What’s going on Jeromes? Beautiful Thursday. Birds are chirping and stuff and it’s time for another Vikings news dump from undisclosed location. So, uh did disclose uh Emerald City once we day Emerald City. Got it. Uh but up in Seattle, they’re all in on Ginger Jesus, man. Quebus or I still never figure out what the acronym was about God King quarterback Sam Darnold. Yeah, but they’re all in, you know, despite the I I mean, Darnold played well in that Tampa Bay game and that last interception was a deflection, so it is what it is, right? But the house of Darnold built the legion of whom? Jim Zorn. Nah nah nah nah, that’s right. Uh, and also the the whole thing about Seattle too is that so when I travel with my wife, which say hi. Hello. Yeah. Uh she’s on her phone playing like what game is it? Some cross word game. Anyways, but so we we had a couple like like really nice restaurants booked on the trip, but we unooked because I don’t know the vibe was off, you know, and this one was just more of a walk around Hoods neighborhood Capitol Hill and just find like good local places, mom and pop shops. It’s fantastic. Also probably the best fish and chips I’ve ever had in my life. Like it was almost like a biblical like religious experience. She’s laughing at me. Don’t laugh. Which is really good. Just also Bambberg Island is basically well everything smells like weed and fish here. But there you go. Anyways, uh some some Vikings uh doing some things on the vibe. Byron Murphy’s down in Dallas, Texas. Uh if you ever that wing wing place, it’s fantastic. It’s really good. Also, uh, Christian Darasawa, call me George Foreman because I’m selling everybody grills. I don’t know if this is for him or I don’t know what it is. Although I I will say, you know, obviously we’ve seen like players with grills, uh, mouthguards, but Darasel would be great, too. Just pancaking dudes out there on the perimeter, give him a little grin, just like all the grill. I love it, man. It’s good. also grinding on the by-week. You know, it’s going to be a spot where the Vikings get out to a lead and the other teams has to be in throw throw throw mode. Hell, it might be week seven against the Eagles, right? Because their offensive line is banged up. Dickerson might not play. uh Jaylen Herz uh his connection with AJ Brown and Dvonte Smith has not been great. So, and the Vikings and the offense offensive line getting healthy, racking up and stacking up some points. Jonathan Grard teeing off. It’s going to be fantastic, man. Also, it’s made me chuckle. So, uh, Telus and Matelis was going around asking guys about nicknames and, you know, some of them were pretty boring and straightforward, but Michael Jurgens, it got bleeped out and also got covered by a logo, which this should have been the Zimmerface like when we curse on the show. Should have been that. Uh, but Bri Bo, Brian O’Neal calls me blank. So, Jurgens, I mean, it’s probably something to do with lotion. So, I don’t know that you you can imagine. I I I wish they hadn’t covered his mouth because we would had lip readers interpret it, but it’s probably pretty good. Like I feel like could it be something that has to go to HR? It’s possible. Yeah. Also possible is it’d be really nice if Jump and Joe Flacco beat the greasy gram of Green Bay Packers twice in a season and he’s not even in the same division or conference, which is good. Mike Ellifer Mike Gar followalo. Uh Joe Flacco gets a start right away for the Bengals against the Packers per Zack Taylor. A second game against Green Bay for Flaco this season. Kaseaki if he gets healthy and does terrible gritty everyone’s going to be there. Yeah, also in the trade department. Uh, so this went down yesterday. Pelisero trade. The Jaguars are sending quarterback Tyson Campbell to the Browns for quarterback Greg Newsome. Second, sources tell me in rap sheets. So right away you think, okay, Jefferson as well as Addison just going off on Newsome got him traded, but he had been the, you know, the target of some trade speculation all offseason long. And Campbell Campbell just signed like an extension last year, which is kind of crazy. So it’s more of a It’s weird. It’s so there was like a late round pick swap, but that’s beside the point. Like it’s weird when there’s a player for player swap, but specifically a position the same position. So I don’t know. I don’t know. Uh and Newsome is going to be up for a contract uh at some point playing out his fifth year option. So who knows what’s going there. But also it was Denzel Ward who Addison scored the game-winning touchdown on. So maybe he should have been traded to the Vikings. Also, where’s Quy, man? I I I like a quarterback room, but I feel like Newsome would have been an upgrade over Akuda. Just just smidge. Yeah. Also, yeah, Newsome again. Also, the Vikings uh signed Rashan Lee to the practice squad. Uh they made room by letting go of Matt Wletkco, the pride of Cold Spring, Minnesota. Uh so the Vikings are basically back to where they started, right? So, uh, Versan Lee on the practice squad, he was elevated when Ryan Kelly went on injur reserve and also Michael Jurgens was hurt. And like I said, with the by-week, I mean, guys have a chance to get healthy. And O’Neal, you know, TBD, what happens with the MCL? Jackson will be back. Jurgens could be back. Frankly, I think Brandle should be the starting center, as weird as that sounds. Uh, again, so Brle was a fine backup swing tackle and he was okay guard when Darasaw was there. But after Darasaw was injured, it wasn’t great, right? And the entire offensive line wasn’t great. But what if center is Brandle spot? It would be wild, man. Also wild. So Jar jumping Jared Allen, HOF, Hall of Famer, uh, Culinary Academy, uh, Vikage, uh, Jared Allen, the quarterback situation. Minnesota, you’re going to ride with Carson Wentz. You’re going to ride with the hot hand, and it’s no disrespect to JJ McCarthy. So I I think this is more Jared Allen’s you be being from the defensive side of the ball like basically what I mean you could call Wes the hot hand for sure but also it’s factoring in I mean Jared Allen went through Christian Ponder through Josh Freeman era and he’s thinking about hey I want the veteran who’s going to operate the offense you know maybe be kind of boring but distribute the football we got all these play makers out there and then the defense is going just going to go out and do the damn thing. And also, if the if the offense gets up to a lead, things are going to be a lot easier for the defense. I’m a pass rush, so we can play downhill. It’ll be good to go. Uh I I I feel like maybe they don’t voice it, but defensive players don’t want a, you know, a quarterback who’s young, learning on the job, and you go through all those growing pains. Like I feel like the defensive players are focused on now. But also JJ McCarthy can be that guy believe it. Where Warren Sharp sharp football highest completion percentage on passes 10 plus yards in the air. Sam Darnold is at two. JJ McCarthy is at three now 66.7%. So I don’t know. Is he completing two out of three passes? Don’t know. Carson W’s at 51.3. But it also shows that Kevin McConnell is going to be going downtown Julie Brown. Like as much as the Vikings want to do the quick game and the run game, like Kevin’s bread and butter is always just going to be throwing it downfield, right? And it sort of is what it is. Also with Wentz, uh this is good, too. Uh Ryan, uh Mcrain, Football Analytics, uh the NFL’s most valuable contract is Daniel Jones on his average per year of 14 million, but playing at a level worth 44.3 Marin dollars plus 30.3 million. Uh then you have Carson Wentz. What’s up? 25.3 uh above current value. So uh let’s see here on W’s contract is 1.4 million which is slightly above the league minimum for a veteran of his status. Uh and then the valuation of his contract is 26 million uh and change. So it’s pretty good. Uh and then the rest like you know Drake May CJ Strow on the rookie deal is obviously uh M. Jones just another like league league minimum dude. Actually no M. Jones getting 4.2 million. Damn. Damn. Carson WZ really was a bargain. Dang. Uh but yeah, Daniel Jones, I know, you know, going back to Darnold and as well as Daniel Jones, I know a lot of people uh Vikings fans are like, “Oh, they’re sure they’re sure signed him.” I feel like they would have signed Darnold if he had performed better in the Lions and Rams game. And you could say like the Rams game, the offensive line was terrible. He didn’t have a chance. It is what it is. But honestly, if the season ended right after the Packers game, I think they signed uh Darnold. And we’ve even been on record saying like, you want JJ McCarthy to be as good as Sam Darnold is now. That’s how bad those last two games were. And with Daniel Jones, there was zero or there was zero chance that he was going to sign here absent him being handed the job. He went and signed with the Colts, who he obviously saw as a chance to compete for the job. Uh, and he did beat out Anthony Richardson, and I I don’t think that he was confident in that he was going to beat out McCarthy. That’s what it came down to. Yeah. And lastly, so also, I know that people have been complaining like, well, Thelen hasn’t really done much. The’s job was to get the Vikings through Addison’s suspension. That’s really it, right? And adding some depth and, you know, catching a couple first downs, doing his work in the red zone, catch a two-point conversion, what way he’s doing. Vikes Vampage I’m feeling this season 93 routes run four catches eight targets 37 receiving yards one drop right partry but you did pick up a couple nice first downs as well as a two-point conversion so yeah I I feel like he’s been perfectly fine I feel like he’s panned out on and done exactly what he is supposed to do and this is no like disrespect to him at all like Addison is back Addison Naylor has been quietly extremely consistent and played very well and frankly he deserves more snaps than the at this point. So I don’t think it’s anything where the the trade was a bust or anything like that. I think it just is what it is and the he did his job.
