3 BOLD Celtics Preseason Predictions | Garden Report Practice Update
Hard hat’s all about showing up to play hard, doing what it takes to win. If you want to cement legacy, win another. He’s your third center. You don’t want to pump him up too much, but it’s hard not to. This is maybe the most I’ve ever agreed with you. Hey, Bobby Manning here with a practice report from our back center before the Celtics head out to Memphis tomorrow. know Delo is headed out there as well. And I’m so excited to finally just see what this is going to look like. Every day we’ve heard about the vicious pace. It it reached even another level today. Jaylen talking about it. Here’s what he had to say about the pace that they’re going to be playing at this preseason and into the regular season. Yeah, it’s it’s intense, physical, intense pace. Um I think the coaching staff has done a good job of setting the the tempo and pace of of preseason. He’s probably been my hardest preseason I think I’ve I’ve had from a conditioning standpoint and a physicality standpoint, but that’s what we’re going to need this season. So, that’s the obvious one when we look ahead to Wednesday and what we want to see, but what are some other things we’re going to be watching for on Wednesday? I have a feeling yours is probably going to be Pritchard related. Yeah, I think looking ahead towards the preseason, he is definitely one of the most intriguing players on this roster. I think he’s going to start. Um, that’s my strong actually pretty strong inclination is that he’s going to be the starting point guard on this team. We’ll see how that pans out, but I think right now he it just makes sense from for a number of reasons from the fact that he’s here longterm uh defensively, playmaking wise, rebounding wise, like he has a little bit of an edge there. But again, I always I I don’t want to like be too too politically correct here, but like I always think that the starting line of discussion is a little overblown. The fact of the matter is I think he’s going to be one of like the top two scorers on this team. Um, and we’re going to see him shoulder heavy heavy responsibilities on offense. So, that’s what I anticipate. Obviously, he’s had big preseasons before, so it’s not gonna be mindboggling if he goes off for 30 in the first game of of preseason in Memphis because go up 30 Wednesday potentially. He could. I mean, yeah, I think obviously he’s capable of doing that and he’s we’ve, you know, we’ve seen that when he has higher shot attempts, he usually remains as efficient and I don’t think this Memphis team is going to be particularly good. They’re pretty short-handed right now. So, he absolutely could, but I am kind of curious to see what it looks like for, you know, if he plays all four preseason games, like what does it look like when he’s one of the primary scoring options on offense? Is he going to be the primary option sometimes? I mean, certainly, like if Jaylen’s sitting and, you know, there will be times maybe the Jaylen and Dererick are both sitting. I think he he might be. Um, the big question though is, and this is a question across the across the board, is we know with less talented players around you, you’re now higher up on the scouting report. So, if he’s the number two scoring option on the team, like who’s guarding him versus who was guarding him last year, and how much of a difference does that make? So, uh, he’s probably the number one player I’m most intrigued to see how he kind of plays off in this system. I mean, if there’s if there’s going to be a season where he Peyton Pritchard is an all-star, this is as good as any. So, obviously, I I sort of infamously or predicted that a couple years back, um, it certainly seems more plausible now than it did when I said it, but I I do think that there’s a pathway for that. you know, if they have a a really good season or a season above expectations, I think first of all, voters will be kind of like, oh, this team is really over over, you know, overdoing their own expectations, but then also if he’s one of the most important players, then he could be rewarded as such. So, Jaylen had some interesting thoughts, too, about the talent level this season today at practice. Here’s him talking about how they’re adjusting in that aspect. Yeah, I mean to be honest, I mean we’ve been spoiled to to some degree where we’ve been able to have a bunch of talented players come through which has made a lot of our jobs a little bit easier. You know, um this year is a little different. You know, what we lack in experience, we got to make up with size. I mean, we got to make up with speed and mentality. So, that’s fun as well, too. So, I’m looking forward to to this year setting the tone. Um it should be a different year, but it should be fun still. So, we’ll see a lot of those new faces, inexperienced guys playing here. I’m so curious to think, is there going to be a surprise starter here? I think I think back to Eay’s first year. Hern and Gomez started the first preseason game over Al Horford. I think Joe’s mixed in one here or there, too. So, you’re always looking for all right, who’s going to surprise people in terms of being in that starting lineup. And as you said, he’s not putting much stock into who he starts. So, I think that’s another thing a coach can do is just throw someone in there to, you know, mix everybody up. We talked to him today and I think it will be who surprises us on Wednesday. Josh Minot. I think he’s going to be in there on the wing. Someone in that regard. Like it could be Tilman, could be Buché. I think it’s going to be May not just to see how it looks, especially in this matchup. As you said, it’s a smaller Memphis team. They don’t need as much size out there against their current lineup. So, I think they’re going to try some rim protection stuff with Minot. I think they want to see how he fits in with some of the regulars and I think they actually look at him as a potentially key cog to their defensive attack this year. They need to generate room protection somehow and he actually has some of that in his game. So, I think my not might start at the three next to White Pritchard, uh, Kada and Brown on Wednesday. Is there anyone that pops into your mind who could be in uh the surprise starter territory? I think I I would lean more towards Sam Hower. I think at least early on we’re going to see the returners. Do you think they’ll go regular on Wednesday? I mean, who knows if that’s regular, but that’s what I’m I’m kind of anticipating that if I had to guess right now what their starting five looks like on opening night, it’s Derek White, Peyton Pritchard, Jaylen Brown, Sam Hower, and Amus Kada. Um I don’t think that’ll be their starting lineup at the end of the season, but right now will be back. Well, that too maybe. But also just in general, I think there’s going to be some changes. is like I think they’re going to try out different things and some of the new guys will maybe take a little while to acclimate, but once they do maybe they make more sense in that starting lineup, but I think right now there’s just a clear advantage for guys that really understand the system and understand the terminology and all those things. So that’s my inclination. But I’m curious to see because I do think Josh Min’s kind of flown under the radar in like media discussions and he might be the guy we’re talking about once we finally see this team and what they look like. And there’s a lot of, you know, there’s a lot of guys that are playing somewhat overlapping positions. you know, Jordan Walsh, Baylor Sherman, Josh a little bit. Obviously, they all they’re all different players, but you know, not all of these guys are going to play a substantial role this season and not all of them are going to play substantial minutes. And that’s one of the most intriguing questions around this team is like outside of Jason Tatum and potentially coming back and Sam Hower is going to play a big role in the wing, like we don’t really know who else is going to eat those minutes um alongside Jaylen Brown. So, that’s a that’s a big question for me for sure. The big question too is at center. It feels like it’s Kades to lose at this point, but there is a battle there. It doesn’t feel like that’s totally decided yet. Uh I’m obviously leaning him. I love where he’s at. Love what he showed over the summer. I think we could even see, you know, something like 20 and 10 from him in this game, especially going against Jock London and probably some wings flying over to center like Aldama from Memphis. So, this is a golden opportunity, I think, for him to have a massive game. But I know you’re intrigued by Luca Garza. Yeah, and again, I don’t think that it’s going to be just one. Like, I think both of those guys are going to get substantial opportunities this preseason, honestly, throughout the year. Like I think a lot of people are looking at it as like who’s going to answer the center question. By the way, the other day um or in your article rather, Buchchet said he’s playing more four wing minutes than center. So that’s another revelation that could point toward Garza being involved more. I we haven’t even talked about Chris Buchet, but I had a great a great one-on-one with him a couple days ago at the articles on Celtics blog, but he pretty much just talked about um exactly that that he has been playing more of those forward perimeter positions. He said he’s been guarding Derek White and Jaylen Brown at practice. So, not exactly what I envisioned when he first signed with the Celtics. No, I thought he might play some center. Yeah. So, he’s he’s not he’s preferably not a center. I mean, we’ll see if guys are playing a lot of position, but Luca Garza is a name. You mentioned Josh. Luca Garza, another Minnesota Timberwolves player who did not really play much and has not done a ton on the court to warrant like all this hype. Um, but we know that he can shoot at at his best and if he’s able to stretch the floor, like we know that Joe likes playing with a space five and if if he is consistently hitting, like that’s another advantage at the five by far in theory. Yeah. I mean, we’ll see how it how it actually plays out because obviously he hasn’t shot great in the NBA, but on a very small margins. Kada has not shot in the NBA really at all. Looks like he’s going to though, the way he’s shooting. Yeah, everybody’s practicing threes. That we know like that isn’t Someone asked me on Twitter today like you always post guys shooting threes. Like, how come you don’t post them shooting twos? after practice and it’s like they’re all just shooting threes after practice. But curious about Luca Garza for sure. Um we’ve heard a lot of guys praise his play so far at camp. Um and I think that he’s kind of out of sight right now, out of mind for a lot of fans, but if you come back here in a few weeks, I think people will be pretty excited about him. A lot of people have asked me who’s going to be my Luke this year. He’s on the list. I love him going back to my college days, but it’s going to be Kada. I’m on the Kada bandwagon to start this year. So I’m expecting big things from him and for him to run away with that center spot. Who are you looking for on Wednesday? It’s Celtics Grizzlies first preseason game for Boston coming up in Memphis. Noah will be out there covering the game for Celtics blog and CLNS and we’ll have a postgame show of course after that and all the preseason games coming up over the next week here as the Celtics approach two weeks from opening night for Noah Dela. I’m B Manning. This has been a practice report here from the Hourback Center.

There is a possibility that dwhite rises to an all star this season
Luv Payton but don’t like the idea of a point guard being the number 1,2 scorer. Like it best if he would be 3,4 scorer and 1st in assists,1st in steals while 1st in threes, third in minutes and we will be just fine all season
Best rotation long term….Dwhite, Simons, jb, Hauser, Queta with pp, Boucher being two of the best bench players in the entire nba for several years then minor and Garza with Tillman on occasion….jt comes back to move Hauser to off the bench and this team will have the best top 8 in the east
Noa is very attractive ❤❤❤
I warned yall. This team deserves to lose all its fans. The Boston Celtics are controlled opposition.
Aunque los entiendo mucho mejor . Se siente raro escucharlo con esas voces en español. Soy República Dominicana
not opposed to either simons or pritchard starting, either way they need scoring off the bench which both can provide

Payton is going to start! Take it easy…
Is She Payton Pritchard’s “ Side Chick “? She can’t actually believe Payton Pritchard is a Starting Point Guard, on a Good Team. But, if The Celtics make Pritchard, The Starting Point Guard, then They must be Tanking. But, if The Boston Celtics want to COMPETE THIS SEASON, then have this as Your Starters:
PG- Derrick White
SG-Anfernee Simons
SF-Jaylen Brown
PF-Chris Boucher
C-Neemias Quita
All these guys are gonna understand how Tatum shouldered all of the defensive pressure from other coaches
I HIGHLY doubt PP will be top 2 in scoring this year. I’d have JB, Simons, and DWhite all over him.
Who's in the starting line-up is overblown?
