How Tom Fears put Mexico on the NFL map 🗺️ #nfl #shorts #rams

Imagine being Mexican and becoming the best wide receiver in the NFL. This is the story of Tom Fierce. He was born in Gualahara, the son of Karon Valdez and Charles Fierce. At the age of six, his family moved to Los Angeles where from a young age, he showed his strong work ethic, selling flowers for 25 cents an hour and later for double the pay working as an usher at football games. That’s where he discovered the passion that would define his life. After starting in high school and spending a year at Santa Clara University, he was drafted into the military to serve three years in World War II. but he never stopped dreaming of returning to the field. He came back to play one year in UCLA and in the 1945 NFL draft, the Los Angeles Rams selected him with the 103rd pick. With that pick, Tom Fierce became the first person born in Mexico to be drafted into the NFL. And it just so happened to be by the Rams. And what he did next, no one had ever done before. Tom Fierce led the NFL in receptions in each of his first three seasons, breaking his own record until reaching 84 receptions in 1950. That same year, he caught 18 passes in a single game. In the 1951 championship game, he took a short pass, ran 60 yards, and gave the Los Angeles Rams their first title in the city. In 1970, Tom entered the Pro Football Hall of Fame, becoming the first player born in Mexico to achieve it. Tom Fierce put Mexico on the NFL map forever from Guakara to the Hall of Fame.

Watch how Los Angeles Rams legend Tom Fears went from selling flowers for 25 cents an hour to becoming the first player born in Mexico to be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
