I'll add that there should be less incomplete passes, stupid penalties, and better coverage outside soft zone or whatever it is because as soon as teams go for the passing game, it's atrocious to see how exposed we're!

  1. Now, it doesn’t mean they have to rush everyone out there, but a gradual exposure to key snaps should be key! This also means a delicate balance to target them rather than just one or two guys we know who they are!
Edit: One of my issues with Stafford is that he doesn’t always target more guys even when their chances are open in films! This is probably my own gripe with him!

  2. Working in Hunter is a must. There has to be some consequence to the fumbles by the others and even without those mistakes, we are in sore need of game breaking speed and pass catching at the RB position.

  3. Just one more: Quit going for the home run on stretch plays on 3rd (and 4th) and short.

I know McVay REALLY wants one of these to hit, but he always is calling for Stafford to make a pinpoint throw (seam route, go route down the sideline, etc.) and hit a partially covered receiver in stride from 20+ yards away. Obviously, Staff can (and does) easily do this, but it requires too much finesse and precision (and risk) for a play that simply needs to move the chains. Quick slants or quick outs, Sean. I know it’s meat and potatoes and “the normal ” call, but just get the damn first down and keep the chains moving. Quit calling so many “drop it in the bucket” passes on 3rd and 2.

  4. Time to move off Corum. He literally adds nothing to the team. He’s a Kyren Williams clone who’s not as good but just as mistake prone. Harbaugh’s two RBs are injured and he got the most production out of Corum at MI. This is the time to do it.

  5. One thousand percent agree with everything here, but Hunter def ain’t getting no carries this soon.

  6. All good points.

I would like to add that McVay needs to be more creative in the RZ – and perhaps a combination of Ferguson and Hunter can help with that.

One more: Stop passing the ball to Corum. He has some of the worst hands/catch instincts from a RB I’ve seen in recent memory.

  7. I think everyone is pounding their fist to see Hunter but him having zero carries so far is very telling to me. Coaching staff must not think he’s ready based off of what they’ve seen in practice.

As for Avila, I obviously want to see him back in the lineup but Dedich has been fine and I’m OK with him getting another start if we need one more week to get Avila back to 100%.

I know everyone has a “Sky is falling” mentality right now but the reality is that the offense is moving the ball extremely well in both the run and pass game right now. If not for some bad fumbles and wide open drops, this offense was absolutely humming last week. We have some things to clean up but by no means should we try to flip the world on its head.

  8. I agree with 3-5 but Ferguson and Hunter aren’t going to play significant snaps until they show that they can do their part protecting Stafford. The season depends on him staying healthy. If one of them whiffs on a block and gets Stafford hurt, that’s honestly a fire-able offense. If they were ready, they’d be out there. Maybe we’ll see them eventually this year, but if not, it’s because McVay doesn’t trust them yet.

  9. McVay still has his team in vanilla mode right now. You don’t want your “gotta have it” plays on display in the 1st quarter of the season. This team might look completely different scheme-wise after the bye. I caught a reel of [Edleman’s podcast ](https://youtu.be/JL9T6eFDkPI?si=eG2ejIiIysfNmaB0) where he said the patriots take 8 weeks to learn their identity. I’m all for redshirting your rookies til next man up is enforced. Hopefully, by then, your scheme is installed in them closer to 100%.

  10. Jake Tonges, CMC, and Kyle Juszczyk had 18 catches on 24 targets between the 3 of them cuz our defense played such soft zone coverage. When we finally started pressing them to take away the underneath stuff, we started getting them off the field. We rarely made Mac Jones hold on to the ball and beat us; he averaged 4.5 air yards per pass attempt.

  11. The improvement I would most like to see from last week is Shula not having our CBs playing 12 yds off the ball giving a free 7 yds whenever they want it. At least make them beat us don’t just give it away
