Mattias Samuelsson On Rehabbing From Injury | Buffalo Sabres
Thursday possibility for you. Yeah. Just, you know, have to leave for a few days after, you know, seemed like you had a very good start to camp. What was that like? Um, yeah, I mean it sucks. Um, talked about a ton obviously, but just um being on like the sidelines, not being with the group. Uh, it’s never fun for sure. Keep a good a good posit. Um, I try to like enjoy the little things. That’s the thing I learned the most. Um, in the past when I’ve been injured, you kind of, um, maybe can become a shell of yourself because you’re not with the group. But, uh, you know, the times you are in the locker room with the guys or anything, have, um, you know, the most fun with it as you, uh, as you can being injured. And, um, you know, I think this one I knew it wasn’t like anything major. So, um, yeah, just get healthy as fast as you can and get back with the group. In terms of continuing to be around the locker room, how important has it been for you to to keep these relationships and keep people kind of motivated even from the sidelines? Um, yeah, I mean, I don’t think I need to motivate any anybody in here. I think everyone’s um you know good on that themselves, but um in terms of just being around the group, connecting with the new guys still um you know things like that uh I think still are are really important even if you aren’t uh practicing but uh just like time spent with each other is uh still a big thing. I know Kessle rings out right now but what are your impressions of his as a whole during the season? Yeah, Kess is uh really impressed uh really impressed me. I think everybody too. Uh obviously big guy, moves really well. Um righty’s nice. Um great guy off the ice, fits in. Um we’re all around the same age, so that’s pretty easy to uh you know, jump right in the group. So, but yeah, he’s been a great addition so far.
Buffalo Sabres defenseman Mattias Samuelsson spoke to the media after practice on October 6, 2025. He talked about his recovery from an injury that has held him out of practice since September 26 and what his mindset has been through it all.
