Hopefully this doesn’t bite us in the ass. I’m so happy for him though!

  1. It’s the best for Arty. I’ll follow him with love his whole career, but the Canucks are too deep goaltending wise, and he would just waste away on Abbotsford.

  2. Regardless of if it “bites us” or not, it was the correct decision at the time. Banking on Silovs finding his game at the NHL level would have been irresponsible with Lanks and Demko on the roster. We had to stick with our strength and the 2 guys who have shown they can perform at the top level. Will always cheer for Arty though – just glad he didnt go to some insufferable team.

  3. Happy for Silovs! He deserved the shutout, but tbh he wasn’t tested much at all all game. He probably made like 2-3 legit saves, the rest were Rangers hitting him in the crest. It appears that the Rangers are in a major scoring slump right now.

  4. I wanna see him become an all timer even if its not with us lowkey. He’s just so likeable

  5. It will bite us. In a salary cap league, it makes zero sense to invest 13.5 M in your goaltending when you could’ve have Silovs at league minimum.

  6. Thank Jim Rutherford we have the Vancouver-Pittsburgh pipeline🫡 Always a pleasure doing business with them. We averted the worst case scenario of losing him to Edmonton.

  7. Happy for him and i hope he does well (unless against us).

We locked up 2 goalies and we dont have room for him anymore so i do think trading him was the right move. Either lose him for nothing (claimed via waivers) or at least get some asset back.

People may get mad for extending demko and lanky but i do feel they gives us the best chance to win these next few years compare to arty with either one of them. With Hughes contract coming up I rather get a chance to have Hughes stay than betting on a team few years down the line without Hughes.

  8. Happy for the guy but it was the right move in the moment and if he turns out great at least it’s in the other conference.

  9. There’s nothing wrong with this. The Universe is balanced. We once robbed them for No. 19

  10. Honestly Arty going to an eastern conference team and being their starter is a win-win. We had two NHL goalies already, one being a vezina runner up and the other being a national team goalie in his own right. What a blessing of a champagne problem, and I’m so happy for Arty and proud of him that he’s number 1 for the pens. Nothing but love for my Latvian king, and I hope we see him in the finals and does us a solid and chokes to deliver us another clutch victory cup 😅

  11. As a Canucks and Penguin fan this has worked out great for me! ❤️ hope the Pens don’t fuck him over.

  12. Its even better because its against rangers with Miller as captain 🤣

    Great job arty!!!!

    ITS AN ARTY PARTY YALL!!!

  13. Of course we knew it would bite us. Unfortunately tho, Silovs simply didn’t fit in the system. Lankinen on a fresh contract with a Vézina calibre goalie getting back to health. It was the best move for both parties. I hope he becomes a star because he worked hard for it. Let the arty party commence in Pittsburgh this guy is going to be a star

  14. Silovs performance and career will have no effect on the Canucks because they made the right decision. Going with Demko and Lankinen is a move you always make.

We’ve tried Silovs and Lankinen to start last year and it didn’t work. You don’t do it again and hope for the best. Sure, Silovs was going to improve, but it wasn’t worth the risk for the Canucks when we need to put the best team forward. And that’s what they did.

  15. I would much rather see this than him being claimed off the wire by the oil for nothing.

I feel very Happysad, but I will always remember his playoff run and his bag of ice crown he would wear after games.

I know he will have a great career, just not with us unfortunately.

  16. IF you look at the ages, it’s terrible people management. They should have kept Silovs and let Demko go.

  17. He had his chance with the starter role last year. It was his to lose and he played terribly, and then Lankinen stole it from him
