Good Morning everyone! Going to the game on Saturday and I can’t wait. First Red Wings game!
On Friday we will wake up, over analyze the game and make predictions for the season. MBN, ASP and Finnie will have played.
It will be glorious
My wife accepted a new gig with a 50% raise! Fantastic stuff going on this week. The unfortunate part is that she’s a hawks fan 🙁
Holl is not on the roster. Life is good.
Does anyone else find this a bit disturbing?

Scott Sabourin is a AHL lifer and Tampa has a lot to win by taking out Ekblad. I wonder if this going to be the new way to even out the playing field.
Can we all just step back and appreciate how insane it is for Finnie to make the roster? 7th round undersized LW who was middle of the pack in GR showed enough growth and potential in camp to make the roster and be placed on the 1st line with Larkin and Raymond. Kid just keeps defying expectations
I’m still pretty shocked all three guys made the team – it’s a long season and anything can happen, but I was almost certain that only one of Finnie or MBN was making the opening night roster. ASP (more because of roster management than his ability) is the biggest surprise for me.
I know I haven’t been as active lately, but with the festival taking a lot out of me, preseason starting, and actual hockey stuff happening in the news… It just felt like I was at a good place to leave it. That was until I got some DMs asking about how things are going with Dave and my neighborhood university war, so who am I to leave people unfulfilled?
A bunch of us local hockey players/fans had our Fantasy hockey draft the other night. We are an eclectic group, ranging in age, hometowns, and fandom, but we all have something in common: we’re a bunch of transplants that get along well enough and truly love the game. That was, until one of the guys invited Dave to fill a vacancy left by a good buddy of mine who moved out of the area for work. We all take our fantasy draft seriously, trying to keep top players in mind regardless of teams, using strategy to ensure we fill out our rosters to milk the most points possible. You know, we want to win. Dave, however, smugly sat there drafting mostly just Panthers players. We explained to him why that was a bad idea, but he wasn’t having it, instead explaining to us how picking the Panthers was the “best way to win, because they are going to win it all again.” We tried to give him every chance to course-correct, and he just laughed it off. He even drafted Barkov in the first round. I am not worried about beating this fool.
With College football season well underway, naturally things escalated with Gary across the street and Jack from next door. I tried to break bread with those guys, offering them some beers and a place to watch some games together, but that blew up in my face. Us watching a relatively neutral game this last weekend—Miami vs. Florida State—quickly devolved into an argument about who has the harder schedule between our three teams. Naturally, this is where Jack and I agreed about Ohio State having too easy of a schedule, but Gary was adamant that the Wolverines did. Things got heated, and eventually Gary stormed out and went home, presumably to start plotting against us, while Jack and I watched the rest of the game together. I might have made a new friend here, but at the same time, I think I could have inadvertently just created a supervillain.
Anyway, I’m stoked as hell to see some hockey tonight, even if we still need to wait till Thursday for the Wings. I’m feeling pretty good about this season, haven’t been this excited for the season to start in a long time!
I could see this being the forward group in the 27-28 season
Bear Kasper Raymond
MBN Danielson Buchelnikov
Debrincat Larkin FA/Kiiskinnen/Plante/Trade
Finnie Lombardi Mazur
It’s funny how we were so caught up discussing the kids yesterday that Connor McDavid’s insane contract didn’t get a ton of attention here. Ya gotta respect the drive to win a cup, the guy basically had a blank check and he took a beyond reasonable payday to help his team win.
If the Oilers can’t win with the best hockey player in the world on that kind of deal, then I don’t know what they’re doing.
I got downvoted for over a year for saying that ASP would crack the lineup this year.
Where are the haters now ???? 😆
Anyone get the email from the Tigers about discount tickets to Saturday’s game against Toronto? The link opens to a blank screen.

This is hilarious in hindsight
What a great week for Detroit sports!!!!
Lions in 1st.
Tigers play in ALDS at home.
Opening night is Thursday.
Orange Faygo is the best faygo flavor. Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk.
wife told me to buy another centennial at the rink if mine doesn’t come in before opening night.
LFG
Fucking stoked for some hockey tonight
Had to read the Walman announcement three times. Honestly thought they got him on 7 * 1 = 7 total, but oh no. Absolutely not that. He’s actually priced at one entry level contract less than Alex Debrincat.
The. Actual. Whatnow?
It’s almost there!
Cannot believe they’re shoving Pitts vs NYR in front of us tonight. What a terrible schedule to kick off the season.
