Kerry Carpenter BLASTS a no-doubter for Tigers lead during the 5th inning🐅

Yeah, interesting mound visit with the base open. You guys mentioned the history between the two. Green on deck has been vulnerable to that high fast ball. Interesting choice here for Kirby. How aggressive to be with Carpenter. Not tonight. I don’t pitch around him, Tom. Kirby’s been too good and he’s been able to locate that ball up. Slider down the right field line towards the corner and that will drop in foul. But he was inches away from making us all look. I don’t I don’t even think you have to go inches at any point to make any of the three of us feel a little silly. I don’t know you put him on, but you definitely pitch him tough. This is O2 every pitch right here. Just like they have to pitch Cal Rally. This is how they go. 02 right here. Every pitch. Strike the ball. Strike the ball. Strike the ball. If you throw something in the strike zone, it’s got to be ball to strike. You’re in that pocket right now for this Detroit Tiger lineup. All the power is really centralized in the two, three, and four hitters. Carpenter, Green, and Torlson. [Applause] A one is a close pitch that goes Kirby’s way. Nothing. And two. And that flips the feeling of this at bat. Little runner gets the crowd going. And the the Tigers just need a hit with runners in scoring position. They’re seven for 41 in the postseason and 0 for six so far tonight. We’re only in the fifth inning. Chance after chance after chance for Detroit. Kirby trying to finish off the frame with an O-2 pitch to Carpenter. Close pitch this time does not go Kirby’s way. And Carpenter still going, much to the chagrin of 40,000 partisans. That was a great, perfectly executed pitch. He gave him a little bit off the plate the previous pitch. Hey, if you’re giving it to me, I’ll go back there and see if you do it again. One, two, delivery. Carpenter swings, launches it to right, and the Tigers will lead. That is gone. And Carpenter comes up clutch in the division series again. And he gets the best of Kirby again. Wow. [Applause]

Kerry Carpenter launches a two-run home run against the Seattle Mariners and puts the Detroit Tigers on the board in the 5th inning during Game 1 of the ALDS.

  1. I wanna see Toronto-Detroit ALCS….so Jays fans in Windsor and Chatham can invade Comerica Park and make it a home game. 😂

  2. Hate to say I told you so, Mariners fans 😂 The only reason you’re in the playoffs is because Houston collapsed at the end of the season so you could win the worst division in baseball. Your offense will consistently get shut down against good teams and your pitching has been very mid this season. Go look at the stats. Always fun though to see delusional Mariners fans get a big dose of reality 😂😂 That said, neither of these teams look like they could hang with Toronto. It’s going to be Jays vs Dodgers or Phillies in the WS

  3. I'm so glad this historic moment was caught and recorded in 4K so that we could re-enjoy it later when it was uploaded as 720p…

You guys got to get this right @ MLB. You lack shame, and honor.

  4. The umpires have ruined the enjoyment of the game. Seriously. Just call the pitch. Kerry got away with one, but it was totally a makeup call.
