Yankees vs. Blue Jays ALDS Game 2 Highlights (10/5/25) | MLB Highlights
The Blue Jays yesterday had the stars deliver. They had the depth of the roster, show up and contribute hits. They scored 10 runs. This is who they’ve been most of this year. And when you think about the stopper, the guy they paid. They went out and got Max Freed. He had a great first start. He’s going to have to slow down this offense and then pass the baton on. And Max Freed has been the stopper for this Yankees club. This is one thing that you want when you pay a guy record contract. When you call him yours, what do you do after a loss? this season 11 and one following a Yankees loss. On the mound for the Jays is righty Treya Savage. No one got a bigger roar announced in the starting lineup before today’s game than the rookie right-hander Trey Savage. His fourth start at the big league level comes in the playoffs against the New York Yankees. He’s a very unorthodox top of the the the the height of 7.1 ft to deliver a baseball. So hitters don’t see that very often. Straight over the top fast ball split slider and he begins with a strike out on that splitter. Well, heartbeat check. Pitches check. Had two hits yesterday, but in the biggest spot struck out with the bases loaded. It is a four pitch walk and Judge is the first base runner for the Yankees. The Savage’s parents making the trip up from Boyertown, Pennsylvania. Cheryl and Dave. Yankees have a base runner and they have Cody Bellinger at the plate on another two. Two. A swing and a miss and that splitter nose dives to get Bellinger. It’s straight over the top and straight down and you can see they’re going to be some funky swings. Ben Rice up with Judge on first. Three strikeouts in the first inning for the kid. And how about the 22year-old kid from Pennsylvania, Trey Yavich strikes out Gisham, allows a walk to judge and then punches Bellinger and Rice. 19 wins during the regular season to lead the majors and then six and a third scoreless innings in his first postseason start against Boston. Yeah, he’s got about 17 different ways you can get you out. Five, six pitches and there’s the split of what he does and you just can’t eliminate anything. And when he’s in his mechanics and he doesn’t race off to third base and fall off, he’s tough to hit. One- one to George Springer is chopped left side for Ryan McMahon in the first. Davis Schneider up. One out base is empty. Not a 10. Schneider cracks a line drive. Base hit to line. First hit of the day for the Blue Jays comes from Davis Schneider in his first career postseason at bat. Schneider the man aboard and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. at the plate. Big old bounce. Won’t be an easy play. Chisum has none. Everything going Guerrero’s way so far in this division series. Infield hit and the Blue Jays have set the table in the first against Free. Yeah, they put the ball in play. So when you put the ball in play, things like this can happen. And the one thing that Max Freed has to do is limit the damage when the runners are on because they are a momentum offense. Grounds one right at Chisum. Should be two. It will be to get Freed out of this inning unscathed. Sean Carlos Stanton leads off the second inning for the Yankees after three strikeouts from the rookie Yavage. On a payoff pitch, chases strike three. Slider gets in. Four outs, four Ks. Chisum with the half-hearted swing and a pop into shuttle left center field and Mennez caught off by Schneider and a quick out right there. There’s the numbers 0 for 13 and and it hasn’t even been close. So yeah, couple double whammies. You have never seen this guy. Video doesn’t do you any justice. You got to see it in the box and when you’re in the box you’re like, “Oh shoot, maybe I don’t want to see it. Maybe I don’t.” McMahon into right field for Miles Straw. Couple scoreless innings for the 22y old Varo the left-hander leading off the inning and he does with a base zip down the line. Judge over to grab it with that sore elbow and Varo’s into second. The ball gets by Judge. Vo’s at third. Dalton Vo electrifies Rogers center. A double and an error lands him on third base to begin the bottom of the second. in between first and second. That’s when Aaron Judge fumbled that baseball down in the right field corner. Daltton Bar did a great job picking up third base coach Carlos Fabless and he ends up at third base here to lead off this inning. Here’s one of the spots where the Blue Jays thrive. Runner at third, nobody out. Ernie Clement lanes into one to deep left field. It is gone. Ernie Clement makes it two to nothing. And if the roof was on this place right now, Buck, they’d have blown it right off of here. Unbelievable scene here at the Rogers Center. Two nothing Blue Jays. Ernie Clement has been one of the best first pitch hitters in the game. And he kills left-handed pitching. And he just jumped on the first pitch for Max Fre and knocked it out of the ballpark. Two nothing. A triple by Baro. A homer by Clement and Trey Savage looks to keep cruising. He has retired six of seven so far with four strikeouts. Big righty is Savage into the wine. The two swinging him. Strike three. Fifth K for you Savage already with one out the top of the third. So one out and Austin Wells is up the nine hitter and catcher. Strike out number six. First time through the order. One of the best offensive teams in baseball. He has six strikeouts. I mean, it’s as if he’s been doing this his whole life. Two outs. Trent Gisham. Six Ks through two and two/3. And Trey Yavage has struck out the side and through three innings he’s got seven strikeouts. He walked him. The Blue Jays battle and grind and a huge walk with one out because it brings up Vladimir Guo Jr. He smacks him right center field. He’s two for two. He’s got five hits in the first two games of the division series. Jays have him cornered. It’s amazing what a week off and trying to reset that swing can do for a guy who is really struggling. One out and runners on the corners. Bottom three. They’re hoping for a double play ball out of Kirk that got Freed out of a jam in the first. Kirk puts it in play right side. Rice’s only play is at first. Freed covers but a run comes through the back door and an RBI for Kirk. Schneider scores. Three to nothing Blue Jays. Three nothing Blue Jays. Vario hitting. Two outs and Guerrero on second. Down the line at third ball. Guerrero can walk home. Vio’s got extra bases again. his second double in three innings. Max Freed had given up one run in his last 20 innings. He’s given up four in two and two/3. Right down the line and Marshall’s not messing around. Two outs. Bottom of the third. Ernie Clement back up. He hit the two-run homer last inning. One, two to left field and a base hit. Here comes Marshall. Bellinger’s throw. No chance. an extra 90 ft on the throw home. Ernie Clemen knocked in three of the Blue Jays five. This team hasn’t gotten the credit it deserves for the season it’s put together and now people around the country are understanding just how good they are. One and a half RA for Freed over his last seven starts and yet they have five runs on him. Trey Yusavage has struck out seven through three innings so far. A dominant start for Trey Yusavich. Payoff from the Savage Juds and misses right upstairs to get him with the fast. His eighth strikeout in three and a third. One out. Cody Ballinger up. He strikes out another former MVP. Unreal. He’s got nine strikeouts. The Yankees all out of short. So this already is a Blue Jays single game postseason record. We’re only in the fourth. Two swinging a strike three. 10 strikeouts in four innings. He’s already set the single game Blue Jays postseason record and he adds to it getting a double figures with a splitter on the outer half. Max Freed remains on the hill. He’ll face Andre Jimenez as the Blue Jays try to add to their lead right now up 5 nothing. Jimenez slaps this one to third. McMahon heaves it across infield hit Andres. Now he will swing away and take ball four instead. First to a breach stay and nine in the order. It’s first and second, nobody out. And here comes Aaron Boone. That’s going to be the day for Max Freed. My goodness, that is unbelievable. One of the premier pitchers in the game. Taken out. No outs in the bottom of the fourth and the Blue Jays have put five on him with two more on base. Yankees pen takes over. It’s Will Warren. 3-1 outside. Ball four. A five pitch walk to Springer. Bases loaded, nobody out and Davis Schneider walking up to home play. Here’s his one, two, and it’s in there to get Schneider. But that’s still just the first down of the inning. And now here comes Guerrero, who had a moment in the bottom of the first yesterday, hitting his first big league home run of the playoff game and looking to deliver again here right now. Right. He’s 2-1. Swinging a deep drive left field. That ball is soaring out of here. A grand slam. [Applause] Pitch yourself all you want. You will not wake up from this dream right now. The Blue Jays lead 9 nothing on a Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Grand slam. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. He’s got this entire country. Forget about this stadium on their feet. I think that did make it to Niagara Falls. My goodness, that might have been the prettiest swing of his career. A grand slam for Guerrero. Man, is he on fire. My goodness. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. He’s now six for seven with two homers, six RBI’s, and a curtain call in the jacket as he fires up the fans. They scored 10 yesterday. They have nine in the fourth inning. through the right side. You were talking about that when he was up last time, that big hole on the right side. Here’s Daltton Vo. You know, it sounds funny to say, but VO’s kind of been overshadowed a little bit in this series. He’s four for five with two doubles and a triple. Pat two. Vo drives it right field. Judge Gurlin back. It’s out of here again. Two-run homer, 11 nothing lead thanks to a Dalton Baro blast. We’re still in the fourth. The Blue Jays are out bombing the Bombers. Third home run of the ball game. Fifth home run in this series for a team that’s noted for their power. That was just a hanging change up from Will Warren. And Daltton Varo was all over it. That’s what the Blue Jays have been doing all season long. They get into good hitters counts, they get mistakes, and they make the opposing team play. Hey, what a swing from Daltton Marshall. Trey Savage has thrown four hitless innings punching out 101 on the ground back. Candid at first. No, it’s off the foot of Guerrero rather and into right field. A base hit. Looked like Vlatty had come up with it, but it hit him on the foot and it’ll go into right. The fans are rooting for an error to go up on the board rather than a hit. We await the official scoring decision. No hits yet for the Yankees. And there is the error up on the board. The fans cheer because still no hits for the Yankees. Pop fly left side of the diamond. Clement into foul ground. Has plenty of room. He’s got it. Two out. The one two swinging miss strike three. 11 in five hitless innings for Trey Savage. His strikeouts match the Blue Jays runs today. 11 nothing. They lead middle of the fifth. Two outs for George Springer. Springer cooks one left center field. That’s headed for the seats. It’s gone. Springer’s first hit of the postseason is a home run. A dozen for the Blue Jays. His 20th career postseason homer. Tied for fifth most in major league history. And plenty of them have come against the New York Yankees. He does that again. Tell you what, man. They are wearing out that homer jacket. I I believe it now has some rips in it and they keep passing it around. Trey Savage pitching the Blue Jays to a 12 nothing advantage. Y Savage has not allowed a hit. Walking one and punching out 11. Wells into shallow center field maybe. Either way, it’s going to be an easy one for Jimenez. That’ll send John Schneider up the dugout steps and we will give it off to Rogers Center for their appreciation of Treya Savage. 44,000 on their feet. A little upset initially with the hook. But again, this isn’t about putting a no hitter in the record books. It’s about winning now and winning going forward. And Trey Savage has helped them do that today. There is the curtain call as he comes out, pets his heart, shows his affection for the fans. He’s 22. He’s a child. We’re here with Dave Yavage and Cheryl Yavage, parents of the man who just made some postseason history. Dave, what was your reaction watching that? Oh my gosh. Well, number you know what? Hey, he he went to work. He did his job. He did his job. He knows what his job is. And he is not in a better fan base than right here in Toronto with all of these fans, all of his family right here. Justin Brule, the left-hander, is in for the Blue Jays. his first appearance in the postseason since he pitched in 2021. Rules 2-2 on the ground left side backhanded Andre Jimenez’s long throw to first not in time and it will be an infield hit for Aaron Judge. So the combined no hit bid is done. So a base runner with two down for Cody Bellinger. Bellinger crushes the ball down the line and gone. Yankees get on the board on a Cody Bellinger home run. It’s 12-2. Binger the best lefty lefty hitter in baseball this year. Connects on one right here. First home run of the postseason. So line drive home run by Bellinger. He is on the board. It’s 122. Dalton Vo up to the plate. He’s had a heck of a game. Three for three, two doubles and a homer. One two to Varo and he crushes one out to right field. Judge on the run looking up at the fence. It’s out of here. Multihomer game for Dalton Maro. 13-2 the Blue Jays lead in the bottom of the sixth. That was a curve ball from Will Warren that almost bounced in the dirt. It was about two balls below the strike zone. Dalton Vo went down and golfed it out of here to right field. He’s four for four in this ball game. A couple of home runs. I mean, he is really swinging the bat well right now. Couldn’t have come at a better time for the Blue Jays. So, the Yankees have loaded them up. You got McMahon at third. Goldmith at second, Gisham at first for Aaron Judge. And here comes John Schneider. Blue Jays bring in Tommy Nance. Bases loaded, one out. 13-2 Blue Jays in the top of the seventh inning. Aaron Judge is the batter. Jam shot center field. Voel comes on. It drops in front of him for a base hit if the throw to third is laid. And it is. So it’s an RBI single for Aaron Judge. And it’s 13-3. Bellinger already with a homer. Bellinger pokes one towards the left field corner. Shaw on the run with a sliding catch. Miles Straw, one of the top defenders in the American League, takes away extra bases. Gorge to score, but it could have been a whole lot worse. One of those moves that really has helped their defense. That ball gets by. All three runs score. Get a hush in the crowd a little bit. If there’s anybody that needs to get going for the Yankees, you know, we got a hit. His last time up, it’s this guy. Hits it hard in the air to right field. Lucas going back. He’ll turn and watch a hit off the top of the wall. Gishamin to score. Rice headed for second. Slide is there. RBI double for Ben Rice. And it’s 13 to five. Yankees nine hits the last two innings. And I don’t know if this comeback is going to have enough steam in it. the hole too deep. But the Yankees getting something to feel good about going back. Just anything that changes the narrative of the hitter going, I haven’t made contact. You just start you start feeling a little bit better even though you may not come away with a win. Two aboard, two outs. Stanton to left field. That’s a base hit. Judging to score Rice is right behind him. And don’t look now, but the Yankees have cut it to 13-7. and Mason through Hardy, the left-hander in. He will get Chisum. Six hits, five runs in for the Yankees. Chisum rolls one to first. Guerrero in the glove and steps on first. And that will end a very long and painful inning for the Blue Jays relievers. They give up five runs. And it’s Louis Varon who was probably down there thinking, n I got a couple days off here. We’re up 12 to nothing. Now he’s pressed into duty here. 13-7 the game they trailed 12 to nothing at one point. McMahon lays a bunt down. Varin fields it over to first in time for the first down of the eighth. His payoff back to him. Fielding his position for the first two outs of the eight. 01 on the ground left side charging. Clement gloves knee high throws on the run to first and a one, two, three inning is pitched by Louis Varlin. Anthony Dominguez. The Jays not messing around. going to one of their top guys here. 02 pitch swinging miss strike three. He got him on a breaking ball back foot and Gisham miss sat down. Judge takes the walk aboard for the fourth time today. Two walks, two singles. Bouncing ball towards the middle at first. Two out. It’s Ben Rice who’s gotten his first two hits of this series. His last two times up. Rice takes the walk. He’s saying if I see one more splitter. So two outs in this ninth inning issued by Dominguez. John Carlos Stan who went 0 for his first six in this series and one for his first 17 in the postseason is two for his last two in his knocked in a pair. Lopsided. The Toronto Blue Jays are a win away from the championship series. What a fantastic overall game from the Toronto Blue Jays on the offensive side, on the pitching side. But the story of the day is Trey Savage. He was a relatively unknown coming into this ball game. People know about Trey Savage now. What a performance from him. His fourth career major league game was in a playoff game against the New York Yankees and he struck out 11. And the Blue Jays in the driver’s seat with a two nothing lead, knowing in the best of five, 89% of the teams that go up two zip win the series.

Keep in mind, the Jays best hitter is not in this series.
倍當兒子打😂
Max Freid looks fried skinny 😂😂😂
Blue Jays Play good baseball their dominated the yankees in those 5 innings that pitcher made it hard for yankees to compete one more win and their advance Yankees have been shocking in both games
The fan who grab that gramslam with bare hands is ironman
There done yankees fan its over
Desavage is definitely a rare beast, his heart is on the wrong side of his body 😂
YeSAVAGE just throwing Canon balls here
Judge should dh only; he can’t play baseball. Bellinger can’t throw home from left field. Paycheck players. In contrast, the Jays are the real deal!
Yesavage dad so hyped he was about to go down and start high fiving the players haha
What a game! Yesavage setting franchise records and Vladdy Jr bombing Niagara Falls! From Colorado, GO JAYS, GO!
Blu Jays are faul!
Aaron judge is a great regular season player.
But He really really doesn’t know how to deal with playoffs. He needs a mental trainer
Yankees destroyed twice by Toronto
Bluejays knew what were coming.
Yankees batters should have just closed their eyes when they were batting and they would’ve scored 10 runs in first inning through walks!!
let's go Vladdy !!!!!
Dodger fan here, scouting Trey Yesavage. He is intimidating.
Why pull him in the 5th?
Playoff baseball is the best!
How can you not love baseball?
I said it yesterday and i’ll say it again in dutch PAK SLAAG! 🤣
Is it Boone or the players? They have to make a change somewhere.
I was at this game, I will never forget it for as long as I live. Skydome was loud AF, the atmosphere was electric, there is no way Yankees can win there even IF it gets to game 5. Yankees are done ✔️
藍鳥兩場比賽真是不可思議~可以創造系列賽歷史嗎?
So, pulling out their starter was suppose to be a strategic move!?? Almost cost them the game! Luckily jays had a 13 zip lead. I say keep him in as long as u can! Until he shows signs of fatigue
I was a Yankees fan for 25 years before last month. I was absolutely crushed when they celebrated a racist pedophile and rapist at their Septemeber 11th game. Until the Yankees issue an apology for allowing such a horrendous person as a guest at their stadium, I cannot stomach being a fan of theirs anymore. I'm glad they're getting embarrassed by Toronto.
This should be Red Sox vs Blue Jays. All three wild card games in the Bronx is legit not ok or fair in any way. If all 3 are played at Fenway what do you thinks happening?? Its bull sht. Yankees are a bad team. Period
Yanks getting pounded 😅
Whenever Yankees lose, America wins.
Whenever Yankees get thrashed, America celebrates.
Why even play the next game? You beat a team this badly the first 2 then you should have to forfeit your right to play the 3rd game
