My thoughts on the McQueen's first game (albeit pre-season) with the Friars. (The Friars won, 2-1.)

Since he missed yesterday's game due to illness, it's hard to say if he was 100% for this game.

He is wearing #29 for the Friars.

He is a very good skater for being so ridiculously tall. It is noticeable how much taller he is than other players.

He is the number one center, so will get a lot of ice time on a good team. He got time on the PP and PK.

He is not afraid to stand in the crease. On the Friars' second goal, which was a PPG, McQueen put up a great screen. Play-by-play guy commented that there was no way a goalie could see around a player of McQueen's height. He had some nice tips in front at other points in the game.

He also drives the net well. Didn't seem afraid of being hit. There was one drive that was really excellent in the third period.

Seems like a decent face-off man. Gets very low (for his height) on draws. Was tossed a few times by the linesmen.

Nice tap passes, soft hands.

His penalty was a bit of a lazy penalty. He held on to a guy who beat him, which resulted in the Quinnipiac player getting dumped.

Overall, he is a going to be a fun player to watch, for sure.

Anyone else watch the game?

  1. Thanks for the write-up. I figured he wasn’t gonna play this weekend. Providence has him listed at 6’6” which is insane. Really hoping he has a great season and we potentially get to see him rocking a Ducks sweater at the end of the year.

  2. No I missed the game but good write up. Definitely a warm up game for him since he missed the other game and hopefully next weekend he starts racking up the points. I think Providence is going to have a solid team and hopefully make the frozen 4.

  3. Great summary. Really appreciate it because I wouldn’t have been able to see the game.

He looks like a 10 yo kid in the pic lol

If he pans out, we’re so stacked at the center. Will be interesting to see who our 3C/4C will be in a few years
