"What is the solution? We've seen four blocked kicks."

"We could be here for a while, but ultimately I think it starts with clarity of understanding the fundamentals, the techniques, the timing, the trajectory, the snap, the hold, the kick, the protection, how quickly that needs to get off. And then getting the right guys in the right spots. And it hasn't been one overriding thing. There's been some different examples of why it hasn't gone down for us, but you know what? We're not going to stop continuing to try to be able to fix it.

I thought we were headed in the right direction against Indianapolis. We took a step back. I don't mean to get too granular of why it did or didn't go down, whether it was on the extra point of the missed field goal. But you know what? It's my responsibility and and it's our responsibility collectively to be able to do better. And that's what we're going to allocate a good amount of time to being able to do. And we've done that before, but it needs a little bit more and that's what we're going to do."

I've seen a lot of comments and threads stating the only issue is the protection. Mcvay makes it pretty clear the issue is much bigger than just protection. Jordan Davis mentioned he knew he could block the kicks because in the 1st half he saw how low the trajectory was (obviously the protection didn't help). If I can see how slow the operation and how low the trajectory is from my couch, everybody else can too. Really makes you wonder if Karty's knuckle ball mechanics he worked on this offseason screwed with his regular kicking mechanics

  1. Let’s just be glad this happened in mostly meaningless games for the season and not in the Divisional round.

This team is still a playoff team, losing games builds resilience and character and we have all the right coaching staff in place to improve from our errors and get better.

  2. Mcvay is using coach and double speak. Very clear the entire operation is having problems. I trust Mcvay and this team to try to work them out. Kicking has been a huge weakness since Gay left though.

  3. To further this McVay on the Coach McVay show agreed to a quote from Pat McAfee that the knuckleball kicking may have bled its way into Karty’s FG kicking causing issues.

It’s a bummer since the knuckleball kicking is such an asset when performed well, but if you need one or another you need the FGs.

  4. He just doesn’t want to single out players so he says the whole thing is a problem. We’ll see how they adjust Sunday. He’s not going to say anything specific.

  5. I agree with you. I think McVay is about as clear as he can get without naming names that this falls on a lot of different shoulders and ST needs to collectively fix it.
