  2. Was feeling a little disappointed in the hole they found themselves in last night, but they didn’t quit. This team will continue to get better once the assignments are more permanent. Gonna be a fun ride. Enjoy your Sunday, all.

  3. Raymond has not exactly wowed me this pre-season. I guess you cant expect him to make giant leaps anymore in his career, but the baby steps sure feels tiny right now.

    At the same time its just the pre-season so it doesnt really matter.

  4. What are the chances all 3 of MBN, ASP, and Finnie make the squad? I would rather have those guys making mistakes and learning than Holl just making mistakes. For all 3 to make it, I believe they’d have to displace 1 forward and 1 dman. I could also be wrong about that lol

  6. MBN finished the preseason with 7 points in 7 games

    His 7 points is tied for first in the NHL
    His 4 goals is tied for first in the NHL

    He also had a plus/minus of 6

    ASP finished with 4 points, top 10 among defensemen

    Finnie finished with 4 points in 7 games

    He also had a plus/minus of 4

    I think all 3 deserve a spot, but I didn’t realize how dominant MBN was in the counting stats until
    I actually looked at it

    I want the playoffs as much as anyone but if we roll with these D pairs and it works out I will be excited to see the growing pains and forgive a lot of mistakes if it means the coaches are confident the players will grow into their rolls. There’s a good chance we miss the playoffs even with the extra veterans we’d be sitting out so at least this would have some possibilities for long term benefit. Similar mentality for the forward group, keep both up for now. I’m sure they will hit a wall at some point but if they need to head down later we have more prospects waiting for their turn.

    I feel like we are all thinking this way here, but seeing it in action this late in the preseason and hearing Todd talk so positively gets me excited it could actually happen. I wonder if Stevie shares his enthusiasm, they seem to be in sync and we know they communicate often. As much as we’ve called for the youth before we really didn’t want to see it if they weren’t ready but if they are now we will have a fun season.

  14. Scored the GWG in beer league last night, was able to record the glorious Tigers win and avoid contact to get home and watch it fresh late night, now up watching how the Wings managed that comeback.

    Life is so good right now, hoping you all are having a good one as well.

  19. Given the opportunity and jobs at stake, I thought Soda would start throwing his body and pummel some players. Instead, it was very underwhelming.

    I know some people are going to have their pitchforks out immediately, but try to keep this in mind when you see some of the transactions on Monday. Then bring them back out on Thursday if your favourite prospect isn’t on the roster, lol

  25. Collecting cards has been pretty much my main hobby for much of my life and I’ve accumulated a lot. But recently I’ve been challenging myself to decide how many of them have meaning vs how many of them I have because of “collecting for the sake of collecting” and I’ve been prepping quite a few to send off to be sold on the site I do a lot of my buying so I can turn these cards into credit to buy others in the future that better fit how I want my collection to look. Not just the Wings, but all of the teams I cheer even outside of the big four leagues plus a small handful of players I really like. It takes up a small closet at the moment and it’s a noticeable dent that is no longer sorted in boxes.

  26. That was a very satisfying last game. Great comeback win and the scoring was led by the guys you wanted to see do it. Young guys + the key players. Thought the puck movement and control looked awesome down the stretch, especially the powerplays. Incredibly pleased with some of of the young guys progress too. Some really quick learning curves. In ASPs first game i thought the talent was clearly there but he looked like he needed some AHL development first, but he adjusted so quickly afterwards and looks like he absolutely belongs now. Really impressed with MBN too.
