And now the Blue Jays have runners at second and third with still nobody out in this inning. Ernie Clement is line by Clement center field charging forward Gisham tagging at third. Straw. Gisham makes the catch. Here comes Straw. The throw bounces in offline. It’s a sack fly for Ernie Clement and a 9-1 Blue Jay lead in the bottom of the eighth inning with one out. Seven combined runs in the seventh and eighth. This was a really tight tense game until that four-run seventh. Here’s one of the spots where the Blue Jays thrive. Runner at third. Nobody out. Ernie Clement lanes into one to deep left field. It is gone. Ernie Clement makes it two to nothing. And if the roof was on this place right now, Buck, they’d have blown it right off of here. Unbelievable scene here at the Rogers Center. Two nothing Blue Jays. Ernie Clement has been one of the best first pitch hitters in the game and he kills left-handed pitching and he just jumped on the first pitch for Max Fre and knocked it out of the ballpark. Two nothing. A triple by Baro. A homer by Clement. Two outs bottom of the third. Ernie Clement back up. He hit the two-run homer last inning. One, two to Clement. It is in left field and a base hit. Here comes Marshall. Bellinger’s throw. No chance. Extra 90 ft on the throw home. Ernie Clemens knocked in three. The Blue Jays five. This team hasn’t gotten the credit it deserves for the season it’s put together. And now people around the country are understanding just how good they are. One and a half RA for Freed over his last seven starts. And yet they have five runs on him. Here’s the guy who got it all started. Clement has his third hit of the game. It was Clement who got it all started with a two-run homer back in the second. Clement Santandere and kind of fela coming off. Poked by Clement on the ground to first backing up Rice. It’s a foot race. Ernie dives and he’s safe. He beat out Rice to the bag cuz Rodon didn’t get off the hill and it’s an infield single for Ernie Clement. Another 02 and Clement hits it through the left side on the ground. A base hit. Vlatty getting the wave. Here comes the throw from Bellinger. It bounces in late safe. Up to third goes Vio into second. Clement. 4-1 Blue Jays with two more in scoring position. That was a really aggressive send from Carlos Fableless. Cody Bellinger doesn’t have a bad arm out there. He actually made a very good throw. Really accurate to Austin Wells at home plate. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. hustling around third. Dove in to home plate by about a half a step. What an aggressive play and what a smart play. Hey, the Blue Jays are running the bases really, really well right now. Always the round fall foul pole. Ernie Clement deep to the left field corner. Bellinger on the run. It’ll bounce off the warning track and Clement is three for three in this game. Six out of his last seven. A slider that backs up. That was like a mediocre fast as it looks in the middle of the zone to the hitter. Clement through the left side and Ernie Clement is four for four. Blue Jays not dead yet. First Blue Jays hit since he had the double in the fifth. And they have a base runner here in the eighth inning. Ernie had a four- hit game yesterday, making his name in his first trip here. And Clement lines it up toward left field down for a base hit. What a series he’s having. The childhood Yankee fan is having a great series against the Yankees. He’s now eight for 13. Can they get Ernie Clement out? He’s one for two with a run scored today. Shoots one to right center field. He’s got another base hit. This guy’s incredible. Ernie Clement, two for three and 9 for 12 in the series. I mean, this dude just keeps raking and raking, getting a tough pitch on the outside part, not trying to do too much with it. And Ernie Clement hit it like it was a knuckle ball down the middle.

Ernie rarely follows through on his swings completely. He’s not chasing power for a HR, just solid contact. A clean line drive or a gentle liner is all he wants. Yankees needs this kind of players.
Hopefully he was alright after that HBP to the shoulder blade in Game 4.
