MARK STONE ON VEGAS GOLDEN KNIGHTS LOSS AGAINST SAN JOSE SHARKS
Um, we played pretty good defensively for the most part, but offense needs to start coming. We got to start finding a bit of chemistry is I think what the the issue is. Um, you know, we play playing a little bit uh I don’t even know how to explain it. Uh, we didn’t score very much. So, we scored a lot last year. So, um, just got to get a little bit more sharp, I’d say. Is there anything you could take from a game like this or do you have to look at CAM the practices and the games as a whole going into Wednesday? Well, we got four days now, right? Uh this was the last uh last game uh to prepare. So, you want to want to be playing well. Um you know, we had our looks we go shots. We just need to be better offensively. I think, like I said, I think our defensive game is there. Um just got to execute a bit of a higher level. uh got to score goals a lot of different ways. You know, our rush game will be there. Uh we got to be a little bit uh more supportive uh in their end. Uh kind of leave each other on islands. I think we can get that close support especially against teams that uh you know kind of swarm you start to that’s when it start to open up. You get some shots, get some rebounds. Same for the power play. I think that’s when we get our our looks when we get pucks in the net, retrieving pucks, breaking them down. Um, you know, like I said, we got four days now, so we’ll try and work at that until Wednesday. One of the highlights we’ve been talking about through preseason is how good your line has looked with William Carlson and Riley Smith. What have you liked most about playing with those guys? Yeah, we’ve been for the most part pretty solid. I think we can be a little uh a little more opportunistic. Uh, we’ve had some pretty good looks uh over the last especially two games. Um, you know, look at the first period, a couple back door plays. I just got to put we just got to put the bucket in. It’s the way it is. Uh um you know I’d be a lot more concerned obviously if you’re not getting the chances. We are getting the chances. We just got to bear down and put some balls in to get this team up. What do you think about the looks on the power play today other than obviously the finishing but Yeah. Yeah. We for sure had some um this is the first time we’ve all played together obviously. So um it’s going to be a little bit of a learning curve but thought overall we we had some chances. We just got to capitalize on know maybe one or two plays where we maybe overpass to need to try and get get some pucks today cuz like I just said about five you start to get shots you you start to retrieve pucks. I mean we got big guys at the net. Hurdle does a great job retrieving pucks. I’m pretty good at retrieving pucks. Uh once you you you kind of get them trying to swarm and trying to clear pucks you win those and that’s when you start to to see the breakdowns. I think that’s where most of our chances honestly came from today especially in the second period. What do you think Shay offers? Last one guys. Last one. Well, he can shoot, right? He’s got a bomb. Um, under underrated bomb. So, um, we’re gonna need that for sure. But, uh, he’s just good with the puck, right? He can he can skate. He can he can move up and down that that area. You know, obviously he he’s never played there, right? So, he’s not used to it either, but he’s getting he’s getting comfortable there. Where to be me and him, get more chemistry together, finding seams. Um, I don’t know. Like I said, it’s a learning curve. You want to have success. I thought we had some chances. Um, but ultimately we we try to take it upon ourselves to spare it. Thanks, Mark. Thanks, Mark.
