1 MINUTE AGO! FOOTE’S CANUCKS MAKE STUNNING MOVE AS GM ALLVIN FACES MASSIVE FAN BACKLASH ONLINE

All right, it’s finally here. The official roster dropped. We had a headscratching cut that nobody saw coming. The fan base is absolutely on fire on social media. And we’ve got a rookie who’s about to make history on opening night. It’s that time of the season where everything just feels possible and also a little bit insane. Just hold on to your seats because the final name in this story is going to leave everyone speechless. But before we get into this whole mess, do the good luck combo. Come on, hit that subscribe button. It’s free and it helps the crew out here, too. Smash the like button so this noise gets spread around to all the Canucks faithful. And drop a comment because this space belongs to everyone who lives and breathes Vancouver. Now, let’s hit the ice. So, the wait is over. The Vancouver Canucks officially released their 2025 26 opening night roster. And man oh man, do we have things to talk about. It’s 23 guys ready to go toe-to-toe with the Calgary Flames this Tuesday, kicking off a brutal three and five night stretch, including that infamous holiday game against St. Louis that everyone loves to complain about. But the real headline, of course, is the kid, Braden Coots, the 18-year-old rookie who just punched his ticket to the big leagues. The kid had a lights out camp, creative, intense, not just happy to be here kind of play. Assistant coach Brett Mlan even said it. He’s here to make an impression and he did. Are you kidding me? For a guy who should still just be getting his feet wet, Coots already seems to understand what wearing that jersey means. And listen, the competition wasn’t exactly soft. Management had to finalize the roster literally 2 hours before the NHL deadline. When the hammer dropped, the list came out. Person, Bozer, De Brusk, Garland, Evander Kane. Yeah, that guy. The most polarizing addition of the summer, plus a whole load of names promising depth. Pierre Olivier Joseph, for example, is here to fight for serious minutes on defense. Up front, besides the big guns, you’ve got Leery Maki and Arsh Deep Baines trying to prove they deserve to stay. And we can’t forget the key detail. Elias Person, the defenseman, not that one, is confirmed, which completely changes the balance of the blue line. In net, the teams rolling with Demco and Lankinan. Solid tandem, but come on. If Demco holds the level he showed last season, we can absolutely dream. Right now, the vibe is a team that feels more like a group, a mix of grizzled vets and hungry young guns. And for those of us rooting in Vancouver, that’s music to our ears. Because let’s be real, we’ve seen too many superstar rosters that delivered nothing. This one, on paper, at least looks like a cohesive squad. Oh, and another point that flew under the radar, the energy in practice. According to those who watched the camp, the mood was lighter with Adam foot at the helm pushing intensity and discipline. The guy knows what the playoffs are all about, and the message was crystal clear. No passengers this year. To be totally honest with you, this season opener smells like a fresh start. I’m not saying it’s going to be easy. It never is. But the roster Alvin built seems more balanced, less reliant on isolated heroes. And most importantly, they look hungry. The fans torn between excitement and trauma. Naturally, that’s Vancouver fandom 101. But seeing an 18-year-old kid earn his spot reawakens that maybe this is it feeling. And just follow this thought process. because what happened next left a lot of people scratching their heads. Now, hold on to your hats because right in the middle of all the roster excitement came the cut that left the fan base floored. Victor Mancini and Tom Wanderer got shipped down to Abbottzford and people were livid. Look, Alvin had to trim the roster, sure, but messing with the defense when the team is still searching for balance. That didn’t sit well with a lot of people. The announcement came out cold on social media. Mancini and Willander have been assigned to Abbottzford. Simple as that. And man, it took less than 5 minutes for the chatter to start. Willer, you can kind of get the kids just coming over from Boston University, still adjusting to the North American Pro game. No real drama there, but Mancini, that was a shocker. The guy had a solid camp, showed physicality, and looked ready to nail down a bottom pair role. Analyst Daniel Wagner from Vancouver is awesome. Even tried to explain the move. He figured Alvin chose to keep Elias Patterson. Yeah, the Swedish defenseman who had a steady preseason and was in direct competition with Mancini. And to be fair, Person played with a consistency that impressed. Not flashy, but confident and smart. Wagner even said if it was Person’s spot to lose, he didn’t lose it. He played solid, physical, and showed why management trusts him. Hard to argue with that. Still, a lot of people expected to see Mancini on the team, even if it was just on the third pairing. After all, the guy didn’t look out of place in any preseason game. And here’s the kicker. Wagner himself thinks Mancini will be back quick. He’s at the top of the call-up list for any injury or defensive adjustment. And knowing the Canucks track record, that phone is going to ring early. Honestly, this move shows Alvin is betting big on youth, but with control. He wants to polish these guys in the minors so they don’t rush things. But the fans don’t always have patience for the process, do we? Especially after years of promises. Ultimately, this decision reveals more about Foots and Alvin’s plan than it seems. Solidify a core that can carry the team to the playoffs, even if it causes controversy now. It’s that old long-term gamble that only pays off if the team starts winning. The fans are demanding results. They want to see wins, not just talk. Mancini has become the symbol of collective dissatisfaction. The guy who did everything right and still got cut. And the craziest part is the story was about to get even hotter because when that final list dropped, the fan reaction absolutely exploded. No way. The fans patience just snapped. As soon as the confirmation of the cuts hit social media, a flood of comments started demanding Patrick Alvin’s head. Yes, the general manager, the guy who built the roster and backed the decision to send Mancini and Willer to Abbottzford. And listen, the reaction was like a volcano erupting. On X, you had everything. There were fans defending the plan, saying Alvin’s playing the long game. And then there were the I rateate people calling it a lack of vision. The phrase that kept popping up. Mancini deserved his spot. See, for a lot of people, the cut felt like an unfair punishment for a guy who exceeded expectations. And look, the truth is, you can see both sides. Tom Wanderer is still green. He’s crossing the pond, learning the pro game. No drama there. But Mancini, he played tough. didn’t shy away, delivered the fundamentals a defender needs, and he was passed over for Elias Person, the defenseman, not the star forward, who also had a solid preseason. The problem is that a big part of the fan base sees favoritism since Person has a different status within the group. But looking at it coldly, Alvin did what GMs do. He cut for fit, not emotion. He wants speed, quick transition, and clean puck movement. And let’s face it, Mancini is more physical than technical. His style is hit first, think later, which Foot actually likes. But the current defensive system is asking for a different approach. Even so, the timing was brutal. Last Sunday, before the opener, team hyped, fans confident, and then the announcement. Thud, energy flatlined, and to make matters worse, the club’s own post got invaded by comments. Some with irony, great, so we’ll lose with elegance then. others with rage. This GM is messing with us. You got to be kidding me. An administrative move causing this much commotion just shows how fragile confidence still is in Vancouver. After years of ups and downs, the fan doesn’t want to hear about planning. They want wins. They want playoffs. They want to stop being the division’s meme. And if one thing’s clear from this whole episode, it’s that Alvin is walking on a tight rope. Every decision he makes now is read as a test of collective patience. And if the team starts slow, you better believe the calls for change will get loud fast. But hold on, because in the middle of this chaos came a piece of news that ignited a spark of hope. And this time it was huge. Now hold your breath because this is the kind of news that makes a fan jump off the couch. Braden Cudis, the kid we talked about at the beginning, has his future confirmed. He’s going to make the Canucks main roster debut. Yes, at 18 years old, and the detail is historic. The last guy to do that was Peter Nedv way back in 1990. 35 years later, history repeats itself. Insider John Shannon from 100% Canucks with Ferraro and Shannon dropped the bomb Monday morning. Word in Vancouver is Coots will be in the lineup for opening night against Calgary. And that was enough to drive social media crazy. The fan base exploded with excitement because seeing a young player like that break barriers gives a boost that the whole locker room feels. Cudis, a Sherwood Park native, came out of an absurd camp. Smart, creative, and as assistant coach Brett Mlan said, “He’s not just here to participate, he’s here to impress.” And he impressed. The kid kept picking up steam, earning his space, and ended up getting his chance thanks to management’s decisions, especially with Mancini and Willander going to the AHL. In other words, his opportunity emerged right in the eye of the storm. But the most beautiful part of this story is the symbolism. Vancouver has always had a cautious history with young players, preferring to protect talent too much. And now Alvin is taking the risk. Putting a teenager on real ice in a real game that sends a strong message. The team wants a change in mentality. And to be honest, that’s what was missing because the fans are sick of seeing prospects buried. Cudis arrives with the energy of someone who wants to prove something and that’s contagious. The coaching staff itself seems to have that sparkle in their eyes. Foot knows what he has a diamond in the rough with the potential to become an idol if the process is handled well. Of course, there’s still the possibility of him only doing the nine-game try out before heading back to juniors. But even if that happens, it’s still hugely symbolic. It’s the confirmation that the future has arrived sooner than we all thought. And the best part, the vibe in the city has shifted. After days of criticism and doubt, this announcement brought lightness, hope, and that feeling only Vancouver fans understand. Maybe this time it works out. Just wait. Coot’s first touch of the puck is going to be history. And at the end of the day, this past week was a microcosm of what it’s like to root for the Vancouver Conucks. Emotion, doubt, hope, and in the middle of it all, that flame that never goes out. Cuts debut reignites the pride. The cuts showed courage, and the fan base, as always, is right there cheering and calling them out. This team messes with us every single day. Just when we think we’ve seen everything, something new pops up to become the debate on the concourse. So, drop a comment below. This space belongs to everyone who lives the Canucks life. 1. Good move on management to promote Cootes to a roster spot. It’s a good message to future prospects, saying that no matter your age or draft position, if you can and we will

Mancini should have made this team. I’m not saying him instead of Pettersson, what I’m saying is they are both better, or soon will be better in very short time than Myers…Willander too. The Canucks essentially have 2 legit RHD competing for Myers spot. What a great problem to have

  2. I've been starting to think that D-Pettey is more and more reminding me of a young Chris Tanev, with a bit more offensive talent. I can see why D-Pettey won the spot, great as Mancini was, and good as Willander was. I've known all week that players deserving of an NHL spot who won't make it due to them having more players that deserve a spot then there are spots.

  3. Would have been excited to see Mancini over Forbert – Mancini will likely be in the lineup full-time within 15 games – Forbert is struggling to be healthy for opening night!
