Coming up on the show, we have a NerS trade update from general manager John Lynch. We’re going to get to the latest buzz around San Francisco making a trade to improve this defensive line and improve their pass rush. Before we do all of that, don’t forget to support the channel and subscribe for Non-Stop Ner coverage. I’m bringing you shows every single day year round. News, analysis, takeaways, reactions, rumors, we do it all. Live shows, watch parties, hop on board. We’re 173 people away from 176,000 subscribers. Let’s reach that milestone with this video. So, this is why I think the 49ers need to make a trade going into the NFL trade deadline. And the deadline after week nine going into week 10. Here we are as I record this show on Wednesday, October 8th, about to embark on week six. So, there’s still some time for San Francisco to make a move here. And how about this start that the Niners are off to? 4- one. And they’ve won three road games. They’ve won a bunch of close games. And they’ve been able to be highly competitive, looking like one of the best teams in the NFC with a rash of injuries. It really is a testament to the coaching that we’ve seen from Kyle Shanahan and Robert Salah. And so when you accomplish all of this so far this year in the manner that the Ners have done it with all of these marquee players who have been out and reinforcements on the way, San Francisco has shown the men upstairs, Jed York, John Lynch, this front office that they can compete. I also think this NFC is wide open. There are a lot of really good teams inside the conference, but do we know going into week six who the best team in the NFC is in that upper echelon grouping? It’s definitely the Detroit Lions, the Philadelphia Eagles, but who’s to say the Niners aren’t the third best team in the NFC. Who’s to say that they can’t compete with Philadelphia or Detroit? Then the other teams that you throw into the mix, the Green Bay Packers, the Washington Commanders, and I think that the ners can compete with any of those aforementioned teams. The Buccaneers have to be in that conversation. Good litmus test for San Francisco in week six going on the road to play Tampa here on Sunday. And so the point here being is that the NFC is wide open and the NerS I think can be a factor here in 2025 with a young ball club which also includes a lot of players who are battle tested and have played a lot of big games for San Francisco. This defense is also much further along than what we anticipated for this juncture of the season. I always said at the end of the year, the defense is going to be a lot better than they are earlier in the season. But statistically, this defense has been one of the top units in the National Football League. And the offense has been okay. We’ve certainly seen some moments from the offense. They need to get better running the football. The offensive line needs to play better, although that’s a personnel issue. They need to do a better job of converting and capitalizing in the red zone with drives that result in touchdowns, not field goals. But the good news is reinforcements are coming the likes of George KD, Brandon Aayuk, and hopefully soon Ricky Pearl and Jawan Jennings to the defense specifically because obviously that has to do with the side of the ball that we’re talking about on the program here today. What Robert Salah has done is amazing. You lose Nick Bosa and obviously it’s impacted the pass rush, but you have a bunch of young players who are playing well. It looks as though San Francisco has crushed this 2025 draft, but you’ve also got a lot of new faces on defense. Yet, this defense has been phenomenal to start the year. And at times, it’s really bailed out this Niners offense. You look at how the Niners stack up on both sides of the pill. First, offensively, 21.2 points per game. That ranks 22nd among the 32 teams. They are moving the ball, so that’s a good sign. 375 plus yards per game. That’s fifth. Yards per play kind of average. 5.41 17th. They’ve lacked some explosive plays, but this is also by design because Kyle Shanahan and M. Jones have thrown a lot of short passes and not a lot of passes downfield. They’ve been good on third downs, fifth in the NFL there with a conversion rate of 45.7%. And undoubtedly, they need to improve in the red zone. 42.1% red zone touchdown scoring percentage. That’s 28th in the NFL. That’s not sustainable. But look at what they’ve accomplished on defense so far. Sixth in points per game at 19.6, 15th in yards per game, 10th in yards per play at 5.1, the fifth best third down defense in the NFL, the eighth best red zone defense in the NFL. Far cry from what this Niners defense was doing last year when Nick Sorenson was in over his skis. And what an upgrade it’s been going from Sorenson to Salah. Now, with all that being said, without Nick Bosa, who is one of the best overall players in the NFL, one of the best defenders in the NFL, and a game-changing player week in and week out when he’s on the field, this Niners pass rush without him the last two full games has kind of been non-existent. And the Sners defense might be playing well right now, they can’t last that way for the long haul, for the foreseeable future, for the rest of the year. And so that’s why I think San Francisco needs to make a move to improve their pass rush because you look at the pass rush production by week. In week one, 10 pressures, one sack, two hits. Nick Bosa closed the game. Week two, Bos also played well. Bryce Huff had the game ender. 22 pressures, three sacks, two quarterback hits. Week three, Bosa went out early, but still the Niners had 22 pressures of Kyler Murray, one sack and three hits. But look at the production the last two games without Bosa for the entirety of the ball game. Right? Week four against the Jags, five pressures, zero sacks, zero hits. They had zero sacks, zero hits in a game for the first time since 2015. And then in week five against Matthew Stafford and the Rams for a lot of that game, it looked as though he was playing seven on seven. Not good. And the Niners did get 16 pressures, but only had one sack and one quarterback hit. And so when you’ve seen this pass rush lacking, John Lynch is not a dummy. John Lynch knows that the Niners need to make a move or moves in order to increase the pass rush production because right now you’re hanging on by a thread and you’re playing with fire. You’re playing a scary game of football and it’s also not fair to ask your back end to have to hold up like that because over the long term it can’t, right? So, how can you, if you’re John Lynch, watch that Niners win against the Rams? How spirited they were, how much heart they played with, the guts that they showed, how they put their balls on the table, how they were short-handed when they beat a legitimate team and not believe in this ball club. And I think John Lynch now does believe in this ball club. And here’s what he had to say about San Francisco making a trade. As a fan, you always want your team to be allin. And so, Niner fans have to be very excited with what Lynch said here. You’ve got to earn the right. It’s probably talked about more in baseball. Do you earn the right to motivate people to go acquire people? So, that means we’ve got to keep playing good football so that this guy who we trade for could be the guy who makes a difference. That’s well said by John Lynch. And if the Niners continue to win, if they continue to play well, if they continue to show that they can be competitive and perhaps win the NFC West and be contenders in the NFC, I think it signals that the NerS will make a big-time trade because again, they have to here. And you look at the Ner’s upcoming schedule. It’s going to be a difficult game going up against a Buccaneers team that I think is one of the best teams in the NFL. You’re also on the road and we’ll see if M. Jones plays. Hopefully he does. We’ll see if Ricky Pierce saw Jawan Jennings play. But look, they beat the Rams with the bunch of backups. What a job that the Niners did last Thursday, right? So, you go on the road week six against the Bucks. You win that game. My gosh, you’re five and one. You’re sitting pretty. But then you have a winnable game at home against the Falcons on Sunday Night Football. You have a winnable game on the road against a Texans team that has been pretty mediocre to bad this year. You go on the road to play the Giants. Got to win that game. And then you play the Rams again. You showed with a bunch of backups. You can compete with Los Angeles. After that, you’re on the road against the Cardinals. They’re reeling right now. Three straight L’s. All of those losses coming on game-winning field goals that happened as the clock expired. Jonathan Ganon just got fined 100K for making contact with De Marcado because he fumbled out of the end zone. Week 12, you play the Panthers on Monday Night Football. Should be able to win that game. Week 13 on the road against the Browns. Jim Schwarz has always had Kyle Shanahan’s number, but you should win that game. No excuses. You have your bye-week and week 14. That gives this trade acquisition time to get acclimated with this defense. Week 15, you have the Titans at home. Should win it. Week 16 on the road against the Colts. That game more difficult now on Monday Night Football than we thought going into the year, but I think San Francisco is better. You host the Chicago Bears on Sunday Night Football in week 17. Another game that you can win and you already beat Seattle. That’s going to be the regular season finale and the NFC West could come down to that game and you’re going to want a star pass rusher on the field against that Seahawks team, which is why it’s so important to make a move. Now, Eric Williams, NFL insider for Fox Sports, also reported this. League sources I spoke with pointed to the Jags, the Niners, the Rams, Bills, Seahawks, Patriots, and Eagles as possible teams who will be active at November’s trade deadline. Teams like the Eagles, Rams, Niners, and Seahawks have shown a willingness to be aggressive in previous years at the deadline, and those teams are also in the top half of the league in terms of salary cap space. This has been a misnomer for a lot of fans out there. They keep saying, “Chase, we can’t make a trade. We don’t have any cap space.” The Niners are top five in cap space right now. So, they can make a move. Now, coming up next, who could the Niners go out and acquire to help this team along the defensive line. Stay tuned for that. Some really intriguing trade options. As far as some trade targets for San Francisco, obviously this list is pretty fluid because it all comes down to which teams are going to falter, which teams are going to continue to lose games, which teams could reverse fortune, reverse tide, and end up winning games, which teams will be buyers and sellers going into the deadline. Obviously, I’ve talked a lot about Trey Hendrickson here on the show. He is a trade target that makes a lot of sense for San Francisco because the Bengals are bad. They just traded for Joe Flacco. I don’t think they’re going to survive without Joe Burrow until December. And he wanted a long-term deal. He didn’t get it. And so, I think that makes him expendable because clearly the Bengals don’t think he’s a part of their long-term plans. There was no player in 2023 and 2024 across the entire league who had more sacks than Hendrickson. 17 and a half the last two years going into 2025. The quarterback hit numbers the last four years also phenomenal. 3625 24-27. He can win with the bull rush. He can win with power. He plays the game with the relentless non-stop motor. And I think that he could eat in this 49ers defense in this wide nine under Robert Salah and Chris Kerak. And if you sign him to a contract extension and Nick Bosa comes back, either he, Bosa or Mel Williams can all play together because they can play defensive end and they can play defensive tackle. He had a really good game against the Lions on Sunday and he was able to increase his numbers across the board. Overall PFF grade this year of 86.5. That ranks 11th among 169 qualifying edge rushers. His pass rush grade 90.3. One of the best technical sound pass rushers in football. Ninth is where that ranks among all players at the position. His run defense grade not bad. 62.6. That ranks 70th. He has 21 pressures and four sacks so far this year. Of note, PFF doesn’t count half sacks. And so the Bengals have a lastditch effort to try to remain competitive. And what I mean by that is that they have benched Jake Browning, who was awful the last three starts, and they acquired Joe Flacco, who is going to start after being acquired on Tuesday against the Green Bay Packers on Sunday. And if Joe Flacco ends up winning games, maybe they don’t become sellers at the deadline. If they continue to lose games, that increases the likelihood, in my opinion, that Hendrickson gets dealt. As for Jeffrey Simmons, this is one of the top interior defensive linemen in the game who can also play a little bit of defensive end. He did a little bit of that this past Sunday against Arizona. And for a long time, he’s been one of the best defensive tackles in football behind the likes of Chris Jones. He’s been an allp pro. He’s been a multi-time pro bowler. He’s not quite the player who he once was and he is a little bit highly paid, but he is under contract if you want to continue to have him in the mix with this ball club. And he’s highly disruptive. And with a player like this who hasn’t been able to play a lot of meaningful football, I think a change of scenery being in a playoff hunt can really bring the best out of a player like Jeffrey Simmons. And this year he is playing really, really well for one of the worst teams in the NFL. Arguably the worst overall PFF grade of 82.5 that ranks ninth among 186 defensive tackles. He has a pass rush grade of 90.8. That’s second at the position. Run defense grade just okay. He is more of a pass rushing defensive tackle. But you also drafted players in Alfred Collins and CJ West who are better run stoppers. Jordan Elliott is a better run stopping defensive tackle than he is a pass rusher. And you just need to increase your pass rush as a collective unit. Simmons also has 24 pressures. That’s number one at the position. He has 15 hurries. That’s also number one. And he has the most sacks among defensive tackles with four. As for Max Crosby, I think the Raiders should trade him. And I think that Max Crosby should demand a trade. This Raiders team is an absolute joke and they are nowhere close to winning. And for Crosby, he’s wasting his football career away with Las Vegas. He’s not able to play meaningful football. I want to see this guy play for a playoff level team considering the hustle that we see, the grit, the take your lunch pail to work type of mentality that Crosby plays with. And I think that he could really really thrive in this scheme with this wide nine where he can pin his ears back and get after the quarterback. Max Crosby would be a dream trade target for San Francisco. And he’s everything that the Ners value in a player. Loves the game of football, plays the game the right way. He’s a stud and he’s a dog. And this would be losing an elite player in Bosa and replacing him with an elite player in Crosby. Man, I saw some people down in the comment section and on my Instagram, give me a follow, chase_cenior saying that Crosby is overrated. What game are you watching? And also keep in mind that on that Raiders defense, it’s not like he’s getting a lot of help. Overall PFF grade this year of 84.6, run defense grade of 78.6. He can set the edge and he’s really good against the run. He’s an excellent pass rusher, 76.8 grade there. He has two sacks this year, 16 pressures, and four quarterback hits. He’s also had consistent production all throughout his career. You get him opposite of Mike Williams this year. Those are two defensive ends who can set the edge, they can stop the run, and they can really be disruptive in getting after the quarterback. I mean, we’re talking about a player here in Crosby who year by year since 2019 when he was a rookie, 10 sacks, seven, eight, 12 and a half, 14 and a half. He only played 12 games last year, still had seven and a half sacks. This year in five games had two. Caleb Williams said a couple of weeks ago after the Bears beat the Raiders, he is the best player I have ever played against. And I kind of agree with that. Just a oneofone, very unique type of guy. There’s also this player who’s been getting a lot of recent buzz and I want to give a shout out to Brad Graham of SF Ners for bringing this name to light. It is Miles Murphy of the Cincinnati Bengals. And Brad kind of phrased this as a trade target who is the other option who people aren’t talking about because all of the focus is on Trey Hendrickson right now. Miles Murphy certainly has some pedigree. He played his college football at Clemson. He made producer Chip proud because Chip also a Clemson alum, first round pick in 2023. Unbelievable athlete. 65 276 with length and power. He can also really run. Four five speed. The sack production hasn’t been great. 301 and a half to start this year. He has seven pressures in five hurries, but he’s a really intriguing young player who’s affordable. And how often have we seen Chris Koserk be able to maximize defensive ends and defensive linemen who are with one team and they’re not necessarily working out as far as production. Then they come to the ners and they end up being really good players. Charles Amen, Jordan Willis, Ardan Kei, I mean Chris Kerak’s done a great job of developing defensive ends. Even Cleveland Furl had a good year for San Francisco. Look at what Koser’s been able to do with the player like Nick Bosa early on with Mike Williams if he gets his hands on Miles Murphy. That’s a very interesting developmental piece. Other Niners trade targets here going to continue to throw Kavon Tibido into the mix. He’s definitely up there for one of my favorite trade targets for the Niners. A young player who’s under contract for 2026 as well. He’s been really good this year. Carl Granderson of the Saints because him, Cam Jordan, they play on a team that only has one win and the Saints are getting calls because they’re looked at as a team that could be sellers going into the deadline because they’re rebuilding. I would love Brian Burns. And then Bradley Chub of the Dolphins, he tore his ACL last year, but does have four sacks so far this season. Don’t forget to lock us in. Hit that subscribe button. 2. Their MO, younger and cheaper. I think Granderson had a great game against the Niners and is fresh in their mind as a potential difference maker. Another under the radar guy I would love Kocurek to get his hands on is Zach Harrison from ATL. 6'6 275, 4.60 40, rookie contract, with over 36INCH ARMS! Those are Aldon Smith level measurables. Aldons arm length was his greatest weapon, Zach's are an inch longer. That's prime clay for Kocurek to mold

  3. Look at who's injured Brock Purdy 3yrs straight Jennings 3yrs straight Pearsall 2yrs straight. How can you'll glorifies these injured players over Deboo😢 Look what is happening Brock Purdy job is up in the air ,cause he's suppose to make $54 million guaranteed. I told everyone that Brock Purdy should be franchise tag. Do we have insurance on Brock like Nick Bosa 😢 i bet no. Mccarthy Trent Brandon kittle. You'll make this inside organizations look stupid. Trading Deboo and now can't keep a receiver healthy😂 next season somebody has to go Brock Purdy or Kyle shannhan or John Lynch 🤔

  4. Here we go again talking about a trade. You'll not tried of losing money on second string players like Chase Young or Hargrave from Philly or Campbell Trash 🤬🤬🤬 we have Star Youths playing better it's the Brock Purdy problem 🤬

  5. We need an edge rusher and an improved oline. Bosa has had injury issues and the FO ignored it. Trent Williams hasn't been that guy for years and they ignored the oline. Lynch and Shanahan continue to ignore these points and that's why we're not SB contenders. By the time they try to trade we'll be out another necessary star player, keeping us out of SB contention.

  6. Thanks Chase….We are in the market to deal but are the teams ready to let go with top talent? We could use Hendrickson, Crosby, Simmons, Thib or Burns. Either of those guys can make our DL better and help the pass rush. Fingers crossed 🤞🏽🤞🏽
