Celtics All-Access: Jaylen Brown & Speed, Jayson Tatum visits Patriots, Joe Mazzulla UFC workouts

If you did hear my voice clap once, you can hear my voice clap twice. Excellent. Excellent. A great day. We had some setbacks, the rain every day, but sometimes that’s life, right? Sometimes adversity happens. Sometimes things in life we can’t control. Can we cannot control the rain, right? But we can control how we respond to the rain. and you guys have responded excellently as humans, as living organisms, it’s non-negotiable um for whatever reason that you’ll experience. You experience diversity while you’re here on this planet. No matter what skin color, no matter how tall, how short, how rich, how poor, everybody, believe it or not, experiences adversity. And Tatum is hurt. Tatum is hurt. Jason Tatum underwent successful surgery today to repair a ruptured right Achilles tendon. No timetable is currently available for his return. The team training Drew Holiday to the Trailblazers. The Celtics have traded Christos Porzingis to the Atlanta Hawks. We’re seeing a championship team in 2024 now starting to dismantle. It’s jarring now because this championship is being broken apart. Brad Stevens in this front office, they did what they had to do, right? They needed the priority was to get under that second apron and they did that. If you know that we’re all going to experience adversity, how are you going to respond to it? Are you going to complain? Are you going to check out? Your focus is going to go up, or are you going to show up, change your mindset, still get accomplished, but you can’t get accomplished back? Adversity is something I look at almost as test. It’s a test to see how bad you really want something through adversity. How are you going to respond? I think we knew coming into this summer that um there were going to be a couple of key things that would drive these big decisions this summer. I think the number one was where we stood with regard to the aprons. Um, and we knew that when we put ourselves in pedal to the metal phase a couple of years ago as we finished our season. You add JT’s injury to that. We had to really decide how we were going to go about managing and getting ourselves under the second apron and then creating as much flexibility and our ability to now grow from here as we could. With that came a lot of hard goodbyes, but I think ultimately those were driven by um the realities of the new CBA. And I think we’re obviously going to be different. We’re going to look different, but I’m excited about this group and I’m excited about what this group is capable of. I think Anthony is a guy that his ability to score, his ability to shoot the ball, make really hard shots is pretty elite. Here he comes. Drives into the lane. Got him. Banks scores. get out of here. And you look at a guy that’s 26 years old that’s averaged 20 a game for three straight years. You know, I think he’s a really good player and I think he can get better. My expectations are always the same. Compete like hell to win the next game. You know, like that’s always going to be it. That will always be it. And that’s the way that we’re going to try to put our foot forward. We’re going to go this way. Okay. We’ve got some new guys. We’ve got some guys that’ll have to take on extra in their roles, but we believe in the guys that have been in the building and we look forward to getting the guys that haven’t and all working together to try to create a team that functions well together and plays hard as hell. Good to see you. You know, Luca obviously has been a stats darling, but in limited time behind very, very good players. All right, contract is signed. Awesome. Thank you so much. Congratulations, sir. Yeah, great to have you here. And same thing with Minot. Minot is a guy that brings a lot of versatility to the table. All right, there you go. Congrats. Appreciate it. Appreciate it. Appreciate it. I think the biggest thing is bringing in guys that can complement our best players and our core, but also have some upside and uh maybe some unrealized upside thus far. Walk this way. going sit. Sit. I haven’t thought a ton about how much roster change will change Peyton Pritchard’s work ethic cuz it’s always at the highest. Peyton will prioritize winning, which he always has, and will continue to grow in his game, which he always has. That’s that’s what he does. That’s who he is. I’m in the either the middle or here. It’s either flare for me or I’m coming off the pin down or something. Now, play freely. If you got open shot, you got to take ready. Payton’s just a great example of putting your nose down to work. You know, last year obviously getting the six man of the year award and rightfully so thinks the best is yet to come. All right, let’s get it. Wow. Oh, bro. Shout out to the finals MVP. We love you, King. Thank you for everything. Look at the love for you. Hell yeah. Got to fight on every beat, baby. Thank you for taking the time out today for everybody. A whole lot of love for you out here, man. So, keep it flowing, man. Keep it flowing. Let’s go. Go have fun on the road. All right. All right. I’ll see you next time. Things that I thought that was my adversity or my failures actually turned out to be some of the blessings that were in my life. Failure is all about perception. How you see is the glass half full or is the glass half empty? I like to think the glass is half full cuz I’m on my way to the top. People with more of a pessimistic viewpoint like to think the glass is half empty cuz they’re more worried about what they don’t have. I’m not worried about what I don’t have. is somebody in your same situation that got the same opportunity as you somewhere in the world got probably less than you and they making the most of their situation and they win. The goal of the bridge program is to give you the tools that you need to respond when that adversity happens. We’re going to make sure that through whatever it is, whatever storm, whatever rain comes, we going to create our own sunshine. Does that make sense? Yes, sir. All right. Cuz the world is what? The world is what? Exactly. How you working towards that goal? Do you know how snakes eat their food? Yeah. Yeah. So, it has some preset dances that it’s doing. Let’s just have it back up. Yeah. You’re going to hold it directly in front of the robot. Oh, we’re going to make a shake and hand. Wait to see first. Says he’s got something up his sleep. There’s a lot of ties between team dynamics and individual sport dynamics. As much as everyone thinks that there’s a physical component, I enjoy the mental component to it. And as I continue to grow and as I learn more about who I am as a person and who I am as a leader and who I am under duress, who I am under stress, it’s a very clear mimic to kind of what the job entails, especially, you know, in game. Watch where I go with my Oh, yeah. Right. I’m not going to lean. I’m not going to over commit, but I want to sell this ey line to come down to make him feel as if there’s that option. Perfect. Last one. Beautiful. That’s the one. Yeah. As a coach and at the highest level, you’re nothing without the players. You’re nothing without the relationships that you have with them. And when I watch people train at the highest level, it inspires me to help the guys that I’m with train at the highest level and perform at the highest level physically and mentally. And so, watching them train uh inspires me to be able to be better for the players, right? because they’re trying to do that as individuals just as much as we’re trying to do that as a team. So any leg entanglement you have, try to keep this stapled right there. Yep. Now ground and pound damage. Same thing. Yep. Just watch out. Giving your back away. Yep. Keep that under hook. Mhm. Yeah. So now when you’re on this side of the barrier, what you do is you use the cage as your friend. So now move me to the barrier. Yep. Try to run your head up a little higher. Mhm. and keep your head against the cage so I can’t cut this wizzard now. Yeah. Now that’s right arm damage. No. Yeah. Pull. Now it’s here. Boom. Yep. Big time. And I felt like Eric and Dan had an amazing relationship. And I really wanted to learn more about the coach fighter relationship off the mats, but also in fight, how they communicate with each other to make it the most effective. And you know, Eric’s been great, you know, for me in learning how to uh navigate the different layers of communication. Foxboro training camp 707 Patriots versus the Got to get my scouting on for my fantasy football team. Got to lock in. I’m back. I’m back outside. Incredible. Good to see you. Looking good. Good job. Good job, baby. Good to see you. Appreciate you. Let’s do it. How you doing, baby? Okay. You getting better? Okay, good. Appreciate. Yeah. No, I’m glad. I know. What’s going on, baby? What’s up, buddy? All right, pray for you, man. How you feeling? Good, man. It’s just a different game. Football lit to me, though. I ain’t going to lie. But would I rather be an NBA player? Same honest me like 10 minutes before your time. I’ll just come grab mic. I have doggy. Thank you so much for coming, bro. I’m so excited. This fun, man. Congrats on I heard you’re getting married. Oh, no. We already got married. Got married. I heard you shooting over there in the honeymoon trying to fall on the post test, man. Get out of there, man. You make your own. You make your own. I’m going follow yours. grew up huge fans of the Patriots. Tom Brady was my favorite player, but with that, you know, Edelman and Gron and all them. So, seeing all the Super Bowls and all that and to it’s kind of a full circle moment for me to to be able to do this is it’s a it’s a dream. Hey, what up, baby? We see you out there. Yes. Hello. How you doing? Let’s do it. Hopefully, you can hit the first shot. I know. That is a lot of good. I think go obviously it’s a long season so things can change. Yeah. And it’s not like I’m going to waver in my mindset. So if there ever is a time I need to come off the bench that is okay. But obviously starting and um you know filling the role of guys that left like Drew Holiday uh the people I played behind. So I’ve learned a lot. So I’m ready for the opportunity and uh should we hit the wheel? Not too hard. Oh, donkey. Jack. We’re here with the one and only. We like to train. Today we going to do a little A little striking. See what my man got. We got something planned after that about 30, 40 minutes. I like to train other sports, but I feel like they help you basketball. I do swimming, uh, Muay Thai, chess, chess, paddle. I just help you with basketball. Yo, you play basketball, bro. Godamn. I’m going to do my best. I don’t do really MMA, but here we go, baby. Come on, speed, right? Come on. Way tired. Come on, man. That look good. There we go. Hold on. Yo, this is 4 minutes, bro. I got I got I got hours of stream, bro. I got I Bro, we I can’t burn myself out here, bro. Got some Avengers. But you never do that in a game, bro. Come on. Why not? See what you got. Thank you. That was good work. Appreciate you. All right. Watch out. Watch out. Move the bike. Move the bike. Move your bike. Out the way. We going to lock the door behind. Man, your heart beating hella fast, bro. Calm down. You good hands, bro. We going to play some street soccer. Going to play in a minute. We got some soccer goals. You going to pick your team. You can do two on two, three on three. Play a little bit. I grew up playing soccer. already did. But street soccer, I know it’s hard. So, right now we here in downtown crossing. We about to get some street soccer in. See what speed got. Play a little two on two. Pick some people from the crowd and see what we got. I need y’all to back up. We going to play soccer right here. And we going to choose two people out the crowd to play with us. I got my best. You got to go. Yeah. Appreciate you. Security going to take you out of here. Y the race. Oh, you want good right to the car. Got it. Set. Go. I think like any group, everybody is optimistic right before the season starts. But we have to put in the right amount of work. And we have a bunch of guys that are doing that. We have a bunch of guys with a chip on their shoulder and they’re surrounded and kind of buoyed by guys that have been there, done that, that all they know is winning. I’m excited to watch this group compete because I think that they will bring out the best in one another and it’s going to be fun to watch them grow. I I don’t expect this group to take the floor in the first practice and look like we did at the end of the last couple regular seasons or in the playoffs at different times, especially 2 years ago. But I do expect that it’ll make leaps and bounds fast. I do expect it’ll grow. I do expect some younger players to separate themselves, which will be a lot of fun. And I know what we’re getting from our big dogs. I’m looking forward to it.

  1. I love Payton but he's not an NBA starter IMO. Anfernee Simons however was the number one option for an NBA squad for 3 seasons versus NBA teams number one defensive player every night and executed every night very well. Payton just isn't on that level to me and still inconsistent. He's definitely a mismatch defensively I get sick of watching Payton get trapped in the paint versus bigger guys.
