Mac got a raw deal after Josh McDaniels left New England. IMO, the Patriots were impatient and moved on from him too quickly.
Could you imagine if Trey Lance played well in his rookie year, went to the pro bowl and was traded a couple years later? Half of Niners fans would had never forgiven Lynch and Shanahan.
Belichek didn’t talk to him for like two months straight. BoB also has a dinosaur offense and had no answer for a front four pass rush.
Belichick naming Matt Patricia, a career DC, OC after his rookie year was the cause of his downfall in NE in what seemed like an ego driven move to give the middle finger to Robert Kraft.
I lived in Boston at the time and in true NE fashion, a majority of them thought Belichick could do no wrong. It was worse than Mike Nolan throwing Alex Smith under the bus publicly.
Edit: It’s yet another example of how Jed/Shanahan/Lynch have brought the Walsh/Debartolo/McVay standard back here in terms of culture.

Impossible task to have to take the reigns after Brady left NE. Sad that his talent went to waste and was run out of town. Glad he landed here with a better org.

Good. The kid deserves love and the ability to live out his promise. He’s a muthahfuckin’ DAWG. Nothing but respect and gratitude for him. I would love him to stay, but I know he’s got a place somewhere starting where he could really shine. I hope the time he spends with us gives him the strength and experience he needs to be the QB we’ve all seen him capable of being. If he left tomorrow, I would still consider him a forever 49er. He’s *exactly* what I see as our culture; strength, fortitude, leadership and fuckin’ BALLS OF STEEL. God bless ‘im. Go Niners!

Watching Mac do the walk out of the tunnel in LA with Trent and the boombox was a little weird. But hey man. He’s all game. He took so many hits and still kept his focus. His arm strength may not be the best but he is accurate.
