Manny Machado on Padres elimination and how he assesses the season.
[Music] This is family for us in here, you know. Um, you know, obviously this is is not the result we wanted. Um, you know, but this crew, man, is is this is what we started here in spring training as as a as a collective group. Um, you know, the bond we have between everyone. Uh, I mean, this this is family for us and it just sucks uh, you know, to be doing this, unfortunately. Um, but man, this this team, you know, we we left it all out there all year. Um, you know, it was a hell of a journey. I wouldn’t change anything for anything in the world for it. Obviously, a championship. Um, but you know what? We fell short, but this team fought, man. You know, we dealt with a lot of adversity. We dealt with a lot of things throughout the ways. And this team kept overcoming, overcoming, overcoming it, and it was it was a fun, you know, it was a fun ride. Fun ride. And, um, you know, fans, man, thank you guys for supporting us always as well. um you know they were in in in the fight with us to the end and um you know we couldn’t ask for a better organization for a better fan base then to support us all year like they did and um you know we’re just unfortunately sorry that you know we fell short but um I will say that this team will uh continue to grow continue to get better and continue to fight to uh you know reach our ultimate goals to bring us championship to city of San Diego and we won’t stop the job the piece staff did in this series to not be able to give them the support when they, you know, did their job. How tough a pill was that? Yeah, man. I mean, what they did, man, I mean, it was unbelievable. Um, you know, they they did tremendous job and we fell short um offensively. Um, myself came up with with with a lot of runs of scoring position, couldn’t come up with a hit and um, you know, I’ll put that blame on me, man. I should have been better. And um, you know, what how these guys went out there and threw the ball, what they hung three days in a row. Um, Sarz um, you know, King coming out of the pen. I mean, just everything. I mean, overall, I mean, they they they they let it on the ground and, um, I couldn’t come up for them. So, um, you know, here we are saying goodbye, which which sucks. So, um, yeah, it’s just, uh, not a good feeling that we couldn’t get him enough front support. Honey, how how different is this feeling with the number of guys that, you know, could walk out of the season? You mentioned Robert Suarez and Michaels. What’s that feeling like? Yeah, I mean I mean those are guys that we’ve been with together for for a long time and obviously it sucks but hey I mean I I want them to get it paid as much as as much as they can and hopefully it’s with us or with another organization but ultimately um the bond that we created between us and and and and those guys I mean I think that that that goes more than just um playing across the diamond from each other. Um you know those relationships will always be there and um it was an honor to put on the same uniform as them. Hopefully they they put it on again next year with with the with the Padres’s, but um you know, we wish them nothing but the best. They’re they’re our brothers. How harsh is the reality of it? Cuz you talk about how you feel you’re in it till the very last second and then all of a sudden it’s over and that reality kind of hits. How harsh does that hit? I mean, it it sucks. Yeah, for sure. I mean, like I said, this is a position that you don’t want to be in. Um you know, we want to be holding up the trophy at the end of the year. Um, you know, it was our goal at the end at the beginning of the season and we fell short from it. Um, you know, I take responsibility for it as well. Um, you know, but um, yeah, I mean it just it sucks. Can you speak to you Darvish and the things that he did to pitch for his team, all the injuries that he was trying to overcome, dude. I mean, everyone I mean everyone. I mean, yeah, speaking of youth, I mean, yeah, I’ve seen him for for years now and things he does for this organization, the team, mostly for the team to go out there and pitch. Obviously, this year has been been very hard for him. Um, we see day in day out what he’s doing. Um, I get firsthand to see it and um, sometimes you just can’t go. And he he pushed through it. He figured things out. He figured a way to go out there and compete for us. I mean, I got nothing but respect and um I mean, I get to see it firsthand why why he is who he is, why he has so many wins in the big leagues between here and Japan, why he’s such a king in Japan. I mean, this guy’s a freaking gamer and one of the best human beings that you could possibly meet. And at the end of the day, biggest competitor that that that this game has. I mean, you know, what he dealt with this year to go out there and give us an opportunity to come out here and win this game today. I mean, listen, to start out today, there was one guy I wanted on that mount. It was It was called Kad Darish. And um you know, we we fell short offensively for him. Penny, how confident are you that the organization will make the right changes to go ahead and make sure that you guys are in a better position for next season? I mean, I hope so. I mean, I hope so. I mean, there’s no better better way than what we did this year with what we had. I mean, cut payroll. Um and we do what we do. Um, you know, hopefully we bring back O’Han, we bring back all the guys that that that need to be here. I mean, this team is the team’s ready. This team’s ready. We fell short this year, but I mean, we’re confident in the group that we have that we can go out there and repeat it every single year. So, um, you know, I hope uh, you know, I hope they continue to do that and and listen to us and ultimately uh, listen to the fans that that that want to bring a championship to City of San Diego. I know it just ended, but how do you assess a season like this? Um, I mean, I mean, what type of question is that, dude? My guy. How do I assess this season? We just lost. How do you think I assess this? How do you think I assess it? I don’t know. That’s what I was asking. You tell me. What is What’s a loss? We lost. How do you assess it? It’s a loss. You’re You lost. Come on, dude. I mean, you could ask better questions than that. Let’s go. Come on. Thanks.

Machado's window has to be closing. He's never won. Baltimore, Dodgers and now the "Sad" Diago Padres….never won….enjoy the offseason. GO BLUE!!!
What a halfwit.
Padres 6 months vacation is over with. Time to get back to their day job the holidays are coming we need the brown vans on the roads delivering packages 😅😂😅
Manny wish he had stayed in L.A.😢
Dodgers fan glad he's gone 😊
Dirty Machado aka Charlie Hustle Machado choked again. 😂
He really does look like Ariana Grande
5:19 the teacher:
when I ask a question when they say “no such thing as stupid questions” 🥀
What an asshat question after he gave him the answer to that question from all the prior questions. Non-bias fan here but I will say to take the clip out of context is a disservice to Manny.
This pos is a joke, San Diego can do better without him
We have enough of a sample size: this group with this core ain’t winning Shildt.
Dodgers are # 1 for the Baby fans in San Diego
Manny continues to underperform at the plate in the post season. He and Tatis just can’t get it done.
LET’S GO DODGERS!!!!!!💙🤍💙
Love my Padres forever!!!
What was wrong with anything he said?
He is a fake and a two face person talking behind his team mates that’s something he should be ashamed but he never said that he is a failure poor boy he think he is better than anyone but realistically he is a no body
The team is ready he said but they are ready for another season of disappointment
To me machado look like a the carácter shrek your ears are ugly well you are the worst thing as human been
You see machado you are disrespectful to the reporters and that is not acceptable you are so cocky and that’s why people hate your guts specially ME”……
Assess being a loser. Along with the rest of that sorry team.
Manny being Manny…😅
Maybe don't laugh and smile and shit.
Why would there be any optimism this guy can take the Padres any further than this?
Dudes a fucking joke
Manny has a fkup attitude.
Manny should take days off more. Dodgers rested their pitchers. He was limping last few games. They need to be more strategic like the Dodgers.
It's really hard to win a World Series. Not a lot of teams do. We are small market team that makes it difficult.
its the dodgers fault, right manny?.. they paid the umpires off right manny?
Classless Machado will never win a World Series.
Padres will never be close to Dodgers status
