saying. Cheers & go KC. 🙂
RIP to HC Marty. Probably the best head coach to never win a chip.

Haven't been to Zarda in years but I keep seeing you guys promote them lately and so I'll head back their way here very soon! Want to support All Chief'd Up and now Zarda!
If the oline holds up, Pat will tear apart the league. That will be the only thing that holds him back.
Zarda original is my favorite sauce hands down. Been going to the Lenexa spot since I was a kid.
Great show but y'all made me hungry! I just ordered 6 bottles of Zarda's BBQ sauce.
Blow out incoming
