Top to bottom, the Ducks want to make the playoffs this year. Can they do it?

  1. I like that the start of the schedule is road heavy, lots of new faces so it’ll be a good chance for the team to bond. Also with that said, I wouldn’t expect them to be hot out the gate, it’s also a new coaching staff and system so would expect a lil more of the learning curve.

  2. Just want then to play meaningful games all season. I mean playoffs would be rad, and I’m already committing to going to game 1 wherever it would be (Edmonton? lol)

  3. I like the optimism and hope.

That said we need to hit the brakes of our hype train a bit. I don’t think our chances to reach the playoffs this year are 0% but they are also not very high. Just look at the competition for a WC spot (Utah, St. Louis, Minnesota, Vancouver).

Too high expectations and toxic fallout if we don’t meet them can hurt the organisation. I think we are still on a good trajectory if a few of our younglings continue their growth. We are still a >potentially< good team. Most of our players didn’t prove that they are playoff worthy just yet. Although last year 2 of them broke out (Dostal, LaCombe) and I have the feeling this year we might see another 2 if we are lucky.

  4. Not trying to be a downer, but we didn’t really have a “playoffs or bust” offseason. We’re sitting on a lot of dry powder in terms of cap space and are mostly relying on the kids improving to get us to the postseason.

  5. Their really motivated that’s good hopefully it translates to the success they deserve.

  6. There’s some real positive vibes with the Ducks, it’s nice to see. As an old school Ducks fan (yes, the 90s) coming back to the sport after 15 years, it’ll be nice to see this new team push themselves. After all, the young talent is the future.
