IS THIS A HUGE TRADE FOR THE 49ERS OR NOT? SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS NEWS

Kendrick Bourne drinks for free today. One of the most underrated personalities in the entire league. Kendrick Bourne. Unbelievable. Uh Niners won on the scoreboard. They also won uh on the runway. The the aesthetics the aesthetic of M. Jones and Kendrick Bourne just completely unmatched. But no, look, this was this was Kyle Shanahan’s masterpiece, right? They had no business winning this game. I was watching Thursday Night Football saving private Ryan for half of this game with M. Jones limping around. It’s unbelievable. Uh but Kendrick Bourne uh seems to have that rapport with M. Jones from the New England days. Uh and Kyle Shanahan, he’s willing to put the ball in M. Jones’s hands. So we see that Kendrick Bourne goes 10 for 142. Christian McCaffrey, by the way, is on pace for 1300 receiving. This is ridiculous. Which would have been like third in the NFL last year among all players. Uh your man Connor Jake Tes 11 targets. Uh goes seven for 41 and a touchdown. Marcus Robson, Kyle Yusk checking in. I just think this was such a testament to Kyle Shanahan. It really was. I mean, when you see a a graphic that shows Kyle use getting four targets, it kind of tells you how banged up this team was. But Shanahan is somebody that we’ve seen this before with him. Matthew, he can win with backup quarterbacks. He can find backup receivers, ways to scheme them open. And Mack and Kendrick Bourne had it going all night for this team. Yeah, you know, they really did. 84% route participation for Kendrick Bourne. 23% target share, five slot targets. To your point, Jay, about Kyle Shanahan just sort of scheming up a win. They put Kendrick Bourne in a lot of different positions to get the ball in his hands. Friend of the podcast, Kendrick Bourne, one of the one of the more favorite interviews we’ve ever done. He he was with us on Super Bowl uh radio row a couple years ago. Real and like didn’t had really uh you know knew much about him personalitywise. He’s awesome. He’s an easy guy to root for. Um so it was nice to sort of see his moment in the sun here. I don’t know that there’s a massive fantasy takeaway here because there’s a chance that we have Jennings, Ricky, Jawan Jennings, Ricky Pisol, and George KD all back in week six. And so whether it is M. Jones or Brock Perie under center, I sort of think that if those guys are healthy, sort of a, you know, good for you if you started uh if you picked up and started Kendrick Bourne in a league like our very own George Sabaricus did, shout out to George. He did that. Well done. Well played. Um, but I don’t know that there’s a massive takeaway here, unless those guys miss time. The one thing the one take away is is if those guys continue to miss time, at least now we have clarity on sort of who the who the number one niner wide receiver when Pieralt and Jennings is out. To me, the more interesting conversation here, guys, is M. Jones. I’m with you, Jay. That that red and black suit was something else. Um, but Connor, I thought he looked very comfortable in this Kyle Shanahan offense. And as we know, there was talk that Kyle wanted to draft M. Jones and not Trey Lance with a third overall pick few years back in the draft that they ended up getting Brock Perie in the last uh with the very last pick of that draft. Yeah. Now you see why, right? Just the confidence and decisiveness and how accurate it is when you keep him upright. And obviously M. Jones took some huge shots last night. He really hung in there. Looked like multiple times Jay he was going to have to come out of this game and he kept limping back in. But that’s what Kyle Shanahan cares about in this offense is can you work to the proper reads and get the ball out on time and accurately. And that’s M. Jones’s best traits, honestly. When you look at when he was working with Josh McDaniels in New England before that staff completely fell apart, this is what he looked like. It’s just that we had so many years of incompetence and then he was a backup last year in Jacksonville where he also played pretty well. He’s a structure guy, but obviously he can play very well within the structure. Yeah. And I thought that I think the most underrated stat in all of football sacks from the quarterback perspective. I thought the most impressive thing about M. Jones last night was he dropped back 49 times uh and couldn’t move for most of the game and still I believe just took the one sack or so. Jared verse never got him. He was able to stay upright. He was able to keep the offense on track. And I think the big thing Connor about this offense was two things. One, they just can’t run the ball at all. This is now five games in a row where Kusha McCaffrey has not even sniffed efficiency on the ground for whatever reason. They just can’t uh they can’t create efficiency on the ground. So that means that they have to throw the ball and KL Shanahan feels comfortable putting the ball in M. Jones’s hands. It seems like good chance that KD Pole and Jawan Jennings all come back next week. So this offense is going to be a lot more loaded um with explosive and extremely confident pass catches. Like M. Jones last night on DraftKings, he he’s I think his passing prop closed like 213 and a half. This guy’s going for 279 plus in all three of his starts. Like he is going to be a guy, I think, who when he’s starting is going to put up 250 plus passing yards because they can’t run and with a good chance of one or two passing touchdowns. So, I think that’s a very viable QB, too, Matthew. Yeah, he’s averaged over 19 fantasy points per game in his three starts. And it does it does ask the question like seeing how well M. Jones has played during this stretch like should they have given Kyle Brock party you know whatever it was you know close 40 some odd million a year um uh because for the people that are critical of Brock Pury and we are Brock Pury fans on this show but for the people that are critical of Brock Pury who say he’s a system quarterback he’s a he’s a you know beneficiary of Kyle Shanahan scheme uh Matt Jones’s performance isn’t helping uh counter that argument um but I agree with you like again it feels like the pretty uh injury might be a little bit more serious and that there’s a chance he’s not back next week. And so, uh, especially as we get into the by-weeks, Jones is a very viable streamer as long as, uh, as long as Pertie is out. By the way, guys, roll tide. M. Jones, of course, a proud Alabama graduate. Roll tide. Roll tie. Damn it. Wasn’t sure if you’re an Alabama fan. Uh, I saw the hat first and then the t-shirt confirmed it. It’s good to win in Rome, Jay. You know what? Like, like I know I know. um you know you who like you know every other week is a lifelong fan of somebody but you know at some point some of us with integrity have to plant a flag and say yeah you’re damn right damn right to Jay’s credit he wants nothing to do with a college team no no I’m not on college but I’m a Colts man this has been a longer one by the way M Jones average time to throw 2.36 seconds in week four that would have been the second fastest only behind Aaron Rogers but unlike Aaron Rogers there’s actually some depth to his targets. I’m serious. Can actually move. Yeah. Julio, think you are. Always good to see him amongst the regulars. Future Emmy award winner Connor Rogers and Evil Jay matching hoodies is a vibe. Welcome to the welcome to the movement. Yeah, I’m part of it. It’s October. It’s time to roll. Apparently, track show Friday. Uh just tracksuit Friday is just out of the out the door. Now it’s fitting Friday. No more big show. I got to get medium show on board. Once I get him in a tracksuit, then it’ll return. By the way, just linking back to the Brock Birdie point, Connie, you just said it’s October. It’s not. It’s Brocktober now. We’ve crossed over into Brocktober. He will be the starter. No, not Mactober. Mactober. Brock Perie is better than Mac. Jones. I say this with a great deal of confidence. He’s just does more things on the football field than Mac Jones does. Now, maybe the gap isn’t as big as we thought that it might be a few weeks ago, but Perty will come back. And here’s the thing. Perie will be the starter. He will come back because they paid him a quarter of a billion dollars. So, he has to be the starter and I think rightfully so. But, I don’t think that really materially changes the outlook for anyone uh skill position wise. What would the Bengals offense look like if they had M. Jones. Everybody wonders. They’d be uh be trying to go to Florida wanting us. What’s up, faithful? Victor here from the 49ers insider report and today we’re diving into a wild trade rumor that’s been heating up fast. Could the 49ers actually trade Mac Jones before the deadline? I know what you’re thinking, Victor, he’s 3-0 as our starter. Why would we even think about trading him? But the NFL is a business, and when you’ve got a guy whose stock is skyhigh, sometimes you have to at least listen to the offers. So, let’s talk about it. my what’s real, what’s rumor, and whether it actually makes sense for San Francisco. Let’s start with the obvious. M. Jones has completely revived his career under Kyle Shanahan. The guy went from being labeled as a bust in New England to becoming the surprise hero of the Niners season since stepping in for Brock Perie. Mack has gone three zero as a starter, including that massive 342yard, two touchdown game against the Rams on the road. That wasn’t luck. That was poise, precision, and command of Shanahan’s system. And it honestly makes sense. This offense is built for a quarterback like Mack. Quick reads, timing routes, high accuracy. In fact, since taking over, Jones has completed over 71% of his passes, and the offense has averaged over 28 points per game with him at QB. Nick Sabin, the man who coached Mack at Alabama, even said recently that Jones was in a bad situation in New England and that he’s finally in the right system. And you can see it. This looks like the M. Jones we saw in college. Confident, sharp, decisive. So why are we even talking about a trade? Simple value. M. Jones’s value has never been higher. He’s proven he can win games, manage Shanahan’s system, and make big time throws. Meanwhile, quarterback injuries are piling up all over the league. The Bengals, Saints, Jets, even the Commanders, and playoff hopefuls are getting desperate. If John Lynch and Kyle Shanahan want to cash in, this might be the perfect window. Whether it’s adding defensive help, stacking draft picks, or replacing injured stars like Nick Bosa, there are a few teams that could make real offers, this one actually makes a ton of sense. The Saints are rolling with Tyler Show and Spencer Rattler, but they’re both unproven. Head coach Kell Moore loves structured timing based offenses. Exactly where M. Jones thrives. A possible deal. Saints send defensive tackle Nathan Shepard and a mid-round pick to San Francisco. That gives the Niners a boost on the Dline, which has been hit hard by injuries, while the Saints get a QB ready to lead right now. That’s a win-win. Now, this one would be bold. Joe Burrow is hurt again and the Bengals are in save the season mode. Meanwhile, the Ners need an elite pass rusher with Nick Bosa out for the year. So, what if the Niners flipped M. Jones plus a draft pick for Trey Hendrickson, the reigning NFL sack leader. Hendrickson has 72.5 sacks since 2020, third most in the entire league, behind only Miles Garrett and TJ Watt. That’s instant production for a defense that’s missing its biggest star. Yeah, it’s aggressive, but that’s exactly the kind of move a Super Bowl contender makes. Here’s a sneaky one. The New York Jets under new head coach Aaron Glenn. Justin Fields has been inconsistent and the Jets are still searching for that steady, reliable pocket passer. Jones fits that perfectly. Accurate, smart, low-risk football. If the Jets offer Tyrod Taylor and a fourth round pick, the 49ers could pick up valuable draft capital and still have QB depth. For the Jets, it’s a long-term answer at quarterback. For the NerS, it’s flexibility. All right, here’s where I stand, faithful. I love what M. Jones has done. The guy’s been professional, sharp, and exactly what this team needed when Pertie went down. But let’s be honest, this is still Brock Pery’s team. Kyle Shanahan believes in him. The front office believes in him. So, if there’s a team willing to overpay, not to give you a legit defensive piece or a premium draft pick, I think you have to listen because let’s be real, you can’t keep two starting caliber quarterbacks forever. And with how fragile this roster has been with injuries, turning Mac’s hot streak into more depth might be the smarter long-term move. All right, Niner gang. Now, I want to hear from you. Should the 49ers trade Mac Jones while his value is skyhigh? Or should we keep him as the best insurance policy in the league? And if we do trade him, which team would you deal with, the Saints, Bengals, or Jets? Drop your takes in the comments below.
