The Jags already took on around $19.5 million in dead money for the 2026 season by executing this trade, and if they pay Newsome on a big deal, they’ll basically be paying double the going rate for a corner of his stature, thanks to the acceleration of the remaining guaranteed money from Campbell’s contract onto their books.
They basically paid Campbell $30 million to play five games and then go to Cleveland.
Imagine if Coen had accepted the Baalke requirement.
Look I have seen the in Gene We Trust and all the positive stuff for Caldwell. I am taking a let’s wait and see approach. This fan base loves whatever is new. Gladstone may end up being a great GM but no need to say all this now.
I have this feeling that Stones is just young and hungry enough to wake up everyday to his damn cushy job and actually put in the work that 31 other GM’s ain’t doing. He’s elevating the bar as far as I can see, and also has the blessing of having a front office and staff that are as aggressive as he is and are aligned in the goal of winning games. Cohen, Gladstone and Boselli are far and away the Jag’s best off season acquisitions this year and I couldn’t be more excited.
