LAST THREE OUTS: Padres fight back, push for Game 3 π (Manny Machado and Mason Miller SHINE)
Kevin, thank you, sir. This Wrigleyfield crowd has been rather quieted today. The Cubs 0 for the first eight innings offensively and they’re trying to get on the board here because in the best of three wild card format, the game one home winner has never lost game two. Cubs need three runs against an All-Star closer Robert Suarez in the ninth. We avoid to game three tomorrow. Rick Councel’s team trailed from the jump. Four batters in, San Diego took the lead on a Jackson Merrill sack fly to score Fernando Tatis Jr. Tatis would score on a Manny Machado two-run homer in the fifth and it’s been three nothing ever since. But what do we have? The heart of the Cubs order half Tucker and Suzuki the last chance against Suarez [Applause] for seven. struck out five times in this postseason. He’s ahead 2 and 0. [Applause] Suarez searching for his third postseason save. [Applause] Strike one. 100. Again, [Music] I don’t know what the record is for most 100 mph pitches by a team in a postseason game. We might be approaching it. Half in the air to left. Bryce Johnson, one out. That’s been the difference in this game is that four seam fast has been dominant against this Cubs offense. And hey, they’re lowest in the National League in batting average against on the four seam fast ball, but they slug it. They hit more home runs than most, especially they’re top four in the National League. That’s what they need. They need the big hit, especially against the fast ball. One away for Tucker. Ball one. Padres’s and Cubs played six games all in April. Split them all 66. Runs were 2525. Strike one. Another change up. Two more outs. The season series will be 4-4 and the runs will be 28-27. It would make sense that this series would go down to a game three. Tucker right center field. There’s his first hit of the wildard series. A little late for the Cubs. Well, that’s what the Cubs need, man. They got to have some base runners. And we talked about it a couple innings ago. They got to have a big swing in there. Kyle Tucker’s been nicked up. Didn’t have a chance. ran out of time to go down and get some rehab starts, but that was a really nice swing right there. Staying on plane and just kind of dumps it out toward right center field. So, a one out single. Tying run on deck. Suzuki takes the strike. If you want some brunts, this is your dude. home run yesterday in the fifth to get their rally going. He’s had six, count them, six home runs in the last five games. Has a double today in three at bats. And he chases 101 from Suarez for strike two. That mean these four seam fast balls we’re going to see in this series right above the top of the zone but that’s what plays 02 pitch I’m trying and I hope folks at home are too not to get numb to what we’re seeing from the Padres’s today. I know it’s not all about velocity but this is an insane display of velocity and location and spin. You see why this is the best bullpen in the league. Suzuki gets a 100 and gets a piece. And what’s the slowest fast ball we’ve seen today? I think it’s 96 from a Padre pitch. But the average the average has been 100. Yeah. I mean, that’s what’s mindblowing from CE who started Miller last inning. Now Suarez. Suzuki stays alive again cuz I mean this is an elite when you talk about the Cubs, you talk about an elite offense. That’s what this is. Top offense, one of the top five offenses in all of baseball. The old saying has been around for more than 100 years. Good pitching will beat good hitting every time. And so far it’s been about the pitching for the Padres. That’s what’s for sale. [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] Reigning National League player of the week trying to ignite another rally on the north side in the dirt. He’s worked it full. This game’s getting very interesting. And it will if Suzuki can reach on the ground. Shortstop Bogard stumbles, flips to second. Double play and the Padres’s win it. Wow. San Diego shuts out the Cubs with a dominant performance from four pitchers and this Padre Smoke Show sends the series to a decisive game three. Well, I tell you what, Padres’s getting it done on defense right here. This was not an easy play at all. And Bogart’s actually stumbled just a little bit, but so athletic. Look, goes to his knees, collects the ball, just a perfect feed over to Croninworth. And a really nice finish on the back end by Arise. Look at Arise. He’s reaching out all he can from first base. It’s a good feed, a strong arm, and watch the reach by Arise. all he’s got towards the ball and just in time a game ending 6-4 to3 double play. Bogart looked like a catcher. I mean that ball was hit so hard he had to get around. Got on his knees just to keep it in front of him. Still able to complete the double play. What’s been an amazing pitching performance from the Padres’s the entire game. Mike Shell when we walked out said, “See you guys tomorrow.” Very casually. We are going to see him tomorrow. Mike Shield. We’ll see Craig Council. We’ll see the Padres’s and the Cubs after a San Diego shutout this wildard series is off to a winner take all game three with Dylan C. We have to start with the end of the game. Can you describe what we all saw out of Mason Miller today? Doesn’t get much better. I mean, uh, what was that? Five strikeouts, five batters, five strikeouts. I mean, it’s like a cheat code. It’s, uh, really impressive. Let’s go back to your start. third start this season where you haven’t issued a free pass. How did you lock in so quickly and early in this game? Yeah, I mean obviously uh you know I knew it was an important game and uh I had a a good week of of preparation and uh you know I just went in with the mindset I was going to battle and and compete overall this team has battled all year long. Lot of close games. How will that benefit you in a a winner take all game three? Yeah, I think uh you know, we have a lot of experience. Obviously, we have uh you know, a lot of depth in our pen and and whatnot, but yeah, we’ve got a lot of guys that have been here and uh you know, it’s not going to be easy, but I think we’re up to the challenge. Dylan, thank you. Congrats. Thank you. Appreciate it.
Manny Machado hit a clutch two-run home run while Mason Miller impressed in his second Postseason outing, leading the Padres to a Game 3 NL Wild Card against the Cubs!

This is unacceptable. There are no Yankees runs in this. Flagged for non pandering
How mor*nic to make 1 million videos of the same game and revealing who won in the thumbnail. Canβt you let fans watch a game they donβt know who won yet without blurting out the results in the thumbnail? Do any of you at mlb have brains?
Rooting for them so we can see Dodger Padres in NLCS

The Padres are completely unpredictable and inconsistent. You just can't say what they'll do, game to game.
This effort was incredibly good, altogether.
Who knows which Padres team will show up tomorrow for the deciding game?
