  1. Wow! This is huge, I actually had a bet (with myself) that the external hire would be fruitless and this dude was gonna get the job.

Seems they might be sticking to their guns to get outside voices…

  2. While I understand many of you refuse to hope, Walker Monforts decision making has been everything we have asked for so far. He’s actually cleaning house and seems to recognize that his dad’s strategies were terrible.

  3. I’m very cautiously optimistic that this season is turning out to be a turning point. Seeming like we’re realizing we’ve got to change how things are done and are gonna start the process of catching up to everyone else.

  4. Apparently, Zack wasn’t Christian enough for Monfort. I want to congratulate Casey Treat on his new role as GM of the Rockies.

  5. Man I really thought that article was going in a different direction and I was about to be mad that they were promoting internally again

  6. TIL 2006-2025 is 21 years. Although, the Rockies have never been good at math since they celebrated the 25th year in the 26th season.

Or maybe I’m the dummy. Totally possible.

  7. lol do I want a good baseball team or cheap tickets? I guess paying 150+ for nose bleeds when we win a World Series will be worth it

  8. Clean house.

Whoever comes into this and takes over as Head of Baseball Operations has to be able to hire a GM, and then working down through the organization. Entire areas of scouting and analytics need to be built basically from scratch. All of this before, one even can get to the needs of the team on the field.

Basically, it is like if this were a brand new franchise instead of one that lets people hang around for 20years when most of those are not good times.

I hope Walker Monfort is going this route, with an added realization that he and his dad don’t know baseball in a modern sense.I hope that they are getting outside help with the search for a Head of Baseball Operations. Because I really have wished they’d sold the team based on past on field performance.

Maybe things have hit bottom. But being the Rockies one can’t be sure.

  9. Boy, I bet Assistant GM, Colorado Rockies probably doesn’t look great on a resume.

  10. I bet you they have a candidate who they’re working to hire and he has a couple guys he wants for those positions, instead of the clear dweebs who’ve been running this team for the past 2 decades
