All that information is in the comments and description of this video. Now, let’s get to the roster news. First things first, the player that has signed, Michael Davis, a cornerback who is familiar with Brandon Staley. He is expected to sign with the active roster. It was a full-time starter for the Chargers from 2018 to 2023. Had 74 starts throughout that duration. Has played in over 120 games total. He started two games for Washington last year. Um, and he does have familiarity within Brandon Staley’s scheme because he did play in Brandon Staley’s team whenever Staley was the head coach of the Chargers. And now, we do know that this is not a practice squad addition. It is a signing to the active roster. Mike Gafello added that context. Uh, he agreed to sign with the team’s practice squad and then the Lions actually made a call to go and get him. So, New Orleans went ahead and just put him on the active roster. So, that’s the latest around the player who’s been signed, Michael Davis. He’s a player who does have a ton of experience. 363 tackles. He isn’t anything super great. I talked to my guy Jack Spar out here. He’s a wizard when it comes to scouting some of these players. Doesn’t really move the needle. He’s not much of a threat. He isn’t really anything special. He’s not going to do anything too crazy. I think it’s more of a depth piece to be totally honest. And you know, I don’t think that he’s a player that’s going to get heavily rotated in. I think it’s just, you know, a little extra insurance if you will. And you know, why would they sign this player? Why would they spend the money? For what it’s worth, I don’t think it’s going to be much money. But we do know that Isaac Yadam, he’s suffering and dealing with a hamstring injury. So that could keep him out for a while. So the Saints would need some depth because if Isaac Yadam is unavailable, the cornerback room is just limited to Kool-Aid McKenzie, Alante Taylor, Ugo Amati, Ray Jean Wright, and I think I said Quincy Riley. All right. Right. I Yeah. By that my point being you’re going to need an extra guy around in the quarterback room if Isaac Adams gonna be missing some serious time. So, let’s go through all of the roster news really quickly. As we mentioned, Michael Davis, he was signed to the active roster. Bailis Jones Jr., he’s been serving as a kick returner next to Kendra Miller. He has been waved. I want to talk about that here in just a second. Ronnie Bell, the wide receiver, signed to the practice squad. And Maliki Mataval, seventh round pick by New Orleans. He’s been kind of back and forth on the route roster. Clearly, they are just doing the roster management stuff with him. he is back on the practice roster or uh practice squad, excuse me. And so when it comes to the Vis Jones Jr. waving, there’s a couple things that come to mind. First thing is Taesm Hill now that he’s available, I wonder if he will fill in at the kick return role next to uh Kendre Miller. And I do think that that could be a valuable spot for Taesm Hill to get some quality reps in where you can be a key contributor, but you’re not taking hits every single play. And on top of that, you have to also consider the fact that maybe Rashid Shahid is going back into that role. I don’t know if that would make a ton of sense because he’s been really emerging as a wide receiver and I’d rather just try to keep him healthy. All that being said, maybe it’s Rashid Shahed, maybe it’s Taesm Hill who will take over in the kick returning spot. But we do know right now that as of the time of this filming, uh, 3:51 p.m. on October 7th, we can tell you that there is not another player next to Kendra Miller. At least that has been taking snaps at the kick returning spot on the roster. For what it’s worth, Baylor Jones could still be back in New Orleans. The Saints, if could bring him back and elevate him to the active roster, I’d have to bring him back to the practice squad if he clears waiverss. So, that’s something that you’ll have to monitor and we’ll see what happens. But three more moves for the New Orleans Saints, seven total. You had the four guys that we just mentioned, Michael Davis signed, Vis Jones Wade, Ronnie Bell signed to the practice squad, and Maliki Mataval also to the practice squad. Three players released from the practice squad. Tommy Malot, the most notable of the three, at least in terms of names that I know of and heard of. He was a rookie out of I don’t remember where he actually went to college, but he was a rookie uh drafted by the Raiders. Saints brought him in. He was on the practice squad. uh they have now terminated the contracts for these three players. So, there’s the roster news for you. Now, let’s get into some fun discussions about a player that the Saints could potentially sign to help bolster the offense. But, I want to encourage you before we get into that to subscribe to the channel. You’ll get more Saints news, you’ll get more Saints content. Interesting wide receiver target has now been made available. A former firstround pick out of the great University of Arkansas, Trayon Burks. He is a player who recently was with the Tennessee Titans, has had some things happen, but let’s have a conversation about potentially bringing him to New Orleans. And I do want to set the scene here because I think that the Saints definitely need to get more out of their offense, especially when it comes to the passing side of this squad. I think that the Saints have done a good job identifying themselves and creating the identity of being a rushing team that has a quality rushing attack led by Alvin Chimera and Kendre Miller. But to be totally honest, Chris Olive being your wide receiver one, not leading the team in receiving yards is a little bit concerning for me, especially considering the fact he leads the team in catches. Rasheed Shahi has been absolutely awesome. Jawan Johnson has been a big contributor as well. Could have much better production, but he does have a handful of drops. So does Chris Olive. And Brandon Cooks, no disrespect to him. I don’t think that he’s been bad. I just would like to see a higher level player and somebody who could be a more quality contributor be on the field more often. I value Brandon Cooks, but I just think that you could get more out of like your wide receiver three4, if you will. And the Saints offense in 2025 has been at the bottom of the league in a lot of the efficiency measurements. And when it comes to the passing offense, they also haven’t been super duper efficient in that regard. You can see the numbers on your screen right now. the offense 27th in points per game. They move the ball okay, but really not that well when you consider it uh across the rest of the league. Yards per play, they’re really not great. Third down conversion, they could use some help. They need to score more actively in the red zone. And a factor that I think that the Saints are missing is the size in the wide receiver room. And of course, you traded for Devon Vele. You send a fourth and a seventh round selection for a player who’s really, really good in the contested catch situations. And he’s a player that I think has been severely underutilized. And of course, you have to give him some time to get ready. You have to give him some time to learn the playbook, get acclimated to the offense, and all of that, but it feels like we just haven’t been utilizing him nearly enough. And I think that if you don’t have that size utilized in the wide receiver room, you need to go and get it. And I think that bringing in Trayon Burks could potentially make some sense considering he is a player that’s 6 foot2, 225 pounds. that would be extremely helpful in the wide receiver room that has a ton of speed but not a lot of size. Indian Rapaort recently put this report out there. Titans first round pick, former first round pick Trayon Burks, who has been recovering from a broken collarbone since training camp has been cleared for all football team activities uh by the Titans team physician. Uh Burks was released from IR and he can go and sign with anyone. So he is available to sign. He is cleared to play all football activities, meaning you could go and sign him today, he could practice and he could potentially be on the field very, very soon. And I think that it’s an interesting wide receiver target because he’s a player that hasn’t really been good. Let’s just call it what it is. I’m an Arkansas Razer background. I’m a fan. I was there when he was playing. I even got to hang out with him a handful of times. Pretty cool dude. Well, I will say this. I think that he’s a player that could fulfill a role that’s missing in New Orleans. The Saints haven’t had that alpha bigbodied wide receiver that you can operate over the middle. You can utilize just as a a a weapon, if you will. You haven’t had that since Michael Thomas has been around. And the uh excuse me, the Eagles and Kell Moore won a Super Bowl using AJ Brown. And of course, the Titans traded AJ Brown to the Eagles. They drafted Trayon Burks with hopes that he would be the replacement, but he’s been underwhelming throughout his career thus far. And I do think that he’s a player, if you aren’t going to have AJ Brown, obviously you’re not going to go and trade for him, you could potentially bring in somebody who’s very similar to AJ Brown. Now, you can look at the production that Burks has put up since being drafted out of Arkansas, and again, it’s really nothing crazy. It’s been riddled, his career has been riddled with injuries. He hasn’t been super productive when he’s been on the field. But I do think that a change of scenery for this guy could really, really, really be helpful. It’s not like he’s done himself any favors. he hasn’t been available. There’s been reports out there that maybe he shows up o overweight or he’s not in shape or whatever. There’s a lot of stuff said about Trayon Burks and for what it’s worth, a lot of that is because of his own doing or because he hasn’t been available. And when he has been available, he hasn’t been great. But I do think the Titans also haven’t given him the best situation around him. They’ve been a team over the last few years who have been in turmoil. They’ve had drafted multiple quarterbacks. They change head coaches. They’ve kind of just blown everything up. And I think that it changes scenery for a player who at college was extremely productive and is one of the reasons that Arkansas football was on the map. He quite literally kept Sam Pitman a job and he kept him around for so long. Sam Pitman was able to get so many wins because of Trayon Burks. He was KJ Jefferson’s number one target. He was absolutely lethal. 75 yards per game, almost 2,400 yards, 146 catches. I mean, this guy was really, really talented for the Hogs. And I got to see it happen in live action with my own two eyes. He was a game breaker. He was a game changer. And he was somebody that at any point throughout the four quarters for the Razerbacks would take over and help them march into a victory. and some of the best Razerback football was played when Trayon Burks was their wide receiver. So, I want to address the elephant in the room. I am an Arkansas Razerback grad. I am an Arkansas Razerback fan and so maybe I’m a little bit biased, but I still believe in Trayon Burks. I still think that there’s a really nice player in there and I think that a change of scenery could be really beneficial for him. And even if it’s not to New Orleans, I’m still rooting for this player because he was there when I was there and he gave me some fun moments uh as a Razerback fan. Plus, I do think he would be super duper cheap. You wouldn’t have to pay him much money at all. And for a team like the Saints that could take a lowrisk, highreward flyer on a player like Trayon Burks, maybe it makes some sense. I do want to discuss the injury history because it is pretty concerning going yearbyear. 2022 he missed four games due to a toe injury and then he’s missed two games due to being in concussion protocol. 2023 he missed four games due to a knee sprain and then three more games due to concussion. In 2024 12 games due to a torn ACL and then uh that he tore his ACL during practice in October with special teams drills and then in 2025 he fractured his collar bone. Uh he suffered that injury during training camp and now that is where we’re at today. So, I do think that the injury history is something that’s concerning and I will say that obviously the New Orleans Saints are in no position to just keep bringing in players that are injuryridden. However, let’s not act like this isn’t something the Saints have done before. You remember a few weeks ago when the Saints traded for a player that was on IR, wide receiver Jaylen Pulk, he’s not even available this year and you traded for him. So, normally I would say even though I’m a fan of Trayon Burks and I think that he could be a contributor, I’d say, you know what, you’re probably fine. I think it would be fun. I would personally like to do it and I think that he could be a contributor, but it probably won’t happen. I’d say this is a move you don’t make and this is something you just let some other team deal with. But you traded for Jaylen Pulk, so why the hell not? You already brought in one injured receiver. Might as well bring in another one and see what happens. I mean, what’s the worst that could happen? He just doesn’t do much and then you cut him after a few weeks. I don’t know. I think it could be at least something worth exploring. Should the Saints sign Trayon Burks? Give me a yes or a no in the comment section. Let me know what you think.
