Lakers Preseason PRACTICE Scene at Training Camp Day 4! | Marcus Smart & Kleber Practice + More!

See [Music] [Music] [Music] you [Music] Sorry. [Music] Here we go. Sorry. Five. Six. [Music] short [Music] down. I know. Okay. [Music] [Music] Oh no. Yeah. during the preseason of uh no games, what’s kind of the focus, getting back into the gym with the fellas? Just treating this week like training camp. That’s really what it is. Um you only have three days and then you have two games. You know, the you want to make sure there’s there’s at least enough put in that they can go play a basketball game and not play pickup. Uh this week is really more of this is our training camp. What’s the latest update with uh some of the guys that were hoping to ramp up this week? Um Marcus did most of practice uh including some live play. It was great to see him out there. Um Braun and and Luca just again modified mostly individual work. Um Maxi uh kind of kind of the same uh as them. Uh, and then Gabe, Gabe, uh, like Marcus participated in some live and and then uh, was out at the end. JJ, how much are you trying to install? Is it easy to do it when you got guys in and out? Uh, it’s not easy. No, it’s not easy to have guys injured. Uh, we we’ll do some installs. that today was uh you you play a couple games and it’s obvious on tape that you have to reinforce, teach, continue to just build the fundamentals. And so that’s what a lot of today was and and will be for the next couple days. We’ll have some some installs tomorrow, but um just get getting back to, you know, what I think most teams have, which is, you know, four or five practices and then then play a game. Is is Luca dealing with anything specific or is it just kind of a general rest from load management? [Music] None of your worries for you sarcastic. The bulk of your roster is the same from last season. Um, did you adjust kind of your overall offense and defense with the change of personnel or is it carryover in terms of like the philosophies or kind of the main things that you do on? No, I think when you have a like uh proof of concept, you know, where our team last year when when all those guys were healthy after the trade, I think we were 13 and four, had a top 10 offense and a top 12 defense or something like that. So, um you certainly are going to tweak things. Uh but there’s there’s a proof of concept and and some level of I don’t want to use the word success, but some level of functionality in the group and the philosophies. Um but you’re yeah, you’re always looking to tweak stuff during that sample size that you referred to. Obviously, it showed the success or the wins. Do you feel like there was 100% like comprehension at that point? You feel like maybe you could if there is more time for comprehension, you can get even Yeah, I I think the fluidity of our schemes and coverages, they executed pretty well. Um I know that, you know, offensively for us during that those 17 games, we had the number one shot quality in the league. So, um you know, you’re not going to revamp your offense if you’re creating good shots, but you’re certainly going to tweak stuff. And I I think having, you know, it sucks that certain guys are kind of in and out of camp, but the reality is we do have some level of continuity with with our main guys. Did anybody text you while around tiring? You guys are imagine. Did anybody text you? We all knew it was an ad, right? I got a lot of texts. Uh, I’m sure. I’m sure I got some texts. Yeah. Any fun ones? No. I mean, I think most people that text me are also aware that it’s probably gonna happen. So, it wasn’t Nobody was freaking out. You mentioned Mark, you mentioned Mark participated. How did How did Smart look like? How was he moving and that and just uh getting back in the action? Yeah, he he was awesome. Uh he was awesome. He he um I think given the workload of today, I was impressed that he was able to sustain his level of intensity for as long as he did. Last season we talked a lot about margins trying to watch. You want me to elaborate on that? [Music] [Applause] Like what is this? [Music] pretty high. She is very she she believes everything should obviously had the world by uh you know by hold for whenever he released it whatever time he this morning obviously was thinking he was retiring that’s all as well as he wanted to the first game I didn’t think he took bad shots thought all the shots were good. They all look good. Uh like he said, you know, some of them got them maybe, but uh I don’t mean that. But no, it’s just uh seems to become a really good player. Uh we went golf the other day and start uh number one and I was just like, “Uh, I need to let you know you’ve been in preseason and before that you’ve been, you know, one of the better players.” Uh on the floor almost every day. So, continue to do that. You know, he’s a good kid. Good head on his shoulders. Is all about the right stuff and, you know, just wants to compete better. So, thank you. And yeah, Luca and all that. Everybody, you know, we can’t we can run the whole, you know, uh, whole game. So, yeah, we we’re going to see how we go. How is your relationship with, uh, Luca kind of developed in the chemistry between you guys? How would you describe it? Yeah, he’s he’s, you know, He’s fine, you know. He’s just being around, you know, we always mess around each other. Um, but yeah, I think uh for him, you know, I I always like forget that he’s younger than me. It’s crazy, you know. He’s like 25, right? 26. Yeah, I’m 27. So, but yeah, he been in the league for a while, you know. He he be around a lot, you know, longer than me, you know. He teach me a lot of stuff, you know. He he want he always want to communicate with me about you know how what what do you want me to do you know being on the floor you know when he’s doing this and that what so uh those kind of stuff and then and we also you know talk about fun stuff you know some random stuff you know so what’s an example of something random I don’t know we talk about you know his country Selia you know he loves Selia music so you know we always talk about how bad Selia music is and I always listen afro beats so you know he always chanting you said the offer beats is bad. So trying to compete kind of I mean we have a lot of leaders, you know, everybody kind of covers different categories. You know, we got Braun and Luke are kind of the vocal leaders. Uh me and Marcus as far as defense and and some guys just like AR and Gabe are just lead by example, you know, being on time, you know, coming to show to work every day. U you know, helping a teammate out. So we have a lot of leaders and veterans in their own right. So, I think that uh that’s just going to make us a good team, you know, guys being able to everybody being able to pitch in and say what they got to say. Um taking constructive criticism and u you need that dynamic in order to be a great team. So I think we got a good balance to make sure that

  1. Kleber stood out to me. But Marcus Smart taking those circus shots seems like a subliminal message that says this is all show. Lakers ain't for real they're just for theater. And that subliminal message is obvious in the way they play. No neal athletism and they work too hard for shots. It seems the only way they score is of close sht, hard fought lay ups, and occasional 3 and mid range. It's pathetic. Hopefully, Luka and Bron change all that, and this team begins to look like the rest of the league.
