[Keys] GMPV says via The Beeker that the plan for Sennecke this season will be very similar to Leo’s first season

Remind me what Leo’s first season looked like? I remember no back to backs. What else?
I like this a lot.
I was wondering if they’d let him go to WJC but doesn’t look like Leo did his rookie year
I hate this. He’s so far from ready it’s not even funny. He needs like five games up here, two conditioning stints in the A, a strong world junior appearance, and to finish it out in Oshawa. There are benefits to him playing half of the year pro, but he needs to go back to junior where the game is half the speed to actually apply what he’s learned. The NHL isn’t a development league.
Lol didn’t someone claim a couple days ago that the ducks were not going to do this
That said, I actually think this is more for for Sennecke than it was for Leo. He gets more hand holding. He can use his off days to pound protein powder lol
I don’t listen to podcasts. I knew Alexis Downie does our podcasts, but didn’t know she named it The Beeker.
Beeker was GM Verbeek’s nickname in addition to being called The Little Ball of Hate.
Should I stop calling Verbeek “Beeker” to avoid confusion?
EDIT: never mind, The Beeker is when she has Verbeek on the podcast. Insert the more you know .gif
I fall closer to the u/BroLil side of things on this and am not confident that Beckett is ready for NHL minutes. He’s starting the season with a BIG opportunity on the second line and I think his hands and shot are NHL caliber but I worry about his defensive ability, his physicality and his decision making. He didn’t look comfortable in the preseason, IMO, and a lot of the players he was playing against are in juniors, in the AHL or on the street right now.
Fingers crossed for him tomorrow night and all season long. I hope he gets in about 35-40 games, total, and gets a lot of extra work in practice with the coaches and a LOT of work with the trainers in the weight room. Hoping he looks like a completely different player by the time April rolls around.
So essentially let him cook until he doesn’t, and then let him go develop and establish good habits. Smart call GMPV
