Jake Browning’s Mistakes Don’t Give Bengals a CHANCE! | 3-STRAIGHT BLOWOUT Losses

It just hasn’t gotten better for Jake Browning and the Cincinnati Bengals offense. It’s another disaster performance against the Lions. Let’s break it down. You are Locked on Bengals, your daily Cincinnati Bengals podcast, part of the Locked On. Your team every day. What up Bengals fans and welcome to another episode of the Lockdown Bengals podcast part of the Lockdown Podcast Network. Your team every day for better or for worse. James Rene and myself Jake Liscoco are here for you on Lockdown Bengals covering your favorite team. We’re every day and we welcome back all the everydayers out there. All of you who make us your first listen. Appreciate all of you who are sticking with us here on Lockdown Bengals as we’re sticking with covering a team that has given us very little positive to talk about in the last few weeks. Actually, there is some some positivity that I will get to probably at some point in this episode, James, which hopefully isn’t too shocking, but it was another really, really, really bad game where the Bengals got blown out. They were unable to do anything on offense until they were trailing by three scores in the second half. And this is who this team is at this point and severe change obviously is needed. Today’s episode is brought to you by Mazda. Stay tuned later in this episode for highlights from this week’s Moving the Game Forward. Mazda, move and be moved. And James, another game where Jake Browning did not give the Cincinnati Bengals a chance to win the football game. No, he didn’t. And this this is why. And we didn’t get to do the whole veteran quarterback episode. We hit it on it on our Thursday show going into Friday, going into the weekend. So, if you didn’t watch it or see it, this is why I want a quarterback. I want another option because the Bengals don’t have another option. They are screwed. If Jake Browning it doesn’t play well, well, they’re they’re not going to Brett Ripen. They’re not going to Shan Clifford, Mike White, well, he wasn’t elevated from the practice squad. Like, if if that happens, like maybe that like that would be the next guy. That doesn’t make anybody feel good. And and so what’s interesting in our locked on Bengals insiders at at joinsubtex.comlockonbgles, they found this out on Sunday morning, what the Bengals were hoping to do, how the Bengals thought that they would be able to snap out of this offensive funk and and they believed in their game plan and and I had talked to to multiple people within the building about what how they thought that the past two games are going to be the outlier on offense. So they responded by scoring a whopping three points in the first three quarters and having just as many turnovers three as points having just as many Jamar Chase tackles three as points through the first three quarters. And when you do that when literally they they were I I’m telling they were so they believed not that they were I think they thought they were going to win the game. Who doesn’t convince themselves going into a game you’re going to win it when you’re a competitor? But I think they thought regardless of the outcome, they were going to be able to put up points. And yeah, you look at that final score and that final score is kind of believable. Like I on a good offensive day for them, I thought maybe 3724 was in the cards. It wasn’t that way. This offense stinks and a few garbage time touchdowns, which are part of the positivity, I’m sure, but that’s not going to change the way I feel. And I feel like Zack Taylor and Jake Browning combined failed today. That’s what it comes back to. They they kind of I don’t know if you watch the press conferences, but Zack Taylor’s like, “Oh, this it’s on me. It’s on me.” And then Jake comes in and he’s like, “I got to play better. It’s on me.” And I’m like, “Yeah, it’s on y’all. You both let everybody down.” And they better fix it quick because this offense is one of the worst in the NFL and they have some awesome weapons as we know. So they should not be one of the worst in the NFL. At least they finally hit a couple plays to Jamar Chase later in this game. But I say that as like a throwin, a token, you know, compliment that I’m saying to be nice. Like the way Browning played at the start of this game doesn’t give the Bengals a chance to win games. He’s late. He’s inaccurate. He’s frazzled in the pocket. And he knew that. He took accountability for it after the game. And when Zach’s saying it’s also on him, he’s the head coach. He’s a head coach play caller. Well, yeah. I mean, you’re preaching to the choir of Bengals fans who want you to give up play calling responsibilities, I think, in many ways, Zack. But the other thing is is that you have to find ways to help your quarterback succeed. And through three weeks, we have not seen that. We haven’t seen them get to plays that Jake Browning feels comfortable, confident, and is thriving in. He’s instead making repeatedly bad decisions, looking like a deer in the headlights much too often. The Bengals almost had two safeties in this game. and said only one counted and had a number of hits on Jake Browning that could have been additional insult to injury that didn’t count. But the way he played in this game, I mean, the interception he threw to Mike Caseeki, and I’ve I’ve said this a few times now, I think, but the interception he threw to Mikei would have been incomplete if there was no one on the field in the Detroit secondary. It was that far behind Mike Caseeki. Like when you throw an interception that even if there no defenders, it’s not getting to your intended receiver. What are you doing? Like how are you making an NFL throw at that point that’s that inaccurate and into that much traffic where there are two Detroit defenders that could have picked it off. And that was one of two interceptions. The two Detroit defenders had the best chance at in this game. The other one was just a really bad late inside throw to Jamar Chase on an outbreaker. And like when you’re playing like that, late late that was so late. That was so late. That’s the way to describe it. Yeah. And and and when you’re playing like that early in the game, the defense gave you a chance early in the game. That’s what gets me in this one. That’s part of the positivity for me in this one. When the game was in the balance early, Trey Hendrickson gets a one-on-one with Giovani Manu out of the University of British Columbia, right across the Georgia Straight from me. And Giovani shouldn’t be on an NFL roster. He’s a practice squad player. He was overdrafted by the Lions. And when they got one-on- ones, Joseph Osai beat him like a drum and Trey Hendrickson beat him like a drum. They just didn’t get enough of those one-on- ones. I’m critical of the defensive game plan on the first drive in this game, but they got the strip back. They forced multiple first half punts and the offense rewarded them by putting them on the field in the red zone immediately with the Jake Browning interception. Jake Browning. So like the complimentary football, not even close. And it’s all on the offense to me. Yeah, the the defense had issues on the first drive for sure. I I I’m sure at some point I’ll rip out Golden’s game plan for the first drive of the game. But they got those stops early and were just rewarded with a pile of steaming dog poop. Like here here’s what you get from the offense. Here’s the present that we’re giving you after you got a takeaway after we laid an egg on our first drive. You gave us a ball back here. We’ll give the the we’ll give you the the opportunity to get a red zone stop as a reward going into the fourth quarter. The Bengals had been outscored 104-6 in their last 11 quarters. So that’s the Minnesota game, the Denver game, and then the first three quarters tonight when it was 28-3. Three points. They hadn’t scored a touchdown on 19 consecutive drives. That doesn’t include a kneel down at the end of a first half. It’s just it is the offense. It’s 100% on the offense. The offense that again, they go on the road. They they were really struggling, but they thought that they were going to turn a corner tonight and against the Lions and I fourth quarter al aside, the game’s over. It’s 28-3. It’s 28-3 and it’s as ugly. I mean, those interceptions, the Kirby Joseph one, he’s a center fielder. I I mean, where it is just a a lollipop throw. I’m not sure there is an everyday that lists that could not have caught that ball because it was just, you know, shout out to the everydayers. You guys could have intercepted Jake Browning today because it was a lollipop. It was it it was it was e way easier than a punt because you didn’t have the whole the whole team running at you and and and so when you’re giving the ball away like that and taking safeties and that’s that first safety on Jake Browning. I know it didn’t count because of the holding. That’s awful awareness. Like just awful. You’re holding the ball and holding the ball like you got to know I’m in the end zone. I got to make a decision. And by the way, maybe that is throwing it away and throwing it over a receivers’s head in into the stands. Fine. But you can’t just sit there and then get sacked. That can’t happen. And and so yeah, this this offense like it’s official. This offense is costing the Bengals games. And that’s Jake Browning and Zack Taylor. And that’s who I’m looking at. And I I don’t I don’t know the solution. I don’t know if it’s just going to stay the the way it’s the way it is. But it needs something. Something has to change. Whether it’s their process, their mindset, their mentality, their approach going and getting a veteran quarterback so you have another option that you actually believe can can guide your offense. I don’t know. But something has to change. Yeah, it’s been remarkably bad. I think Jake Browning is at the center of it. The way he played quarterback before this game was in blowout territory was miserable. You can credit him for the way he played in the fourth quarter to some degree. The the first touchdown pass to Jamar Chase was a sensational play. It’s just it doesn’t matter at that point. Like you can give him his flowers for it for sure. It just just doesn’t matter when you can only score when you’re down at least three scores or four scores or whatever it is. They did not move the ball outside of the end of the first half unless they were down at least 18 points. Anyway, let’s get to the defense that actually started this game pretty well. We’ll we’ll discuss that topic. There there are some signs of life here. It’s just is it enough? I don’t think so. We’ll get there coming up next. Your favorite neighborhood spots. Well, they run on Square. And this episode of Lockdown Bengals is brought to you by Square. There are certain businesses that truly make the neighborhood feel like home. Whether it’s a local sports bar packed on game days, the coffee shop that knows your order by heart, and you’re probably going to be leaning on the coffee on Monday morning, especially following that game on Sunday at Payor Stadium. These places bring people together. And when neighborhood businesses thrive, the whole neighborhood thrives. And that’s why if you’re going to get a slice at Good Fellas, maybe a pine at Mad Tree, Little Shake Shack, Park Pour, Root Beer Stand, any of the local spots at Cincinnati, Square is a proud partner of more than 4 million neighborhood businesses around the world. That’s 4 million. You can go to square.com/go/lockdown NFL to learn more. But before you do, go support your favorite neighborhood spot. You’ll be happy you did. Square, see you in the neighborhood. We’re also brought to you today today by Mazda. Mazda’s moving the game forward. For those who believe it’s not just about playing the game, it’s about redefining it. I like to hold up my Mazda car keys to the camera when we have an episode sponsored by Mazda because Mazda knows that there are moments that do more than just put points on the board. They move crowds, they move culture, and they keep moving the game forward. And we simply have not seen those moments from Jake Browning, from Zack Taylor, from the Cincinnati Bengals in anywhere close to enough of a frequency this year to give us belief that the Bengals are going to do the things they need to do to stay afloat until Joe Burrow gets back. But we did see hints from this defense, from Trey Hendrickson, from Miles Murphy, from these corners, DJ Turner really turning his game around in this first half. TJ Sllayton was great. And so if the defense can just keep pushing a little harder, maybe that’s enough for this Bengals offense to find their way. Whatever moves you, you can find it with Mazda. When you follow what moves you, the unexpected is only the beginning. And just like there’s more to every highlight, there’s more to a Mazda vehicle. Mazda, move and be moved. All right, Jake, let’s get to this defense. Let’s get to to Trey Hendrickson and get to a group that just and I’m not saying they’re they aren’t flawed because they are. Oh yeah. But coming into the year, what was every everybody was saying? Well, when you were here for training camp in August, it was the defense could just be average. If they could just be average, I think that’s what they are. Like I think they they they’re at that point where it’s like, are they perfect? No. Are they going to buck up and get some spot stops for you at times? I think so. I look at this and whether it’s the the sack numbers, the turnover, the the quarterback hits, the fact that they held David Montgomery to 3.6 per carry, Jamir Gibbs to 4.5 on 12 carries along of nine. Like, there’s a lot to like. It wasn’t perfect. I don’t like Joseph Osai and Sam Laaporta. I don’t like some of the the matchup situation. So, there’s still frustration. So, I’m not saying there’s not, but like I would take this sort of performance from the defense, but they were put in such crappy positions throughout the game that it’s really tough to say, “Hey, go go go hold the Lions to under 30.” And and I I hel I think they held up their end of the bargain for the most part. It’s 37 points on the scoreboard, right? And 14 of those came on short fields after Jake Browning turnovers. Yeah. And two of those came on a safety. That’s 21 points on full drives that the Bengals allowed to this Detroit Lions offense. And given I think Dan Campbell was playing remarkably conservative football because he had confidence in his defense against this Bengals offense and rightly so. Him punting on what was it like a fourth and six from the Bengals 40some. Not a characteristic Dan Campbell decision. Dan Campbell goes for it on fourth downs. He went for it on zero fourth downs in this game I think knowing his opposition. But given that the Lions were two of eight on third downs in this game, you take that if if you would have told me the the Bengals would hold the Lions at two of eight on third downs, I would first ask like that’s not very many third downs. But second, that’s pretty good. Well, you say how many fourth downs? How many fourth downs did they convert? And then you would ask, yeah, like how many fourth downs did they convert? They were only at six yards per play in this game. Again, part of this is probably a function of knowing their opposition, knowing that this was a blowout early in this game, but early in this game, in the first half of this game, we’ll talk about the the first drive issues in another episode probably, unless we decide to rag on Al Golden’s plan for the first drive and the dropping defensive ends into coverage thing in this episode. We’ll see. We’ll see what happens. But the Bengals go six plays, 32 yards, punt. Trey Hendrickson forces the strip sack. The Bengals get the takeaway. How did the Bengals reward it on offense? Three yards, six play or sorry, three plays, six yards punt. Bengals defense steps up again. They force another punt after the Bengals go three and out. The Bengals have punted twice. They haven’t done anything on offense. In the second quarter, the Bengals get another punt. Jake Browning then throws the red the the own red zone interception. The Bengals defense can’t hold up again. They give up the touchdown on the drive that Detroit starts from the 17 yd line. Bengals go punt again and the defense once again forces a punt. Jake Browning two plays later, interception. What did the Bengals defense do? Force another punt and finally the Bengals score some offense. So if you’re keeping track that is three punts and a force fumble takeaway from this Bengals defense in the first half to get you to halftime at 14-3. A chance to get to 14 to7 if this offense had any sort of teeth to it. A chance to get the game tied. But of course, coming out of the half, it takes two plays for Jake Browning to throw another interception and for the game to be blown up and it’s 21 to3. Yeah. And that’s the real back breaker, if you will, with the way Jake was playing. It’s like even with the two picks, it’s 14-3. You get the ball coming out of the half. If that’s when the offense woke up, maybe you can make it a game. Maybe the defense still has enough. But time of possession was so dominated at one point and this is early in the game like early second quarter. It’s like 14 to four at one point or something. Yeah. Yeah. Like it was like 12 to three and I’m like well this can’t this this is not going to work. Yeah. The play count was like 25 to 10 at one point early in this game. There was a point I tweeted this out and I put it on multiple socials but Jake Browning had two interceptions and averaged 1.8 yards per attempt. more turnovers than his yards per attempt. Like at one point his quarterback rating was 26. Now it went up a lot in that fourth quarter, but man, like it’s just it’s hard when you’re that crappy. A ask the ask Browns fans. When you’re that crappy on offense, it hurts your defense. And I I I don’t mean this week’s Brown. I just mean in general because they haven’t had a quarterback in 50 years. They’ve seen plenty of Jake Browning. Like Like that’s what it does. And it sucks. And it’s ugly. And the final score might not be as ugly on on weeks like this, but it still sucks. No one had fun today. The people listening to this, Jake, did you have fun today watching this? It wasn’t fun. I don’t even think the Lions fans, there were a lot of Lions fans here. Blue streaks. I bet they had fun. Let’s be they had fun. I No, I think they had fun because they won, but it was like a really boring like everybody’s going through the motions game because I agree with you on the Lion side. Like I do think that they were just kind of like this is how we’re going to play this game and we’re just going to get through it and win. Yeah. I mean it wasn’t it reminded me a little bit of the Chiefs Eagle Super Bowl last year. That’s I had fun watching that as someone who was enjoying the shot in Freud of the Chiefs getting blown out in the Super Bowl. But like yeah, it wasn’t for for all of my no rooting interest friends that were watching that game with me. They’re like this this Super Bowl is very boring. and they weren’t watching the game in the in the third quarter. So, yeah, in that sense, not fun. Yeah. Yeah. I just It’s one of those, right? I I just I think the defense has plenty to fix, but did they have they held up their end enough? Like, yeah, Trey Hendrickson had two sacks and a strip sack and a like that’s that’s it. Like, that’s what you’re talking about. Miles Murphy gets a big play and gets to celebrate. No side did and and TJ Sllayton two quarterback hits from the nose tackle and he was really good in the run game in the first half. Yeah. Was really impressed with TJ Sllayton’s first half in this game. If you would have told me the Lions run for 118 yards and and their longest run is under 20 yards. Jamir Gibbs longest run is nine. You like you sign up for all of those right away at the beginning of the game. I would. Yeah, I think the defense did enough, right? You just look at the results early in the game until until the Lions get their second short field touchdown and then the wheels start to come off, right? That then it’s seven plays, 80 yards, a really ugly drive. But at that point, it’s 21 to three. And you’re probably a little bit demoralized because every time you got the stops, oh, I have to go defend a 30- yard field. I have to go defend a 17 yard field. Oh, the offense went three and out again. And then the Bengals finally started doing something on offense and got from 28-3 to 28 to 17 and then the wheels were still off for for the defense. Like you get one more stop, maybe the game actually gets interesting. But the defense in that defense, right? If the defense was one of the better defenses in the NFL, which was never our hope or expectation, then maybe this game goes differently. But the defense did enough in this game where it’s you’re saying, man, if they have Joe Burrow in this game that they’re probably feeling real different about the way this thing goes. So, uh, that’s not a good feeling. There are some some other positives we can shout out here. There there’s the Al Golden first drive topic if we have time for it. We’ll see. Maybe we’ll try to finish here on a bit of a positive note. Talk about whether there’s enough signs of life to have any belief going into Lambo Field in week six. We’ll go there to finish the show coming up next. Today’s show is brought to you by FanDuel, America’s number one sports book. And man, the NFL season, it’s in full swing. And right now, new customers can bet just $5 and get $300 in bonus bets if you win. That’s right. Pick a bet, put down five bucks. If it hits, you’ll unlock $300 in bonus bets to use across the app. So maybe you had the Lions at minus 10 and a half, which hey, maybe you got them early on last week at at minus eight and a half before the the Monday night debacle in Denver. Well, you would have won. And then when that bet hit, you’d unlock $300 in bonus bets to use across the app. And whether it’s same game parlays, whether it’s live bets, whether it’s standard lines, but the Bengals are double digit, major double digit 14 and a half point underdogs against the Packers at Lambo. At least as of right now, you got to get on all the fun with FanDuel. What are you waiting for? Visit FanDuel.com to download the FanDuel app today and get started. So, we’ve shouted out Trey Hendrickson who had a nice little game as a pass rusher in particular. We’ve talked about TJ Sllayton, who I thought had a nice game as a run defender, especially early on. Uh Miles Murphy got in on the fun with the S sack, I believe, on a stunt that was a third down play, right? Or was it a second down play? Either way, it was part of ending a Detroit drive. DJ Turner targeted only once in this game. Had the pass breakup defending Aman Ross St. Brown. Shout out DJ Turner for settling in as the season’s gone on. Just kind of a career trend for him at this point. And I don’t know, that’s kind of it on defense. Logan Wilson, I think, had his worst game of the season. Chris Jenkins wasn’t very impressive to me in this game. Orin Burks got the start and they had a rotation at linebacker that featured Logan Wilson being on the play for every single play of the game and a rotation with the linebackers besides Logan Wilson on the field. Demetrius site playing only 36 snaps for the Bengals in this game, which seems uh very low compared to what he’s been at for most of the year. But the Bengals are trying some different things on defense. start trying some fiveman defensive fronts with two linebackers, two offball linebackers or meeting Detroit’s 12 personnel with some heavier defensive fronts or trying different things. I will say I I know I said this is going to be a positive note. Maybe we’ll finish on some of the positives on offense, but like the drop in defensive ends into coverage stuff that we keep seeing from this team week after week just is driving me insane at this point. I feel like I’ve been hammering it in the film review episodes in particular for weeks. The replacement pressures aren’t working. I’m sick of seeing Joseph Osai getting picked on in coverage. Joseph Osai was targeted, I believe multiple times. Joseph Osai was targeted twice in coverage today and like 18 of Joff’s targets in this game. I think he threw 23 passes, 20 something something like that. Low 20s. 18 of them, I believe, targeted a linebacker or a defensive end for the Bengals. Only a handful of targets targeting any defensive backs in this game. Yeah. Which is which is wild when you look and you see that Amanra St. Brown had eight catches on nine targets. And Leaporta five catches on six targets. Like Jared G was 19 of 23. Didn’t have to throw it a lot, but boy was he efficient. Boy was he effective. And that’s what happens when you tra when you drop Joseph Oside into coverage. You sure? You think Joseph Oai can guard me? He can’t guard Sam Rapora. I’m not sure. Maybe he will. Maybe he could. Maybe not. I don’t want to find out. An impossible job that they’re asking him to do. No doubt. Like putting in that situation. What are we doing? Yeah. Like I don’t like Sam Leaporta against Logan Wilson either. Like I don’t feel great about that. But like that’s linebackers are gonna have to guard tight ends at times. Like that’s what’s I agree with you. I think that’s a really it’s a tough ask. And early in the game OSI was targeted twice, Cam Sample once, and it really stood out in in in some like what felt like big moments when the game wasn’t decided yet. And and that’s that’s got to change. I just don’t understand what that does. Like the the idea is is that you can maybe get a free runner sometimes because you’ve confused protection or maybe you’ve dropped an end into a slant window or a hook window that the quarterback isn’t anticipating. You get a a cheeky interception here or there. We’ve seen Lanna Rumo do it successfully. We saw I should say Lano do it successfully previously when he was with the Bengals. And there is a time and place for these, but this seems to be like the bread and butter of the Al Golden defense. And you know, today we did see a run slant and a run blitz get a tackle for loss. We saw a stunt get Miles Murphy sack. We saw some things work, but the replacement pressures are still driving me a little bit crazy seeing these defensive ends drop into coverage. You could argue Sam Leaport is as good of a receiving tight end as anyone in the league. Like do he had a good game. They could not tackle him. Do you want Joseph Osai guarding him? No sir. Do you And you’re right. along the sideline. That’s when I thought they were starting to break on defense because along the sideline, Laaporta cuts up field and doesn’t he gets knocked out of bounds but isn’t tackled. No, four guysile four guys should have tackled him and and I was like, “Oh man, this this could be this could be the breaking point.” Uh look, our tone didn’t change and and it shouldn’t change, but the offense did score three straight touchdowns in the fourth quarter. And so if if we’re are going to finish on a positive, that is a positive. And the the throw of the game for Jake Browning was him rolling out to the right, finding Jamar Chase. Jamar gets both beat down. Heck of a catch. Great throw. Great catch. Yeah. And and maybe and look after that. It’s a double move, but then they drive downfield. Then it’s a real drive. I I I think that the double move was ridiculous. I can’t believe the Lions gave that up. But you get four first downs on that that final touchdown drive. Andre Yosvage got going a little bit. Mhm. Maybe you can build off that. Maybe you can. I mean, you need to. Obviously, their last drive of the game was a safety, but to to score to score three straight touchdowns. Yeah. Like maybe, but that’s that’s s like how do you not you go 19 straight possessions without scoring a touchdown and then you score three touchdowns and then obviously you have the the safety lead which is a tough spot because you got to push the ball down the field. Detroit lost a lot of corners to injuries in this game. Rocky Sin was in and out throughout the game. Brian Branch was playing through something I think. But at least they found something. At least they got Jamar Chase going. That is a step in the right direction. Jake Browning completing passes to Jamar Chase. Does he need to pick better times and places to try to force the ball to Jamar? Yes. Is it still nice to see Jamar get going a little bit in this game? The scramble touchdown, the double move. That’s nice to see. It’s nice to see Andre Yosvos finally put some numbers up. Still waiting for T. Higgins to have his opportunity to put numbers up. Thought Sam Perin played another nice game and actually played a lot in this game. like nearly an even snap split between Sam and Chase Brown. And I think that’s something perhaps to monitor with the way this running game is going. And and I mean it’s been tough for Chase Brown this year. They’re very excited for his ability as a player, but they’ve obviously still struggled in the run game. The offensive line not much better in the run game today. Um we’ll see how they look on tape. Obviously Dylan Fairchild on that safety, not a good look. Orlando Brown had his hands full when he was trying to deal with Aiden Hutchinson in this game. The sack on the flea flicker was not not good. Marius Sm did give up only the sack on the play that was called back I think. So I think maybe when we go back and look at Amarius Mims on tape that might be nice to watch. Might might see a bounceback game from Amarius there. But not much else good to talk about on offense despite the scoring late. I thought the offensive line did start the game well. I thought they finished the game really poorly. I think early Jake was around 30% of his drop backs that were were pressured. He finished over 50%. So when they’re pinning their ears back in the second half, the pass protection did not hold up. But again, some of that we’ll see when we rewatch the tape. Sure. And that’s when it’s 28 to three. That’s that’s how your ears back. Yep. No doubt. And uh one last bright spot, Evan McFersonson. Good from 50 money match. Yeah. And tried to tried to get that onside kick, man. Respect the effort. Respect the hustle from from Evan McFerson there, man. Diving in that pile as a kicker. Yeah. No doubt. And I thought he had it. That’s a That’s a tough one to to grab, of course. Uh William Wagner, high snap. Ryan Rico, shout out to you getting it down. Yeah. Hey. Yeah. Well, we’re looking at So, the hope here the hope here, right, is that the defense is showing some signs of life against a really good Detroit offense. They got the early stops. They got the punts. They got the the they they got the force fumble. They found the matchup with Giovani Manu. They they went after it a few times and that they’ve maybe found something. But maybe the doors open at quarterback at this point. Maybe a change is coming. Do do you think that’s happening? Do we not think that’s happening? That’ll be something that we get to this week as the Bengals prepare for another brutal NFC North matchup with the Green Bay Packers who yes, they they’re two one and one, but still look like a contender to me at least comparing them especially to to what the Bengals are doing right now. And that’s what we’ve got to look forward to. James, anything else from this one before we get out of here? I like points. Yeah, start scoring points before garbage time, preferably. That’s going to do it for this episode of the Lockdown Bengals podcast. Until next time, thanks for listening and have a gimble.

  1. Don’t know who decided that browning was good to go, duke or zac, but either or should be taken out back and beaten. He is just not accurate. Those interceptions were just atrocious, and without them, they had a chance to win this one.

  2. Lions fan here and your backup QB was horrible if you guys had a competent qb the game would’ve been a lot closer sorry for you guys I been there for most of my life !!

  3. I honestly think Browning has the ability to turn it around !!! The rest of the team played well !!! I most worried about Taylor coaching & I'm sure that they can play complentary football even with Joe last yr complentary football was hard to come by & lost a lot of games. Browning looked like he was pressing !!!

  4. Play designs for pass catchers seems off !!! Seems like there should be easier quick hit routes available I can't tell if they aren't calling them or if Wr's aren't winning them. I blame it on Taylor

  5. We may not win one game till Joe makes it bk . That’s” IF” it’s even worth coming bk . Might be eliminated by end of this month

  6. Just for perspective the Lions have scored the most points in the NFL since 2023, they have the most yards since 2023, the 3rd best point differential since 2023.

  7. The OL. Sucks. Play calling sucks. Browning sucks at times, other times looks decent. Defense is getting better. The window for correction is still open, but closing fast!!! Another year of excuses!!! We need new owners. I’m almost done this year with Cincinnati Sports teams!!! Prepare myself for more disappointment next year!!!

  8. Browning has been awful..need someone to start vs nyj coming out mini bye. HOWEVER there's poor play all around. Obj is shot. .. Every play someone different jujitsu techniques break down…the run game stinks..our weapons dont seem to be getting open 1 on 1..the D doesn't tackle or generate consistent pressure..the dbs rarely get pbus or make qb life difficult..the kick/punt returner is really really bad..rehkow often kicks too many key punts into touchback land…what do we really do well right now? The light is after a sure loss at GB…there are lots of winnable games to perhaps right the ship?

  9. Joe is not coming back this year. You knew the season was over anyway when he got hurt let’s be realistic. Might as well go draft picks and a new head coach Time for a reset at the end of the season let’s be realistic people 😂😂😂😂😂😂
