Found this in the Patriots’ Sub. Our OLine is fine?

  1. This does not rly pass the eye test, imho. Our OLine def hasn’t looked as well as the Lion’s for example, tho we are in the same tier according to the graphic.

A possible explanation for me would be tho, that it has become more and more apparent that Kyler has issues with seeing defenders rushing or generating pressure and he goes into panic mode very quickly. This might mean that average OLine play results in bad plays more often than it should, as Kyler panics too early and abandons his reads. If that truly is the case I hope he has a sports psychologist or someone to help him get over that.

  2. I mean there’s so many things that go into a “good o line” – I need to know how they’re measuring it

If it’s not taking sacks – Kyler Murray is good at not taking sacks. So is Michael Penix.

If it’s something else I’d love to know the criteria.

I don’t think the cards have the worst o line by any means but watching them play I don’t think they’re good lol

  3. These charts puzzle me because watching our Guards and Right Tackle play tells a different story. Jonah Williams gets burnt a lot and our Guards get no push and I think even Froholdt doesn’t look as dominant as he has before. I miss Klayton Adams, he had a Dallas O-Line with 4 new starters still dominate against the Jets.

  4. Yeah I don’t think it’s good but it’s not as bad as people here make it out to be.

It’d be interesting to see Brissett behind it. Kyler doesn’t know how to move in the pocket, that intentional grounding play is a good example, there’s a clean pocket to step into and he just doesn’t. Kyler also falls over at first contact.

Brissett isn’t a better qb but might be able to work the pocket better.

  5. Line play has been a bit up and down but there are a couple of things that contribute to that:

    – Murray moves around a lot/has happy feet and often times will step into the pass rush
    – Our play calling is terrible and defenses are rarely off balance so they can be aggressive
    – Connor being out as he can effectively pick up the blitz and provide a safety valve on check downs

Last year was the first time in decades I thought the line looked pretty good. Hopefully we can get back there again soon.
