100 Years of Hockeytown

Welcome to Hockey Town. A hundred winners have passed since the first drop of the puck. And in that time, the city found its voice into the ranks of immortality. The echo of blades on ice. The crowd’s deafening cry. The unbreakable bond between a team and its city. I consider the Detroit Red Wings one of the greatest franchises in professional sports. How’s power, Eisermanman’s leadership, Lidstrom’s grace, the winged wheel endures stronger with every hand that lifts it. And these are the world champion Detroit Red Wings. Through triumph and heartbreak, through eras and dynasties, the legacy of Hockey Town lives in every chief. We got more fans in Detroit than they got in the whole NHL. It’s more than a century of fun. It’s a century of family, of grit. Look who came all the way out to try to help, of heart, of belief. 100 years behind, the next 100 years ahead. Because the winged wheel never stops turning. They are on their feet here at Joe Lawrence Arena.

For 100 years, the heart of Detroit has beat to the rhythm of blades on ice and the roar of the crowd. From smoky rinks to championship parades, generations have grown up dreaming in red and white. Legends were born, dynasties built, and through every triumph and trial, the fans never left. The city changed, but the spirit of Hockeytown only grew stronger 100 Years of Hockeytown – a century of passion, pride, and the unbreakable bond between
a team and its people.
