BLOCKBUSTER DEAL! DAVID NJOKU SIGNS WITH THE 49ERS IN A HISTORIC TRADE! SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS NEWS

for it to end for them to win this game, for Jones to battle the way he is, bloodied, limping, for that defense to stone them on a yard. How do you best quantify what that Niner squad did? Man, it’s hard to hard to put into words what the 49ers did tonight. You just think about all the injuries that the 49ers have sustained. We talked about it upstairs when we were watching the game and have M. Jones. Matt Jones 3 and 0. 3 and 0 this year. He’s been playing unbelievable football. Neither team could really run the ball. It was really on the uh on both quarterbacks. But M. Jones was just phenomenal. And that Rams defense couldn’t really get to him for most of the game. And so shout out to Kyle Shanahan for the game plan, getting the ball out of his hands quick and all it takes is just sometime these games come down to one play. The NFL has become all the kids that play Madden and just go for it on fourth down all the time, right? You play back I mean I’ll take it back to the day with Techmo bowls just to hell with it. We’re going for it on fourth down. But that’s sort of the that’s sort of the game these days. And fourth and one, you tie it and you give it back to them in San Francisco who’s been death by 100 paper cuts all night. Could drive down and Pinterero has already made a bunch. Do you like the decision to go for it before we know what happened? Do you like the call? I do like the call. Like you So do I. I like the call. They you the Rams were moving the ball. There’s no question about it. They had especially in the second half. They were really getting things cranked up. Um, but you got to give credit to the 49ers in that situ. They absolutely stoned them at the line of scrimmage. And that had to be an exhausted defense who had mostly been on the field. I mean, they got three plays arrest. Granted, there were three timeouts in between each of the ners plays after they got the fumble recovery. I like the call. I just don’t know if I like the run into the middle of that line when I’ve got Puka Nakua. I’ve got Kairen Williams out of the back field. I’ve got Devonte Adams. I just I don’t like the call. I don’t mind going for it, though. I would agree with you. I would have rather gotten on the edges of the defense, not just sitting up in the middle where you got Fred Warner and all those big bodies in the middle of that defense. Mhm. All right, let’s let’s hear from Trent Williams who is with Lindseay Theory after he did a masterful job versus an absolute wrecking ball. This Rams team came into this night with the most sacks in the NFL and for the most part they kept their hobbled backup quarterback upright. Here’s Williams. Trent, a game-winning stop from your defense. What did you see? this ball, man. Uh, it was a tough game. Divisional opponent, that offense is is clicking on all cylinders, but they made the play. They made the play. You guys come in without Brock Party, without most of your starting receivers. How do you pull off a win? Next man up. We got We got talent. We got talent on this roster. Obviously, uh, it hurts to not have Brock, KD, you know, I Ricky, but, you know, it truly is a next man up league. You know, that’s the only thing you control is when you get your opportunity to make the best out of it. Trent, you’ve been a part of many of these Rams Niners rivalry games. Where does this one rank? Woo. It It’s up there. It’s up there. Um, you know, but like you said, we we’ve had a lot of we’ve had a lot of battles, so you know, I I can’t say that it’s number one, but it’s up there. Congratulations on the win. Thank you. All right. Thank you. That’s a vet who’s seen plenty of different battles. He He knows. I mean, you could say next man up, and of course it is because you got to feel the team, but the next man up isn’t the guy he’s replacing. And so to win in this fashion, flying back home, short win, but that’s that’s got to be as satisfying a win. And I’m just interested, Damen, how does a win like this when the next men up really do show out in this manner? How does that propel a team forward? Oh, it absolutely does. And you and it’s so gratifying when when guys who are thrusted in roles to go out there and and play ball like play make big plays in the game. And trust me, when you’re on that plane going back home after a big divisional road win, it it’s like few things are more satisfying in life than going out there and getting a win like the 49ers got tonight. I think I’m connecting the dots correctly that Kendrick Bourne’s best year was with Mack in New England. So the that that familiarity on a night where they were clearly on the same page. I just I know I don’t have a ton of time. I just surprised the Rams never they just never seemed to take away. It was just under under under. I’m going to make you throw it over my head. I I just couldn’t get over why they wouldn’t do that. I don’t know. I don’t I don’t remember one time where the Rams just really I mean they pushed the ball down the field. They mostly didn’t have to. They didn’t. They didn’t. You credit to M. Jones for getting the ball out of his hands quickly. How many first downs did they have? Just Excuse me. This is great television as I peruse the stat sheet. It’s 27 first downs, 47 yards. They held the ball for more than 40 minutes. And I think the the most important thing you can do if you’re San Francisco is not allow Stafford in this Rams offense to have the football, right? I mean, absolutely. And then but they turn him over on the goal line. They stop him on fourth and one. That is a I mean this as I talk through it, that’s a that’s good. Complete team win. And Pinterero who’s on the couch three weeks ago from 50s something and off the off the upright. I mean, you Shanahan, I’m just watching the video here. I’m I’m watching the the coverage of Shanahan was a lot of expletives, but the the emphatic like f yeah. And I get it, man. It’s a win like this. I mean, it can’t be more satisfying a win than when you’re down to the guys that we’re down to. That NFC West may be it may be the toughest division in football. Well, I’m saying right now, there’s not one bad team in the bunch. Even like Arizona last week, you still had to play for 60 plus because they managed to come back and tie that game against Seattle. I think we’re going to talk about Seattle a little bit later if Damen’s going to stick around. All right, this we’re going to stop talking visit with Damen Woody on the weekend games coming up, but week five gets off to a thrilling start as in overtime needing a yard basically the entire San Francisco defense rallies to the spot and they prevent Kairen Williams from moving the change. Robert Salah and his squad. Next man up. Um Lynch in that front office is happy as well. You know what? You know what that means to get that one on the road in the division is under man as they were. All right. Philadelphia 4-0 welcoming death to the regular season. So our starting I just don’t think Give them some credit, right? That’s fine. I just don’t think that lineup is as good as the Dodgers lineup or the Phillies lineup. I just don’t No. No. Those might be the best, too. We’re going to find out about that, too, won’t we? Let’s move to football. The Thursday night game had all kinds of drama. The San Francisco 49ers vastly injured, beat the Rams in overtime when the Rams went on fourth and one rather than kick a tying field goal. Rams coach Shawn McVey took full responsibility for the bad play call that got stuffed for no gain. Tone, did the Niners win this thing or did the Rams lose it? So, I’m going to be honest here. I was watching the baseball. I did not go over and watch the football. I didn’t see any plays at all. So, this morning I I saw the highlights and I was stunned at the result. I didn’t think San Francisco had any chance in this game. They don’t have their quarterback. They don’t have any of their top receivers and they’re on the road. I mean, I I don’t I have the Rams winning comfortably. And as it turns out, San Francisco is the longest underdog of the year so far to win eight and a half points. You know, but but what is also true is you cannot fumble on the one yard line with a minute to go when you’re about to go in for the winning score. You simply can’t do that. From everything I’ve seen, everything I’ve read, everything I’ve heard, the Rams had multiple opportunities to win that game and did not cash in. So, in that sense, in that sense, I will say that the Rams lost the game. I don’t want to take away from San Francisco at all because they’re now three and0 in the division, but I would say the Rams lost the game. What would you say once it’s 4 nothing Yankees? What are you still doing on that game? You got a clicker in your hand. Like every every man’s got to have a clicker. What are you doing? It’s four nothing. I have loved October baseball that I’ve seen. I have loved it. But at that point, you go click. I’m going to the football like a director. You can’t get stuck on the wrong cut. What are you doing? So here’s the thing, Tone. The Rams made mistakes. You’re right. But Tony, those mistakes were forced. They were not unforced error. When you get a punch out like the 49ers were able to pull to knock that ball loose at the goal line and then you stop somebody on fourth and one who’s as creative and called a genius like Shawn McVey uh uh uh uh uh uh uh let’s give the 49ers missing half their players. Let’s give them credit. And now they may have a quarterback controversy. Let’s give them credit for winning that game. So let me get let me get to this. Let me get to the quarterback circumstance. Rock Purdy is a great story. He was the last guy drafted. He proved himself and he got a big contract, but M. Jones was a firstround pick. And in his rookie year in New England, he looked pretty good before he dissolved after that. And the last teams that he’s been with, New England after that and Jacksonville, he was coached by people who know nothing about offense. Nothing. So Kyle Shanahan knows about offense. I’m not going to be surprised if Matt Jones end up in that job. I’m not. Let’s take a break. When we come back, which team is more like maybe accumulate some assets here. Who else would be sellers in your mind in the NFL? Yeah, certainly the Jets. And I think they would take offers on every player. It doesn’t mean you’re moving on from Quinton Williams or Sauce Gardner, but you’ll at least entertain uh what someone might say on the other end of the phone. Uh the other team that sort of got my interest were the Cleveland Browns. David and Jooku is the last year of his deal. Uh see he’s on his second contract. He’s currently the second leading receiver of that team behind rookie tight end Harold Fannon Jr. But I don’t know if they’re going to bring in Jooku back. They have a ton of needs quarterback. We’ll see by Dylan Gabriel and also they have to short that wide receiver room. You could trade in Jooku to a team like say the 49ers uh who as we mentioned George KD has been banged up. Brayoki is not yet back from that ACL tear from a year ago and you can never give M. Jones/ Brock Py too many weapons. So, I think the Browns could be in the business of looking to move on from guys. It doesn’t mean they’re giving up on the season. They need to find out what they have in their quarterbacks, comma, whether it’s Dylan Gabriel, rookie, or Shador Sanders, their fifth round pick, who’s also a rookie, because they have two first round picks going into next year’s draft. And Mike, you can guarantee that if this quarterback group does not work out in Cleveland, they will be drafting one at some point uh in late April. What about teams that will be buyers? because in about a month we’re going to start really I think gaining that separation of who are for real playoff contenders and and who aren’t. So who might be at the top of your list for who might want to go out and add for that playoff push? Yeah, let’s go to the NFC and two teams that immediately came to mind. The Philadelphia Eagles have been hit or miss in terms of consistency. They’re still undefeated and and the best team or one of the best teams uh in the conference and in the NFL. Uh but they need some edge rush help. We know about the guys in the middle that clogged things up and how they played so well uh over the course of this season, but what about Trey Hendrickson coming from Cincinnati to be some edge rush help uh for that Eagles team. And uh Trey has not been happy in Cincinnati the last two years. They gave him a slightly rework deal for one more year on his current contract. He wants to get paid. I think he deserves to get paid even though he’s 30. And he would go from a team that is listless as we sit here without Joe Burrow to one that has a chance to win the Super Bowl each and every year. Another team that came to mind were the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Uh maybe Jacobe Myers who wanted a new deal in Las Vegas didn’t get it. Uh Mike Evans has been banged up. Bucky Bucky Irving is not going to play this week. Uh, and they could certainly use some wide receiver help both in the short term uh, while Evans is out, but also in the long term. A mechabuka is going to be truly special, but Jacobe Myers is a production machine and he can do all the dirty work underneath uh, as Baker Mayfield continues to sort of refind himself after leaving a situation in Cleveland uh, and Carolina and the Rams that didn’t quite work out and he’s found his home Tampa Bay. you really put Trey Hendris Hendrickson into the Eagles out there in the universe like that and just freak out a lot of people in the NFL. But Philly, I’m sure, would not mind to see that happen. All right, Ryan, thank you
