Highlights from ALL games on 10/6! (Dodgers win second game in Philly, Jackson Chourio’s BIG homer!)

This is a huge game for both these teams and and even more so for Philadelphia. The reason is in the best of five series teams that have won the first two games on the road. Dodgers have a chance to do that have gone on 31 and3. Harrison Bader while the report on the groin was not as bad as they originally thought. He’s not on the IIL but he’s not available and not in the starting lineup. All eyes and all the burden now on the two starting pitchers tonight. And on the mound tonight for the Phillies, it’s their leading winner this year. Left-hander, Jesus Fuzzardo. Otani is in the batters box. And a cold strike three. And again, Otani goes down. And Shi has struck out for the fifth time in six plate appearances this series. And here’s Muki Betts, 258 hitter this season. Bats hits it sharply and it’s through. A base hit. So Mookie Betts turns a change up into a single to left. Dodgers have a man on with one away in the first. Hernandez takes a ball and the Dodgers with a single and a walk with one out. Two men aboard for Freddy Freeman. Two on, one out. Freeman lines one to right field. Castanos makes the catch and it is out number two. Mookie bets will tag and go to third. No score. Top of the first. Dodgers threatening. Two on, two out. Lousardo kicks the pitch. Edmond swings, grounds it towards second. Sosa gobbles it up, sets his feet, fires to first, and Lazardo out of trouble here in the top of the first. Blake Snell’s second start of this postseason coming off a victory in game one to the wild card round against Cincinnati. Blake Snell is dialed. Snell’s made the pitches when he’s had to for five innings. Blake Snell has looked in complete control. All of a sudden here, seeing that pitch count go up over 90 now and kind of missing down in that zone with every off speed. Two on, one out. The moment of truth has arrived. Swung on and missed. Strike three. Snell gets out number two in the six. And a slider that may have been off the plate outside. Huge pitch. Huge out. But now one big one to go. Swung on and grounded to third. Rojos a race to the bag and he’s out. He dove head first with the glove and beat a sliding Trey Turner for the final out. And Snell gets out of the six inning jam thanks to a gutsy play from Miguel Rojos at third. We got a pitcher duel here at Citizens Bank Park. And it’s another one, two, three inning for Jesus Lazardo. Lazardo has retired the last 17 in a row. He has been phenomenal since that first inning. Line shot center field and a base hit for Hernandez. Hernandez is aboard on a leadoff single. And now Rob Thompson has decisions to make. Lazardo the way he got Freddy Freeman last time on those sweepers. He’s going to give him every opportunity right here. And Freddy Freeman down the right field line down a base hit. Hernandez on his way to third. Freeman is on his way to second base. It’s going to be a double for Freddy Freeman. And now the Dodgers in business. Two on. Second and third. Nobody out in the seventh. And into the bullpen go the Phillies and now it’s a Ryan Kirkery. One away. Kik Hernandez’s turn. Breaks his bat and coming to the plate. Hernandez. The throw to the plate. The tag. The Phillies say, “Let’s challenge it.” So Tayscar Hernandez ruled safe by Adrien Johnson. It was a swinging bunt from Kik Hernandez. Have reviewing the field is confirmed. The runner is safe. The Dodgers are in front. four walked him on four consecutive pitches and the bases are loaded now full of Dodgers. A foul pop for the second out. Dodgers up one- nothing. Looking for more in the seventh. Bases loaded. Two out. First pitch, Will Smith drives a base hit to left field. Freeman is in. Here comes Kik. Will Smith clutches up. A two-run single in the seventh to make it three nothing Dodgers. Two outs in the inning. Matt Stum is in. Show Otani is coming up and two men are on for LA. Otani swings, hits it on the ground. It’s into right field for a base hit. Green light for Muny. He’s in to score. Otani’s first hit in the division series. Adds another for LA. Triple for Max Kapler. And a little bit of life. Well, the big bats, the big five, two for 27 in the series. They’ve got an opportunity here. and he sends one back up the middle and it’s an RBI single for Trey Turner. The Phillies are on the board. So it is going to be Blake Trinidon and Naduk Natsaki swinging a ground ball up the middle that’s through a base hit and it’s a start. All right, got to start somewhere. That was Bow’s first time facing Blake Trinan. The next two hitters have a considerable amount of experience against him. One and two to Real Mutoo and he lines one to left a base hit. Into the corner it goes. Cut off by Hernandez. Boom to third. It’s a double for JT Riomuto. And the Phillies will bring the tying run to the plate. Nick Castianos who last year in game two against the New York Mets delivered a walk-off hit. And here he is now against Try and he’s four for 10 with a double off him in his career. The pitch to Castiano. Swing and a line drive over Muny’s head. It’s down the line. It’ll score two. Castanos trying for second. The throw. He is safe. They call it safe at second base. And Castanos delivers a huge hit and brings life to Citizens Bank Park. They are challenging the challenging call at second base. The swag missed Castanos. He’s safe. Have to review the call to field stands. The runner is safe. Bryson doo up. Phillies are the part of their batting order with three consecutive lefties now. Alex Vessia comes in, gets the bunt down to third, picked up by Muny. He goes to third and Costanos is going to be out. They execute the play to perfection. Rick Monday. Absolute gutsy play. So now on first base is the tying run. It’ll be a pinch hitter for Brandon Marsh. Harrison Bader Vessia deals in the pitch. Swung on line to left field. It’ll fall in front of him. It’s a base hit, but he is the winning run aboard at first base and Weston Wilson takes over for Bader who does his job. Here is Max Kepler now. Kepler on the ground ranging over Freeman. He’s got it. Goes to second. Out there. Excellent play by Freddy Freeman. Second out of the inning. Dave Roberts makes another trip to the mound in the ninth. Vessia faces his three batters with one hit. And here comes Sasaki. Game one on Saturday was his first ever save opportunity in the major leagues. He has never inherited a runner in his career and he is out to get one more out for LA. Turner trying to keep this game going. He had a base hit his last time up. His first hit of the series. It was an RBI single. Kicks and fires. Turner swings. Ground ball to second. Scooped up by Edmond. He throws first. Dug out by Freddy Freeman. He picks it and saves the game. That’s a win for LA. The tying run stranded at third. The winning run stranded at first. Another sellout crowd at American Family Field and the Brewers look to take a strangle hold on this series. It’s the National League Division Series. Game two of this best of five. The Milwaukee Brewers lead the Chicago Cubs one game to none. I think the day off is the most important thing. They just needed to regroup after that really tough win in the wild card against San Diego. We are expecting a bullpen game from the Brewers here tonight. Aaron Ashby will start. And there are two aboard with one out for the Cubs here in the first. And here comes Sega Suzuki. He had a very tough time hitting Milwaukee pitching during the regular season. Just six hits in 54 at bats and only one home run. Here’s a swinger drive deep left field. It’s got a chance. Get out the tape measure. Long gone. Threerun homer. Seya Suzuki. Cubs lead three to nothing. So much for regular season stats. It’s playoff time. Suzuki hit one over the second deck and into the third deck here at American Family Field. Cubs up three to nothing. And I think we said it’d probably be good if they get off to a good start. I think that qualifies. Now Shota Ianaga run has been gifted with three runs to work with thanks to the home run by Suzuki. Two on with two away for Andrew Vaughn. Vaughn has seen Imanaga seven times. He’s three for seven lifetime against him. Another pale fly ball left field. Hap on the warning track. Hap at the wall. It’s gone. Andrew Vaughn ties it in the bottom of the first inning with a three-run homer. Unbelievable. Time and time again, Andrew Vaughn has come up clutch for the Brewers. His first career postseason homer. I thought it was going to scrape the top of the roof. So, a pair of threerun homers. Back to even in Milwaukee. The postseason debut of the 23-year-old Jacob Miserowski. An all-star this year. He took baseball by storm trying to find that June and early July form here in October. Mizarowski facing Hap with Suzuki at first and one away. 3-2 pitch swing and a miss. Slider at the very top of the zone at 95. So here’s Carson Kelly. Suzuki at first with two outs here in the top of the third. Runner takes off from first. It’s grounded right back to Miserowski and he’ll jog all the way to the bag. flexes at the crowd after he gets the final out. The Miz with an exciting third puts up a zero. We go to the bottom of the third. Here’s William Contrarus. Hard to catch 104 miles an hour with a broken middle finger, right? Or a compromised middle finger on your left hand. Contras with a drive to left field and the Brewers have the lead. A no doubt shot from William Contrarus. You were saying compromised because some of the injuries. He still caught 128 games. He’s still one of the best hitting catchers in all of baseball. 411 ft off the bat at 107.6. It was a no doubter for Wild Bill. First career postseason home run for William Contrarus. What a game. We’re in the fourth and he fans Pete Crow Armstrong. Now the hardest thing to do is try to get a guy who’s throwing 100 plus in the zone. Swanson hung up. Miz arowski tying him in a knot. That’ll bring up Michael Bush out of the dugout and he flies one to left field. Tailing away from Cheurio towards the corner and he makes the catch in front of the railing. Cheerio just wanting to make sure he found that wall more than anything and makes the catch down in the left field corner in foul territory. No team in the National League better with runners in scoring position. No team in baseball better with runners in scoring position and two outs. Churio at the dish. You just don’t see this. You don’t see a guy leaving early in a game because of an injury and then playing two days later. Churio with a drive center field way back there and gone. All seven runs for Milwaukee via the long ball tonight. All the runs scored with two outs. You just gave the number best in baseball hitting with runners in scoring position and two outs. The lights are never too bright for the 21-year-old Jackson Cheerio. A threerun blast. It is seven to3 Milwaukee. The hamstring is just fine. That kid is built for October. Her lines one into right field for a base hit. So nice start to the fifth inning. Warner’s second base hit of the game. Here comes Kyle Tucker. 0 for one with a walk and a run scored. Tucker strikes out. Four Ks for Miserowski. Suzuki with a fly ball to right. Shallow. Freelick run out of room perhaps. He makes the catch against the railing. No margin for error. Well, maybe most right fielders they would run out of play but not Salic. What a play. Two away. In half. Digs in. Warner at first. Cubs down 73. Top of the fifth. Popped up. Shurio. Long way to go. Loses his hat. Makes the catch and foul ground. S retired. Miz pumps a fist, screams up into the air. Three scoreless innings from Jacob Mizerowski. Abner Urebe is on to try and put the finishing touches on the Chicago Cubs in this ninth inning and give the Brewers a two games to none series lead. The series shifting to the north side of Chicago on Wednesday. Here’s his pitch. Swing and a miss and a slider. One away. Devastating slider from Ari. 13 straight Cubs retired by the Brewers bullpen. Pete Crow Armstrong will be the hitter. PCA down on strikes. A pair of strikeouts for Abner Urebe. The Cubs are down to their final out in game two. And now the last hope for the Cubs is Dansby Swanson. Brewers pitchers have retired 14 in a row. One strike for a two- series lead. Got him. Aribe strikes out the side in the ninth and the Brewers have a strangle hold in this series. The Milwaukee Magic keeps rolling. The Brewers bullpen retires the last 15 batters in a row and the Cubs are on the brink as the series shifts to Chicago.

  1. What we thought would be a competitive long series is turning out to be a short beat down. Once again the Phillies bats go cold in the playoffs and don't show up! They have to break this team up! They cannot come back with the same players expecting different results year in and year out.
