THE HERD | Colin Cowherd STUNNED, Pittsburgh Steelers Have Been GIFTED WINS | NFL
The quarterbacks are going, they’re dropping like flies, Colin. And Aaron Rogers somehow is the fossil in the division and the Steelers are in first and he’s healthy. Go figure. Uh Joe, Joe Burrow, not expected back soon. Lamar, we don’t know. Uh Mike Tomlin, though, he’s not focused on any of that. Here’s your boy Mike Tomlin. I don’t care what happened with other people, particularly last weekend. Um it’s about us coming off the buy and getting ready for our game this week. I’m not a big picture guy. I’m not a big picture guy. Listen, he’s sitting pretty. You want to name the other starters in the division right now outside of Aaron Rogers? Hey, it might be Joe Flacco who who could start in Cincinnati this week. I I think it’s he just got benched by the Browns. Yeah, I mean I think sometimes you get good fortune. I mean there there are um I mean teams have often benefited in the NFC West when San Francisco’s fallen apart. So I mean I I don’t think the Steelers are a great team. um even their highly paid defense isn’t particularly um something to marvel at 10, but the bottom line is Burough gets hurt a lot. Baltimore’s roster gets banged up a lot. Cleveland’s Cleveland. So, I mean, they’ve earned it. I Pittsburgh’s found a way to win games in artistically. There’s a value in that. They’re not pretty. Um they’ve got they’re a little old defensively in spots. They’re very expensive, but you know what? They got a playmaker in TJ Watt. They’ve got playmakers on that defensive side. Aaron’s not making mistakes. Aaron’s throwing the ball underneath, keeping it safe. They got one big play guy in DK Metaf. I thought losing Naji, their left tackle, and Pickkins would be an issue. But, um, unlike the Jets, cuz I do think I thought it was going to look like the Jets, but a better organization. The difference is the Steelers find ways to win games and the Jets find ways to lose games. in Pittsburgh. There is something to be said about organizational structure and strength and confidence and Mike Tomlin’s been there so many times. So, you give them credit. I don’t think they’re a pretty team or a great team. It doesn’t matter. They’re winning games. Yeah, that’s fair. I don’t know if we get the Steelers schedule on the screen, but Colin, let’s be real. Their opponents have handed them games. The Patriots had five turnovers. You know, who would you take neutral field right now? Patriots or Steelers? Give me the Patriots all day. They they face Carson Wentz, Drake May. They lost to Darnold and Justin Fields. I know you can only play who’s on your schedule, but I’m just saying that back end, okay, the Bills are going to fix. They’re going to write the ship. Lamar’s going to be fine. I I think you’re overvaluing how tough the back end is. Detroit, that’s a loss. Well, I mean, Colts and Packers are tough games. They get them both at home. The Chargers, will they be healthy? Ben, they should be by week 10. Hold on. Hampton and Alt should be back by week 10. Um, the Bears could be frisky in Chicago. Uh, I think you give them the two losses to Lamar, the loss to the Bills, loss to the Lions. Listen, I like you and I like the Steelers this week a lot. Okay. Irrationally, the line is starting to tick up. They got the Browns. I just don’t like their long-term outlook. That’s fair. It was. And it What’s interesting is Mike Tomlin’s teams, this is interesting. I don’t have it in front of me, but they’ve not been great in their last five or six games of the year. Why would that be? I’ve always had this theory that Mike Tomlin is very inspirational and very motivating. He’s not a big picture guy. He is a Sunday guy. And I do think over the course of a season that plays well early, but players tune it out late. I mean, you can only give so many motivational speeches and I think it has a great effect early in the season. He’s an inspiring guy. He’s a great speaker. He’s an incredible motivator. But in the end of a season when you’re beat up, that’s not what it is. It’s a scheme league late like cuz you don’t have full rosters and everybody’s beat up and that’s why Kyle Shanahan should be coach of the year. What Kyle Shanahan’s doing in San Francisco is insane. Okay, we’re not going to start going on a Kyle Shanahan tangent right now. Uh I think we all just witnessed uh Colin and and Jac in real time realize that the Pittsburgh Steelers are actually a well-run franchise. They’re like they just find ways to win. It’s like did the Pit are the Pittsburgh Steelers a new franchise? Like I like is is are they a brand new team? Did I I I I don’t understand. I don’t understand. Uh before we get too much further into it, Pittsburgh Steelers fans, you I just got to continue to thank you guys so much. Uh we’ve added thousands of Steelers fans subscribing over this last like week and a half or so. I mean, like it’s been absolute insanity. Um when you guys subscribe, when you guys watch the full length of the video, this is what happens, right? I mean, it just it it just keeps going and going and going. Um, and I just I can’t thank you enough. I can’t thank you enough. And all I can ask is that you guys please keep going. Please keep going so I can continue to make the best possible Pittsburgh Steelers content that I can so we can firmly root ourselves in this in this sports talk world and create the best community uh out there where everyone has a voice to be heard. Um, but I mean, first off, I love Tomlin’s answer cuz they’re trying to ask him about other nonsense stuff and he’s pretty much just like, I don’t care. Like, what? Don’t don’t ask me this. And I honestly don’t really like when coaches and players for that matter, but definitely coaches are combative with the media and snarky or dismissive of the media, uh, just because that’s how we get our information and it’s part of our entertainment. And I always thought it was a disgrace that what Bill Bich would do and Papovic, you know, in the NBA that the fact the league’s never stepped in and said, “You got to answer these questions. I understand it’s boring. I understand it’s repetitive. I don’t care. This is this is part of the entertainment product. You’re not allowed to just be like, you’re not you’re not allowed to do that, okay? Be a grown man. Be a be an adult.” But the way how Mike Tomlin can do it is just kind of like, “What are we talking about here? Let’s move on. Let’s have a If you want to ask me real conversation, let’s have a real conversation. If you want to ask me real questions, you can ask me real questions. I’ll give you real answers, but you want me to speak on the on the injuries of Lamar Jackson and Joe Bur? What do you want me to say? Uh, it’s a bummer that those guys are injured. Uh, I’m worried about my team. I’m worried about going up against the Cleveland Browns. Like, what are we doing here? So, I love it. I I appreciate it. Now, in terms of them, uh, you know, running out of steam, I guess, at the at the tail end of the season, I mean, they’ve had unluck un you know, unfortunate rosters over the years and have struggled to get the quarterback position right. That’s why you sputter down the line. And this team has had to be carried so much by the defense week after week after week that when you’re late in the season now, the defense is exhausted. They’re they’re they’re fried. They’re exhausted. They’re banged up. It’s not that Mike Tomlin’s message now is just no longer inspiring. You start to tune it out at the tail end of the season when you’re entering into the playoffs. No, you don’t. That’s when things get ramped up. That’s when things absolutely positively get ramped up. when you’re all banged up and you’re injured and you’re tired and you’re exhausted and and you know and you’re you’re you’re just uh even your family now, your wife, your girl, whatever, like they’re extra supportive in August and September. Then now they’re starting to get tired. It’s the holidays and they’re like, “Come on, come on.” You know, and it’s just like you that’s when you need the inspiration even more. It’s when you need the motivation. It’s when a lot of these players have already missed a couple, you know, random weeks here and there and now they’re getting back into the swing of things. week 15, week 16, so and so hasn’t played since week 10, like you need that inspiration. You need that motivation. And then when you do have second, third string guys, you know, in later in the season, they certainly need the motivation and the inspiration and the belief. So like I I I I don’t even know what that take is honestly. I I really don’t. I I you know, players start to tune it out. Uh I I’ll be honest. Players that tune stuff like that out always tune it out. And players that listen to it always listen to it. you know, you’re you’re you’re either susceptible to that type of messaging or you’re not or you’re not. Um, and the only times that you start to tune it out is when you no longer really respect the coach. Um, or you feel like you’ve already heard it a million times and you don’t need that message in that moment. You’re already inspired enough. You you’re already you got that fill, you know? Uh, so I just I don’t know. now. And then now to just to be like, oh, the Steelers have their wins have been given to them, have been given to them. That’s just so ridiculous. It it it really is. And then it’s like, well, this they’re going to lose. They’re going to lose on this. Loss here, lost there, lost here, lost there. Oh my god. I don’t I don’t know why we don’t even I I I I question. We should just start to really just not watch these games anymore because we all know exactly how they’re all going to unfold. We just know it. We just know it. There’s no there’s no reason to ever um watch the game because we just know they’re going to lose to the Packers. They’re going to lose to the Colts. They’re going to lose to the Chargers. They’re going to lose to the Bears. They’re going to lose to the Bills. They’re going to lose to the Ravens. They’re going to lose to the Colts. And then they’re going to lose to the Ravens again. That’s a lot of losses. Better luck next year, Pittsburgh Steelers. Sorry. I’m sorry I asked y’all to subscribe and watch the full length of the video. You’re wasting your time. There’s not much going to be to talk about. I’ll make a video about the Cleveland Browns. That’ll be fun. The Bengals, that’ll be fun. The Packers, you know, they’re done. Uh Colts, they’re done. Chargers done. Bears done. Bill’s done. Ravens done. I’m sorry. I I just won’t have much to say. The video will just be I was wrong. Everybody else was right. Pittsburgh Steelers are bad. Aaron Rogers is a bum. Mike Tomlin’s not good. Steelers are not a well-run franchise. I mean, the Steelers are in a legitimate place to win this division. Like I I like they’re they’re they’re in a they’re in a real spot here. And here’s the thing. Talking about how bad their defense is, not quite. When you’re looking at a 4-week sample size, okay, a four-week sample size, when you have a couple rough games or just a rough game, that destroys any sense of rankings. And so when they look at rankings, you know, they talk about uh mostly like when they’re looking at like, oh, this defense has been bottom in the league. Usually it’s points per game, how many points they’re giving up per game, as well as uh total yards and whatnot. And it’s like that Jets game was obviously just both teams rising to the occasion of like we both want to beat each other. We got our quarterbacks, both quarterbacks want to rise to the occasion, send a message, like let’s get after it. That game was just awesome. You just chalk it up say that was that was a crazy game, you know? get after it. Uh we saw it with the Dallas Cowboys going up against the Green Bay Packers. We’ve seen it over the years so many times for all the different variations, whether it’s coaching, whether it’s players, whatever. And then the Seattle Seahawks, some of that is a is a little bit misleading because of the way how that game unfolded, special teams issues, etc., etc. But the Seattle Seahawks also have an have a really highpowered offense and an offense that no one really understood how to defend because they’re like, I don’t know who the heck is Clint Kubak and uh Sam Darnold together right now, right? Like people are trying to figure out like what what even is this team? People definitely had their preconceived notions on who Sam Darnold is and they’re realizing, oh, Sam’s actually like a good quarterback. Like we we actually have to game plan him like he’s actually a good quarterback. But even so, like I said, that to my recollection, the defense didn’t officially give up 31 points because you had the one special teams thing and whatnot. And then the Patriots um that defense swallowed them up, played really well. And then again, you’re downplaying the Minnesota Vikings and Carson Wentz. Carson Wentz has been great. He’s been playing really really well. So yeah, you’re always going to look significantly better against worse teams and then it will always be it should be if you’re if you’re also a good team a battle with the good teams, right? And so it’s like and what does that turn into in any given moment? I don’t know. You have to kind of wait and see. You have to kind of wait and see. But the way how the Baltimore Ravens have been playing, you’re just automatically chalking, you know, chalking up losses. Like, why? Why? The Dallas Cowboys hung with the Green Bay Packers. Pittsburgh Steelers can’t. There’s There’s no way for that defense to play for the Pittsburgh Steelers defense to be better than the Dallas Cowboys defense. There’s that’s that’s not on the table at all. At all. Not at Not on the table at all. a huge emotional game with Aaron Rogers taking on the Green Bay Packers that that’s nothing none of this is on the table at all at all. Okay, the Chargers who are decimated right now as well. Again, I don’t know what week 10 is going to look like for the Chargers. So, I don’t have a strong desire to go game to game and start to look at week 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16. Like, I don’t care enough. Talk about, you know, Mike Tomlin not being a big picture guy. It’s like I’ll loosely look at the schedule in advance just to kind of get a feel for, you know, I I like to look at the final, you know, uh, few weeks of the season just to be like, I don’t know how important that week 18 game will be for either the Steelers or the Ravens. Is the division locked up? Is the seating locked up? Right? So, I I always think it’s interesting when you have like a big game like that on paper, Ravens versus Steelers, so late in the season, I’m like, yeah, I don’t I don’t know what that means. I don’t know what that game means. And so, I’ll look at it like that from from that standpoint. But, I am just going to be focused on right now. I’m not going to just start counting up losses. I in the back of my mind I’m like, “Okay, yeah, going up against the Bills, should be a tough game.” Uh, you know, again, if the Chargers are healthy, should be a tough game. If the Ravens are healthy, should be a tough game, right? Like these there’s tough games on the schedule. Welcome to the NFL. Welcome to the NFL. And if you can’t win at least a couple tough games, well then, yeah, then there’s no point in in talking about the team then. Like I, you know, I just it’s like I I don’t know what to tell you then. But it’s just like I don’t know. Uh just I I don’t know. We sometimes just have such a distorted way of looking at things. Yeah. H this is the way how this season ends is going to be so fascinating. There’s just so many different storylines that are being juggled, being doubted, being believed. It’s just this has been a wild year from through my lens right now. It It really is. This has been a w last year was almost semi-predictable and a repeat. The Ravens were a top team. The Bills were a top team. The Chiefs, I know uh they didn’t look as great as we saw in years past, but they kept winning, right? They obviously kept winning and winning. They were a top team. And the one thorn, and that was the Eagles. The Eagles were a top team, but like nobody believed. The Lions were a top team until they got injured and all that, but the Eagles were the Thorn. And now the Eagles are still continue to be the thorn right now. And same thing with the Steelers. And I just hope both those teams can can live up to it because there’s just a there’s a handful of narratives. the Seattle Seahawks, the Minnesota Vikings, um yeah, Pittsburgh Steelers, Eagles, uh Broncos. There’s there’s just there’s just a there’s a handful of teams that I see the conversations around them just feel so distorted, just feel so so messy. And I don’t know, I think with each win that happens, they just they struggle to process what they see and they try so desperately to force their conclusion that they had before to try to make sense of it, to try to filter what they’re seeing. Um, and it’s just entertaining to me. So Pittsburgh Steelers just got to keep on winning. Keep on winning. If they take care of the Browns, they take care of the Bengals. They’re five- one. They’re a five in one team. But those are just my thoughts. I’d absolutely love to hear yours. What do you guys all think about the Pittsburgh Steelers and them just being gifted wins and that they’re guaranteed to lose a whole bunch of these games on the back end and it is over for them. Let me know in the comments below. I read every single comment. So whether you agree with me or disagree with me, either way, let’s get in some discussions. Let’s get in some fights. JMac is so clueless to hand Baltimore 2 wins automatically over Pittsburgh
What we got to stay focused we see this before 2024 this is going to be better than 2024
Jmac is a notorious Rodgers hater not shocking
One game at a time but I would say this who knows the Steelers might beat the bills after all it is at actresses stadium 🏟️ they might beat team that are supposed to lose
2 losses to Lamar is crazy😂
Let's just say the Steelers win all nine of the games you'll see you better get a loose 😉 beating the browns the Bengals in beating the Packers revenge game for Aaron Rodgers then beating the colts upset special in Pittsburgh
Colin is clueless as per usual.
We will lose 5 or 6 games, MAX, and we will win a playoff game this season! There are MANY ways to win games; so yes, we find ways to WIN.🖤💛
I've been saying this for months. The Steelers got to the playoffs last season with Justin Fields and Russell Wilson who have a combined (checks notes) 0 wins as starters this season. Now they have Aaron Rodgers! An old Aaron Rodgers, but still, if he can be even 70% of what he once was, this Steelers team is gonna be deadly.
I wish I could never listen to that rat that Colin has on his show ever again. He is horrible. He is so bad
Bruh , your take is just bias and boringly stupid I only come to remind you that you suck 😂
Soo. Jay Mac is a great handicapper ?? And an expert on the NFL. He is Colin’s robin. He is Travis’s (Taylor) !!!! But. I do Love all the hate the Steelers get!!! Keep it coming.
I think Colin's buddy is super upset that his team is still winless with a qb that USED to play for us and looked waaaay better with us(steelers)
When have you ever been able to “chalk up 2 wins in any division split” this guy is a random
Keep up the good reporting and us Yinzers will support🖤💛
P.s 0-2 against the ravens???? Yeah aite😂😂😂😂
🎉HereWeGo Steelers
I get the cynicism , based on Tomlin’s history, they fail again. Now I’m hopeful this year will be different , but if they go 12-5 win the division and get to the AFC championship game, the SB isn’t out of the question. I figure Rodgers, Heyward, Watt and Tomlin have the motivation and a good amount of talent on the rest of the roster. If Tomlin fails to at least win a playoff game, then Rooney should make a change, it’s time, but if he wins, I’m okay with giving it another shot in 2026. Let watch Khan cook in the draft.
The Football Gods Favor The Steelers.
This nigga keep bringing up najee and dan moore like they are elite they both average and sometimes below average with both of them
Best fans in the NFL⚫️🟡
Steelers have beaten the Ravens 9 of 12 since 2020 Regular Season Games with 3 Seasonal Sweeps. Lamar Jackson has his worst Passing Statistics Versus the Steelers Lamar Jackson has faced the Pittsburgh Steelers five times in regular season matchups and he is *2-3 and the results reflect how effectively Pittsburgh’s defense has contained him. Over those games, Jackson has completed 60.9% of his passes for a total of 1,284 yards, throwing 8 touchdowns against 9 interceptions*. His *passer rating stands at 73.1 which is notably below his career average, highlighting the disruptive impact of the Steelers’ defensive schemes. Additionally, he has been sacked 24 times and fumbled 8 times in these contests, underscoring the consistent pressure and physicality he faces when playing Pittsburgh. Despite his dynamic skill set, the Steelers have managed to neutralize many of his strengths, making them one of his most challenging divisional opponents. STEELERS OWN LJ8
You nailed it. Steelers Defense during the 5 game losing streak was playing 75 snap per game when the NFL Average is 60. They were EXHUASTED and had key injuries to TJ and GP in both last 2 playoff appearances.
We never lose to Lamar twice lol
Colin gets paid to think now lol
one more Steelers fan sub for ya ~ keep up the good work!
Steelers at worst will split with the Ravens. Steelers do have a negative point differential however.
Mess around the Steelers will have the division won by week 9 👀
Sports media when the Ravens lose by 34 points and have a 1-4 record: "They're a great football team dealing with some injuries. That's all it is.
Sports media when the Steelers go 3-1 with 3 wins on the road, missing Joey Porter, Alex Highsmith, Darius Slay, and Jaylen Warren: "They're a terrible football team. Very lucky. That's all it is."
Lamar is a great QB, ravens are a great team. But Lamar is 3-5 against us and 10TDs and 9INTS. It’s a divisional game. We don’t give in to our division at all no matter what!
This is bs. Without the injuries I had them beating baltimore twice and winning the division boooooo
Steelers fans are some of the best fans in the country, it doesnt surprise me to see them subscribing to your content
10:00 shannon sharpe would say the steelers are in the Catbird Seat
Pats didnt give them that win jeez.. and the pats beat the bills we saw how the browns looked against vikings and saw what we did to the vikings until the end of the game, so if we beat the browns pretty bad, I think that solidifies the steelers a. It more beating these teams that are beating others
JMac always do that. Offseason I heard him talk about the Jets schedule (he’s a Jets fan) every time he goes “we got the Steelers week one we’ll be 1-0”😂 he predicts we are going to have a losing season every year 😂 😂😂
Jmac always dismisses us and he is always so sure and he is always wrong about us
This is exactly how i fewl when listening to all the talking heads. They act like we don't have any playmakers who change games and momentum in 1 play.
We have 1 loss, did we not give a gift to Seattle
J Mac irrationally hates the Steelers for some reason
4:19 where I’m at atm, ready to hear your opinion, they are like Detroit is just going to be a loss, I’m going to bring this one game up since they said that right quick, is it, idk, what I do know is, imo that’s the hardest game of our schedule in my opinion, that’s my brothers team & my home states team so I’m traveling to go watch it with my brother, my brother has even sais not so fast, my brother said after I said ya’ll might get that one, he said idk should be a good game, he said ya’lls team should be good by then, I was like true, our defense has done nothimg but impove week in & week out, we already had a dominant squad last season & added more skill players, only thing, it takes more than skill, they have had to gel together, learn eachother, gel together & they have shown to get better every week & we have needed JPJ back imo & now once Ramsey comes back, with Elliot, TJ Watt, Cam & Nick & Highsmith, we have a unit, if they do keep getting better & the offense gets better & we get Jaylen Warren back, the one game we can truly look at is the Vikings team, they won the week before us & the next week, that team isn’t no joke either imo, that was a good win & we won frankly, easily outside of trying to let them back in at the end lol but if Warren was playing, we would’ve been up to scores at the end I believe. I think we haven’t even reached our full potential yet.
6:15 Exactly, the Questions that need to be asked, how long do you for see Jalen Ramsey being out, can we expect JPJ & Jaylen Warren coming back this weekend vs the Browns. Etc how do you feel about the call that brought Ramsey’s TD back, do you agree with that rule etc ask him things that affect his team & questions us Fans want to know about out team, the UFC has this same media issue, these companies that send these reporters out, gotta do better, it’s a lot of bias questions.
Gifted 5 takeaways? Mfer they made them happen they didnt just lose the ball the were forced. I hate mainstream media
