Below The Belt: Are These Cowboys Narratives Le-Jet Or Not? | Shan & RJ

The great Bobby Belt. I do know ball a little bit. Crosby knows ball. Hey, he knows ball. He’s a ball knower. And we just talk ball. Second and five. Fields play action. Lots of time now. Chased and sacked. Oh, Diggy Zooa got him at the 31 yd line. Good bet or just the Jets? Let’s figure out what’s real and what’s fake about that game yesterday for the Dallas Cowboys. I don’t even like doing this on a Monday. So So yesterday I sat there and I don’t even have the words. It’s pathetic and it’s lame and it’s corny and it’s probably going to make Choppy happy. I am becoming for this Dallas Cowboys football season. I am Jason Garrett process guy. This is the way I’m living my life as a Cowboy and sports fan. I don’t care who it’s against. I’m valuing all the wins. Everything is a challenge. Don’t apologize for wins. I got 24-hour rule. Like today, I’m not saying, “Yeah, but it was Yeah, like my my my sober assessment come like Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday. Today, I just want to celebrate. I want to be happy.” It changes my day. It really does. They lose at noon. It It makes me not enjoy the 3:00 games, the prime time games. Uh yesterday I wanted to cook and you know play with the kids. I wanted my children around all this stuff. It just changes. I enjoy life and football so much more. And I’m just like hey get the win and worry about the other stuff in the days to come and the preparation for Carolina. I’m treating I’m acting like a damn coach and player as a sports fan. It’s sad. You need to record uh you need to record Ali victories screaming it’s only 3:15 then. celebration. Yeah. See, that’s the thing like the I think a lot of coaches fall into the you don’t style point road wins. That was a home game they played though. What? Yesterday. Yeah. Yeah. There’s nothing but Cowboys fans there. You say that’s pathetic. You know what’s pathetic was sitting there after the game and getting ready to send my email and me literally going to chat GPT and saying, “Is there a synonym for improvement that begins with J so that I could say J word or just the Jets?” And I couldn’t find anything. So then I just had to rhyme Jets. Is that good? Is the king of uh topic titles, right? What would it have been then if it was a J? So what are you trying Give me uh like what are you trying to create here? Like are we is this improvement from the Cowboys or is it just the Jets? Oh, that’s the there’s not really a good word for it. Jubilation from Cory Major. Jubilation, but that’s Jet setting into the week. No, he’s trying to ask. It’s got to be an eitheror, but catchy with Jets in it. This wasn’t headlines. Like, is this legit or not? Which, like I said, I ended up just going with I was like, I’m just going to run Jets or not. Or not. Bam. There we go. That’s money. That is good. Legit or not. So, let’s see if this is legit or not. These things. Uh, trademark RJ Choppy. Uh, four things yesterday I think were really really impressive and four things that were were good or better than we’ve seen recently that I think there just has to be a thought of like, all right, have you fixed something or do you risk lulling yourself into a confidence and saying, “Ah, that’s better now. We don’t have to worry about it.” So, we got some of these things. You were worried that the Green Bay tie was going to lull them into a confidence. I just was Yeah, I was worried the Green Bay tie was just going to be so conflicting. They didn’t like they didn’t know how to address things that fell short like and it seemed like they genuinely it was exactly like a tie. They didn’t know to celebrate or to be sad like in the immediate aftermath. So number one and the biggest headline from yesterday is the improved pass rush. They were getting after Justin Fields and Justin Fields walks himself into several sacks on his own. That’s and you said the Jets offensive line was decent. Yeah, their Jets the Jets offensive line had been good, like really good in pass protection actually. Um, they’d stunted TJ Watt and the Steelers pass rush for an extended period of time in that game. Um, and throughout the the course of the season, everything I had seen was all right, that’s a a pretty good Jets offensive line. So, the Cowboys did, even though Justin Fields walks himself into some of those, they got pressure. Um, and they were able to to win their reps on their own. It wasn’t just a five sacks. Yeah. It wasn’t just stuff that was on the quarterback. These were earned. Dante Fowler looked like Micah. Yeah, I was like 13. He’s got like overshown speed. I was getting my numbers mixed up. The Dante Fowler looked like he had shot out of a cannon. Our guy Justin Houston, that’s all I care about asking Shanheimer about on Friday at 8:20. Why isn’t Justin Houston getting more snaps? So, the improved pass rush, is that legit or not? Ah, I will say not. I have zero explanation for yesterday, but I have to take the first four games of the season and what I saw with them not even getting anywhere close. Now, yesterday they had a lead, so they could also tee off. I got to factor that in. We saw that in plenty of Cowboys games over the years where they handled scrubs, especially at home, destroyed them, blew them out, and everyone every you get a you get a you get a Oprah. So, I’m going to lean unfortunately towards not because I’ve seen them play the other games and they didn’t have a 20point lead. Yeah, I’ll say not. I think it has a lot to do with the other what what was happening on the other side of the ball. Yeah, I look I mean I think there’s some aspect of this that they they won their reps and that’s a good Jets offensive line. I just think it’s very possible and we’ll know a little bit more when I look at the tape today, but I think it’s possible they also just came out there with a different mode of attack than what the Jets were expecting. Like I do think they threw more twists and stunts at them than they had maybe anticipated and and that caused a lot of issues for them. Number two, legit or not, Ryan Fenoy’s breakout performance. How do you feel about it? Oh, cuz it’s not like we have a a long history of just Ryan Fenoy not. This isn’t like Jaylen Tolbert popping up out of three years and all of a sudden playing a game. This was kind of the first opportunity Ryan Fenoy got. I I’ll be honest, man. I mean, I I think that’s more legit. Um, now here’s the problem. When CD comes back, he’s going to be, you know, down down the pecking order a little bit. Sure. Um, I also think it was obvious they must have seen something on film or whatever that they were going to that sauce was going to travel and that he was going to have a favorable matchup. So, I’ll I’ll I’ll air on the side of the Jet. Like, look, he’s Tolbert has not had a great year. Turpin has had his moments, but he’s more of a of a of a of a pocketk knife kind of thing. So, give me this is legit. 10 catches all of last season. He’s got 10. He had 10 catches on 14 targets last year in 11 games. In five games, he has 10 catches on 14 targets. 15 yards a catch, 150 in terms of the production. You answer this. Um I I I don’t I obviously don’t think he’s a week in week out 20 yard receiver guy. Sure. I think he’s a good player. All right, let’s do this then. Turpin’s healthy. Mhm. Next week, who’s your three? Turpin. I mean, Feno, if he if he continues to show it, could work into that role, but to me, I would I would definitely play Fenoi more over Tolbert right now. Here’s my here’s my take. What’s your answer? Uh, let’s see. Let’s see it. Let’s see if it’s real. I would put Fenoy out there. Let’s see if it’s real. That doesn’t mean that you don’t use Ter because you got to use it cuz he is a good like weapon. I those were not to me it was just those were those were real genuine plays he made. It wasn’t just he’s wide open. Like he he catches a ball in a tight window and then he keeps his balance and runs down the field. He adjusts to a ball down the field in the first half. Like he was doing things that were him making plays. I got to say something. You guys are going to hate me so much for this. The radio station may like me. It could save them money. The Cowboys won’t like it. There’s no point to going to Oxnard at all. None. Don’t say that. I was thinking about this driving in. I’m like, what’s your point? Who was the receiver we loved in Oxnard? I already forgot to say when. This year. This year. Yeah. Oh, it was Holden. Tan Holden. Tan. You know what? I’m glad you said when. When is the perfect point to illustrate what I’m talking about. Hawkins Hawkins one year or uh nothing from We didn’t talk about We didn’t talk about Ryan Flenoy whatsoever. We didn’t talk about Javvante Williams whatsoever. Justin Houston was the preseason games. None of us were tweeting about Justin Houston. There’s no reason to even go. There’s no reason to go. We’re not these backup offensive linemen may I guess Woolch was the only one he said saying that all these guys stepping up we’re going to do what they did these backup offensive linemen no one sitting there talking about there ain’t a correction young man there ain’t no point correction there’s no point there ain’t no point in going to practice okay there’s plenty of point in going there the interviews the interviews all right I’ll give there’s no point in going to practice I’ll give but think about some of these think of the days we we’ go back for walkthroughs with with JG Yeah JG’s Uh, this this rookie linebacker, I don’t remember hearing his damn name. The guy who took Sambourne’s spot yesterday. We didn’t say anything about Shamar. Nothing. There you go, bosses. You’re welcome. It’s uh, no, look, I mean, I I think that Fenoi is a guy who he’s he’s working his way in. Like, he he was banged up last year in training camp. He didn’t get the opportunity. When he got the opportunity late in training camp, he performed better. They knew something though. They had a plan. Like I was looking for for Jaylen Tolbert underdog numbers like all right can Jaylen get a 30 y something down the field like happened against Green Bay and they’re like no we’re going to unleash Ryan Fenoi not Jaylen Tolbert as we were sitting here ready for Jaylen Tolbert to be locked into the three off of the Packer game. Yeah I mean they they like him um because they they obviously went that direction. They didn’t they’ve had Jaylen Brooks here for a couple years. They’ve seen Jaylen Brooks make plays in games. They had him in there above Jaylen Brooks too. Um, so Fenoy is clearly a guy that that they have plans for or that they like. Uh, and I think he’s somebody who’s been a a a somebody who has shown enough when he’s been healthy that you can feel better about it. Jerry Jones. Excuse me. Uh-oh. Uh-oh. I got so excited thinking about Look at that rookie not waking up early in California. Uh, Jerry was asked, “What did Ryan Fenoi show you yesterday?” He showed the ability. Those were very talented uh catches he was were making. In other words, he had a lot to do with how he was coming back for the ball. His timing, that type of thing. And I know Dak would be the first one to tell you that. So, uh he really should go up in all of our fans eyes. We open my eyes. Yeah, I think he’s somebody who they are they are going to give more opportunity to and and somebody that they clearly have a plan for and that they like a lot. [Music]

The Cowboys had perhaps their most impressive game of the season so far against the Jets, but it did come against a team that’s still searching for its first win. Because of that, let’s talk about some of the biggest narratives from this game and if they’re legit, or should we say, le-Jet?
