The crash happened along North Carolina Highway 73 in Lincoln County, officials said.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — NASCAR Cup Series driver Daniel Suárez shared scary photos of a multi-vehicle crash involving his wife, mother and mother-in-law that left his wife’s SUV seriously damaged on Monday.

Suárez posted the images on social media. Officials confirmed the crash happened along North Carolina 73, just west of Highway 16 in eastern Lincoln County. Suárez said the trio was riding in his wife’s Chevrolet Blazer SUV, which was destroyed in the collision.

North Carolina State Highway Patrol said Julia Suarez was traveling westbound on Highway 73 when she slowed to make a left turn and got rear-ended. That pushed her SUV into the eastbound lanes, collecting two additional vehicles. All three people inside Suarez’s SUV were taken to the hospital with injuries that aren’t considered life-threatening. No one else was hurt in the crash.

“This car saved the lives of my wife, mother and mother-in-law,” Suárez said. “Yesterday was a very scary day. Today, I’m just so grateful that they are alive.”
