Found this on another team's sub but thought it was relevant for us too. Although the hitting stats of the Twins with Popkins vs post Popkins and the Blue Jays pre vs with seem to back it up, I'm not sure if I'm sold just looking at Correa's stats. I definitely think new energy and philosophy when it comes to hitting us needed for us and that can only happen with a change up with the coaching. https://www.mlb.com/news/david-popkins-blue-jays-hitting-coach-philosophy
Edit: not saying we need to go out and get this hitting coach. Just that a coach with a new approach and philosophy is what we need.

One of the comments that went into the stats for the teams:
Last year the Twins with David Popkins were 10th in k rate and 13th in avg. This year they dropped to 14th and 22nd.
The Jays were 6th in k rate last year and 19th in avg. This year with Popkins they’re #1 in both.
He got huge bounce back seasons from every guy who was struggling in their line up last year, like Springer, Kirk, Bo and Varsho.
Before any other consideration, If we are not knocking on uncle Mike’s door to see whether he has interest, then I fear we have lost the plot.
Why would he leave to take a lateral position?
Changing hitting coaches isn’t going to fix the offense.
The Mariners had among the highest K% in the league in 2023 and 2024. Over the course of two years, they parted ways with their most egregious offenders – Kelenic, Suarez, Haniger – and they got new hitting coaches. All that to strikeout the 3rd most AGAIN this year. Yes, they were top 3 in OBP this year, and drew the second most walks, but they were 2nd in walks in 2024 and above average in 2023.
The Mariners had a team OBP of .321 in 2023, .311 in 2024, .320 in 2025. They had a .734 OPS in 2023, .687 in 2024, and .740 in 2025. 758 runs scored in 2023, 766 this year. The list goes on. Practically nothing has changed for them in terms of offensive production despite a change to in both coaches and players. Why are so many convinced a change in hitting coaches is going to revolutionize the offense?
Our hitting coaches should be let go….i played D1 ball and then a couple of years in pro ball before I plateaued.
I am not giving this information to brag but to share my experience.
The Astros do not see enough pitches….the swinging early in the counts is something we were not even allowed to do in the Reds organization.
The other big thing was having a plan for each AB….i rarely see any sort of concerted effort of what guys are trying to accomplish.
This is directly on the hitting coaches and then ultimately on the manager for allowing it to happen.
Do you guys remember when th Astros were the opposing pitchers nightmare…..they would run a SP’s pitch count up early and get into their BP’s by like the 5th inning.
Now they make it way too easy on the SP’s….when they make guys look like Cy Young….there needs to be a 180 in philosophy and get back to grinding out AB’s.
Hopefully we see a change.
Do you guys not have anything else going on? It’s the offseason
I want Uncle Mike to come home
I’d take anyone over Cintron
Beyond hitting coach, perhaps we need some medium to clear the negative energy hanging around 1st base.
I mean, comeon.
