[Simmons] “Giannis ONLY has 8 playoff series wins. I’m gonna put that in perspective: Lebron has 41, Duncan had 35, Kobe had 33, Shaq had 32, Durant has 22, Kawhi: 19, Tatum: 15, Jokic has 10. Giannis is 8-8 and I think he’s looking at this saying ‘I just want to be in the playoffs past April 30th’”

  1. Why are they throwing Jokic in when he’s barely higher

This is kind of a disingenuous stat, we’ve just been unlucky with injuries since the chip

  2. Tbf alot of that was Gianni’s own fault. He missed big chunks of the playoffs in 2023 and 2024. In 2023 specially that was a huge missed opportunity considering the Bucks were favourites to make it out of the conference.

  3. Im ngl those numbers for the older players are way smaller than i thought they’d be

Some other interesting players and stats: jordan won 30 series, steph won 25, harden won 15. russell won only 28 despite winning 11 championships

If you count the 2019 blazers series for kd when he was injured he’s won 23

  4. 2022 no khris,
    2023 no Giannis,
    2024 no Giannis,
    2025 no dame,
Yes blame the bucks ! But when we talk about the 2021 finals people are quick to bring but there was no Kyrie in the 2nd round. Lmao pathetic

  5. Luka has 5 and he had to go against Prime Kawhi/PG 2 years as a 21 year old with Tre Burke and Boban Marjanovic playing BIG minutes.

He could conceivably pass Giannis THIS year.

  6. Didn’t Giannis say that he want all the European stars to represent the big markets? Winning is part of the reason why he handpicked Knicks but don’t think that’s the sole reason.

  7. A lot of people in here that didn’t listen to the podcast and missed the context. Bill isn’t using playoff series wins as some type of barometer on who is better, but rather pointing out that Giannis, as a competitor, could consider wanting to be a part of meaningful basketball more often as the crux for wanting out.

  8. only 8 playoff series wins for someone his age is insane. bucks have had some good rosters

  9. I was about to tell Simmons to fuck right off and then read the whole 2 sentences. Wild how short people’s attention spans are that they can’t even make it that far. He wasn’t hating on Giannis, he was saying his rosters haven’t been good enough.

  10. So much missing context but the point is that giannis should team up with more superstars.

  11. I don’t mean to shit on Giannis cuz I really am a fan of him.

But he is lucky AF he won that chip in 21 cuz it’s doing A LOT of shielding from criticism

  12. He’s been uniquely unlucky when it comes to injuries on the roster. He’s basically never had his #2 option for an entire playoffs.

The Bucks have also really struggled with coaching during his tenure. And part of that problem is that Giannis alone is enough to win a bunch in the regular season, but coaches really get pressure tested in the playoffs and literally every one he’s had has proven to be a bum when it comes to making playoff adjustments.

On top of that, arguably, the best team he’s ever been a part of was the 2020 team, and they seemingly came into the bubble uniquely under-prepared and lost to a Heat roster that they were way better than because of it.

  13. To be fair, the Bucks have had terrible injury luck since they won the championship in 2021.

In 2022, the Bucks were up 3-2 before losing the series to the Celtics without Middleton (he got injured in the 1st round).

In 2023, Giannis got injured in the 1st quarter of game 1 against the Heat in the 1st round.

In 2024, Giannis got injured right before the playoffs and didn’t play.

In 2025, Dame missed the last 14 games of the regular season with deep vein thrombosis, tried to come back in the playoffs and tore his Achilles.

That’s 4 years in a row where either Giannis or his #2 were injured during the playoffs or right before. That’s just awful luck.

  14. This is the year b/c Tatum and Hali are out for the year. Jimmy is in the west conference.
