The Pelicans Are Hiding A HIDDEN GEM…

The Pelicans are hiding a hidden gem as this player’s return from injury could give them the scoring punch and versatility that they’ve been missing over the last few seasons. We’re going to take a look at who that player is and also give you an update on what’s going on with the Pels in Australia inside this edition of Pelican’s Digest. What’s good with it, my people? Come hit that subscribe button, like the video, and also share with your peoples, man. And uh as the bells get cracking in Australia down under uh in the next couple of days, uh they had their first press conference today and ain’t too much to report from that press conference at all really. Uh but I did find it fascinating that there is a lot of interest going into uh I guess the start of this series and also the start of this season on what the Bills are going to do as far as with rotations because the very first question in that press conference to Willie Green was what rotation are you starting with when you start this NBA this NBL series on Friday night? and and Willie was like, “I I ain’t going to tell y’all that right now, but you know, we going to rule out something.” So, and I think that’s fascinating that people want to know what kind of roster it is because people are starting to wake up to the fact that on paper the Pelicans could possibly contend in the Western Conference better than what’s being anticipated. Okay, they’re starting to look at not only the starting five and Zion and Herb and and uh Trey and Jordan Pool and Looney, they’re also starting to see that hold on, there’s something on that bench back there. They got they got they ain’t got no weak bench over here. That’s something that we could probably say for once on this team that we have depth on this team that feels like it’s going to be quality depth if this guy if these guys stay healthy. And one of the players that came over from the Pelicans that were new this season uh that a lot of people aren’t talking about that much is Sadique Bay. Uh I think a lot of people are sleeping on Sadi Bay because again he’s coming off an ACL injury uh from not last season but the season before that and he’s going to be ready to go on opening night and there’s even some folks who say that he could be the X factor that the Pelicans need for this upcoming season. Uh, but one thing is for sure, he’s already drawing comparisons to another former Pelicans player that was a fan favorite. A lot of people love this guy. And we even had a nickname for him. And here’s what Willie Green had to say about that comparison. Uh, and well, let’s start with this because the reason why a lot of people aren’t talking about uh, Sadi Bay in my opinion is because of what the media considers him to be. Though he may have been deemed a me a trade throwin by media members, Bay has a chance to make a major impact in the Crescent City. Something he did as an Atlanta reserve for a 2023 squad that represents his long playoff trip which was a round one loss to Boston in six games. And again, people I think forget that. I think people forget that Sadique Bay played an intricral part with Atlanta while he was there. and you know and plus you lost a season to him because he never played a minute with Washington. So yeah, a lot of people saw that as a throw in, but the Pelicans saw the value in him and saw what he brings to the table. And what he brings to the table, what Willie Green said in his press conference uh today was he’s sort of that Swiss Army knife type of player. He can play multiple positions, score, post up, defend, rebound. Those guys are extremely valuable to a team success. He’s a really good player. Green said he has a high IQ defensively. He’s physical and can guard multiple positions. And one of the big knocks on this Pelican roster so far, the new this newly reconstructed Pelicans roster is wing death. A lot of people feel like you don’t have a lot of wing death, which I find to be silly because yes, the wings are for the most part Trey Her. You put Jordan Hawkins in there. Uh, but you also still got Sadique Bay standing there. And the other thing that that if you notice in some of the photos that they’re working out with, and plus this is something we reported about earlier a couple of days ago was that Sadique Bay and Michael Peavey are working out together and they’re being teamed up together. So, that’s going to be a strong second unit when you consider uh Sadique Bay uh and his role. And as you heard Willie Green, you just heard the Willie Green saw in the Willie Green quote quote a Swiss Army knife aka the knife aka Nigi Marshall which is something I think this team had been missing that sort of energy guy. Now I don’t think now Naji was more of an energy guy while still doing all the things that Sadique Bay does. I don’t see Sadique Bay being sort of an energy guy. Sort of like a you know you’re going to get a SP. But I think he’s going to go out there and do his job. Especially when you consider he averages 13 points, uh 6.5 rebounds, and uh is only 26 years old. And again, coming off of ACL injury where he’s rehab very hard and took, you know, pretty much a whole year to get right. And uh so there’s a lot of talk about Sadique Bay being an X factor as well by a lot of different people including Jim Akenheifer who says that despite being a productive player with career averages of 14 point uh 14 points five rebounds over four NBA seasons Bay has been a bit out of sight out of mind in the league especially yesterday uh especially lately and look I’m fine with that. I’m fine with that. Don’t pay attention. Don’t pay attention. don’t know nothing about what’s going on with Sadique Bay, don’t stay out of it. Don’t pay him no mind. Please ignore Sadique Bay. Please. But no, for real though, he is going to be something that’s that’s going to be very important coming off the bench for this team. And especially with him and Peavey, I think if you team those two up, you’re going to have a strong bench. And another thing that a lot of people are raving about, especially Bellicans players like Trey Murphy, Trey Murphy say he’s a great three-point shooter. And that’s another thing that we need in on a second line unit is a wing that at least shoot the Trey and still has that size. Like I said, if you go look at Sadique Bay photos over the last couple of seasons, he’s gotten bigger and stronger. So, you kind of think you can put him in a point a power forward position and get him to battle things out. but also the fact that he can shoot that three is gonna be perfect for this Bellicas team. Especially when you consider that the first thing that they say that they’re working on in training camp was spacing. Spacing, man. You got to be a guy. Look, look, everything that I’m reading, I’m seeing, I’m feeling good about it. And I again, and I’ve been trying to keep my eye on a lot of different things uh outside of the all the negative stuff about the Pelicans, but I feel good about Sadique Bay and and and what he’s going to accomplish this upcoming season because the range of outcomes for him in New Orleans is vast according to Elijah Burlstein of the league. In a best case scenario, Bate provides steady perimeter defense, knockdown shooting, and veteran leadership for a team trying to take the next step in the Western Conference. And you’re telling me I got that coming off the bench? Come on, son. I got Listen, look at these. Listen, they’re going to start waking up to this. You’re going to see the national media start to wake up to this over the next couple of weeks. Watch what I tell you because when you look at this team on paper, I got an NBA champion at point guard who’s coming off career highs who is being held coming who’s coming off career highs while still being held back by a team that was actively trying that’s actively trying to tank in Jordan Pool and the Washington Wizards. I got that at point guard. I got Trey Murphy who’s going to be an all-star as shooting guard. I got the one of the deep premier defenders in basketball in Herb Jones playing a a forward position or a wing position. I still got one of the premier top five rebounders in basketball and Looney in my center position. And I still got 25 point Zion. That’s that’s healthy. And if that all stays healthy, you can’t tell me that can’t contend. But then don’t talk about what I got coming off the bench. I still got an all-star coming off an injury waiting in the tuck that’s going to come back in January. I got two lottery picks and Jeremiah and Derek Queen that could be coming off the bench with a Sadique Bay again not an earthshattering factor but could be a leader on that second unit with a Michael Bey as well who’s another strong upcoming defensive player with Jordan Hawkins, Jose Alvarado. Come on man. Come on man. Come on, man. We We deep. We’re finally I I can We You could look at this team finally if you’re a Pelicans fans and say, “Damn, we are deep. Damn, we we might actually be deep this year.” Because it’s always been we got to rely on the starters, the top five and Zion, whoever’s with Zion, and that’s it. The bench, it was an afterthought. Coming off the bench, afterthought. Always an afterthought. Now you some now you had the 10 11 players like Joe Dumar is talking about that you that you can have that that can compete every night and Sadique Bay is part of that. Uh because again all Sadique Bay has to do is knock down these shots, offer up his defense like he’s been known to do on a second unit and we’re going to be just fine. You don’t have to panic when Zion is not on the floor or those non Zion minutes. Did I mention that I also got an all rookie center also coming off the bench as well? And Eve miss. Come on, son. Come on, man. I got a all all rookie center coming off the bench that’s that’s that’s a raw talent that’s still growing and but still all rookie. Come on, man. You can’t tell me this team ain’t ready, man. We I think I think we can make some noise. I’m being hopeful. I’m being hopeful. Again, what what continues to bother me is the start of how they’re getting this thing started, which is the fact that they got us to going to Australia and Birmingham and all these other places before we go on a seven a 10 game opening season stretch with seven of those games on the road. But at the same time, I think we can build some bonding because we got an early jump on all these other teams. That gives you time, more than enough time to work out the chemistry that needs to happen on this team because you know these NBA these NBL guys are going to come at you man. One of the teams already said the one thing I dig out of the press conference today with one of the NBL teams is they say that they they’re they’re going to fullcourt press. They say you can’t really do that in the NBA, but we going to try that over here. So, be on the lookout for that and be on the lookout for more Pelicans Digest reports right here. So, hit that subscribe button, man. And thank you so much for checking us in. What are your thoughts, though? What are your thoughts on Sadik Bay? Do you think he can be a factor on this Pelicas team this season? I I just laid the case for you or do you disagree? Do you not see it happening? I think if he stays healthy, he can be an important factor off that bench, on that second line. We got to start calling it the second line. You know how we do. Uh, we got to start calling it the second line. What are your thoughts on Sadique Bay and his addition to the Pelicans? Clap back with your thoughts in the comments. 1. Oh yeah, Bey will definitely will be a contributing factor off the bench. I love that most of the media isn't talking about the Pels being a good team this season. They are going to look up and Pels will be in 3rd in the West.. #FlyingUndertheRadar

  2. yep Yep. they have been downright disrespecting this team the entire offseason, so lets see what they say when this team is in contention. anyways I have no doubt they will exceed expectations

  3. last I saw two reporters, one said this team is a mess. what kind of line up is this. The other said, well at least they will have a lottery pick next, oh thats right they gave it away…of course they started laughing. I got rabbit ears Pels, make em eat those words

  4. Keep it up brotha. I'm from uptown 3rd ward calliope but I live in enemy territory in ATL. I love your unbiased informative coverage of our team.thanks for your content and keep it up brotha👊🏾💯

  5. I can't wait to see what they working with, because on paper The Pels are nice on the Second Line. Bey can definitely be a solid backup for Z.

  6. We got a nice collection of players. Hopefully the sum is better than the parts. I still worry about Jordan basically being the 2nd option. Not sure if that gets it done in the upper West standings.

But, getting that Saddiq Bey is gonna be invaluable. Dude is a NICE player. Definitely X factor. I can see him closing games if he's got a hot hand. Thats what made that trade for me. His 3 ball is solid and his D is strong. I wanted to draft him in that 2020 draft when they went with Kira Lewis inept, non factor game. I was mad that didnt happen bc he was there for the taking. But, we got him now. We got our Naji back which was sorely missing last year. I see him closing some games if he shooting well.
