BREAKING NEWS: Dallas Mavericks Sign ATHLETIC 6’8″ Point Guard…

We have breaking news as the Dallas Mavericks are yet again adding even more names to the ever growing list of point guards. And with the absence of Kyrie Irving, why not? Let’s add even one more player to the possible list of point guards that we could go into the next season with. And just yesterday, the news broke out that the Dallas Mavericks went out and got 6 foot8 free agent guard Dolano Banton, who did spend time playing with the Toronto Raptors, the Boston Celtics, as well as the Portland Trailblazers alongside Dennis Smith Jr. But the one problem that we have is that we currently don’t have any roster spots as well as we’re past the date to wave any player. But there could be a way that Delano Banton finds his way onto the roster. So in this video, we’re going to take a look at Delano Banton, see how well he actually played last season. Could he help the Dallas Mavericks in some capacity? As well as what do we need to do in order to keep him? But how’s it going everybody? My name is Marcel Martin. This is Mavericks Digest, bringing you the latest news on everything Mavericks related. And before we get started with today’s video, we’re currently sitting at 21,77 subscribers. I just want to say thank you guys so much for all the love and support over the last two years. But if you want to be up to date on everything Mavericks related, as we’re only about a week and a half away from the start of the season, make sure you subscribe. But the Dallas Mavericks, as we all know, will be without Kyrie Irving for at least half the season. And at the time of recording, we have several point guards that could easily help fill that role until Kyrie Irving returns. We have D’Angelo Russell. We also still have Jaden Hardy, but we also have Brandon Williams. We have Dante Exom, as well as a couple other players in other positions that could easily cover down. We saw Cooper Flag bring the ball down. Look fairly good. And we also know that Naji Marshall, our own little Swiss Army knife, can kind of do a little bit of everything. But the Dallas Mavericks said, “Yeah, that sounds good, but let’s go out and get another point guard.” In the report that came out just yesterday via Mark Stein said that the Mavericks say they have signed former Blazers guard Delano Banton. He followed that up by saying Banton had no shortage of overseas interest but held out for an NBA opportunity. Dallas’s roster is realistically full, but as with Jeremiah Robinson Earl, it gets Banton’s G-League rights. Dallas is also still working to obtain Dennis Smith Jr.’s G-League rights from the Bucks. So for all those wondering about Denmouth Jr., will he find his way on to the team? Kind of sort of in some vein. And with Delano Banton, if we have their G-League rights, then they’ll travel with the team. We can call them up. That can still happen. But is Delano Banton the right call? I mean, we already have a lot of point guards. We have Brandon Williams, which a lot of people are excited for. D’Angelo Russell showed a lot of promise in our first game of preeason. We also have Dante Exom, who still seem to be missing, but we have guards. So, what is it about Delano Banton that makes the Mavericks want to go out and get him? Well, I know as a former watcher of the D of, I’m sorry, of the Toronto Raptors, Donald Banton has a lot of promise. He plays with a very high motor, able to run up and down the court with no breaks whatsoever. He plays at a very fast pace, and with the new flow offense that the Dallas Mavericks have, that could fit in perfectly. He’s not the best shooter, but he does have good court vision. He has the right length to be a good defender, but he really hasn’t reached that just yet. He has about four years of NBA experience and he still hasn’t unlocked his full potential, but we all know that that could easily be reached with the Dallas Mavericks. If we take a look right here, Delano Banton over the last few years, his numbers, they’ve improved in some places. The efficiency is really what you want to see. But in that last season, I’m sorry, two seasons ago with the Portland Trailblazers where he averaged 16 points per game, about four rebounds, three assists. He did shoot 40% from the floor on about 15 attempts per night, as well as only 31% from three on six attempts per night. The efficiency is not there. Now, last year, the efficiency definitely improved from the three. He was shooting 32% on about half of those attempts, but it was the Portland Trailblazers. They’re a lottery team. They allowed someone like Delano Banton to just get every shot that he wants, go out there and do whatever. And unfortunately, his numbers suffer because of it. But if we take a look at an article that was posted just the other day by the Smoking Cuban, Maverick’s newest signing could quietly replace injury riddled fan favorite. So let’s see what this article is all about. He goes on to say that the Dallas Mavericks made a slight edit to edit to their roster on Tuesday afternoon as they signed Delano Banton to a training camp deal, releasing guard Matthew Cleveland in the process. Banton is a wiry 6’8 guard with a pretty dynamic handle, but a lack of strength and efficiency from outside have limited him from breaking into a consistent role from an NBA team. However, Banson could be the perfect player to replace Dante Exom in Dallas, given they are both bigger body guards that can use their length and foot speed to their advantage at this at the point of attack. But B is only 25 years old and is far less injury riddled compared to Dante. And as we all know, Dante Exom, he’s got a new injury every other day where he’ll be out for a few weeks, out for a few months. We never really know. This time last season, he broke his hand and what didn’t come back till after the trade deadline. And at the time of this recording, there’s some weird thing going I’m all over the place. There’s a weird thing going on with Dante XM where Jason Kid when he was asked about Dante XM, he replied saying, “He’s just out. That’s all I can tell And yes, Jason K, we understand you’re not a doctor, but you are the head coach and you should have some idea of what’s going on with these players. I wasn’t really for the signing of Dante X. And yes, when he’s healthy, he’s amazing. The defense is great. He’s a good point guard. He can shoot. He can score. He can do all those things that you need from a player in a smaller role. I understand that. But you have to be available in order to do it. Delano Banton who to a similar degree can be like a Dante Exom just if you hone in on those skills he’s already further along in his own development where it’s not like you’re starting from square one he has great foot speed he’s a very fast player plays at a very fast pace he’s 6’8 with a very long wingspan so the defense can be there especially with our new identity of defense winning championships Banton could fit right in if he were to buy in as far as the efficiency and scoring that’s going to have to improve for sure in That could be the reason why he struggled to find a team amongst the NBA. But he is 25. He still has potential to be a good player. It just takes a team to bring it out of him. But if we continue with the article, Delano Banton could be the perfect Exom replacement one day. Goes on to say that XM hasn’t been healthy for most of camp and missed Dallas’s first preseason game. Though he practiced on Sunday for the Mavericks, so hopefully he isn’t dealing with anything major and can and can return for Dallas’s next preseason game versus the Charlotte Hornets on Saturday. If Exom continues to miss time in preseason, though, this could provide an opportunity for Banton to supplement e supplement exom in the minds of some Dallas coaches. So, we’ve learned from Jason Kidd and a couple other coaches that this is a competition between now and the night before opening night. Every single Mavericks player is fighting for a spot. Whether you’re on the roster or you’re on a two-way contract, an exhibit 10 contract, and of course, Delano Banton as well as Dennis Smith Jr. were really just trying to get their G-League rights. But we know that with Kyrie Irving being out, there’s no real timetable to return. Yes, the more guards, the better. If players are injured, we will have reserves that we can call up from the G-League or just bring them off the bench in order to fill in those holes so we can keep winning games and staying competitive. From the other day playing against Oklahoma City Thunder, although it was their benches bench players, the Dallas Mavericks showed flashes of greatness that we have a new identity. We play at a different pace. We play a different style of basketball. Delano Bannon could very much well fit that role. Like I said, he’s 6’8. He has good court vision. He actually has good basketball IQ. Sometimes he can play reckless, but one of the best things about Delano Banton is the fact that he loves to run the floor. He runs at a pace. He pushes in transition. Whether the rest of the team is following him or not, he is running down the court at full speed every chance he gets. And that could pay dividends for this Dallas Mavericks as we’re trying to fade away from our old way of playing and usher in a new era of Mavericks basketball. But the article does follow up by saying it’s in it’s extremely doubtful Banson will perform well enough for Dallas to trade away Exom before the season starts as his only viable path to a rush spot without Dallas making a trade would be to surpass fellow guard Brandon Williams. But he’s definitely a player the Mavericks could try and keep around in hopes of developing him to be XM’s replacement for next season and beyond especially since XM will be a free agent again next summer. Banton averaged nearly 17 points while playing almost 30 minutes per game during a third a 30game stretch for the Portland Trailblazers in the 2023 24 season. So it’s clear he can replicate some of Exom’s downhill production and he doesn’t have a bad floater or in between game either. Banson probably isn’t as a stout defender as Exom, but he has the length to be a ve to be very good on that end, especially against smaller guards. All in all, Donno Bansson is a very exciting and interesting pickup for the Dallas Mavericks. I hope he actually gets some minutes during preseason. so fans can see what a younger Exom might look like. I mean, obviously Dante Exom, when healthy is a good choice for the Dallas Mavericks, but but that is his biggest problem. He isn’t healthy. Even Jason Kid says he’s just out. There’s something going on with him. He’s kind of practicing, but in my opinion, the best course of action is to keep Delo Banton in any shape or form or capacity. Find a way to cut ties with Dante Exom. And even if you don’t want Delano Banton, there’s Dennis Smith Jr., there’s other players that could get more minutes. I just feel like if the Dallas Mavericks are being serious this season about staying competitive and wanting to try and fight for a championship, we need everybody healthy. We need players available, players that are ready to buy in. And we can’t wait around for role players to get healthy. It’s one thing when Kyrie Irving’s hurt or if AD gets hurt or Cooper Flags out, those are your star players, players that you depend on. They get injured, you got to just cover down with the next man up and just keep winning. But when your backup backup backup players are getting hurt, there’s no time to waste a rush spot on somebody that isn’t going to produce. I mean, even Dwight Pal, no hyperbole, no joke, so serious right now. Even Dwight Pal looked very good in that first preseason game that shows the one guy that most people have already written gone that shouldn’t even a lot of people feel like he shouldn’t be here. And Dwight Pal can go out there and easily put up some decent numbers in a very limited role. But let me know what you think in the comments section down below. Do you think Delano Band would be a great fit for the Dallas Mavericks? Do you think that we should find a spot for him to join the main squad or do you still have faith in Dante XM that he can turn things around and become an asset for the team? 1. I would easily get rid of Hardy and put this guy in I don't want another Jaden Re-Tardy production with his ball hogging for another year but Blazers are dumb for waiving this guy.

  2. If nobody tells you, what is going on with Dante, then probably, because it's none of your business, and there will be reasons, why that is.
I think, its about time, you start wondering, why your channel is not growing so fast, and I would argue, its because you are talking so much BS, its off-putting.

  3. Fun fact about this guy. He holds the NBA record for most missed 3s in a game without a make. In the final game of the 2024 season for the Blazers he went 0/15 from deep. We signed an NBA record holder

  4. That first preseason game was against an OKC team that didn't play 12 players. Basing anything off that game is ridicoulous. OKC had one guy who was 6'9" and the rest were between 6'1" and 6'6".
