NHL Highlights | Flames vs. Oilers – October 8, 2025
Chris Dlock wanted his team ready. McDavid wins the opening faceoff and we are underway with the first of four battles of Alberta this season. Morgan Frost up to Calgary’s own rookie and the 19year-old whistles a shot off the right shoulder of Skinner. That was a good chance. Moves in back to Duck. New Jan Hopkins in front. Damasha couldn’t get his stick on it. You’ll see him net front in this alignment where Heyman usually is. McDavid on back door. Eugen Hopkins one nothing across and he doesn’t miss much on that backhand side up over top. But this is the play here. A little give and go. McDavid back down to dry side. It’s that quick hard pass set play. Paul McFarland now taking over the power play for the Edmonton Oilers. His fifth game as an Oilers, sixth in the league. Play one for Buffalo who drafted the top 10. Here’s a drive from the point of save Skinner and he handled the rebound against Morgan Frost point blank after the initial drive from shot off the pads. A wolf a backhander and stopped point blank was slid ahead. Nan Hopkins looked to feather it. What a play keeping alive by Majapani, the former flame. And now McDavid dangling his way in. Fires a pass across. Here’s a chance. His first game as an Arthur fights his former team. It’s two nothing inside the line down on his knees. Scrambles to get on side. That’s the important key. Gives it to McDavid. He knows he’s going to cross that line and then he just comes in late. It’s a hard across from McDavid to find him and he’s got the shot mentality. Picks his spot and captain of the club at one point, you know, commented that he wasn’t sure that Anderson, who’s been a longtime stalwart, would be able to get a contract done. Confidence, right? Great to see confidence in young players. Hard to maintain it, but it’s important. But Olson initially fumbled it away and then got it back and gave it a good read by Lombberg, but didn’t get outside the zone. Tricycle to Trent Re and now Matias Eco Tidle finds McDavid and he blistered one over the right shoulder of Dustin Wolf. Two countrymen having a little discussion and he was congratulating him for his first NHL game. Hop off from Bushard. Back door. One time to score. Tomic will pick up his first NHL point and it’s Leon Dryle with a power play goal to extend Edmonson’s lead to three nothing. Milestone top 10 in non-n North Americanborn players to get to 400 goals. The type of career he’s had. Tomasic, we talked about it. Not just the shooter can make a play. Uses his big size. Little nool looker backhand pass back door to Leon Dryidle for the tap in. Not a chance for Wolfe on that one. Nan Hopkins down to dry down to Tomasik. Sorry. And he knew exactly where he wanted to go with that one. Dryle to close the distance. Was waiting for them. He’s aged well. Now here’s Coleman centering deflected wide and then banged off the side of the net by Gondry. Calgary’s best chance of the night perhaps. And now Nurse challenging. Easily taken from him by Coronado. Good defensive play. Sets up Gondry. And now another chance for Grin. Spun it and got a bounce. That’s his first NHL goal in his debut. Matt Bay Grren bent it off Noah Phelp and the Flames have sliced the gap to three to one. Gets turned over on the ensuing play coming in. Darnell nurses the defenseman up on the play and it’s a quick little pass by Cadri. Now Grim doesn’t handle it right away as he spins to try and make this pass. Looking for Coronado who’s in the slot. He looks right there. He knows he’s got a target but in the process of trying to find Coronado back door goes off of Phil in the back of the net and the Flames are on the board. Weager up the right hand side. Mark Stewart foul. More positional play on the PK. Here’s a shot by Cadre. Skinner got a piece. Digging, slotting, and scoring. He batted that one over the air. Siri brings Calgary to within 3-2. The call on the ice is a goal. It’s a hard take from that angle. This is a better one here. We’re going to see it as this one comes up and you’re going to see Zary right there in the slot waiting, waiting, waiting. Oh boy, that is tight. It’s really tight. Plays under review to determine if the puck was going to stick into the net prior to the goal. From that angle, it’s a lot tighter than the first one we showed you. Godrey poke checked away by McDavid. He’s whipped. Dry settle. Twoon two. Spins, cuts the middle. Dry settle fires and a save made by Wolf. rebound available and a save made by Wolf again. It tries settles expense. Well, and Calgary all of a sudden Kyle has a lot of life and with about 8 minutes to go in the second period. Ryan Nan Hopkins with the 50th three-point game of his career. Zary launches one toward the Oiler net. Skinner misplayed and had it poked in by Blake Coleman. This game is tied. [Music] They just need to get things going and find some bounces. They found one on that goal by him. A nice touch to put it in to make it 3-2 early in this period. I think Steuart Skinner thinks that Bousard’s going to take this puck. It’s just a little chop and it’s Zary that puts it in there. The one hopper. He’s got to control it. He has it. What’s he going to do? And it’s the quick stick of two assists tonight. Frederick want to battle. but gave it in front and the save in on dry side to dry. Now go a one-time save. Wolf rebound available. Wol another stop on McDavid and then Dry Sidle had one blocked. That could have won it right there. Frost under duress from Adam Henri. Flames won’t get a shot away. They’ll begin the overtime with 23 seconds of power play time. still in a stat that probably cost it a playoff spot. Finished five and 12 in OT. But here are the Flames. Starting OT four on three. An abbreviated power play. Weaguer to Cadri loading and firing and a save made by Skinner. 5 seconds left in the power play. Condry again dishes one time. Another save. Skinner on Morgan Frost over the line. Booard couldn’t make the drop off and now gritten in his NHL debut to win it. Shot missed already with a power play goal tonight. Here’s Booard. McDavid in front to Sha back in an eye point blank. Dustin Wolf rebound. Anderson attempts to clear. Can’t get it done. Over to Tricycle. 7 seconds to play. Here’s McDavid. Bard a one-time off the outside of the post. Rebound Bard and Didle had it go off the heel of his stick at the horn% [Applause] McDavid the lead off the shootout denied. Wolves stayed right with him Lou and that’s one of his strengths, isn’t it? First round no blood drawn. Here’s Tryle in the shootout against Wolf scores and known so much for that quick release, but he’s got the moves as well. Sold that all the way to the backand quick backhand to forehand wraps it around the pad and Morgan Frost. Four out of 12 for his career. Puts the brakes on. Wade shoots and scores. The old Patrick Kane just become out, start backing up. All of a sudden, he slams on the break. Look how far Steuart Skinner is out here. And then he just gets him moving a little bit right to left. Picks his spot and a quick release finds the net. Neard his first career shootout attempt. Louie Bard in on Wolf. Stopped. Kappa 0 for five in the shootout in his career. the speed. Oh, they’re going to wave it off. They’re going to say bar, but he gets this away quick. And again, this is from distance hash marks. He just flicks it past the glove. You can see the reaction of Wolf. He hadn’t even moved really. The 20% just seven for 39 in his career to win it for Calgary. Back hitters score. And in the eighth round, the Flames complete the comeback from three nothing down. and prevail in the battle of Alberta. 43 on opening night in a shootout. Come wide, come to the middle. Quick little flare there of the blade to fake that he was going to take that shot. We’ve seen it a couple times in a row, but he elects to go back to the backand and puts this one home. Good move. Head up the whole way. Fakes that shot. You can see right there, as soon as he faked the shot, Steuart Skinner’s going to react to it. Once that reaction happens, he finds the backhand in elevation. And for the second time in the 45ear history of the battle of Alberta, the Flames rallied from three goals down to pull out a victory. And Exaltton on the Flames bench. [Music]
Blake Coleman scored the game-tying goal in the third period, Nazem Kadri had an assist, and sealed the 4-3 win for the Calgary Flames with a shootout goal against the Edmonton Oilers.

Великолепный камбэк😊Огоньки с победой 👍👍👍
love ya stu but god damn brother
🤣сезон 24-25 продолжается у нефтяников
Скиннер к завоевание КС готов! 😄
And then Stu Skinner started thinking… Instead of doing his job and protecting the puck…. Thinking is always a mistake, a huge mistake – as you can see.
I'm team tank all day long, except when its the Oilers.
no defence… no goalie… -> no Stanley Cup
People aren't giving the pergatory Flames much of a chance, which is valid. But let's be honest they're building from the back forward, which is the complete opposite of the last 20 years for the Oilers. The difference is shown in tonight's game.
What's with the extra sound effects. Really weird 😮
New year same problem. GOALTENDING EDMONTON
🐺❤🐺❤🐺
Bwahahaha
That goal was not on skinner lol better use that extra money to get a real defense lol
4 unanswered goals lol
The flames just made a big statement with this win. Down 3-0 and win in a shootout.
Good job, Sturdy Stuart😂😂😂
Ho cares about points or goals. The point is- Stanley cup. Nothing all matters.
Someone tell me please why Oilers think Bouchard is worth 10 million, I cant believe his bad defensive play.
They got skinnered again..
Conor Ingram, come on down
And Skinner , omg…dont want to even talk about it
Jaaa. Lads even Calgary can beat oilers.bro Conor should ask for trade. I didn't see any spark in the eyes of him . Yes I know Oilers fans will hate me for this, but I don't believe Oilers will win Stanley cup.
Какая прекрасная история получилась! Калгари спасибо, ну а нефтяникам, желаю продолжать в том же духе 😅
In 2nd goal whoever was on one knee, he only exited with 1 leg, dont you have to exit with 2 legs for it to not be an offside?
oilers new tactics – easy come-easy go. Congrats Gridin with his 1st.
Same old, same old, no goal tending. Same thing in Toronto, going on 5 years now. Not going to get it done with Stolarz in Toronto, or Skinner in Edmonton. Who is Toronto going to blame this year, Mathews, Knies, maybe the guy running the dryer between periods.
McDavid doing something great for the franchise, just to be let down by his team and especially goaltending as quickly as possible, is the most Oilers way to start the season.
I hope Skiner is knowing that he is trash goalie himself, third Stanley cup final will lose again with him
Meh, it’s an Oilers tradition now. You have to crap the bed on game 1. It’s not how you start…
I was 1000% sure they were gonna call that a no goal for zary cause they always call the no goal on zary lol
That was really PATHETIC, Up 3 nothing and lose 4-3 in shootout. WTF 4 unanswered goals in a row. I don't know why McDavid resigned so fast….He should have waited until after the playoffs and seen the result. Then bounced to a real contender if they failed to win old Stanley. I think I threw up in my mouth a little bit watching that crap.
Morgan Frost pulled out the Kirkland special in that shootout 🙂
Hey editors. You have to show the result of the coaches challenge.
Goaltending…with McD's sacrafice, it's still what we need.
1st game of the season, "SKINNER" singlehandedly, LOSES for you…..what more do ya need to see ???????
Oilers suck again hahhahahaha. Mcdavid why did you stay. Get out of there
Once again, the MVP of the game goes to Skinner lol
Good job Flames!
Great win! Great game! Great job! Go Flames go! :*
skinner makes so many mistakes and he keeps playing
Stuart Skinner is certainly a goalie of all time
I don't know how many more yrs and games of bad goals/horrendous stats they need to see of Skinner, so they can finally ship him out. What a joke.
Bouch and Skinner now combining their powers to screw up more efficiently.
what a goaler!! everybody knows thats the problem and they never do anything!!
i completely understand everyone's doomerism, but if they hold that out or somebody misses/scores in the shootout it's not half as gloomy down here in this comment section. it's a longgg season, an shootout loss first game doesn't mean McDavids asking for a trade lmao
Like what’s even going through Stuart’s head? Is he trying to nutmeg the forward and go for a goalie rush? Just glove the damn puck, brother. This guy’s actually sped.
worst goaltender
Skinner riding the momentum he had last June
Skinner so bad😡
Lol McDavid.
