THE VANCOUVER CANUCKS JUST GOT EVEN BETTER: LEKKERIMAKI’S DEVELOPMENT SKYROCKETING!

[Music] [Applause] Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Now, I’m going to be honest. I’m recording this audio on the night of October 4th. It is Saturday. By the time this video is public on YouTube, maybe there have been some roster changes with the Vancouver Conucks. Maybe. Maybe the player we’re talking about is not on the team anymore. Who knows? Although, if I were to wager a bet, I’d probably say he’s still on the team. I mean, if he wasn’t on the team, I’d be kind of upset about this. But, uh, yeah, today we’re talking about a player who has absolutely taken his NHL opportunity in the preeason with the Vancouver Conucks in a chokeold. He has squeezed every single last ounce of juice from this opportunity. And Vancouver Conucks fans cannot be more excited about him because this was years in the making. We’re not talking about Braden Coots today. No, although he’s kind of done the same thing. I don’t know if he’s going to be on the team, but today we’re talking about Yonathan the Karamaki and what some of his Vancouver Conucks teammates had to say about him and his shot. Because ladies and gentlemen, we made the video a few nights ago during the Canucks and Oilers preseason game. Yonathan Laramaki, you can say this guy literally has like a top three shot on the team already, if not top two. He is a shooter. And especially for a Vancouver Conucks team that, let’s be real here, they kind of need some forward support. They need more shooters. They need more goals. This is a guy who has come into his opportunity in the preseason and fully taken advantage of it. And now we have ourselves some crazy comparisons being made and some even crazier things that Kucks players are saying about this guy. Before we dive into that though, I just wanted to get some of the background in there because Yon Karamaki was drafted by Vancouver back in 2022. 15th overall guy. He was a player that could have gone a lot higher in the 2022 draft. Honestly, he was ranked as high as top 10 by a bunch of outlets. McKenzie and Button all had him at 8 and N. You had McKin at number nine, Future Considerations at 12, Elite Prospects at 18. So, Vancouver getting him at number 15. First and foremost, great pick. He was always known for his shot. That’s the reason he was so highly touted. If you take a look at the production he had in all the years leading up to the draft, this guy was a goalcorer who would have more goals than assists in most of the years that he played. Even in the SHL at 17, turning 18 years old, this guy was still a goalcoring machine. That continued into the next few seasons of play he had in Orib and then inevitably Abbottzford. had a rough year the previous few seasons recovering from injury, but ultimately Jonathan Laramaki still was a top prospect that the Vancouver Canox kind of needed to hit on. They needed this guy to hit to be what he should have become because if he wasn’t, then he’d go down as yet another on the long list of Vancouver Canucks first round busts. Hey Jake Vertan and Olio Levy, you’ve got another one here. Nevertheless, Laramaki had himself 28 points in 36 Abbottzford games last year and six points in 24 Vancouver Conucks games this previous season as well. Three goals, three assists in 24 games played. Not the best, but still he was a brand new rookie making his debut. He ended up scoring in his very second NHL game against the Islanders. beautiful one-time on the rush. But as we have seen in the preeason, this guy has continued developing that shot, developing that confidence. He is now unafraid to just rip it from wherever. And it’s totally fine when he does that because it usually goes in. This guy’s got a cannon. And as we saw from that OB spot, Jonathan Laramaki is such a stud. And now we’re seeing comments made by folks like Jake De Brusk who said this about Leramaki’s shot. Oh, he can rip it. Leramaki reminds me of David Pastasternak in some ways. Just his release, the way it comes off his stick. You guys saw it tonight. This, of course, is a quote from Ian McIntyre who reported on the Canucks and the Oilers game. He got some quotes from Vancouver Conucks players on Laramaki’s shot. I mean, look at that. Hey, Jake De Brusk is comparing Laramaki shot to David Posturdock. Might I remind you, David Posternok is a multi-time 40 goal scorer in the National Hockey League and one time 60 goal scorer. He’s had multiple 100 point seasons. And um look, I’ll go out there and say this kind of the reason David Postnak has so many points is not because he can just shoot. He can also make plays. He’s a very very good playmaker. Laramaki probably doesn’t have that element to his game like Postronox’s elite hockey IQ, vision, and playmaking, but the shots there. I mean, David Pastron could have had multiple 50-goal seasons if things had just gone his way a little bit better in Boston the past few years. But still, with a 61 goal season under his belt, David Pastnak is one of the best shooters in the game. Another right-handed guy who doesn’t happen to be too big. Laramaki is 5’11 172. Pastron is 6′ 198. So, a little bit sturdier, but definitely not huge. Pastnak also has great mobility. He’s got confidence. He can just rip it on goal. That is his specialty. Laramaki has a lot of those same qualities to his game as well. So for Jake De Brusk to be comparing Lera Maki, an NHL rookie, a young Vancouver Kinak whom we didn’t even know if he was going to fully make the team, comparing that guy’s shot to Posterox. I love it. I love it. And here is another quote. This one’s also from Ian McIntyre and the article that he posted. I’ll leave a link in the description if you want to go out there and read this yourself. It’s on sportsnet.ca. IMAC does a great job. This is what Connor Garland said about Yonathan Leramaki’s shot. Garland phones his dad Gary back home in Boston nearly every day. And on their call before Friday’s game, Garland was raving to his pops about the kid on his team, Yonatan L. Keramaki. I told my dad on the phone, I can’t believe the jump Laramaki has taken. It’s confidence. The shot’s the shot. That’s his gift. You know, everybody has a gift. But I think the rest of his game has come a long way. I’m not an evaluator, but I just feel he’s a lot more confident. Three days ago in practice, five on five drill in the zone, he just had the puck and he was moving it. Maybe last year he was not being as decisive. I think he can notice it. He’s going to be a big time player for us. It’s huge that he has taken a great step for us. So now Connor Garland’s going out there and calling his dad back in Boston like, “Hey, this guy’s looking really darn good. this guy who could potentially replace my top six forward spot with Heedel and Kane. He’s scoring goals like crazy and he’s confident while doing so. He had that swagger, that confidence back in Sweden with the junior team, even in the SHL playing for team Sweden at the World Juniors. Everywhere Leramaki has gone, he has produced goals and now he is starting to show that that potential exists in the National Hockey League, too. I mean, I’m trying to look on his elite prospects page. Where was the last season that Laramaki had where he had more assists than goals? Uh, okay. 223 his draft plus one season with Hockey Alfens and Jer Gardens if nine points, three goals, and six assists in the regular season. 15 points in 15 games in the playoffs though. Five goals, 10 assists. Okay, so there is where he had more assists than goals. But literally every other season that’s available in Elite Prospects, the guy was producing a lot more goals here. And that pattern seems to have continued in North America, at least right now, where he’s going out there and potting goals by ripping them in from the left side of the circle there. So with that in mind, I want you to let me know your thoughts in the comment section below. Things are looking fantastic for Yiannis in the Karamaki, and the fact that he’s being compared to David Pastron really does put the bow on top. These kucks keep on getting compared to Bruins, man. First it was Villander and now he’s the next Makavoy. Now we got Leramaki. His shots being compared to Posternok. And it’s not from some random bum on the internet. It’s from Jake De Brus. He played with both of these guys, so he probably knows a thing or two. If you enjoyed this video at any point, feel free to hit the like button.
