NHL Highlights | Blackhawks vs. Panthers – October 7, 2025

Welcome to the 2025 2026 NHL season. Time to man your battle station. Oh, we see how great is it to have hockey back and off the draw. Rolled towards the net trying to keep it alive with Sportsling. Could not. Adar moves in. That shot off the post and it’s up into the net. One chance. And here come the Blackhawks. Just a quick up indirect off the boards. Watch Bard using that newfound feed. And Mika with his long reach moves the puck. Swept out tape to tape. March Haggy across the line. Twoon one with Bennett. Bennett shoots. Save made by Knight. A terrific save. Sliding to his left to rob his old teammate. He reverses and there’s Lebanon trying to work it out of the zone. Gets right back to Spencer Knight. patiently plays it to the far half wall and now it’s outleted and a step moving in. Nazar to break away scores the first goal of the season to Frank Nazar on the breakaway and the Blackhawks on the road have the early lead. Spencer Knight is the key. Watch him behind the net. Head up clean. He evades the first four checker goes indirect and that’s what spurs. Nice little unselfish play by Tyler Batuzi that springs Nazar and Nazar has breakaway speed. It’s on full display as he snaps it past the glove. But I I think with 46 million now they can avoid a couple of in Absolutely. They’ll be able to afford what they need. Nazar scores the first goal of the season. Swatted towards the net, blocked in front on the doorstep. Score. The Panthers answer and it’s the fourth line poking it home. AJ Greer. We’re tied at one. [Music] AJ Greer with speed. A little chip to face and then get on his horse number 10 in red. You don’t see him. But now he’s going to go underneath the coverage like a real good wide out in football and get that separation and stays in motion. Watch him. Nobody’s down there. Nobody’s got a body on him. And he forces this one through Spencer Knight. Shots now 123 in favor of the Panthers. How about Bred Marshian? last year only two goals in the 10 games he played in the regular season for the Panthers but then six goals in the finals. Unbelievable. He was unbelievable. Score shorthand side as Verhagy is able to beat Knight stuffing one home on the power play and the Panthers have the lead. Well, here’s another look at that play. Spencer Knight goes for the post check. He’s got it but he’s a little bit out of sorts but he regains his post only to lose his footing. So that short side’s a little bit of elbow. Watch his feet here. He’s unable to seal that short side post. And Rhy being a lefty down there has a great look and he plays the angles to a te by going crossbody top he feeds off of and and then they get to their game. So just understanding who we are, who we need to be and then our game comes from that. Thanks a lot, Nick. Thank you. The Panthers continue to put the pressure on. Kick save made by Knight out of midair by Eklad. He knocks over Greer as Forsling glides back and now accelerates. They’re going to go and now the gloves drop. Felina and Greer. Two tough customers here. Oh. They want to go and they’re not done yet. Nope. There’s more there. Felina over the top. Greer trying to get that right arm free. Felo with a little uppercut. That’s a great tilt to start the season. And this is about sensing the time of the game. Mick Felino says, “Okay, hey, you want this? Hey, we’re down one. Give me one. Let’s go.” Greer Willing. Great job by both these two here at center ice to kick off the start of the NHL season. Now hockeyy’s back. Perhaps it’s back. You’re back too. Would AJ Greer ever be unwilling offered that opportunity by Nelino? I wouldn’t think so. No. Nazar with a one-touch lead for Terrain. The turnover though. Moving in. Lendell has room. shoots at the post. Reinhardt quickly to the rebound. Snapped on net save made with the glove by Knight. Off the quick snapper from Los. Last opportunities here and just a quick up in the neutral zone. Very good quick up and shot clean and test this future Hall of Fame goalender and Sergey Babroski. Now, one of the shots that didn’t register officially as a shot on net was that ringing wister off the post by Connor Baddard. Couldn’t clear the zone. close to Raine trying to keep it on side but McK takeaway. Ma a breakaway save by Brvski around McKaya who nearly took a Panthers turnover and put it in the net. Anton Lundell he hit a post of the first period as well. Nice outlet. Nazar off the one touch from Berusi across with Terravana. Feeds it to him. Shoots save Babski. No score it found the back of the net. Oh, it looked like Babroski may have gotten it with the blocker, but Terrain is able to sneak it home to tie the game at two. Quick exits out of the Dzone and it’s Tyler Batuzi board play. Great board play by him to just beat that transition and watch him feed the transition. And here’s Terrain who is a lefty on the left side, Nazar righty on the right side. Beautiful pass, even better finish. But this whole play was engineered by that quick exit and breakout. There really no padding, right? We want to turn your leg and that way the shin guard protection disappears as you could see. Marian across the line back door to the backhand save. Knight on for HGY. Spring pass by Marian. And here there it is. That little stop up the delay by Marian. And it’s a Connecticut native Spencer Knight. It is handled by Kulakov and it’s the length of the ice all the way around past Knight. The tri pass just wide of Knight right on the doorstep. Really good opportunity. Spencer Knight pushes off the post and gets just enough off of his arm. Banked in behind the net. Elad protects it. Bennett through center with speed across the line. Back hands one moving in front. Save made with the pad by Knight and Verhaggy drove Vette and Knight was able to get the left toe out and make a terrific save. HGY an outlet carried again by Bennett through center with Marshand on his left. Marian across the line. Drops it to Bennett. Bennett trying to feed it back to Marian. The intercept by Connor Murphy. Possible two-on-one the other way. Bard across the line. Bard the backhand to the forehand. Save made by Babroski. And it’s moved by Laferdy. Lobs one right wing side. Skated onto by Felino. Pokes it past Kulakov, but can’t work his way. Oh, the big defenseman. And a big collision behind the net. Rodriguez is having a tough night. Final minute of play in the second period as Colton dock the outlet. Some speed across the line. Gets a return. Saved by Barski. Kicked the left leg out. Wow. And was able to get in position. Big time split. And how about this pass by Carnabart. He puts it on a pillow for Doc who doesn’t get all but he gets enough. But it’s Sergey Babroski to the rescue with just Bennett and Brad Marsh. Start of the third period. We are deadlocked to two right on the doorstep. Spinama on the outlet by Jones. That shot off the blocker of Knight. 10 and 1/2 minutes to go in regulation time. Laperty guides it in. Forsling gets to the puck first. Softly off the end boards to himself. The outlet to Rodriguez. Center circle cross corner it goes. Leaning in Samavage out in front. Score. Tiptoe by Boquist. Out of midair from the Samoscavage feed. The Panthers have the lead. Harps on breakout to the Dzone. A perfectly executed one here for Paul Maurice’s Panthers. And then a little indirect play to speed. This is absolutely perfectly executed. And how about the hands by Boquist. It’s game one here in the National Hockey League. It’s playoff time in Major League Baseball. Centering pass ends up at the blue line and breaking back the other way. The Panthers through center. Verhagy on the backhand. Verhagy off the outside of the net. He got it back to the forehand and now it’s out to the neutral zone. Greer a steal. Gajovic moves in. Centering pass. Save made by Knight in behind the net. Checked by Vhagy. Moved by Bennett. Chipped to the far corner. Verhagy keeps it moving and escaping as Mare. Looking over his shoulder to see if he has support. He’s by himself. Shoots. Save is made by Knight. Close to Raymond. Hands one off. Reinhardt brings it across the line. Reinhardt dangles. Reinhardt shoots. Save made with the blocker by Knight. Wow. Stop by Renzale. He couldn’t keep it on side and Chicago will run out of time and the Panthers will win on opening night as the Rats fly here at Amaran Bank Arena. And Babroski [Music]

Frank Nazar opened the scoring on the new NHL season while Jesper Boqvist potted the game-winning goal for the Florida Panthers as they beat Chicago Blackhawks 3-2.

  1. Why didn't they just change the Washington Redskins to the Redhawks? That way, they could have kept the logo and, more importantly, the NFL would have had a memorial to Native Americans. They wanted to protect themselves from accusations of racism, but the fact that the NFL completely removed this memorial is, in my opinion, even more racist. Yes, sorry, this isn't the right place, but it just occurred to me when I saw the Blackhawks logo. And greetings from Berlin, I'm keeping my fingers crossed that your society will reunite.

  2. So nice watching Greer get boxed in the face, he's too used to sucker punching other players that he cant show up in an actual fight.

  3. Почему на заставке роликов канала SPORTSNET нет А.Овечкина ? Я вижу трех человек и один из них великий двухкратный неудачник Макдэвид😁🤣Why isn't A. Ovechkin on the SPORTSNET channel's intro? I see three people, and one of them is the great two-time loser McDavid😁🤣

  4. After Captain Barkov's ACL injury, I'm not expecting a 3-peat from Florida. They'll certainly make the postseason, but I don't see a 4th straight deep run.

Anyway, I'm happy for a new hockey season!
